Abstract
We aimed to compare the NeuMoDx HBV Assay with the artus HBV Assay using residual plasma samples and to evaluate the discordant results. The study included 200 patient samples analyzed with the NMD assay and stored at -80 °C. Samples were analyzed by artus in 2023. Discordant results were evaluated by cobas 6800 HBV DNA Test. Excellent agreement was found between both tests. Of the 100 samples that were HBV DNA negative by NMD, 93 were negative and 7 were positive by artus. With the Cobas test, 5 samples were positive. Of the100 HBV DNA positive samples detected by NMD, 99 were positive with the artus assay. This sample was also HBV DNA negative by the Cobas test. The sensitivity and specificity of NeuMoDx were found 93 % and 99 %, respectively. There was excellent qualitative agreement and strong quantitative correlation between the NeuMoDx and artus assays for HBV DNA detection and quantitation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE The utilization of direct amplification of nucleic acid from lysate has attracted interest in the advancement of straightforward and economical point-of-care assays. Consequently, this study primarily focuses on the development of a rapid, precise, and cost-effective lateral flow biosensor for the convenient detection of HBV nucleic acid at the point-of-care. Furthermore, the study evaluates the effectiveness of the direct amplification method in comparison to purified nucleic acid samples within the context of LAMP-LF biosensing approaches. METHODS The experiments conducted in this study utilized clinical serum samples that were confirmed as HBV-positive through real-time PCR assays. Sample preparation involved employing spin column nucleic acid purification and serum heat treatment. To amplify a 250 bp fragment of the HBV polymerase gene, three pairs of specific LAMP primers were utilized, which were biotin-labeled and FITC-labeled for detection purposes. Various incubation temperatures (ranging from 64 to 68 °C) and durations (30 min, 45 min, and 1 h) were investigated to determine the optimal conditions for the LAMP assay. The results were subsequently assessed through fluorometric analysis, white turbidity measurements, and lateral flow assay. Milenia HybriDetect1 strips, designed for immediate use, were employed to visualize the LAMP amplicons. Furthermore, the performance of the lateral flow biosensor was evaluated using 10-fold serial dilutions of a secondary standard containing a viral load of 108 IU/ml. RESULTS The optimization of the LAMP reaction was achieved at a temperature of 67 °C, resulting in significant turbidity after a 30-minute incubation period. When the spin column purification method was employed, varying test bands were observed for templates ranging from 108 IU/ml to 101 IU/ml viral load. However, when serum samples underwent heat treatment and the resulting supernatant was directly used for LAMP, the lateral flow assay was capable of detecting a minimum viral load of 103 IU/ml. CONCLUSION In resource-limited settings, the LAMP-LF assay presents a promising solution for HBV testing. However, it is important to note that direct amplification without DNA purification may diminish the performance of the approach.

Abstract
Liver diseases in pregnancy comprise both gestational liver disorders and acute and chronic hepatic disorders occurring coincidentally in pregnancy. Whether related to pregnancy or pre-existing, liver diseases in pregnancy are associated with a significant risk of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Thus, the European Association for the Study of Liver Disease invited a panel of experts to develop clinical practice guidelines aimed at providing recommendations, based on the best available evidence, for the management of liver disease in pregnancy for hepatologists, gastroenterologists, obstetric physicians, general physicians, obstetricians, specialists in training and other healthcare professionals who provide care for this patient population.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Pakistan has a hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection prevalence of 6%-9% and aims to achieve World Health Organisation (WHO) targets for elimination of HCV by the year 2030. We aim to evaluate the potential cost-effectiveness of a reference laboratory-based (centralised laboratory testing; CEN) confirmatory testing approach versus a molecular near-patient point-of-care (POC) confirmatory approach to screen the general population for HCV in Pakistan. STUDY DESIGN We used a decision tree-analytic model from a governmental (formal healthcare sector) perspective. STUDY SETTING Individuals were assumed to be initially screened with an anti-HCV test at home, followed by POC nucleic acid test (NAT) at nearby district hospitals or followed by NAT at centralised laboratories. PARTICIPANTS We included the general testing population for chronic HCV in Pakistan. INTERVENTION Screening with an anti-HCV antibody test (Anti-HCV) followed by either POC NAT (Anti-HCV-POC), or reference laboratory NAT (Anti-HCV-CEN), was compared, using data from published literature and the Pakistan Ministry of Health. MEASURES Outcome measures included: number of HCV infections identified per year, percentage of individuals correctly classified, total costs, average costs per individual tested, and cost-effectiveness (assessed as cost per additional HCV infection identified). Sensitivity analysis was also performed. RESULTS At a national level (25 million annual screening tests), the Anti-HCV-CEN strategy would identify 142 406 more HCV infections in 1 year and increase correct classification of individuals by 0.57% compared with the Anti-HCV-POC strategy. The total annual cost of HCV testing was reduced using the Anti-HCV-CEN strategy by US$7.68 million (US$0.31/person). Thus, incrementally, the Anti-HCV-CEN strategy costs less and identifies more HCV infections than Anti-HCV-POC. The incremental difference in HCV infections identified was most sensitive to the probability of loss to follow-up (for POC confirmatory NAT). CONCLUSIONS Anti-HCV-CEN would provide the best value for money when scaling up HCV testing in Pakistan.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The effect of long-term exposure to antiretroviral therapy (ART) on hypertension in sub-Saharan Africa remains unclear. We aimed to determine the prevalence and incidence of hypertension in people living with HIV (PLWH) with more than 10 years of ART in Uganda. METHODS The analysis was performed within a cohort of adult PLWH with more than 10 years of ART at an HIV clinic in Kampala, Uganda. Participants were eligible for this analysis if they had ≥2 follow-up visits. Hypertension was defined as two consecutive systolic blood pressure (SBP) measures greater than 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure (DBP) greater than 90 mmHg, and/or documented diagnosis and/or the initiation of antihypertensives. We determined the proportion of PLWH with hypertension at baseline and used multivariable logistic regression to determine the factors associated with prevalent hypertension. To determine the incidence of hypertension, follow-up began from the cohort baseline date and was censored at the last clinic visit or date of the event, whichever occurred earlier. Multivariable Poisson regression was used to determine the adjusted incidence rate ratios (aIRR) of hypertension according to demographic, ART, and clinical characteristics. RESULTS Of the 1000 ALT participants, 970 (97%) had ≥2 follow-up visits, and 237 (24.4%) had hypertension at baseline. The odds of prevalent hypertension were 1.18 for every 5-year increase in age (adjusted odds ratio (aOR) 1.18, 95% CI 1.10-1.34) and were higher among males (aOR 1.70, 95% CI 1.20-2.34), participants with diabetes mellitus (aOR 2.37, 95% CI 1.10-4.01), obesity (aOR 1.99, 95% CI 1.08-3.60), high cholesterol (aOR 1.47, 95% CI 1.16-2.01), and those with prior exposure to stavudine (aOR 2.10, 95% CI 1.35-3.52), or nevirapine (aOR 1.90, 95% CI 1.25-3.01). Of the 733 participants without hypertension at baseline, 116 (15.83%) developed hypertension during 4671.3 person-years of follow-up (incidence rate 24.8 per 1000 person-years; 95% CI 20.7-29.8). The factors associated with incident hypertension were obesity (adjusted incidence rate ratio (aIRR) 1.80, 95% CI 1.40-2.81), older age (aIRR 1.12 per 5-year increase in age, 95% CI 1.10,1.25), and renal insufficiency (aIRR1.80, 95% CI 1.40-2.81). CONCLUSION The prevalence and incidence of hypertension were high in this heavily treated PLWH cohort. Therefore, with increasing ART coverage, HIV programs in SSA should strengthen the screening for hypertension in heavily treated PLWH.

Abstract
Approximately 80% of primary healthcare facilities in China were ready to deliver hepatitis care services by 2021. This study aimed to assess hepatitis B and C test uptake, identify the factors associated with testing and determine the predictors of hepatitis stigma among primary care patients. We conducted a cross-sectional survey among patients seeking care in the family medicine and primary care unit of the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital, China. Participants were 30 years or older and had not tested for HBV and HCV in the preceding 12 months. Test uptake was defined as self-reported previous HBV and HCV testing. Descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, forward multivariable logistic regression and stepwise multiple linear regression were conducted, and a p-value <.05 was deemed statistically significant. A total of 750 eligible patients completed the survey, and 54.5% (404 ± 0.9) were between 30 and 40 years old. Most participants were heterosexuals 98.0% (n = 735), female 57.5% (n = 431), married 78.3% (587) and earned ≤1500 USD per month 54.4% (n = 408). A 66.1% (n = 496) and 13.7% (n = 103) self-reported previous HBV and HCV testing, respectively, and 62% (n = 468) were vaccinated. HCV testing was associated with HBV testing (aOR = 13.7, 95% CI:2.1-91.5); and HBV testing was associated with family history of HBV (aOR = 2.4, 95%CI:1.1-5.5). Overall hepatitis stigma was about average and decreased with family history of HBV (p = .017). In conclusion, HCV testing uptake among primary care patients was low and needs to be further promoted. Integrating HBV and HCV testing interventions and fostering family-based support for disclosure could effectively improve testing uptake.

Abstract
Introduction Infection by the hepatitis C virus (HCV) is an important cause of chronic liver disease, considered a public health problem worldwide with high morbidity and mortality due to limited access to diagnostic tests in developing countries. Only a small percentage know their infection status and receive timely treatment. It is critical to make diagnostic tests for HCV infection accessible and to provide timely treatment, which not only reduces the spread of infection but also stops the progression of HCV disease without symptoms. Objective To determine the prevalence of chronic infection by HCV in patients with risk factors by using rapid tests in Cartagena, Colombia, and describe their epidemiological characteristics. Methodology A cross-sectional descriptive observational study was carried out on asymptomatic adults with risk factors for HCV infection in the city of Cartagena between December 2017 and November 2019. A rapid immunochromatographic test was performed to detect antibodies, characterizing the population. Results In total, 1,023 patients were identified who met the inclusion criteria, 58.5% women and 41.4% men, obtaining nine positive results, confirming chronic infection with viral load for HCV, finding seven cases of genotype 1b and two genotype 1a. Conclusion In our study, a prevalence of hepatitis C infection of 0.9% was found in asymptomatic individuals with risk factors, which allows us to deduce that the active search for cases in risk groups constitutes a pillar for the identification of the disease, the initiation of antiviral therapy, and decreased morbidity and mortality.

Abstract
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections occur in approximately 3% of the world population. The development of an enhanced and extensive-scale screening is required to accomplish the World Health Organization's (WHO) goal of eliminating HCV as a public health problem by 2030. However, standard testing methods are time-consuming, expensive, and challenging to deploy in remote and underdeveloped areas. Therefore, a cost-effective, rapid, and accurate point-of-care (POC) diagnostic test is needed to properly manage the disease and reduce the economic burden caused by high case numbers. Herein, we present a fully automated reverse-transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP)-based molecular diagnostic set-up for rapid HCV detection. The set-up consists of an automated disposable microfluidic chip, a small surface heater, and a reusable magnetic actuation platform. The microfluidic chip contains multiple chambers in which the plasma sample is processed. The system utilizes SYBR green dye to detect the amplification product with the naked eye. The efficiency of the microfluidic chip was tested with human plasma samples spiked with HCV virions, and the limit of detection observed was 500 virions/mL within 45 min. The entire virus detection process was executed inside a uniquely designed, inexpensive, disposable, and self-driven microfluidic chip with high sensitivity and specificity.

Abstract
The International Liver Association recommends the use of accurate and sensitive molecular methods for determination of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA levels in plasma or serum of chronic HBsAg carriers. The level of HBV replication represents the strongest predictive biomarker associated with disease progression and long-term outcome of chronic HBV infection. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the ability to the new Alinity m System to detect and quantify HBV DNA in plasma and whole blood collected on dried blood spots (DBS). Paired plasma and DBS samples from patients chronically infected with various HBV genotypes were tested in parallel for HBV DNA detection and quantification. There is a linear relationship between HBV DNA levels measured in plasma samples using the Alinity m HBV assay and the Xpert HBV viral load assay, used for comparison. A slight deviation (0.03 ± 0.31 log IU/mL) was observed within the quantitative range. In DBS, HBV DNA levels closely correlated with levels measured in plasma. All patients had detectable and quantifiable HBV DNA by DBS testing, except for one patient with a plasma HBV DNA level above 2,000 IU/mL. In conclusion, the newly developed real-time PCR-based assay Alinity m HBV assay can correctly detect HBV DNA in DBS, especially for patients with blood HBV DNA levels above 2,000 IU/mL, and also accurately quantify HBV DNA in plasma samples. IMPORTANCE Hepatitis B virus is one of the most prevalent blood-borne viruses affecting the liver and causing acute and chronic hepatitis. Only a small proportion of people with HBV infection are diagnosed. HBV DNA measurement is critical in clinical practice for the diagnosis and treatment decisions of patients requiring antiviral therapy. Dried blood spot (DBS) collection provides a simple, practical, and acceptable alternative to venous blood collection, especially in community settings. We have demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity for HBV DNA detection in DBS compared to plasma samples, especially when using clinically relevant cutoffs of 2,000 and 20,000 IU/mL. Results support the use of DBS in community-based settings.

Abstract
The expression of various forms of hepatitis B virus (HBV) surface proteins regulates the release of mature virion, but whether they affect the release of other incomplete viral particles, such as naked capsid, is not clear. Here, by stable overexpression of large or middle/small hepatitis B surface proteins (LHBs, M/SHBs) in HepAD38 cells, we evaluated their effects on the release of complete and incomplete viral particles. Overproduction of LHBs inhibited the release of all surface proteins, which increased the ratio of naked capsids/virions. This effect was accompanied by the elevated extracellular HBV RNA. On the other hand, overexpression of M/SHBs greatly improved the secretion of enveloped viral and subviral particles. In situ visualization of viral DNA and LHBs revealed intracellular retention of mature virions when LHBs were overexpressed. These results indicate that the molecular decision on secretion of enveloped or unenveloped viral particles is modulated by the intracellular ratio of large, middle and small surface antigens. This mechanism may be relevant in the progression and resolution of HBV-induced chronic liver disease.

Abstract
BACKGROUND: 40% of hepatitis B carriers have no knowledge of their diagnosis. A prior study in British Columbia suggested high rates of hepatitis B among immigrants. The authors undertook a large-scale screening study to validate these rates. METHODS: Attendees at Asian health fairs without knowledge of their hepatitis B status participated. They completed a questionnaire, and blood was drawn for HBV serologies. Active HBV was defined as HBV surface antigen positive. RESULTS: Of 2,726 patients, 1,704 (62.5%) were female and 1,022 (37.5%) male. Mean age was 62.7 ± 22.1 years, and mean time of residing in Canada was 27.5 ± 15.3 years. Most patients originated from China (1,042 patients, 38.2%) and Hong Kong (871, 31.2%). 56 patients tested positive (seroprevalence rate 2.05%, 95% CI 1.52%–2.59%). Most seropositive patients were from China (28 patients, 50.0%). Mean time of residence in Canada for seropositive patients (23.8 ± 2.1 years) was less than seronegative patients (27.6 ± 0.3 years) ( p = 0.06). There was a trend towards association of seropositivity with time of residence in Canada (OR 0.98, 95% CI 0.96–1.00, p = 0.09). 8 (14.3%) seropositive patients did not have family doctors, compared with 128 (4.8%) seronegative patients. Lack of a family doctor was strongly associated with seropositivity (OR 3.31, 95% CI 1.32–7.25, χ2 = 10.42, p = 0.001). INTERPRETATION: The authors have shown that high risk immigrant populations may have seroprevalence rates as high as 2,700 per 100,000. Lack of a family physician was associated with seropositivity. These results should be used to design improved outreach programs.

Abstract
Hepatitis B infection affects millions of people globally, partly due to its high degree of transmissibility and asymptomatic nature. This study was aimed at identifying prevailing epidemiological factors associated with HBV infection and testing uptake in the South West region of Cameroon. This hospital-based case-control study enrolled HBV infected participants and "healthy" controls ≥18 years old. Venous blood collected from participants was used to conduct HBV panel test (HBsAg, anti-HBs, HBeAg, anti-HBe, anti-HBc). Data on demographic and behavioral risk factors as well as reasons for taking the HBV test for the first time were collected using a questionnaire. A total of 424 participants were enrolled (212 "healthy" controls and 212 HBV infected cases). Male sex (odds ratio [OR] = 2.08, p = 0.010), ≤ secondary education level (OR = 4.83, p<0.001), low-income level (OR = 3.79, p<0.001), rural settlement (OR = 2.17, p = 0.031), history of sexually transmitted infections (STI) (OR = 4.24, p<0.001) and ignorance of sexual partners HBsAg status (OR = 2.70, p = 0.003) all had an independent and significant association with HBV infection. Top 3 reasons for doing HBsAg test were free screening (40.3%), blood donation (15.0%) and administrative requirements (14.9%). HBV testing uptake and early detection can be improved if more sensitization and free/opportunistic screenings are implemented. A significant drop in the cost of HBV test could encourage more people to get tested.

Abstract
Hepatitis C is a leading cause of chronic hepatitis and causes severe health problems in areas where prevalence is high. Ghana is noted for a relatively high sero-prevalence of hepatitis C virus infection. However, there is very little data on prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) among children in Ghana, and what data is available indicates very low prevalence rate. We conducted a cross-sectional study to determine the sero-prevalence and associated pre-disposing risk factor for HCV infection among children attending the Princes Marie Louis Children´s Hospital in Accra. Two hundred archived blood samples from a previous study were retrieved and tested for the presence of HCV antibodies using a dipstick test kit. Out of the 200 samples tested, one (1) tested positive for HCV antibodies giving a prevalence of 0.5% among the study group. The results show that there is potentially a very low prevalence of hepatitis C among Ghanaian children. Hence, the higher prevalence among adults usually seen is often due to infection later in life. Obtaining an appropriate vaccine early in life could thus help prevent people from getting infected in later life.

Hepatitis C Virus Core Antigen as an Alternative to RNA in the Assessment of Response to Treatment with Direct-acting Oral Antivirals. HEPATITIS MONTHLY 2021. Abstract
Background: Affordable and effective diagnostic and treatment monitoring algorithms are urgently needed to achieve the global elimination of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Methods: A total of 274 patients were treated with direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) in the Spanish Hospital of Albacete between 2004 and 2020. This study compared the enzyme-immunoassay technique for HCV core antigen (HCVcAg) with the determination of RNA of HCV (HCV RNA) by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in monitoring treatment with DAA, setting the lower limit of detection of HCVcAg < 3 fmol/L and RNA < 10 IU/mL. In all cases, the P value of differences associated with the contrast test was less than or equal to 0.05. Results: We evaluated the viral loads of our patients before treatment, during their treatment, and after its completion. The HCV RNA quantification at diagnosis was 2309327 IU/mL. The mean HCVcAg load was 5972 fmol/L. There was a strong correlation between HCVcAg levels and RNA levels with a Spearman rho of 0.832 (P < 0.01). The HCVcAg sensitivity at diagnosis was 99%, but the specificity could not be calculated because there were no true negatives or false positives at this point. Twelve weeks after treatment, in patients with treatment failure, we obtained a mean of 19084 IU/mL for RNA, while for HCVcAg, the mean was 103 fmol/L. At this time point, we also found a strong correlation between HCVcAg levels and HCV RNA levels with a Spearman rho of 0.775 (P < 0.01). Finally, the virological cure was achieved in 99% of our patients. The results for sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) were 100%, 99.87%, 86.33%, and 100%, respectively. Conclusions: HCVcAg determination is an excellent alternative to HCV RNA in the assessment of treatment response. This is particularly relevant in lower- and middle-income countries and resource-limited settings where the high cost of labor, equipment, and reagents can prohibit molecular testing.

Abstract
Aim: HCV diagnosis will become the bottleneck in eliminating hepatitis C. Simple, accurate and cost-effective testing strategies are urgently needed to improve hepatitis C screening and diagnosis. Materials & methods: Performance of seven rapid diagnostic tests (RDT) have been assessed in a large series (n = 498) of serum or plasma specimens collected in France and in Cameroon. Results: Specificity varied from 96.1 to 100%. The clinical sensitivity, compared with immunoassays as the reference, was high for all seven RDT (97.2-100%). The Multisure HCV antibody assay and OraQuick HCV rapid antibody test reached sensitivity ≥99%. Conclusion: A number of RDT may be suitable for WHO prequalification and may be implemented in the framework of large-scale low-cost treatment programs to achieve the WHO viral hepatitis objectives by 2030.

Abstract
The global burden of viral hepatitis remains substantial despite advances in antiviral therapy and effective vaccines. There are five hepatitis viruses (hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E). Mortality related to hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus infections is among the top four global infectious diseases, together with human immunodeficiency virus infection, malaria, and tuberculosis. Of those deaths, approximately 47% are attributable to hepatitis B virus, 48% to hepatitis C virus and the remainder to hepatitis A virus and hepatitis E virus. Ending hepatitis epidemics as a major public health threat is feasible with the tools and approaches currently available. Effective vaccines are available for preventing viral hepatitis A, B and E infections. New oral, well-tolerated treatment regimens for chronic hepatitis C patients can achieve cure rates of over 90%. Effective treatment is also available for people with chronic hepatitis B virus infection; although for most people such treatment needs to be long-term, and recent advanced aim at a “functional cure” of hepatitis B. In this review article, we discuss the most recent advances of the diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis.

Abstract
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection large-scale diagnosis and treatment are hampered by lack of a simple, rapid, and reliable point-of-care (POC) test, which poses a challenge for the elimination of hepatitis C as a public health problem. This study aimed to evaluate Cepheid Xpert® HCV Viral Load performance in comparison with the Roche Cobas® TaqMan® HCV Test using serum samples of HCV-infected patients in Indonesia. Viral load quantification was performed on 243 anti-HCV positive patients’ samples using both Xpert HCV VL and Roche HCV tests, followed by HCV genotyping by reverse hybridization. Strength of the relationship between the assays was measured by Pearson correlation coefficient, while level of agreement was analyzed by Deming regression and Bland–Altman plot analysis using log10-transformed viral load values. Quantifiable viral load was detected in 180/243 (74.1%), with Xpert HCV VL sensitivity of 100% (95% CI 0.98, 1.00) and specificity of 98.4% (95% CI 0.91, 0.99) based on the Roche HCV test, while HCV genotypes were determined in 172/180 (95.6%) samples. There was a good correlation between both assays (r = 0.97, P < 0.001), overall and per genotype, with good concordance by Deming regression and a mean difference of −0.25 log10 IU/mL (95% CI −0.33, −0.18) by Bland–Altman plot analysis. Xpert HCV VL test was demonstrated as a POC platform with good performance for HCV diagnosis and treatment decision that would be beneficial for decentralized services in resource-limited areas. HCV testing sites, alongside additional GeneXpert modular systems distributed toward the fight against COVID-19, could ensure some continuity, once this pandemic is controlled.

Abstract
Hepatitis B remains a major global public health challenge, with particularly high prevalence in medically disadvantaged western Pacific and African regions. Although clinically available technologies for the qPCR detection of HBV are well established, research on point-of-care testing has not progressed substantially. The development of a rapid, accurate point-of-care test is essential for the prevention and control of hepatitis B in medically disadvantaged rural areas. The development of the CRISPR/Cas system in nucleic acid detection has allowed for pathogen point-of-care detection. Here, we developed a rapid and accurate point-of-care assay for HBV based on LAMP-Cas12a. It innovatively solves the problem of point-of-care testing in 10 min, particularly the problem of sample nucleic acid extraction. Based on LAMP-Cas12a, visualization of the assay results is presented by both a fluorescent readout and by lateral flow test strips. The lateral flow test strip technology can achieve results visible to the naked eye, while fluorescence readout can achieve real-time high-sensitivity detection. The fluorescent readout-based Cas12a assay can achieve HBV detection with a limit of detection of 1 copy/μL within 13 min, while the lateral flow test strip technique only takes 20 min. In the evaluation of 73 clinical samples, the sensitivity and specificity of both the fluorescence readout and lateral flow test strip method were 100%, and the results of the assay were fully comparable to qPCR. The LAMP-Cas12a-based HBV assay relies on minimal equipment to provide rapid, accurate test results and low costs, providing significant practical value for point-of-care HBV detection.

Abstract
Introduction: Liver diseases caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV) are pandemic infectious diseases that seriously endanger human health, conventional diagnosis methods can not meet the requirements in resource-limited areas. The point of acre detection methods can easily resolve those problems. Herein, we review the most recent advances in POC-based hepatitis B detection methods and present some recommendations for future development. It aims to provide ideas for future research.Areas covered: Epidemiological data on Hepatitis B, conventional diagnostic methods for hepatitis B detection, some latest point of care detection methods for hepatitis B detection and list out the recommendations for future development.Expert opinion: This manuscript summarized traditional biomarkers of different hepatitis B stages and recent-developed POCT platforms (including microfluidic platforms and lateral-flow strips) and discuss the challenges associated with their use. Some emerging biomarkers that can be used in hepatitis B diagnosis are also listed. This manuscript has certain guiding significance to the development of hepatitis B detection.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The opioid epidemic across the U.S. poses an array of public health concerns, especially HCV transmission. HCV is now widely curable, yet incident rates are increasing due to the opioid epidemic. Despite the established trajectory from oral prescription opioids (OPOs) to opioid use disorder (OUD), OUD to injection drug use (IDU), and IDU to hepatitis C virus (HCV), OPOs are not a defined risk factor (RF) for HCV infection. The objective of this study was to observe rates of HCV testing and Ab reactivity (HCVAb+) in patients receiving OPOs to substantiate them as a RF, ultimately contributing to HCV elimination. METHODS Data from MedStar Health patients receiving OPOs from 1/2017 to 12/2018 were collected and analyzed using chi-squared or student t-tests and logistic regression for uni- or multi-variable analyses, respectively. Statistical significance was defined as P < .05; Epi Info and SAS v 9·4 were used for statistical analyses; IRB approval was received. RESULTS There were 115 415 individuals prescribed OPOs over the study period. In this population, 8.6% (932) were HCVAb+ when tested and not previously diagnosed (10 900); 3.4% (3893) had an OUD diagnosis, 20.6% (803) of whom were HCV tested; 25.4% (361) of all HCVAb+ (1421) had an OUD diagnosis. OUD (ORadj 8.53 [7.22-10.07]) was an independent predictor of HCVAb+ in this population. CONCLUSIONS (1) In a large population prescribed oral opioids, HCVAb+ was 8.6%, higher than our previously published data (2.5%) and the US rate (1.7%); (2) only 20% of patients diagnosed with OUD were tested; and (3) only 25% of HCVAb+ patients were classified with OUD; this suggests underreporting of OUD in this population. Primary Care and Community Health Recommendations: (1) Re-testing for HCV in patients taking OPOs; (2) increased HCV testing among OUD patients; and (3) improved surveillance and reporting of OUD.

Abstract
Introduction hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is one of the most common viral hepatitis in Africa. Rapid diagnostic test (RDT) is a useful tool to identify antibody anti-HCV in point of care. In this study, we decided to determine prevalence of cases with positive rapid diagnostic test of HCV infection. Methods this cross-sectional study was conducted in a polyclinic, Accra, Ghana. Using convenience sampling, 728 participants were screened with blood-based RDT and interviewed about personal risk behaviors for transmission of HCV. Data was entered in SPSS version 18 and analyzed. Results there was 1.6% positive RDT in our participants. The mean age of them was 29.58 ± 12.31 years old that were younger than the participants with negative RDT (p: 0.027). The rate of positive test was 66.67% in women and 33.33% in men. There was a negative association between age and RDT positive (aOR: 0.91, 95%CI 0.85-0.96). The odds of positive RDT in married participants was 6.32 fold others after adjusting model (p: 0.014). There were no important risk behavior for HCV, except one person with history of contacting blood or needles. Conclusion the risk of positive RDT has a reverse relationship with aging and also it has an increase in married individuals. Therefore preventive education and screening for HCV should be a priority in young and middle-aged adults because of more sexual activity.

Abstract
Purpose Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is considered a major public health concern for Sierra Leone. Although medical students are at increased occupational risk for HBV infection, little is known about the burden of HBV infection amongst medical students in Sierra Leone. Methods As part of a screening and vaccination campaign, a cross-sectional study on prevalence of HBV among medical students in Freetown was conducted in December 2019. Antigen point of care test was used for HBV screening and data on students' risk history and demographics were collected. Additionally, for students diagnosed positive with HBV, linkage to care and initial assessment data after diagnosis was collected from the HBV clinic they were linked to. Results One hundred and fifty-seven medical students (77.3%) from year three to six were screened for HBV infection. Almost all students (98.1%) had never been vaccinated against HBV and more than half (56.7%) reported a history of needle stick injuries. The prevalence of HBV infection (Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) positivity) was 10.2% (n = 16). Among HBsAg positive students, 75% (n = 12) were successfully enrolled at chronic HBV clinic within three months of diagnosis. Only one student had evidence of liver cirrhosis and was started on treatment with Tenofovir diproxil fumarate. Conclusion The prevalence of HBV infection is high among medical students in Sierra Leone. Despite the high prevalence, most of the students linked to care had no evidence of severe liver disease.

Abstract
Background Injecting drug use is a major driver of hepatitis C virus (HCV) spread worldwide, and the World Health Organization (WHO) has identified people who inject drugs (PWID) as a key population to target for HCV screening and care. Point-of-care (POC) hepatitis C tests and dried blood spot (DBS) sampling offer benefits for the management of patients with HCV infection by increasing HCV testing and linkage to care in different nonclinical settings. The aims of this prospective study were to evaluate the feasibility and the acceptability of use HCV ribonucleic acid (RNA) POC and fingerstick DBS testing in social-medical risk-reduction centers and to describe the cascade of care among PWID in France. Methods Between June 2018 and February 2019, 89 consecutive HCV-seropositive PWID attending 2 drug treatment services and 1 supervised consumption room in inner Paris were invited to participate in further evaluation, undergoing a clinical review with a liver assessment and blood tests including fingerstick capillary whole blood POC HCV RNA testing and fingerstick DBS sampling. Results Of the 89 participants enrolled, HCV RNA was detected in 34 (38.6%) participants. Fingerstick whole blood POC RNA testing and HCV RNA detection from DBS sample were feasible and acceptable among PWID with no major difference in terms of HCV RNA detection rate. Overall, 16 participants received pan-genotypic antiviral treatment. The proportion of PWID with sustained virologic response at 12 weeks was 81.2%, with data for 3 patients still pending. Conclusions One-step screening strategy based on the detection of HCV RNA would engage people in care for treatment scale-up and HCV elimination.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Undetectable or low-level hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA and drug resistance mutations in patients may increase the risk of HBV transmission or cause active viral replication and other clinical problems. Here, we established a highly sensitive and practical method for HBV and drug resistance detection using a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) -based CRISPR-Cas13a detection system (referred to as PCR-CRISPR) and evaluated its detection capability using clinical samples. METHODS Specific CRISPR RNAs (crRNAs) are designed for HBV DNA detection and YMDD (tyrosine-methionine-aspartate-aspartate) variant identification. The HBV DNA was detected in 312 serum samples for HBV diagnosis using quantification PCR (qPCR) and PCR-CRISPR. Additionally, 424 serum samples for YMDD testing were detected by qPCR, direct sequencing, and our assay. RESULTS Using PCR-CRISPR, one copy per test of HBV DNA was detected with HBV-1 crRNA in 15 min after PCR amplification. Consistent results with qPCR were observed for 302 samples, while the remaining 10 samples with low-level HBV DNA were detectable by PCR-CRISPR and droplet digital PCR but not by qPCR. PCR-CRISPR diagnosed all 412 drug-resistant samples detected by the YMDD detection qPCR kit and direct sequencing, as well as the other 12 drug-resistant samples with low-level HBV DNA undetectable by qPCR and direct sequencing. CONCLUSIONS We developed a novel PCR-CRISPR method for highly sensitive and specific detection of HBV DNA and drug resistance mutations. One copy per test for HBV DNA and YMDD drug resistance mutations could be detected. This method has wide application prospects for the early detection of HBV infection, drug resistance monitoring and treatment guidance.

Abstract
The nonstructural (NS) protein NS3/4A protease is a critical factor for hepatitis C virus (HCV) maturation that requires activation by NS4A. Synthetic peptide mutants of NS4A were found to inhibit NS3 function. The bridging from peptide inhibitors to heterocyclic peptidomimetics of NS4A has not been considered in the literature and, therefore, we decided to explore this strategy for developing a new class of NS3 inhibitors. In this report, a structure-based design approach was used to convert the bound form of NS4A into 1H-imidazole-2,5-dicarboxamide derivatives as first generation peptidomimetics. This scaffold mimics the buried amino acid sequence Ile-25` to Arg-28` at the core of NS4A21`-33` needed to activate the NS3 protease. Some of the synthesized compounds (Coded MOC) were able to compete with and displace NS4A21`-33` for binding to NS3. For instance, N5-(4-guanidinobutyl)-N2-(n-hexyl)-1H-imidazole-2,5-dicarboxamide (MOC-24) inhibited the binding of NS4A21`-33` with a competition half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 1.9 ± 0.12 µM in a fluorescence anisotropy assay and stabilized the denaturation of NS3 by increasing the aggregation temperature (40% compared to NS4A21`-33`). MOC-24 also inhibited NS3 protease activity in a fluorometric assay. Molecular dynamics simulations were conducted to rationalize the differences in structure-activity relationship (SAR) between the active MOC-24 and the inactive MOC-26. Our data show that MOC compounds are possibly the first examples of NS4A peptidomimetics that have demonstrated promising activities against NS3 proteins.

Abstract
Stigma against people with hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a barrier to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of HBV in China. Our study examined an innovative intervention to reduce HBV stigma among men who have sex with men (MSM) in China. We extracted data from a randomized controlled trial conducted in May 2018, where the intervention consisted of crowdsourced images and videos to promote viral hepatitis testing and reduce HBV stigma. HBV stigma was assessed using a 20-item scale at baseline and four weeks post-enrolment. Participants were divided into three groups based on their exposure to intervention: full exposure, partial exposure and no exposure. Linear regression was used to determine associations between baseline stigma and participant characteristics. Data from 470 MSM were analysed. Mean participant age was 25 years old and 56% had less education than a college bachelor's degree. Full exposure to intervention was associated with significant stigma reduction (adjusted beta = -3.49; 95% CI = -6.11 to -0.87; P = .01), while partial exposure led to stigma reduction that was not statistically significant. The mean stigma score was 50.6 (SD ± 14.7) at baseline, and stigma was most prominent regarding physical contact with HBV carriers. Greater HBV stigma was associated with not having a recent doctor's visit (adjusted beta = 4.35, 95% CI = 0.19 to 8.52; P = .04). In conclusion, crowdsourcing can decrease HBV stigma among MSM in China and may be useful in anti-stigma campaigns for vulnerable populations in low- and middle-income countries.

Abstract
Background In Oman, the prevalence of hepatitis B (HBV) infection is 5.8%, with 2.8–7.1% HBV carriers. Hepatitis C (HCV) prevalence among Omanis is 0.41%. A total of 2917 human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections were notified among Omanis by 2017. This study was performed as there was no data on the prevalence of HIV, HBV and HCV in sickle cell disease (SCD) patients from Oman. Study Design and Methods In this retrospective, cross-sectional study, medical records of all SCD patients who attended our hospital between 2011 to 2017 were retrieved from the hospital information system. Following approval by the local medical research and ethics committee, data on HIV, HBV, and HCV exposure were recorded to estimate the prevalence. Results Among a total of 1000 SCD patients (491 males and 509 females), twenty-three (2.3%) patients showed positive serology for hepatitis B surface antigen (HbsAg), of whom sixteen (1.6%) were HBV DNA positive. 126 (12.6%) had anti-HCV antibodies (anti-HCV), of whom fifty-two (5.2%) were HCV RNA positive. None of the patients had positive serology for HIV. A normal liver was observed on abdominal ultrasound in 788 (78.8%) patients, whereas 208 (20.8%) had hepatomegaly, and 4 (0.4%) had liver cirrhosis. Thirty-six (3.6%) patients died, but in only two patients, the mortality was due to cirrhosis of liver. Conclusions This study provides the first comprehensive data on the prevalence of HBV and HCV infections among Omani SCD patients exposed to blood transfusions. Reassuringly, no case with HIV was observed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sensitive and accurate hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA detection and quantification are essential to diagnose and monitor the virological response to antiviral treatment and the emergence of resistance. OBJECTIVE AND STUDY DESIGN The aim of this study was to assess the ability of the new Xpert HCV Viral Load assay to accurately detect and quantify HCV RNA in serum and in whole blood collected on dried blood spot (DBS). Serum and whole blood from a large series of patients chronically infected with different HCV genotypes were tested in parallel for HCV RNA detection and quantification. RESULTS A significant relationship between HCV RNA levels measured with the Xpert HCV Viral Load assay and the two commercial real-time PCR comparators (Abbott RealTime HCV test and Cobas AmpliPrep/Cobas Taqman HCV 2.0 test) was found in serum as well as in whole blood specimens. CONCLUSIONS The Xpert HCV Viral Load assay accurately quantifies HCV RNA regardless of the HCV genotype and can thus confidently be used to detect active HCV infection in serum and in whole blood specimens.

Abstract
Background Mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B virus (HBV) is the main cause of new infections worldwide. We aimed at assessing the percentage of infants successfully immunized in two major hospitals in Vientiane, Lao PDR where HB immune globulin (HBIg) is not available. Methods We studied a prospective cohort of chronically HBV infected pregnant women and their infants until 6 months post-partum from January 2015 to March 2017. All infants received HB vaccine at birth and 6, 10 and 14 weeks thereafter, and HBV status was assessed at 6 months of age. HBV surface gene sequencing was performed in infected mother-infant pairs. Results Of 153 mothers with HB surface antigen (HBsAg), 60 (39%) had detectable serum HBe antigen (HBeAg). HBeAg positive pregnant women were younger than those negative (median age 26 versus 28 years; p = 0.02) and had a significantly higher HBV viral load at delivery (median 8.0 versus 4.0 log10 IU/mL, p <0.001). Among the 120 infants assessed at 6 months of age, 5 (4%) were positive for HBsAg and had detectable HBV viral load by polymerase chain reaction. All were born to mothers with HBeAg and viral load >8.5 log10 IU/mL. However, only four (3.3%, 95% CI 0.5% to 7.0%) had a virus strain closely related to their mother’s strain. HBV surface gene mutations were detected in 4 of the 5 infected infants. Anti-HBs antibody levels were below 10 IU/L in 10 (9%) uninfected infants at 6 months of age. Conclusions Mother-to-child transmission occurred less frequently than expected without the use of HBIg. Adding HBIg and/or maternal antiviral prophylaxis may have prevented some of these infections. The observation of unsatisfactory levels of anti-HBs antibodies in 9% of the uninfected infants at 6 months highlights the need for improvement of the universal immunization procedures.

Abstract
Introduction: The improvement of number of people diagnosed with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is crucial to reach the WHO objectives for eliminating viral hepatitis by 2030. Alternatives to classical HCV virological tests using serum or plasma taken from venous puncture including point-of-care (POC) tests and dried blood spot (DBS) are being considered for HCV screening, diagnosis, and monitoring. Reflex nucleic acid testing and HCV core antigen test have the potential to simplify diagnostic algorithm, increase diagnosis and facilitate linkage to care. Areas covered: This review examines strategies for the improvement of HCV testing and diagnosis including alternatives to classical HCV virological tests and approaches for simplified diagnostic algorithms. Expert opinion: Serological and molecular POC tests are now available for HCV antibody and HCV RNA detections in less than 20 and 60, respectively. DBS offers the main advantage to store desiccated blood that can be easily transported to reference centers where state-of-the-art molecular and serological diagnostic tests are used. Simplifications of diagnostic algorithms are urgently needed to enhance HCV testing, linkage to care and treatment.

Abstract
An advanced and fully automated chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassay for the hepatitis C virus core antigen (HCVcAg) was recently developed in Japan. We aimed to evaluate its clinical utility. The new Fujirebio assay (Lumipulse Presto HCVcAg [LP-Presto]) was compared with 2 conventional assays (Lumipulse Ortho HCVcAg [LP-Ortho] and Abbott's Architect HCVcAg). Basic assessments of LP-Presto (reproducibility, stability, range of quantitation, and specificity) were performed on 220 frozen sera (83 positive and 137 negative by LP-Ortho) and 206 fresh sera (all negative by LP-Ortho). Correlation analysis was performed and the rates of concordance for each assay were determined. Additionally, the frozen sera of 42 hyperimmunoglobulinemia patients, including 3 unmeasurable by LP-Ortho, were tested by LP-Presto. All the basic assessments of LP-Presto were consistent with the results of LP-Ortho and Architect. The concordance rate between LP-Presto and LP-Ortho for the 220 frozen sera was 99.5% (219/220), and that between LP-Presto and Architect was 99.1% (218/220). LP-Presto (HCVcAg cut-off value; 20 fmol/L) was fully consistent with LP-Ortho (100%), which found 343 sera negative for HCVcAg. All 42 hyperimmunoglobulinemic sera were measurable using LP-Presto. In conclusion, the performance of LP-Presto was rapid and reliable, and nonspecific test results due to hyperimmunoglobulinemia were reduced when LP-Presto was used. Therefore, LP-Presto is a high-quality HCVcAg assay that shows promising applications.

Abstract
Extracellular HBV RNA has been detected in both HBV-replicating cell culture media and sera from chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients, but its exact origin and composition remain controversial. Here, we demonstrated that extracellular HBV RNA species were of heterogeneous lengths, ranging from the length of pregenomic RNA to a few hundred nucleotides. In cell models, these RNAs were predominantly associated with naked capsids, although virions also harbored a minority of them. Moreover, HBV RNAs in hepatitis B patients' blood circulation were localized in unenveloped capsids in the form of capsid-antibody complexes (CACs) and in virions. Furthermore, we showed that extracellular HBV RNAs could serve as the template for viral DNA synthesis. In conclusion, extracellular HBV RNAs mainly consist of pgRNA or the pgRNA species degraded by the RNase H domain of the polymerase in the process of viral DNA synthesis and circulate as CACs and virions. Their presence in blood circulation of CHB patients may be exploited to develop novel biomarkers for HBV persistence.IMPORTANCE Although increasing evidence suggests the presence of extracellular HBV RNA species, their origin and molecular forms are still under debate. In addition to the infectious virions, HBV is known to secrete several species of incomplete viral particles, including hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) particles, naked capsids, and empty virions, during its replication cycle. Here, we demonstrated that extracellular HBV RNAs were associated with naked capsids and virions in HepAD38 cells. Interestingly, we found that unenveloped capsids circulate in the blood of hepatitis B patients in the form of CACs and, together with virions, serve as vehicles carrying these RNA molecules. Moreover, extracellular HBV RNAs are heterogeneous in length and represent either pregenomic RNA (pgRNA) or products of incomplete reverse transcription during viral replication. These findings provide a conceptual basis for further application of extracellular RNA species as novel biomarkers for HBV persistence.

Abstract
Context Patients with thalassaemia are at risk of infections such as hepatitis C virus (HCV) due to their repeated blood transfusions; meanwhile, the treatment of thalassaemia patients who had developed HCV infection is a controversial issue. Aims Although the effectiveness of direct-acting antivirals on HCV infection has been confirmed, their side-effects as well as effects on haematological factors due to the resultant need for blood transfusion remain to be further understood. Materials and Methods In this study, 61 patients with major beta thalassaemia and HCV infection, and who had a history of interferon treatment failure were examined. The patients underwent a 24-week treatment with sofosbuvir (SOF) and daclatasvir (DAC). Sustained virological response 12 was used to assess response to treatment. At the end of the study, the need for blood transfusion and serum ferritin was evaluated. Results About 98.4% of the patients responded to the treatment, and only one patient with genotype 1b did not respond positively. No significant complications necessitating treatment cessation were observed, and all the patients tolerated the treatment well. The level of liver enzymes showed a significant reduction 12 weeks after the treatment. The need for blood transfusions in patients before treatment was averagely 1.595 ± 0.65 bag per month, in which 1.593 ± 0.64 bags were received after treatment (P = 0.9). This regimen did not affect the amount of anaemia in patients and did not differentiate the need for blood transfusions. The rate of haemoglobin before treatment was 9.5 ± 1.42 g/dl, which reached 9.6 ± 1.6 g/dl after treatment (P = 0.54). Ferritin levels decreased significantly (from 1948.08 ± 1539.54 to 1315.73 ± 1207.67 ng/ml) (P = 0.001) in the patients after the treatment. Conclusion Combination of SOF and DAC is an effective and tolerable treatment regimen without affect on the amount of anaemia in patients and did not differentiate the need for blood transfusions.

Abstract
Background Street children are forced to spend a lot of time away from their homes and some of them do not have homes at all, due to economic and family problems, which makes them exposed to many health problems, such as the hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Iran, like many other countries in the world, experiences the burden of street children, however, the rate of HCV among street children is virtually unknown. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of HCV among street children in Iran. Main body This systematic review and meta-analysis was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. The study protocol of this review was registered in PROSPERO under identification term CRD42018082336. A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify published studies reporting on the prevalence of HCV among street children in Iran. Several international scholarly databases, including Web of Science, PubMed®/MEDLINE®, Embase, Scopus®, Google Scholar and Directory of Open Access Journals, as well as Iranian databases such as MagIran and Barakathns were searched. Studies published between 1988 and December 2017 with any of the following keywords were selected: (street OR homeless OR labour) AND (children OR child OR infant) AND (hepatitis C OR hepatitis C virus OR HCV OR viral hepatitis OR hepatitis OR hepacivirus) AND Iran. Moreover, a grey literature search was performed in order to obtain other potentially relevant studies. The search was carried out without any language restrictions. Four studies, surveying a total of 1691 street children, conducted between 2006 and 2017 were found to be eligible for inclusion in the review and therefore analysed. Three studies were conducted in Tehran and one in Isfahan. The prevalence of HCV among street children in Iran was found to be high, at 2.4% (95% CI: 1.8–3.3). Conclusions Since the prevalence of HCV among street children in Iran is quite high, health decision- and policy-makers should pay more attention to street children and widen support channels, both social and economic. Further studies should be conducted among street children in different cities of Iran to add to the knowledge base of HCV among street children in the country. The health system should provide facilities for street children to be screened to quickly diagnose illnesses and prevent them from developing complications. Abstract
BACKGROUND Implementation of affordable methods for HCV viremia is a key priority for identifying individuals who need treatment among persons screened positive for HCV antibodies. Different HCV PCR assays for use on open polyvalent PCR platforms are currently commercially available but studies evaluating the performances of these nucleic acid tests are needed. OBJECTIVES In the present study, we evaluated the analytical and clinical performances of a recently developed HCV RNA PCR assay for detection and quantification of HCV viremia. STUDY DESIGN In this study the Biocentric Generic HCV PCR was compared to the Roche Cobas AmpliPrep/Cobas TaqMan HCV RNA assay. Analytical and clinical performances was evaluated on reference materials and HCV plasma samples collected in 141 patients attending at the Montpellier University Hospital in France. Field evaluation was performed on samples collected in 185 patients attending at Medical Laboratory, Institut Pasteur in Cambodia. RESULTS The lower limit of detection ranged from 50 HCV RNA IU/ml to 300 HCV RNA IU/ml using four different Diasorin and Qiagen automated or manual extraction methods. The specificity (CI) and sensitivity of the assay were 100% (92.5-100), and 98.7% (92.3-99.9), respectively, in France, and 100% (95.5-100), and 100% (94.4-100%), respectively, in Cambodia. Bland-Altman analysis shown good agreement between the two assays including for genotypes 6 HCV, which represent the majority of HCV isolates in Cambodia. CONCLUSIONS The Biocentric Generic HCV assay has shown overall satisfactory analytical performances and a close agreement to the Cobas HCV assay on clinical specimens collected in France and Cambodia. There is an urgent need to further evaluate commercial assays dedicated to HCV detection and quantification using open polyvalent PCR platforms in different settings.
