Abstract
Introduction Bacteria and archaea are important components in shallow lake ecosystems and are crucial for biogeochemical cycling. While the submerged macrophyte loss is widespread in shallow lakes, the effect on the bacteria and archaea in the sediment and water is not yet widely understood. Methods In this study, 16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to explore the bacteria and archaea in samples taken from the sediment and water in the submerged macrophyte abundant (MA) and submerged macrophyte loss (ML) areas of Caohai Lake, Guizhou, China. Results The results showed that the dominant bacterial phyla were Proteobacteria and Chloroflexi in the sediment; the dominant phyla were Proteobacteria, Actinobacteriota, and Bacteroidota in the water. The dominant archaea in sediment and water were the same, in the order of Crenarchaeota, Thermoplasmatota, and Halobacterota. Non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMDS) analyses showed that bacterial and archaeal community structures in the water were significantly affected by the loss of submerged macrophytes, but not by significant changes in the sediment. This suggests that the loss of submerged macrophytes has a stronger effect on the bacterial and archaeal community structures in water than in sediment. Furthermore, plant biomass (PB) was the key factor significantly influencing the bacterial community structure in water, while total nitrogen (TN) was the main factor significantly influencing the archaeal community structure in water. The loss of submerged macrophytes did not significantly affect the alpha diversity of the bacterial and archaeal communities in either the sediment or water. Based on network analyses, we found that the loss of submerged macrophytes reduced the connectivity and complexity of bacterial patterns in sediment and water. For archaea, network associations were stronger for MA network than for ML network in sediment, but network complexity for archaea in water was not significantly different between the two areas. Discussion This study assesses the impacts of submerged macrophyte loss on bacteria and archaea in lakes from microbial perspective, which can help to provide further theoretical basis for microbiological research and submerged macrophytes restoration in shallow lakes.

Abstract
Epiphytic bacteria constitute a vital component of aquatic ecosystems, pivotal in regulating elemental cycling. Despite their significance, the diversity and functions of epiphytic bacterial communities adhering to various submerged macrophytes remain largely unexplored. In this study, we employed a metagenomic approach to investigate the diversity and function of epiphytic bacterial communities associated with six submerged macrophytes: Ceratophyllum demersum, Hydrilla verticillata, Myriophyllum verticillatum, Potamogeton lucens, Stuckenia pectinata, and Najas marina. The results revealed that the predominant epiphytic bacterial species for each plant type included Pseudomonas spp., Microbacterium spp., and Stenotrophomonas rhizophila. Multiple comparisons and linear discriminant analysis effect size indicated a significant divergence in the community composition of epiphytic bacteria among the six submerged macrophytes, with 0.3-1% of species uniquely identified. Epiphytic bacterial richness associated with S. pectinata significantly differed from that of both C. demersum and H. verticillata, although no significant differences were observed in diversity and evenness. Functionally, notable variations were observed in the relative abundances of genes associated with carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycling within epiphytic bacterial communities on the submerged macrophyte hosts. Among these communities, H. verticillata exhibited enrichment in genes related to the 3-hydroxypropionate bicycle and nitrogen assimilation, translocation, and denitrification. Conversely, M. verticillatum showcased enrichment in genes linked to the reductive citric acid cycle (Arnon-Buchanan cycle), reductive pentose phosphate cycle (Calvin cycle), polyphosphate degradation, and organic nitrogen metabolism. In summary, our findings offer valuable insights into the diversity and function of epiphytic bacteria on submerged macrophyte leaves, shedding light on their roles in lake ecosystems.

Abstract
The vertical profile of optical turbulence is a key factor in the performance design of astronomical telescopes and adaptive optics instruments. As site-testing campaigns are extremely expensive, the selection of appropriate spatial resolution data and estimation methods is extremely important. This study investigated the effect of using different methods (Dewan, HMNSP99, Thorpe method) to estimate the refractive index structure constant (C n2) using different resolution data (5 m, 25 m, ERA5 data) in Huaihua, Hunan. Compared with Dewan, HMNSP99 for estimating C n2 using 5 m and 25 m resolution data, the Thorpe method almost always shows the best performance, with RXY above 0.75 and lower RMSE and MRE between estimated and measured C n2. The results of C n2 estimation using HMNSP99 at different resolution data varied widely, indicating that HMNSP99 is more sensitive to the data resolution and the temperature gradient is more sensitive to the resolution. Using ERA5 data, the two methods of estimating C n2 using Dewan and HMNSP99 have close results. It indicates that the wind shear is the main factor when the spatial resolution of the data is reduced to a certain degree, and the contribution of temperature gradient is small in the high altitude turbulence.

Abstract
Understanding turbulence in the free atmosphere is important for analyzing atmospheric pollution, forecasting weather, and light transmission. In this paper, we have tried to estimate the atmospheric refractive index structure constant C n2, the turbulent dissipation rate ε, and the turbulent diffusion coefficient K simultaneously during the experiment time over Lhasa, using the sounding data coupled with the Thorpe method. The result shows that the C n2 estimation gives a better performance with the correlation coefficients and the average relative error when compared with C n2 estimated by Dewan and HMNSP99. Besides this, the measured and estimated C n2, estimated ε, and K all show larger values in the troposphere, especially near the tropopause. It is worth noting that C n2 and ε are similar in terms of height distribution. These attempts at estimation all suggest that the Thorpe method can be used to estimate the intensity of turbulence in the free atmosphere over Lhasa.

Abstract
Arsenic (As) is ubiquitous in geothermal fluids, which threatens both water supply safety and local ecology. The co-occurrence of sulfur (S) and As increases the complexity of As migration and transformation in hot springs. Microorganisms play important roles in As-S transformation processes. In the present study, two Tibetan alkaline hot springs (designated Gulu [GL] and Daba [DB]) with different total As concentrations (0.88 mg/L and 12.42 mg/L, respectively) and different sulfide/As ratios (3.97 and 0.008, respectively) were selected for investigating interactions between As-S geochemistry and microbial communities along the outflow channels. The results showed that As-S transformation processes were similar, although concentrations and percentages of As and S species differed between the two hot springs. Thioarsenates were detected at the vents of the hot springs (18% and 0.32%, respectively), and were desulfurized to arsenite along the drainage channel. Arsenite was finally oxidized to arsenate (532 μg/L and 12,700 μg/L, respectively). Monothioarsenate, total As, and sulfate were the key factors shaping the changes in microbial communities with geochemical gradients. The relative abundances of sulfur reduction genes (dsrAB) and arsenate reduction genes (arsC) were higher in upstream portions of GL explaining high thiolation. Arsenite oxidation genes (aoxAB) were relatively abundant in downstream parts of GL and at the vent of DB explaining low thiolation. Sulfur oxidation genes (soxABXYZ) were abundant in GL and DB. Putative sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), such as Desulfuromusa and Clostridium, might be involved in forming thioarsenates by producing reduced S for chemical reactions with arsenite. Sulfur-oxidizing bacteria (SOB), such as Elioraea, Pseudoxanthomonas and Pseudomonas, and arsenite-oxidizing bacteria (AsOB) such as Thermus, Sulfurihydrogenibium and Hydrogenophaga, may be responsible for the oxidation of As-bound S, thereby desulfurizing thioarsenates, forming arsenite and, by further abiotic or microbial oxidation, arsenate. This study improves our understanding of As and S biogeochemistry in hot springs.

Abstract
Background Lichen sclerosus (LS) is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis that occurs mainly in the anogenital area and causes itching, soreness, atrophy and scarring, which may result in burying of the clitoris in females and phimosis in males. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been suggested during the past years as an alternative non-invasive treatment for LS, but there is still no meta-analysis to evaluate its efficacy and safety. Aims To assess the efficacy and safety of 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) for treatment of LS. Methods We undertook a meta-analysis using the methodology of the Cochrane Collaboration and the guideline of PRISMA. A systematic literature search was carried out in PubMed, EMBASE, The Cochrane Library, WanFang Data, CBM and CNKI up to 30 June 2020. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were compared with ALA-PDT, corticosteroids or tacrolimus ointments for treating LS. The risk of bias for each trial was rated according to the Cochrane Handbook. Risk ratios (RR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were utilized to express the comparative outcomes. Results We included 4 RCTs with a total of 184 participants. The meta-analysis showed ALA-PDT was better than topical ointments in treating LS (total effective rate: RR 1.38 [95% CI 1.19-1.60]). Conclusions The current limited evidence supports the efficacy and safety of ALA-PDT in treating LS. The adverse reactions included pain, swelling, redness and exfoliation which would decrease with the continuing sessions of treatment. Further high-qualified RCTs of large samples are necessarily needed.

Abstract
Arsenic is a ubiquitous constituent in geothermal fluids. Thermophiles represented by Thermus play vital roles in its transformation in geothermal fluids. In this study, two Thermus tengchongensis strains, named as 15Y and 15W, were isolated from arsenic-rich geothermal springs and found different arsenite oxidation behaviors with different oxidation strategies. Arsenite oxidation of both strains occurred at different growth stages, and two enzyme-catalyzed reaction kinetic models were observed. The arsenite oxidase of Thermus strain 15W performed better oxidation activity, exhibiting typical Michaelis–Menten kinetics. The kinetic parameter of arsenite oxidation in whole cell showed a Vmax of 18.48 μM min–1 and KM of 343 μM. Both of them possessed the arsenite oxidase-coding genes aioB and aioA. However, the expression of gene aioBA was constitutive in strain 15W, whereas it was induced by arsenite in strain 15Y. Furthermore, strain 15Y harbored an intact aio operon including the regulatory gene of the ArsR family, whereas a genetic inversion of an around 128-kbp fragment produced the inactivation of this regulator in strain 15W, leading to the constitutive expression of aioBA genes. This study provides a valuable insight into the adaption of thermophiles to extreme environments.

Abstract
A model for estimating astronomical seeing at Kunlun Station (Dome A, Antarctica) is proposed. This model is based on the Tatarskii equation, using the wind shear and temperature gradient as inputs, and a seeing model depending directly on the weather data is provided. The seeing and near-ground weather data to build and validate the proposed seeing model were measured at Dome A during the summer of 2019. Two calculation methods were tested from the measured weather data relating the wind shear and temperature gradient to a combination of the two levels for the boundary layer. Both methods performed well, with correlation coefficients higher than 0.77. The model can capture the main seeing trends in which the seeing becomes small when weak wind speed and strong temperature inversion occur inside the boundary layer.

Abstract
Scar formation and chronic ulcers can develop following a skin injury. They are the result of the over- or underproduction of collagen. It is very important to evaluate the quality and quantity of the collagen that is produced during wound healing, especially with respect to its structure, as these factors are very important to a complicated outcome. However, there is no standard way to quantitatively analyse dermal collagen. As prior work characterised some potentially fractal properties of collagen, it was hypothesised that collagen structure could be evaluated with fractal dimension analysis. Small-angle X-ray scattering technology (SAXS) was used to evaluate the dermis of rats exposed to graft harvest, burn, and diabetic pathologic states. It was found that almost all collagen structures could be quantitatively measured with fractal dimension analysis. Further, there were significant differences in the three-dimensional (3-D) structure of normal collagen versus that measured in pathologic tissues. There was a significant difference in the 3-D structure of collagen at different stages of healing. The findings of this work suggest that fractal analysis is a good tool for wound healing analysis, and that quantitative collagen analysis is very useful for assessing the structure of dermal collagen.

Abstract
Dissimilatory arsenate reduction from arsenic (As)-bearing minerals into highly mobile arsenite is one of the key mechanisms of As release into groundwater. To detect the microbial diversity and As-metabolizing gene clusters of indigenous arsenate-reducing bacteria in high As groundwater in the Hetao Plain of Inner Mongolia, China, three anaerobic arsenate-reducing bacteria were isolated and arrA and arsC gene-based clone libraries of four in situ groundwater samples were constructed. The strains IMARCUG-11(G-11), IMARCUG-C1(G-C1) and IMARCUG-12(G-12) were phylogenetically belonged to genera Paraclostridium, Citrobacter and Klebsiella, respectively. They could reduce >99% of 1 mM arsenate under anoxic conditions with lactate as a carbon source in 60 h, 72 h and 84 h, respectively. As far as we know, this was the first report of arsenate reduction by genus Paraclostridium. Compared with strain G-11 (arsC) and G-C1 (arsRBC), strain G-12 contained two incomplete ars operons (operon1: arsABC, operon2: arsBC), indicating that these strains might present different strategies to resist As toxicity. Phylogenetic analysis illuminating by the arrA genes showed that in situ arsenate-reducing bacterial communities were diverse and mainly composed of Desulfobacterales (53%, dominated by Geobacter), Betaproteobacteria (12%), and unidentified groups (35%). Based on the arsC gene analysis, the indigenous arsenate-reducing bacterial communities were mainly affiliated with Omnitrophica (88%) and Deltaproteobacteria (11%, dominated by Geobacter and Syntrophobacterales). Results of this study expanded our understanding of indigenous arsenic-reducing bacteria in high As groundwater aquifers.

Abstract
A simple physics-based method for estimating optical turbulence (Cn2) within the surface layer over snow and ice is proposed, using the Tatarski equation with an improved outer scale model. This improved outer scale model mainly requires the calculation of the wind shear and temperature gradients. Based on the measurements from a mobile polar atmospheric parameter measurement system at the Antarctic Taishan Station in 2014, Cn2 was estimated using two methods: the Tatarski equation and the Monin-Obukhov similarity (MOS) theory. Compared with 16 days of measurements from a micro-thermometer, the correlation coefficient of log10(Cn2) estimated by the Tatarski equation is 0.72, which is a slightly more accurate Cn2 variation in trend and magnitude than the MOS theory. The results suggest that this simple method has potential value for the forecasting applications of optical turbulence.

Abstract
An optical turbulence ($C_n^2$) was found to be concentrated predominantly in the thin surface layer (SL) above the Antarctic Plateau. We present an estimation of the behavior of the SL $C_n^2$ during the summer time over the entire Antarctic Plateau, using the polar-optimized version of the Weather Research and Forecast model (Polar WRF) coupled with the Monin-Obukhov similarity theory. The results show that the $C_n^2$ is affected by the sunlight direction and terrain height. The $C_n^2$ minimum occurs sometime around the morning and evening transitions, when the condition of neutral stability is achieved inside the SL. These $C_n^2$ minima may be attributed to the relatively weaker thermal convection resulting from a small temperature difference. The simulated $C_n^2$ data coincide well with the measurements taken at the Antarctic Taishan Station using a micro-thermometer and sonic anemometer; the data are also in agreement with the seeing values obtained from a differential image motion monitor. In addition, the Polar WRF captured the $C_n^2$ minimum more precisely compared to the standard WRF.

Abstract
Based on the statistical study of meteorological balloons equipped with thermosondes, a new model that estimates the profile of the refractive index structure constant (Cn2) is proposed. Utilizing temperature, pressure, and wind shear as inputs, this new approach can estimate vertical profiles of Cn2 with 100 m vertical resolution. We used four outer scale models (Thorpe, HMNSP99, Dewan, and our proposed model) on data acquired from Rongcheng (Shandong Peninsula) and Maoming (Guangdong Province) to estimate the Cn2 profiles and compared the results with the measured Cn2 profile. The proposed method outperformed the other three models, yielding an estimation profile that matched well with the measured median Cn2 profiles, with an average relative error generally less than 3.5% and a mean correlation coefficient larger than 0.72 in Maoming, an average relative error generally less than 3.4% and a mean correlation coefficient larger than 0.84 in Rongcheng. The proposed outer scale model also shows good performance in estimating integrated atmospheric parameters.

Abstract
The phytogenic algicide sanguinarine shows strong inhibitory effects on some bloom-forming cyanobacteria and exhibits great potential in cyanobacterial bloom mitigation. To evaluate the possible ecological effects of sanguinarine on microalgae, the effects and possible mechanisms of sanguinarine on the competition between bloom-forming cyanobacterium Raphidiopsis raciborskii (formerly named Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii) and green alga Scenedesmus obliquus were investigated through co-culture competition test and comparative toxicological study including growth characteristics, chlorophyll fluorescence transients, activities of antioxidant enzymes, and lipid peroxidation. The results of Raphidiopsis-Scenedesmus co-culture competition test showed that sanguinarine decreased the competition ability of R. raciborskii, which benefitted S. obliquus in winning the competition. Toxicological studies have shown that sanguinarine exhibited high inhibitory effects on the growth and photosynthesis of R. raciborskii but no obvious toxicity on S. obliquus at concentrations of no more than 80 μg L-1. Oxidative damage partially contributed but was not the primary mechanism for the toxicity of sanguinarine on R. raciborskii. The results presented in this study indicate that sanguinarine may be a good algicidal candidate in mitigation of Raphidiopsis-based water bloom.

Abstract
The distribution of optical turbulence (Cn2 profiles) is the fundamental parameter closely related to the design and application of optoelectronic systems. Since systematic direct measurements of optical turbulence for many climates and seasons are not available, it is useful to estimate Cn2 effectively from the routine meteorological parameters. The Cn2 profiles are estimated by routine meteorological parameters based on the Tatarskii model, and the estimated results are compared with the corresponding radiosonde measurements from the field campaigns at Rongcheng (122.37∘E, 37.15∘N), Taizhou (121.42∘E, 28.62∘N), and Dachaidan (95.35∘E, 37.74∘N) in China. The agreement between the estimation model and the measurement is very close, except for a portion of the atmosphere where it showed considerable difference. Additionally, statistical operators are used to quantify the performance of the estimated model, and the statistical results also show that the estimated and measured Cn2 profiles are consistent well. Furthermore, the integrated parameters (such as the Fried parameter, r0) from radiosonde measurement are 7.92 cm, 5.39 cm, and 3.68 cm at Rongcheng, Taizhou, and Dachaidan, respectively. Therefore, the Cn2 profiles and their characteristics in these typical climate sites provide useful information to assess the effect of laser transmission in the atmosphere, which are usually used in the design of optoelectronic systems and astronomical site testing.

Abstract
Although various factors were reported to be related to post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN), studies based on adequate and comprehensive data were absent. Data was extracted from cases of hospitalized patients with herpes zoster in dermatology department, Sichuan hospital of traditional Chinese medicine range from December, 2011 to February, 2018, and then cleaned to build prediction model with TREENET algorithms. Following evaluated the prediction model by ROC and confusion matrix, variables importance ranking and variables dependency analysis were performed, resulting in the importance ranking of factors for PHN and the dependency between factors and PHN. Based on strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, 1303 (571 PHN and 732 normal controls) cases and 2958 indicators were selected. Model evaluation showed high ROC value (training sample = 0.985, test samples = 0.752) and high accuracy value (70.27%), which indicated that the model was predictive. After variables importance ranking and variables dependency analysis, 62 variables in the model were associated with the occurrence of PHN. Our study identified 62 variables related to PHN and revealed that various variables were the important risk factors for PHN, including age, MCHC, sodium and UA.

Abstract
The factors that control arsenic (As) mobilization by dissimilatory iron reduction (DIR) are complicated. The association between As mobilization and extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) of dissimilatory iron reducing bacteria (DIRB) remained unclear. In this study, three DIRB were isolated from high arsenic groundwater to understand the effects of EPS on As mobilization. In the laboratory settings, strain Klebsiella oxytoca IR-ZA released As into aqueous phase from As-bearing ferrihydrite, while strain Shewanella putrefaciens IAR-S1 and S. xiamenensis IR-S2 re-sequestrated As by forming secondary minerals during ferrihydrite reduction. Characterization of EPS contents with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy and high-performance liquid chromatography suggested that mannan and succinic acid were the main different EPS contents of the DIRB. The biomineralization processes were tightly regulated by EPS compositions. Mannan secreted by IAR-S1 and IR-S2 promoted while succinic acid secreted by IR-ZA suppressed the biomineralization and As immobilization. Energy-dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy mapping indicated that As in the secondary minerals was wrapped with EPS. X-ray diffraction and room temperature Mössbauer spectroscopy showed these secondary minerals were vivianite and magnetite, respectively. The amount of As mobilized into aqueous phase was strongly affected by available anions (H2PO4- and HCO3-). Our results indicated that the EPS of DIRB significantly influenced As mobilization.

Abstract
Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) has been widely used in various lesions. This study aimed to explore the biological effects of negative pressure on the polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs), macrophages, and epidermal keratinocyte cells involved in wound healing. PMNs differentiated from HL-60, macrophages were derived from THP-1 monocytes, and keratinocytes were cultured in vitro, and they were treated with 0, -0.03 mp, and -0.05 mp, respectively. Cell ultrastructure; viability; apoptosis; and protein factors such as tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interferon-γ (IFN-γ), epidermal growth factor (EGF), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), interleukin-17 (IL-17), and cell division cycle 42 (Cdc42) were determined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), CCK8, flow cytometry (FCM), ELISA, and simple Western assays, respectively. After negative pressure stimulation, the cell ultrastructure of PMNs and macrophages cells was presented with a marked increase of lysosomes and a relative decrease of mitochondria. In addition, the cell viability was enhanced in PMNs and macrophages in a pressure-dependent manner and apoptosis ratios were significantly reduced in PMNs and macrophages. In addition, under -0.05 negative pressure, IFN-γ and IL-17 were significantly increased in PMNs or macrophages. Moreover, increased EGF and EGFR and Cdc42 levels in keratinocytes induced by the -0.05 mpa were detected, indicating that the migration chemotaxis of keratinocyte cells was enhanced. Negative pressure might promote cell proliferation, accelerate inflammatory responses, and promote epithelialisation during wound healing by increasing IFN-γ, IL-17, Cdc42, EGF, and EGFR in PMNs, macrophages, or keratinocytes under different negative pressures.

Abstract
It is worth highlighting that, for the first time to the best of our knowledge, vertical profiles of atmospheric parameters and $C_n^2$ were measured at Lhasa, south of the Tibetan Plateau, using balloon-borne radiosondes. Based on the measurements, two new statistical models (Lhasa HMN and Lhasa Dewan) for estimating turbulence strength are proposed. Attention has been paid to evaluate the reliability of the two models to reconstruct vertical profiles of $C_n^2$ from a statistical perspective. The statistical analyses presenting the Lhasa HMN model are accompanied with lower bias, root mean square error (RMSE), and bias-corrected RMSE ($\sigma$) than those of the Lhasa Dewan model, which implies the Lhasa HMN model can better reveal the nature of turbulence characteristics of Lhasa influenced by unique local weather conditions. In addition, the comparison between the Lhasa HMN model and measurements in calculating integrated astroclimatic parameters is carried out, and the result suggests that the performance of the Lhasa HMN model is reliable and satisfactory. The new reliable $C_n^2$ model offers new insight into the characteristics of optical turbulence at Lhasa and provides support for pursuing astronomical site selection in the Tibetan Plateau.

Abstract
Because systematic direct measurements of the refractive index structure constant ($C_n^2$Cn2) are not available for many climates and seasons, we developed an indirect method to forecast optical turbulence. The $C_n^2$Cn2 was estimated from a backpropagation neural network optimized by an adaptive niche-genetic algorithm. The estimated result was validated against the corresponding six-day $C_n^2$Cn2 data from a field campaign of the 30th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition. We also compared the correlation coefficient, root mean square error, and systematic error bias of the proposed model with the weather research and forecasting model. The results suggest that our model shows better correlation and reliably estimates $C_n^2$Cn2.

Abstract
The vertical distributions of optical turbulence (C n2 profiles) are a major factor in defining the capabilities of ground-based telescopes and interferometers. As site-testing campaigns are extremely expensive and instruments only provide the local atmospheric parameter, atmospheric modeling might represent an advance prediction result in astronomical sites. The key meteorological parameters and the integrated astroclimatic parameters (Fried parameter r0, seeing ɛ, isoplanatic angle θAO and wavefront coherence time τAO) related to the C n2 profiles above the Tibetan Plateau are investigated for astronomical applications by using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. Radiosonde measurements from a field campaign at Lhasa station above the Tibetan Plateau are used to quantify the ability of this model. The results show that the C n2 profile decreases rapidly in the surface layer, increasing with height from the boundary layer to low stratosphere, and decreases gradually in the high free atmosphere. From the whole campaign measurements above the Tibetan Plateau, the mean r0 is 8.64 cm, the mean ɛ is 1.55'', the mean θAO is 0.42'' and the mean τAO is 1.89 ms, and the comparison with the other world's leading observatory sites have been presented. In addition, such as the bias and the root-mean-squared error are used to quantify the performance of the WRF model. In spite of the model performance in reconstructing the meteorological parameters is reasonable in general, the uncertainty in quantifying the C n2 profiles and the integrated parameters are not negligible in some cases. The main results of this study tell us that the WRF model could provide a useful resource to design, monitor the performance of, and even optimize the operation of sophisticated Adaptive Optics (AO) systems.

Abstract
Oil and gas exploration and development extends from medium-low temperatures to high and ultra-high temperatures with the development of the oil and gas industry. High-temperature deep carbonate reservoir acid fracturing has introduced more stringent requirements, a slower chemical reaction rate and excellent dissolution performance of acid systems, which means that the acid system should still have a certain dissolution ability above 135 °C. A novel water-soluble encapsulated acid (EA), dual controlled by hydrogen ion concentration and temperature, was developed to exploit ultra-high-temperature carbonate reservoirs. The encapsulating material was insoluble and isolated the internal solid acid at high H+ ion concentrations and low temperatures, but the solid acid was released as the encapsulating material was dissolved at low H+ ion concentrations and high temperatures. This unique performance was characterized by ESEM, TGA, FTIR, NMR, mechanical performance, solubility, etching performance, and etching fracture conductivity. All the scientific results show that this EA can be applied as a long-distance etching acid controlled by H+ ion concentration and temperature, without the need for a thickener and emulsifier to reduce the reaction between the rock and the acid near the wellbore. The test results demonstrated that the solid acid had good thermal stability at 135 °C, the encapsulation material was almost insoluble in high acid concentrations (>14%) at any temperature, and the solid acid began to release when the concentration of hydrochloric acid was less than 14% and the temperature was higher than 95 °C. The rock etching and dissolution behavior was better than that of HCl with the same concentration and the etching fracture conductivity was improved by supplementing the consumption of H+ ions when etching rock. The encapsulating material is completely dissolved after acid fracturing, avoiding reservoir damage by the residue. The described EA is a promising approach for application in acid fracturing of carbonate reservoirs at ultra-high temperature (>135 °C).

Abstract
The incidence of chronic wounds has been increasing over the past 20 years. However, the standardized diagnosis and treatment practice of chronic refractory wounds have not been established. In addition, the properties of the wound are characterized by morphology and thus correct description of the wound in medical history collection plays a vital role, which directly affects the definitive diagnosis. To develop more accurate format of clinical history record which can correctly reflect a patient's course and treatment progress, and to standardize the medical history record of chronic refractory wounds, at the national or regional level, we designed the WoundCareLog APP. It acts as a recording and communication tool for wound healing specialists at all levels of medical institutions in China. The WoundCareLog APP is fully compatible to meet the criteria and requirements of conventional medical records by embedding 9 modules. In addition, the demands for morphological description of wounds in wound healing diagnosis and treatment have been fulfilled by enroll of digital imaging technology to overcome the inadequacies of traditional medical history records.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate whether adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) from allogeneic diabetic rats can promote wound healing in diabetic rats or not and the mechanism. Methods: (1) Fifty-six male Wistar rats aged 12-16 weeks were divided into diabetic group and healthy group according to the random number table (the same grouping method below), with 28 rats in each group. Rats in healthy group were not treated with any treatment. Rats in diabetic group were injected with 10 g/L streptozotocin 60 mg/kg intraperitoneally in one time to establish the diabetic model. Four rats in diabetic group and 4 rats in healthy group were selected according to the random number table, and the adipose tissue in the inguinal region was taken to culture and purify ASCs, so as to obtain healthy rat-derived ASCs (hereinafter referred to as nASCs) and diabetic rat-derived ASCs (hereinafter referred to as dASCs). The third passage of nASCs (n=3) and dASCs (n=3) were taken, and the positive expression rates of cell surface differentiation antigens CD105, CD31, CD34, and CD44 were detected with flow cytometer for defining ASCs purity. (2) The rest 24 rats in healthy group and 24 rats in diabetic group were used to make three round full-thickness skin defect wounds with a diameter of 12 mm on the back of each rat. Immediately after injury, phosphate buffer saline (PBS), nASCs of 2×10(7)/mL, and dASCs of 2×10(7)/mL each in the volume of 0.5 mL were subcutaneously injected into three wounds and their margins of each rat, respectively. On post injury day (PID) 1, 3, 7, and 12, 6 rats in each group were selected according to the random number table to calculate the wound area, and the wound tissue was stained with hematoxylin-eosin to observe the histological morphology of the wound. (3) Human ASCs (hASCs) were subcultured, and the 4th to 7th passage of cells were used for the subsequent experiments. The hASCs were divided into 7 groups, with 12 samples in each group. Cells in blank control group were cultured with mesenchymal stem cell culture medium, and cells in simple advanced glycation end products (AGEs) group, simple protein group, simple high glucose group, simple high osmotic pressure group, AGEs-high glucose combination group, and protein-high osmotic pressure combination group were cultured with mesenchymal stem cell culture medium containing a final mass concentration of 100 mg/L AGEs, 100 mg/L bovine serum albumin (BSA), 28 mmol/L D-glucose, 28 mmol/L mannitol, 100 mg/L AGEs+ 28 mmol/L D-glucose, 100 mg/L BSA+ 28 mmol/L mannitol, respectively. Cell proliferation was detected by cell counting kit 8 at post culture hour (PCH) 2 and on post culture day (PCD) 2, 4 and 6. (4) The hASCs were divided into blank control group, simple AGE group, simple high glucose group, and AGE-high glucose combination group, with 12 samples in each group, which were treated the same as corresponding groups in experiment (3). On PCD 0, 2, 4, and 6, the positive expression rates of cell surface differentiation antigens CD105, CD44, and CD45 were detected by flow cytometer to estimate their homeostasis. (5) The hASCs were divided into AGE-high glucose combination group and protein-high osmotic pressure combination group, with 9 samples in each group, which were treated the same as corresponding groups in experiment (3). On PCD 2, 4, and 6, the expression of intracellular protein was detected by cyanine 3-streptavidin double-antibody sandwich technique. Data were processed with analysis of variance for factorial design, least significant difference test, and Bonferroni correction. Results: (1) The positive expression rates of CD44 in nASCs and dASCs were both higher than 96%, the positive expression rates of CD31 and CD34 were low, and the positive expression rates of CD105 were about 40%, which basically met the purity requirements. (2) The areas of wounds treated by three methods in rats of healthy group and diabetic group were similar on PID 1 (P>0.05). In healthy group, compared with (0.682 1±0.078 9), (0.314 3±0.113 7), and (0.064 3±0.002 1) cm(2) of the PBS-treated wounds in rats, the area of nASCs-treated wounds in rats decreased significantly on PID 3, 7, and 12 [(0.464 1±0.092 6), (0.223 9±0.072 7), and (0.034 3±0.012 5) cm(2), P<0.05], the area of dASCs-treated wounds in rats decreased significantly on PID 3 and 12 [(0.514 1±0.124 1) and (0.043 7±0.032 8) cm(2), P<0.05] but was not obviously changed on PID 7 [(0.274 2±0.062 5) cm(2), P>0.05]. Compared with those of the dASCs-treated wounds of rats within the same group, the area of the nASCs-treated wounds of rats in healthy group decreased significantly on PID 3 and 7 (P<0.05) but was not obviously changed on PID 12 (P>0.05). In diabetic group, compared with (0.853 5±0.204 8), (0.670 5±0.164 8), and (0.131 4±0.074 4) cm(2) of the PBS-treated wounds in rats, the area of nASCs-treated wounds in rats decreased significantly on PID 3, 7, and 12 [(0.633 4±0.132 5), (0.331 8±0.023 5), and (0.074 2±0.003 8) cm(2), P<0.05], the area of dASCs-treated wounds in rats decreased significantly on PID 3 [(0.773 6±0.182 2) cm(2), P<0.05] but was not obviously changed on PID 7 and 12 [(0.510 6±0.192 2) and (0.114 4±0.003 1) cm(2), P>0.05]. Compared with the dASCs-treated wounds of rats within the same group, the area of the nASCs-treated wounds of rats in diabetic group was not obviously changed on PID 3 and 7 (P>0.05) but decreased significantly on PID 12 (P<0.05). There was no obvious difference in histological morphology of the wounds treated with three methods in rats of each group on PID 1. On PID 3, a small amount of microvessels were formed in the wounds treated with nASCs and dASCs of rats in both groups, but microvessel formation was almost undetected in the PBS-treated wounds. On PID 7, more small blood vessels and fibroblasts (Fbs) were observed in the wounds treated with nASCs and dASCs of rats in both groups, but the small blood vessels and Fbs were slightly less in the PBS-treated wounds. On PID 12, the wounds treated with nASCs and dASCs of rats in the two groups were covered by epithelial tissue, the granulation tissue in the PBS-treated wounds of rats in healthy group was not obvious, and the PBS-treated wounds of rats in diabetic group were not completely epithelialized. (3) Compared with those of blank control group, the cell number of hASCs in simple AGEs group decreased significantly on PCD 2, 4, and 6 (P<0.05), which increased significantly on PCD 2 and 4 in simple high glucose group (P<0.05), and that in AGEs-high glucose combination group decreased significantly on PCD 4 and 6 (P<0.05). (4) Compared with that on PCD 4 within the same group, the positive expression rate of CD105 in hASCs decreased significantly in blank control group, simple AGEs group, and AGEs-high glucose combination group on PCD 6 (P<0.05). The positive expression rate of CD44 was higher than 95%, and that of CD45 was less than 2% in hASCs of each group at each time point. (5) Detection values of 7 proteins were located in the confidence interval. The expression levels of basic fibroblast growth factor and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 in hASCs of AGEs-high glucose combination group and protein-high osmotic pressure combination group showed increasing trend with the prolongation of culture time. The expression level of human monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1) in hASCs of AGEs-high glucose combination group showed increasing trend with the prolongation of culture time, while the expression level of growth-regulated oncogene (GRO) on PCD 6 was significantly higher than that on PCD 4 within the same group (P<0.05); the expression levels of MCP-1 and GRO in hASCs of protein-high osmotic pressure combination group showed decreasing trend with the prolongation of culture time. The expression level of follistatin in hASCs of protein-high osmotic pressure combination group decreased obviously on PCD 4, while that in hASCs of AGEs-high glucose combination group was significantly lower on PCD 6 than that on PCD 4 (P<0.05). The expression level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in hASCs of protein-high osmotic pressure combination group decreased gradually with the prolongation of culture time, while that in hASCs of AGEs-high glucose combination group on PCD 4 decreased significantly as compared with that on PCD 2 (P<0.05). The expression level of urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor in hASCs of protein-high osmotic pressure combination group on PCD 6 was significantly higher than that on PCD 4 within the same group (P<0.05) and that of AGEs-high glucose combination group on PCD 6 (P<0.05). Conclusions: Both nASCs and dASCs can promote wound healing in rats with simple defect injury, but dASCs have no significant effect on wound healing in rats with diabetes mellitus, which may be related to the inhibition of ASCs proliferation and the influence of high glucose and AGEs intervention on their homeostasis and secretory function.

Abstract
The correct thoughts and principles of diagnosis and treatment of chronic refractory wounds need to be formulated. Through the relevant domestic and international consensus and based on clinical experience, the Thoughts and principles of diagnosis and treatment of chronic refractory wounds in China is proposed. It is considered that in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic refractory wounds, in the case of fully understanding the patient's medical history, the following thoughts and principles should be complied in order. (1) Pay attention to the cleanliness of the wound after being cleaned. (2) Reasonably perform debridement to avoid being " excessive" or " not thorough". (3) Reasonably perform examination, diagnosis, and differential diagnosis of pathogenic factors. (4) Treat according to etiology. (5) Find comorbidities and prevent adverse outcomes. (6) Select the correct wound treatment method reasonably and timely. When the conservative wound care treatment is considered, pay attention to embodying the concept of etiological treatment, treat the wound according to the principles of safety, phase, selectivity, and effectiveness, and make a reasonable choice of continuing conservative treatment or surgical treatment in time after completing the preparation of the wound bed. When surgical treatment is considered, pay attention to the selection of reasonable surgical method and donor site, pay attention to the healing rate of surgical wound site and the outcome of donor site, and give reasonable protection to the wound site after surgery. (7) Carry out rehabilitation treatment after wound healing and related health education.

Abstract
Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a new class of RNAs that can be used as biomarkers in clinical blood samples. However, little is known about circRNAs' diagnostic values for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In this study, the hsa_circ_0054189, hsa_circ_0008675, hsa_circ_0082689, hsa_circ_0082688, hsa_circ_0010932, hsa_circ_0002473 and hsa_circ_0044235 in peripheral blood were determined by quantitative reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction (qRT–PCR). For hsa_circ_0044235, only one abnormal expression circRNAs in peripheral blood was selected as a targeted circRNA to explore the diagnostic value for RA. Our work demonstrated that the hsa_circ_0044235 in peripheral blood was decreased significantly in RA patients. The hsa_circ_0044235 in peripheral blood from RA patients did not correlate with C‐reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), rheumatoid factor (RF), anti‐citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA) or disease activity score 28 (DAS28). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis suggested that the hsa_circ_0044235 in peripheral blood has significant value in the diagnosis of RA. The risk score based on hsa_circ_0044235 in peripheral blood also distinguished significantly the patients with RA from systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). This study suggests that the hsa_circ_0044235 in peripheral blood may be a potential biomarker of patients with RA.

Abstract
PURPOSE To further study the mechanism of epithelization on the fascia side of the flap after surgical incision and the treatment of the negative pressure therapy. METHODS With the patients' informed consent, parts of tissue samples were obtained from a 51-year-old diabetic patient who was suffering lower extremity ulcers. The samples were processed with hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining and Masson trichrome staining. The keratin 19, keratin 15 and carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA) were immunohistochemically detected. RESULTS The results of HE staining showed that the specimen was divided into two regions, newborn area and original epithelial area. There were more inflammatory cells infiltrating in the dermis in the newborn epithelial area, compared with the original epithelial area. Cells in newborn epithelial area were more active and many dinuclear and polynuclear cells were observed in newborn epithelial area. But there were more cuticular layers and obvious rete pegs in original epithelial area. In addition, the cells with keratin 19 and CEA positive were found around hair follicle, while keratin 15 was negative. Masson trichrome staining showed that there was a lot of de novo collagen in newborn epithelial area. CONCLUSION Epidermal cells on the fascia side of the flap could be derived from the stem cells. Negative pressure wound therapy would attract not only cells but also other elements such as growth factors, cytokines, some nutrients and extracellular matrix. With the formation of the appropriate microenvironment after debridement, the migrated cells can grow, differentiate and spread, eventually leading to the epithelization on the fascia side of the flap in diabetic foot.

Abstract
Since systematic direct measurements of refractive index structure constant ( Cn2) for many climates and seasons are not available, an indirect approach is developed in which Cn2 is estimated from the mesoscale atmospheric model outputs. In previous work, we have presented an approach that a state-of-the-art mesoscale atmospheric model called Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model coupled with Monin-Obukhov Similarity (MOS) theory which can be used to estimate surface layer Cn2 over the ocean. Here this paper is focused on surface layer Cn2 over snow and sea ice, which is the extending of estimating surface layer Cn2 utilizing WRF model for ground-based optical application requirements. This powerful approach is validated against the corresponding 9-day Cn2 data from a field campaign of the 30th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition (CHINARE). We employ several statistical operators to assess how this approach performs. Besides, we present an independent analysis of this approach performance using the contingency tables. Such a method permits us to provide supplementary key information with respect to statistical operators. These methods make our analysis more robust and permit us to confirm the excellent performances of this approach. The reasonably good agreement in trend and magnitude is found between estimated values and measurements overall, and the estimated Cn2 values are even better than the ones obtained by this approach over the ocean surface layer. The encouraging performance of this approach has a concrete practical implementation of ground-based optical applications over snow and sea ice.

Abstract
The methods to obtain atmospheric refractive index structure constant (Cn2) by instrument measurement are limited spatially and temporally and they are more difficult and expensive over the ocean. It is useful to forecast Cn2 effectively from Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF) outputs. This paper introduces a method that WRF Model is used to forecast the routine meteorological parameters firstly, and then Cn2 is calculated based on these parameters by the Bulk model from the Monin-Obukhov similarity theory (MOST) over the ocean near-surface. The corresponding Cn2 values measured by the micro-thermometer which is placed on the ship are compared with the ones forecasted by WRF model to determine how this method performs. The result shows that the forecasted Cn2 is consistent with the measured Cn2 in trend and the order of magnitude as a whole, as well as the correlation coefficient is up to 77.57%. This method can forecast some essential aspects of Cn2 and almost always captures the correct magnitude of Cn2, which experiences fluctuations of two orders of magnitude. Thus, it seems to be a feasible and meaningful method that using WRF model to forecast near-surface Cn2 value over the ocean.

Abstract
SETTING Jiangxi, China. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the performance of the direct nitrate reductase assay (D-NRA) for rapid, low-cost detection of multidrug-resistant (MDR-) and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB) in high-burden, resource-limited settings. METHODS A total of 225 smear-positive sputum samples were collected from consecutive drug-resistant TB subjects. Samples were processed at the Province TB Reference Laboratory and tested for susceptibility to rifampicin (RMP), isoniazid (INH), ofloxacin (OFX), kanamycin (KM) and capreomycin (CPM) by D-NRA, using the indirect Löwenstein-Jensen proportion method (LJ-PM) as reference. RESULTS Of the 225 smear-positive sputum samples, 214 isolates were identified as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and analysed for further comparison. The sensitivity of the D-NRA in the detection of resistance to RMP, INH, OFX, KM and CPM was respectively 95.1% (97/102), 93.1% (135/145), 97.4% (76/78), 88.9% (40/45) and 90.6% (29/32); specificity was respectively 100% (112/112), 97.1% (67/69), 100% (136/136), 98.8% (167/169) and 96.7% (176/182). The median time to culture positivity was significantly shorter for NRA than for the indirect LJ-PM (14 days vs. 70 days, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION D-NRA showed high sensitivity and specificity in the rapid diagnosis of MDR- and XDR-TB in a high-burden, resource-limited setting.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The aim of the study was to explore the effect of aminoguanidine cream on the skin tissue microenvironment in diabetic rats. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 51 healthy male Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into three groups: the diabetes group (n = 18), the aminoguanidine group (n = 18) and the control group (n = 15). Rats in the diabetes group and aminoguanidine group were injected with 65 mg/kg streptozotocin to induce the diabetes model, and in the control group with citrate buffer. After successful induction of diabetes, the back hair of all rats was stripped by barium sulfide, and the aminoguanidine group was treated with aminoguanidine cream using disinfected cotton swabs twice every day for 40 days, while the diabetes and control groups were treated with the cream matrix. The pathological changes of skin were observed by HE staining, while the content of inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-8, ICAM and IL-1α) and the antioxidant indexes (T-AOC, GSH-PX, MPO MDA H2O2) were examined using commercial kits. RESULTS After 40 days of treatment, the diabetes group manifested tissue lesions, whereas the aminoguanidine group seemed normal. Compared with the diabetes group, the content of inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-8, ICAM and IL-1α was dramatically lower in the aminoguanidine group. T-AOC in all groups underwent dramatic changes and returned to normal finally. The activities of GSH-PX and MPO and content of H2O2 in the diabetes group were all higher than those in the aminoguanidine group. CONCLUSIONS Aminoguanidine may have a good systemic effect on alleviating the pathological changes of skin tissue in diabetic rats, which may be attributed to the regulation of GSH-PX, TNF-α, IL-8, ICAM and IL-1α.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To study the relationship between mammographic findings and clinical/pathologic features in women with 1-15mm sized invasive breast cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS We investigated a consecutive series of 134 cases diagnosed in Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital in 2007. Mammographic findings were classified into five groups as follows :1) stellate mass without calcification; 2) non-stellate mass without calcification; 3) intermediate suspicious calcification with or without associated mass; 4) higher probability malignant calcification with or without associated mass; 5) focal asymmetry/distortion without associated calcification. Associations between mammographic and clinical/pathological features (menopause status/family history/histologic grade/lymph node status and ER/PR/HER2 status) was analyzed through logistic regression and chi square tests. RESULTS Compared to the stellate mass without calcification group, higher probability malignant calcification patients were associated significantly with a positive lymph node status, always presenting in patients who were non-menopausal and with a family history of carcinoma. CONCLUSIONS Higher probability malignant calcifications with or without associated tumor masses are associated with clinical/pathologic features of poor prognosis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare the efficacy of mammography versus ultrasonography in detecting stages T1 and Tis breast cancer. METHODS Mammography and ultrasonograhpy data were collected for 1 630 stages T1 and Tis breast cancer from July 2011 to July 2013. Chi-square test was used to analyze the detection rate and diagnostic rate of two methods. RESULTS Among 1 630 patients with 1 665 focus, 1 559 focus were detected by both methods. In term of detection rate, mammography had a higher rate in mostly fatty and scattered fibroglandular breast while ultrasonography offered advantages in extremely dense breast. And statistical significance existed among these groups (P < 0.05). In heterogeneously dense group, the detection rate of two methods had no statistical significance (P > 0.05). In term of diagnostic rate, mammography had a higher diagnostic rate in mostly fatty and scattered fibroglandular breast. On the contrary, ultrasonography was superior to mammography in heterogeneously and extremely dense breast. No statistical significance existed among these groups (P > 0.05). Furthermore the focus were classified into mass and non-mass types based on mammographic images. As the volume of fibroglandular tissue increased, the amount of mass type focus increased while that of non-mass type focus decreased. CONCLUSION For stages T1 and Tis breast cancer, mammography has higher detection and diagnostic rates in mostly fatty and scattered fibroglandular breast while ultrasonography is better for heterogeneously and extremely dense breast. There are some correlations between fibroglandular and focus types based on mammographic images.

Abstract
To explore aminoguanidine (AG) effect on neutrophil functions and associated signal transduction way in diabetic rats wound healing. Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were divided into 3 groups, Group A (control+burns), Group B (diabetes+burns), Group C (diabetes+burns+AG). Wound skin tissue was harvested at 6h, 24h and 36h after trauma, and then immunohistochemistry was used to detect AGE (advanced glycation end products) contents and RAGE (receptor of AGE) expression. Western blotting was applied to detect RAGE and NF-κB. Oxidative stress changes were detected by colorimetry. Inflammatory cytokines were determined by ELIASA and cell apoptosis by TUNEL. Pathological changes were analyzed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. In the wound tissue of Group C, compared to that in Group B, AGE content, RAGE expression level, NF-κB level declined, and MPO (myeloperoxidase) decreased at 36h; TNFα, IL-8, H2O2, GSH-Px (Glutathione peroxidse), and MDA (malondialdehyde) levels increased; dense post-traumatic inflammation belt formed obviously. AG for prophylactic use can promote the migration and respiratory burst of neutrophils markedly, and help to restore the functions of neutrophil; and the abnormal secretion of inflammation cytokines can be corrected partly. Blocking AGE deposition and promoting microenvironment were effective ways for diabetic wound healing.

Abstract
Macrophages play a critical role in wound healing and can be activated to two distinctive phenotypes in vitro: classical macrophage activation (caM) and alternative macrophage activation (aaM). This study investigated whether the impaired cutaneous repair observed in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats was associated with altered macrophage activation. Our results show that macrophage activation phenotypes could be observed in wound healing through double immunostaining. The caM macrophages appeared in the initial stage of wound healing, followed by aaM macrophages, which predominated in normal wounds. However, through examining markers associated with activation by immunoblotting and real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR), diabetic wounds demonstrated insufficient caM in the early stage but excessive aaM in the later proliferative phase. Moreover, the macrophage activation markers were correlated with the instructive T helper cell type 1 (Th1)/Th2 cytokines in both groups. It was indicated that changed macrophage activation might contribute to impaired healing in diabetes wounds, and that strategies for reverting this abnormal activation could be useful for enhancing the wound healing process.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare the morphological difference between dermal tissue of normal skin and that of scar in rat, and to explore its structural pattern. METHODS The full-thickness skin and the scar tissue formed 3 weeks after wound healing from SD rats were harvested as samples, which were prepared appropriately afterwards. Samples were scanned and imaged with synchrotron radiation technology, micro-CT, and phase-contrast imaging technology. The images were rebuilt with three-dimensional software. RESULTS The micro-CT was materialized by using X-ray generated by synchrotron radiation light source. The structure of dermal tissues was clearly shown with the assistance of phase-contrast imaging technology in the process. It was demonstrated that the dermal tissues of normal skin of rat were mainly composed of collagenous fibers, which twined together to form an olive-like structure. These olive-like structures as basic units were arranged randomly in a certain way. The collagenous fibers in dermal tissue of the scar were arranged in a parallel manner, while some fibers were crooked and arranged in a disorderly manner. CONCLUSIONS Dermal tissue of normal skin in rat has stable three-dimensional structure, and its basic structure and manner of composition are obviously different from those of scar dermal tissue.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the relationship between cutaneous glycometabolic disorders and cutaneous neuropathy in diabetic rats, and to look for the mechanism of neuropathy and impaired wound healing. METHODS Eighty male SD rats were randomly divided into the normal control group (NC, n = 20), diabetic group (D, n = 20), aminoguanidine-interfered group (AI, n = 20), and insulin-interfered group (II, n = 20) by drawing lots. Diabetes was reproduced in rats of D, AI, and II groups with intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ). Then, rats in AI group were fed with 100 mg×kg(-1)×d(-1) aminoguanidine, while rats in II group were subcutaneously injected with insulin for satisfactory control of blood glucose. Changes in mechanical and heat pain thresholds of pad of hind limb were measured at post injection week (PIW) 2, 4, 8. Skin specimens were collected during PIW 2-8 from pads for determination of contents of glucose, advanced glycation end product (AGE), substance P (SP), calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), and observation of distribution and ultrastructure of skin nerve fibers. Data were processed with t test. RESULTS The mechanical and heat pain thresholds in D group at PIW 2 [(6.3 ± 1.5) g, (6.0 ± 0.9) s, respectively ] were obviously lower than those in NC group [(13.0 ± 3.2) g, (10.3 ± 1.2) s, with t value respectively 2.71, 3.42, P values all below 0.05]. Contents of glucose and AGE in skin tissue in D group were significantly increased when compared with those in NC group, especially at PIW 8 [(2.85 ± 0.33) mg/g, (31.7 ± 3.2) U/mg of hydroxyproline vs. (0.82 ± 0.22) mg/g, (22.2 ± 1.9) U/mg of hydroxyproline, with t value respectively 1.65, 6.47, P values all below 0.01]. The myelinated nerve fibers were edematous and degenerated, with axons compressed, while the unmyelinated nerve fibers were vacuolated, with microfilament and microtubule disorderly arranged. Content of SP in skin tissue in D group was lower as compared with that in NC group, especially at PIW 2 [(16.8 ± 3.4) pg/g vs. (28.5 ± 5.0) pg/g, t = 2.42, P < 0.01]. There was no obvious difference in content of CGRP between NC and D groups, and also in content of glucose in skin between D and AI groups. Compared with those in D group, content of AGE in AI group at PIW 8 was decreased markedly [(27.2 ± 1.4) U/mg of hydroxyproline, t = 3.38, P < 0.05]; contents of glucose and AGE in II group at PIW 8 were significantly decreased [(1.42 ± 0.38) mg/g, (23.6 ± 1.3) U/mg of hydroxyproline, with t value respectively 1.74, 8.17, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01]. Compared with that in D group, contents of SP in AI and II groups were increased, with a delay in time of trough value. Content of CGRP showed no obvious difference among D, AI, and II groups. CONCLUSIONS High glucose and accumulation of AGE are key mediators of cutaneous neuropathy and impaired wound healing in diabetes mellitus, which confirms that diabetic wound takes an atypical footing during wound repairing. Aminoguanidine and insulin can reduce contents of glucose and AGE in diabetic skin tissue, and ameliorate diabetic cutaneous neuropathy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of aminoguanidine cream on the proliferation of keratinocytes (KC), content of advanced glycosylation end products (AGE) and oxidative stress in skin tissue of rats with diabetes. METHODS Stearic acid, liquid paraffin, vaseline, lanolin, isopropyl myristate fat, glycerol, 50 g/L alcohol paraben, aminoguanidine hydrochloride etc. were mixed in certain proportion to make aminoguanidine cream, and cream without aminoguanidine was used as matrix. The dorsal skin of normal rats were harvested and treated by aminoguanidine cream with dose of 5, 10 g/L, or 5 g/L together with 10 g/L azone. The transdermal effect was respectively measured at post treatment hour 2, 4, 7, 10, 12, 24. Thirty SD rats were divided into normal control (NC, n = 6), diabetes (D, n = 8), aminoguanidine cream-interfered (AI, n = 8), matrix cream-interfered groups (MI, n = 8) according to the random number table. Diabetes was reproduced by intraperitoneal injection of STZ (65 mg/kg) in rats of D, AI, and MI groups, and rats in NC group were injected with 0.05 mmol/L citrate buffer as control. One week later, dorsal skin of rats in AI and MI groups were respectively treated with 10 g/L aminoguanidine cream and matrix cream by external use for 4 weeks. AGE content was determined with fluorescence detection from skin collagen extract. KC cell cycle was detected by flow cytometry. Skin tissue specimens were obtained for determination of levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), myeloperoxidase (MPO), and total antioxidant capacity. Data were processed with t test. RESULTS Transdermal effect of aminoguanidine cream with dose of 10 g/L was better than that with 5 g/L or 5 g/L + 10 g/L azone cream. One rat was not induced successfully in MI group. Four weeks after model reproduction, 4 rats died in D group and 1 rat died in AI group. The AGE content in D group was obviously higher than that in NC group [(36.8 +/- 2.6), (24.6 +/- 2.7) U per milligram hydroxyproline, respectively, t = 7.2, P < 0.01], and that in AI group [(28.6 +/- 3.7) U per milligram hydroxyproline] was also lower as compared with that in D group (t = -3.9, P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in AGE content between MI [(32.2 +/- 5.2) U per milligram hydroxyproline] and D groups (t = 1.6, P > 0.05). The percentage of KC in S phase was obviously lower in D group than in NC group [(5.3 +/- 0.6)%, (7.6 +/- 0.9)%, respectively, t = 4.50, P < 0.01], while that in MI group [(9.2 +/- 1.5)%] was higher as compared with that in D group ( t = 4.90, P < 0.01). It was more higher in AI group than in D group on KC percentage in S and G2/M phase (with t value respectively 6.80, 3.17, P values all below 0.01). The oxidative stress indexes of skin tissue in D group were all higher than those in NC group, in which levels of MPO and SOD showed statistical difference (with t value respectively 4.4, 3.7, P values all below 0.05). The oxidative stress indexes were all lower in AI group than in D group, especially in SOD level (t = -1.4, P < 0.05). Levels of MAD, MPO in MI group were significantly lower than those in D group (with t value respectively 2.6, 2.9, P values all below 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Aminoguanidine cream can promote KC proliferation and appropriately reduce oxidative stress through inhibiting AGE formation to a certain extent in skin tissue of rats with diabetes. Signal use of matrix cream can also reduce oxidative stress in skin tissue of rats with diabetes.

Abstract
Bone metastases are a major problem in the clinical management of patients with prostate cancer. Despite the use of analgesic for the relief of such pain, the outcomes are not often satisfactory. Strontium-89 (89Sr) is a pure beta-emitting radioisotope to be avidly concentrated in the areas of high osteoblastic activity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of 89Sr in the therapy for bone metastases of prostate carcinoma. 116 patients received intravenous injection of 89Sr at the dose of 3mCi (111MBq). All patients underwent physical examination and Karnofsky's Performance Score (KPS) evaluation before and after administration; the analgesic effects were evaluated by scores of pain. The complete response (CR) was defined as scores of pain > 75%; no response (NR) was defined as scores of pain < 25% the remaining was partial response (PR). The changes of bone metastases were screened by CT, MRI and 99mTc-MDP bone scintigraphy according to the standards of WHO. After the treatment with 89Sr, the total response rate was 80.2%. In the 116 cases, 21 cases (18.1%) displayed complete response and 72 cases (62.1%) displayed partial response, but 23 cases (19.2%) showed no response. The mean score on Karnfsky's performance status (KPS) was 20.0% higher. About 1/3 cases exhibited an obvious decrease in the number of metastases, and some foci disappeared. Thirteen cases (12%) showed a greater decrease in prostate-specific antigen (PSA) value. 89Sr chloride is an effective and safe therapy of the bone metastases from prostate cancer.

Abstract
Mammalian skin is composed of three layers, the epidermis, the dermis, and the subcutis, which is composed primarily of adipose tissue. The dermal and adipose tissues are involved simultaneously when partial and full-thickness burns occur, and often induce scar formation. However, little is known about the role of the dermis and adipose tissue injury in scar formation or the difference in fibrogenesis between the two tissues. In this study with female red Duroc pigs, we created flaps of skin with a dermal plane of injury or deeper flaps with an adipose plane of injury on the back. We compared the extent of fibrogenesis by observing the deposition of extracellular matrix as well as the characteristics of cells in the injured area. In skin flaps with a dermal level of tissue injury, scar formation that was characterized by more extracellular matrix deposition and less apoptotic myofibroblasts in the injured area was observed. Our results suggest that scar formation does not correlate with injury at the level of the adipose tissue, and that adipose tissue might serve to alleviate fibrogenesis.

Abstract
The objective of this research work is to prepare a new and reliable radiopharmaceutical for osteoarthral cartilage imaging. Chondroitin sulfate (CS) was labeled directly with 99mTc by "pretinning" method, the labeling efficiency was 79.30% +/- 1.72% and radiochemical purity was 90.12% +/- 1l.23% after filtration by use of asepsis filter membrane. The biodistribution of 99Tc-CS was studied at 10, 30 min and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 h respectively after caudal vein injection in normal mice,which showed that the radiolabeled product was washed out from blood quickly, and it was mainly excreted through kidney, but 99mTc-CS had distinctive characteristic of philo- cartilage. Scintigraphy of 99mTc-CS was performed on the rabbit with ostarthritis at 5 h after intravenous injection; the scintigram was clear,and the focus showed increased radiopharmaceutical uptake. The radioactivity ratio of the injured/uninjured side (T/NT) calculated over the region of interest (ROI) was 3.0 +/- 0.6 (P < 0.05). These results indicate that 99mTc-CS is an easily prepared compound with the characteristic of high philo-cartilage and it may be a new ideal cartilage imaging agent.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the effect of focal-adhesion micromanipulation on the biological behavior of fibroblast. METHODS Micro-pot was made by microcontact printing. The molecules of constitutive protein was adhered on micro-pot by self-assemble of peptides. Skin fibroblasts were cultured on the membrane by self-made biomechanical cell culture for 2 weeks. Morphology observation and cell immunohistochemistry analysis was performed. RESULTS After 2 weeks, the morphology of the fibroblasts was diverse and more compliant. Cell immunohistochemistry analysis found that the expression of integrinbeta1, alpha5 and tensin was dramatically reduced. CONCLUSIONS The morphology and the biological behaviour of the fibroblasts in hypertrophic scar can be changed after micromanipulation of focal adhesion.

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the usefulness of 99mTechnetium methylenediphosphonate (99mTc-MDP) bone imaging in diagnosticating rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In 66 patients with RA, 99mTc-MDP whole body bone imaging, feet and hands regional bone imaging and ROI were performed. And from each patient, X-ray film, rheumatoid factor (RF), C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) were taken for examination. By the use of 99mTc-MDP, abnormal bone images were observed in 55 cases of RA; the total positive rate of incidence (83.3%) was significantly higher than those by use of X-ray (45.5%), RF (51.5%), CRP (63.6%) and ESR (69.7%); the positive rates of imaging with 99mTc-MDP in the 55 cases of RA (divided into 4 groups according to the course of disease; namely, < 1,1-, 5- and >10-year groups) were 75.0%, 88.9%, 92.3% and 100.0% respectively, whereas the positive rates of those year-groups by use of X-ray were 10.7%, 33.3%, 84.6%, 100.0% respectively; comparison of the two methods, showed statistically significant difference: P<0.01 (< 5-year group); P >0.05 (> 5-year group). In 177 joint lesions detected by bone images, 144 lesions (81.4%) were symmetric, and 33 lesions (18.6%) were single. The most frequently detected lesions were at metacarpophalangeal joints or interphalangeal and wrist joints, metatarsophalangeal or ankle joints, and knee joints. We have noticed that 99mTc-MDP bone imaging can elevate the detectability at the early stage of RA, so it is of value for the treatment of RA.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of advanced glycation end products (AGE) on the biological behavior of neutrophils in vitro, to look for the relationship between accumulation of AGE and abnormal inflammation in wound healing in diabetic mellitus patients. METHODS Neutrophils were isolated from SD rats and incubated in vitro. The cells were divided into four groups according to different concentrations of AGE in cell suspension: control group (C, with treatment of RPMI - 1640), A group (with treatment of 0.315 mg/mL AGE + RPMI - 1640), B group (with treatment of 0.625 mg/mL AGE + RPMI - 1640), D group (with treatment of 1.250 mg/mL AGE + RPMI - 1640). Activity of neutrophils were determined by MTT colorimetric assay. Selectin-L mRNA expressions were analyzed by reversible transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT -PCR) technique. The levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in neutrophils were measured with DCFH-DA method. The protein concentration of neutrophil elastase (NE) was assayed by ELISA. RESULTS The activity of neutrophils were obviously increased in A, B, and D groups when compared with that in C group [(0.170 +/- 0.040) in C group, (0.320 +/- 0.030) in A group, (0.380 +/- 0.020) in B group, (0.290 +/- 0.010) in D group, P <0. 05]. The expression of Selectin-L mRNA in A, B, D groups were significantly higher than that in C group (0.95 +/- 0.08, 1.36 +/- 0.27, 0.50 +/- 0.26.vs.0.36 +/- 0.26, P < 0.05. respectively). The ROS levels in A, B, D groups was markedly higher than that in C group (1.64 +/- 0.20, 2.16 +/- 0.26, 3.26 +/- 0.75. vs. 0.72 +/- 0.15, P <0.05, respectively). The levels of NE in A, B, D groups were significantly increased when compared with that in C group(1.98 +/- 0.43, 2.50 +/- 0.43, 2.01 +/- 0.18 vs 0.91 +/- 0. 21, P <0.05, respectively). CONCLUSION AGE can enhance the activity of neutrophil, with change in cellular biological behaviors, which may be one of main reasons for abnormal inflammation in wounds of diabetes mellitus patients.
