Abstract
A natural irrigation solution with a broad spectrum of antimicrobial coverage, triphala was selected for the pulpectomy procedure. Because of its natural ingredients, it is well-known for promoting tissue healing. It also supposedly has certain additional qualities as compared to usual irrigation solutions that are made chemically. Although 2.5% NaOCl is thought to be perfect since it meets most of the requirements for an irrigation solution but it cannot be optimized for pulpectomy procedure. Primary teeth that were recommended for pulpectomy underwent this randomized controlled experiment. Two groups of eighty-four primary teeth were randomly assigned to receive irrigations: triphala in Group A; 2.5% Sodium hypochlorite in Group B. Sample were taken from infected primary root canals. A sterile test tube with bhi broth as the transport media was used to collect pre- and post-irrigation samples using sterile absorbent paper tips. On agar media, microorganisms were cultivated and their mean colony count was assessed. Following the procedure, the patient's follow-up visits at one, two and three months were used to evaluate the clinical result. The post-microbial colony count was dramatically reduced (p<0.001) by both irrigation treatments. Triphala in Group A is demonstrating desirable efficacy. Clinical success was found satisfactory in both the groups studied (p<0.001). But statistically significant difference was not found (p=0.175). Considering undesirable properties of sodium hypochlorite triphala can be a better alternative as a root canal irrigants in pulpectomy of primary teeth.

Abstract
Background Oral cholera vaccine (OCV) and incremental improvements in household water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) within cholera-endemic areas can reduce cholera risk. However, we lack empiric evaluation of their combined impact. Methods We evaluated a cluster-randomized, placebo-controlled trial of OCV (Shanchol) in Kolkata, India. The study population included 108 777 individuals, and 106 879 nonpregnant individuals >1 year of age were eligible to receive 2 doses of OCV or placebo. We measured cholera risk in all household members assigned to OCV vs placebo and in all members of households with "Better" vs "Not Better" WASH, where WASH was classified according to validated criteria. Protection was measured by Cox proportional hazard models. Results Residence in an OCV household was associated with protective effectiveness (PE) of 54% (95% CI, 42%-64%; P < .001) and was similar regardless of Better (PE, 57%; 95% CI, 26%-75%; P = .002) or Not Better (PE, 53%; 95% CI, 40%-64%; P < .001) household WASH. Better WASH household residence was associated with PE of 30% (95% CI, 5%-48%; P = .023) and was similar in OCV (PE, 24%; 95% CI, -26% to 54%; P = .293) and placebo (PE, 29%; 95% CI, -3% to 51%; P = .069) households. When assessed conjointly, residence in OCV households with Better WASH was associated with the greatest PE against cholera at 69% (95% CI, 49%-81%; P < .001). Conclusions These findings suggest that the combination of a vaccine policy and improved WASH reduces cholera risk more than either would alone, although the magnitude of either intervention was not affected by the other. Future randomized trials investigating OCV and WASH interventions separately and together are recommended to further understand the interaction between OCV and WASH.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Typhoid fever, or enteric fever, is a highly fatal infectious disease that affects over 9 million people worldwide each year, resulting in more than 110,000 deaths. Reduction in the burden of typhoid in low-income countries is crucial for public health and requires the implementation of feasible water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions, especially in densely populated urban slums. OBJECTIVE In this study, conducted in Mirpur, Bangladesh, we aimed to assess the association between household WASH status and typhoid risk in a training subpopulation of a large prospective cohort (n=98,087), and to evaluate the performance of a machine learning algorithm in creating a composite WASH variable. Further, we investigated the protection associated with living in households with improved WASH facilities and in clusters with increasing prevalence of such facilities during a 2-year follow-up period. METHODS We used a machine learning algorithm to create a dichotomous composite variable ("Better" and "Not Better") based on 3 WASH variables: private toilet facility, safe drinking water source, and presence of water filter. The algorithm was trained using data from the training subpopulation and then validated in a distinct subpopulation (n=65,286) to assess its sensitivity and specificity. Cox regression models were used to evaluate the protective effect of living in "Better" WASH households and in clusters with increasing levels of "Better" WASH prevalence. RESULTS We found that residence in households with improved WASH facilities was associated with a 38% reduction in typhoid risk (adjusted hazard ratio=0.62, 95% CI 0.49-0.78; P<.001). This reduction was particularly pronounced in individuals younger than 10 years at the first census participation, with an adjusted hazard ratio of 0.49 (95% CI 0.36-0.66; P<.001). Furthermore, we observed an inverse relationship between the prevalence of "Better" WASH facilities in clusters and the incidence of typhoid, although this association was not statistically significant in the multivariable model. Specifically, the adjusted hazard of typhoid decreased by 0.996 (95% CI 0.986-1.006) for each percent increase in the prevalence of "Better" WASH in the cluster (P=.39). CONCLUSIONS Our findings demonstrate that existing variations in household WASH are associated with differences in the risk of typhoid in densely populated urban slums. This suggests that attainable improvements in WASH facilities can contribute to enhanced typhoid control, especially in settings where major infrastructural improvements are challenging. These findings underscore the importance of implementing and promoting comprehensive WASH interventions in low-income countries as a means to reduce the burden of typhoid and improve public health outcomes in vulnerable populations.

Abstract
Background Global cholera control efforts rely heavily on effective water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions in cholera-endemic settings. Methods Using data from a large, randomized controlled trial of oral cholera vaccine conducted in Kolkata, India, we evaluated whether natural variations in WASH in an urban slum setting were predictive of cholera risk. From the control population (n = 55 086), baseline WASH data from a randomly selected "training subpopulation" (n = 27 634) were analyzed with recursive partitioning to develop a dichotomous ("better" vs "not better") composite household WASH variable from several WASH features collected at baseline, and this composite variable was then evaluated in a mutually exclusive "validation population" (n = 27 452). We then evaluated whether residents of better WASH households in the entire population (n = 55 086) experienced lower cholera risk using Cox regression models. Better WASH was defined by a combination of 4 dichotomized WASH characteristics including safe source of water for daily use, safe source of drinking water, private or shared flush toilet use, and always handwashing with soap after defecation. Results Residence in better WASH households was associated with a 30% reduction in risk of cholera over a 5-year period (adjusted hazard ratio, 0.70 [95% confidence interval, .49-.99]; P = .048). We also found that the impact of better WASH households on reducing cholera risk was greatest in young children (0-4 years) and this effect progressively declined with age. Conclusions The evidence suggests that modest improvements in WASH facilities and behaviors significantly modify cholera risk and may be an important component of cholera prevention and elimination strategies in endemic settings. Abstract
BACKGROUND Novel oral poliovirus vaccine type 2 (nOPV2) was developed by modifying the Sabin strain to increase genetic stability and reduce risk of seeding new circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 outbreaks. Bivalent oral poliovirus vaccine (bOPV; containing Sabin types 1 and 3) is the vaccine of choice for type 1 and type 3 outbreak responses. We aimed to assess immunological interference between nOPV2 and bOPV when administered concomitantly. METHODS We conducted an open-label, non-inferiority, randomised, controlled trial at two clinical trial sites in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Healthy infants aged 6 weeks were randomly assigned (1:1:1) using block randomisation, stratified by site, to receive nOPV2 only, nOPV2 plus bOPV, or bOPV only, at the ages of 6 weeks, 10 weeks, and 14 weeks. Eligibility criteria included singleton and full term (≥37 weeks' gestation) birth and parents intending to remain in the study area for the duration of study follow-up activities. Poliovirus neutralising antibody titres were measured at the ages of 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 14 weeks, and 18 weeks. The primary outcome was cumulative immune response for all three poliovirus types at the age of 14 weeks (after two doses) and was assessed in the modified intention-to-treat population, which was restricted to participants with adequate blood specimens from all study visits. Safety was assessed in all participants who received at least one dose of study product. A non-inferiority margin of 10% was used to compare single and concomitant administration. This trial is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT04579510. FINDINGS Between Feb 8 and Sept 26, 2021, 736 participants (244 in the nOPV2 only group, 246 in the nOPV2 plus bOPV group, and 246 in the bOPV only group) were enrolled and included in the modified intention-to-treat analysis. After two doses, 209 (86%; 95% CI 81-90) participants in the nOPV2 only group and 159 (65%; 58-70) participants in the nOPV2 plus bOPV group had a type 2 poliovirus immune response; 227 (92%; 88-95) participants in the nOPV2 plus bOPV group and 229 (93%; 89-96) participants in the bOPV only group had a type 1 response; and 216 (88%; 83-91) participants in the nOPV2 plus bOPV group and 212 (86%; 81-90) participants in the bOPV only group had a type 3 response. Co-administration was non-inferior to single administration for types 1 and 3, but not for type 2. There were 15 serious adverse events (including three deaths, one in each group, all attributable to sudden infant death syndrome); none were attributed to vaccination. INTERPRETATION Co-administration of nOPV2 and bOPV interfered with immunogenicity for poliovirus type 2, but not for types 1 and 3. The blunted nOPV2 immunogenicity we observed would be a major drawback of using co-administration as a vaccination strategy. FUNDING The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Abstract
The current global initiative to end Cholera by 2030 emphasizes the use of oral cholera vaccine (OCV) combined with feasible household Water-Sanitation-Hygiene (WASH) interventions. However, little is known about how improved WASH practices and behaviors and OCV interact to reduce the risk of cholera. We reanalyzed two arms of a cluster-randomized trial in urban Bangladesh, to evaluate the effectiveness of OCV given as a 2-dose regimen. One arm (30 clusters, n = 94,675) was randomized to vaccination of persons aged one year and older with OCV, and the other arm (30 clusters, n = 80,056) to no intervention. We evaluated the prevention of cholera by household WASH, classified at baseline using a previously validated rule, and OCV over 2 years of follow-up. When analyzed by assignment to OCV clusters rather than receipt of OCV, in comparison to persons living in "Not Better WASH" households in the control clusters, reduction of severe cholera (the primary outcome) was similar for persons in "Not Better WASH" households in vaccine clusters (46%, 95% CI:24,62), for persons in "Better WASH" households in the control clusters (48%, 95% CI:25,64), and for persons in "Better WASH" households in the vaccine clusters (48%, 95% CI:16,67). In contrast, when analyzed by actual receipt of a complete OCV regimen, , in comparison to persons in "Not Better WASH" households in the control clusters, protection against severe cholera increased steadily from 39% (95% CI:13,58) in residents of "Better WASH" households in the control clusters to 57% (95% CI:35,72) in vaccinated persons in "Not Better WASH" households to 63% (95% CI:21,83) in vaccinated persons in "Better WASH" households. This analysis suggests that improved household WASH and OCV received may interact to provide greater protection against cholera. However, the divergence between findings related to intent to vaccinate versus those pertaining to actual receipt of OCV underscores the need for further research on this topic.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Type 2 circulating vaccine-derived polioviruses (cVDPV2) from Sabin oral poliovirus vaccines (OPVs) are the leading cause of poliomyelitis. A novel type 2 OPV (nOPV2) has been developed to be more genetically stable with similar tolerability and immunogenicity to that of Sabin type 2 vaccines to mitigate the risk of cVDPV2. We aimed to assess these aspects of nOPV2 in poliovirus vaccine-naive newborn infants. METHODS In this randomised, double-blind, controlled, phase 2 trial we enrolled newborn infants at the Matlab Health Research Centre, Chandpur, Bangladesh. We included infants who were healthy and were a single birth after at least 37 weeks' gestation. Infants were randomly assigned (2:1) to receive either two doses of nOPV2 or placebo, administered at age 0-3 days and at 4 weeks. Exclusion criteria included receipt of rotavirus or any other poliovirus vaccine, any infection or illness at the time of enrolment (vomiting, diarrhoea, or intolerance to liquids), diagnosis or suspicion of any immunodeficiency disorder in the infant or a close family member, or any contraindication for venipuncture. The primary safety outcome was safety and tolerability after one and two doses of nOPV2, given 4 weeks apart in poliovirus vaccine-naive newborn infants and the primary immunogenicity outcome was the seroconversion rate for neutralising antibodies against type 2 poliovirus, measured 28 days after the first and second vaccinations with nOPV2. Study staff recorded solicited and unsolicited adverse events after each dose during daily home visits for 7 days. Poliovirus neutralising antibody responses were measured in sera drawn at birth and at age 4 weeks and 8 weeks. This study is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT04693286. FINDINGS Between Sept 21, 2020, and Aug 16, 2021, we screened 334 newborn infants, of whom three (<1%) were found to be ineligible and one (<1%) was withdrawn by the parents; the remaining 330 (99%) infants were assigned to receive nOPV2 (n=220 [67%]) or placebo (n=110 [33%]). nOPV2 was well tolerated; 154 (70%) of 220 newborn infants in the nOPV2 group and 78 (71%) of 110 in the placebo group had solicited adverse events, which were all mild or moderate in severity. Severe unsolicited adverse events in 11 (5%) vaccine recipients and five (5%) placebo recipients were considered unrelated to vaccination. 306 (93%) of 330 infants had seroprotective maternal antibodies against type 2 poliovirus at birth, decreasing to 58 (56%) of 104 in the placebo group at 8 weeks. In the nOPV2 group 196 (90%) of 217 infants seroconverted by week 8 after two doses, when 214 (99%) had seroprotective antibodies. INTERPRETATION nOPV2 was well tolerated and immunogenic in newborn infants, with two doses, at birth and 4 weeks, resulting in almost 99% of infants having protective neutralising antibodies. Abstract
Cholera poses a substantial health burden in the developing world due to both epidemic and endemic diseases. The World Health Organization recommends oral cholera vaccines for mass vaccination campaigns in addition to traditional prevention practices and treatments in resource-poor settings. In many developing countries like Bangladesh, the major challenge behind implementing mass vaccination campaigns concerns the affordability of the oral cholera vaccine (OCV). Vaccination of children with OCV is not only an impactful approach for controlling cholera at the population level and reducing childhood morbidity but is also considered more cost-effective than vaccinating all ages. The aim of the study was to estimate the cost of an OCV campaign for children from a societal perspective using empirical study. A total of 66,311 children aged 1 to 14 years old were fully vaccinated with two doses of the OCV Shanchol while 9,035 individuals received one dose of this vaccine. The estimated societal cost per individual for full vaccination was US$ 6.11, which includes the cost of vaccine delivery estimated at US$ 1.95. The cost per single dose was estimated at US$ 2.86. The total provider cost for full vaccination was estimated at US$ 6.01 and the recipient cost at US$ 0.10. Our estimation of OCV delivery costs for children was relatively higher than what was found in a similar mass OCV campaign for all age groups, indicating that there may be additional cost factors to consider in targeted vaccine campaigns. This analysis provides useful benchmarks for the possible costs related to delivery of OCV to children and future OCV cost-effectiveness models should factor in these possible cost disparities. Attempts to reduce the cost per dose are likely to have a greater impact on the cost of similar vaccination campaigns in many resource-poor settings.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the association between existing household water quality, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) practices and severe cholera risk in a dense urban slum where cholera is highly endemic. DESIGN, SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS We assembled a large prospective cohort within a cluster randomised trial evaluating the effectiveness of oral cholera vaccine. Our dynamic cohort population (n=193 576) comprised individuals living in the 'non-intervention' clusters of the trial, and were followed over 4 years. This study was conducted in a dense urban slum community of Dhaka, Bangladesh and cholera surveillance was undertaken in 12 hospitals serving the study area. PRIMARY OUTCOME MEASURE First severe cholera episode detected during follow-up period. METHODS We applied a machine learning algorithm on a training subpopulation (n=96 943) to develop a binary ('better', 'not better') composite WASH variable predictive of severe cholera. The WASH rule was evaluated for performance in a separate validation subpopulation (n=96 633). Afterwards, we used Cox regression models to evaluate the association between 'better' WASH households and severe cholera risk over 4 years in the entire study population. RESULTS The 'better' WASH rule found that water quality and access were the most significant factors associated with severe cholera risk. Members of 'better' WASH households, constituting one-third of the population, had a 47% reduced risk of severe cholera (95% CI: 29 to 69; p<0.001), after adjusting for covariates. The protective association between living in a 'better' WASH household and severe cholera persisted in all age groups. CONCLUSIONS Salutary existing household WASH practices were associated with a significantly reduced long-term risk of severe cholera in an urban slum of Dhaka. These findings suggest that WASH adaptations already practised in the community may be important for developing and implementing effective and sustainable cholera control programmes in similar settings. Abstract
BACKGROUND Typhoid fever contributes to approximately 135,000 deaths annually. Achievable improvements in household water-hygiene-sanitation (WASH) combined with vaccination using typhoid conjugate vaccines (TCVs) may be an effective preventive strategy. However, little is known about how improved WASH and vaccination interact to lower the risk of typhoid. METHODS 61,654 urban Bangladeshi children aged 9 months to <16 years, residing in 150 clusters with a baseline population of 205,760 residents, were randomized 1: 1 by cluster to Vi-tetanus toxoid TCV or Japanese Encephalitis (JE) vaccine. Surveillance for blood culture-confirmed typhoid fever was conducted over two years. Existing household WASH status was assessed at baseline as Better or Not Better using previously validated criteria. The reduction in typhoid risk among all residents associated with living in TCV clusters, Better WASH households, or both was evaluated using mixed-effects Poisson regression models. RESULTS The adjusted reduced risk of typhoid among all residents living in the clusters assigned to TCV was 55% (95% confidence interval (CI): 43%,65%; p < 0.001), and that of living in Better WASH households, regardless of cluster, was 37% (95%CI: 24%,48%; p < 0.001). The highest risk of typhoid was observed in persons living in households with Not Better WASH in the JE clusters. In comparison with these persons, those living in households with Better WASH in the TCV clusters had an adjusted reduced risk of 71% (95%CI: 59%, 80%; p < 0.001). CONCLUSION Implementation of TCV programs combined with achievable and culturally acceptable household WASH practices were independently associated with a significant reduction in typhoid risk.

Abstract
Modest improvements in household water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and typhoid vaccination can reduce typhoid risk in endemic settings. However, empiric evaluation of their combined impact is lacking. A total of 62,756 persons residing in 80 clusters in a Kolkata slum were allocated randomly 1:1 to either the typhoid Vi polysaccharide (ViPS) vaccine or hepatitis A (Hep A) vaccine. Surveillance was conducted for 2 years before and 2 years after vaccination. We classified households as having "better" or "not better" WASH, and calculated the prevalence of better WASH households in clusters using previously validated criteria. We evaluated the protection by better household WASH, better household WASH prevalence, and ViPS vaccination against typhoid in all cluster members present at baseline using Cox proportional hazard models. Overall, ViPS vaccination was associated with a 55% (P < 0.001; 95% CI, 35-69) reduction of typhoid risk and was similar regardless of better WASH in the residence. Living in a better WASH household was associated with a typhoid risk reduction of 31% (P = 0.16; 95% CI, -16 to 59) overall. The reduction was 48% (P = 0.05; 95% CI, -1 to 73) in Hep A clusters, 6% (P = 0.85; 95% CI, -82 to 51) in ViPS clusters, and 57% (P < 0.05; 95% CI, 15-78) in the population during the 2 years preceding the trial. These findings demonstrate a preventive association of better household WASH in the non-ViPS population, but, unexpectedly, an absence of additional protection from ViPS by better WASH in the ViPS population. This analysis highlights the importance of assessing the combination of WASH in conjunction with typhoid vaccines, and has implications for the evaluation of new-generation typhoid conjugate vaccines.

Abstract
The risk of degenerative diseases decreases with the consumption of high antioxidant
containing fruits. This study aimed to analyze the proximate composition and antioxidant
activity of pulp and seed of Syzygium cumini. Proximate composition was determined by
following the AOAC method. Minerals and heavy metals were analyzed using a flame
photometer and an atomic absorption spectrometer. In-vitro antioxidant activity was
evaluated by using phosphomolybdenum, ferrous ion chelating ability assay and reducing
power assay methods. In proximate composition analysis pulp contained significantly
(p<0.05) greater amount of minerals than seed but seed contained a higher amount of
protein and lipid than pulp. In the bioactive compound analysis, seed extracts possessed
significantly (p<0.05) greater amount of Chlorophyll A, Chlorophyll B and total
carotenoids. Additionally, seed extracts exhibited significantly (p<0.05) more total
antioxidant capacity, reducing power and ferrous ion chelating ability compared to pulp
extracts. This study revealed that the seed of Syzygium cumini contains significantly
(p<0.05) higher amount of minerals, bioactive compounds and showed better antioxidant
property. Therefore, Syzygium cumini seed can be a potential source of natural antioxidant
in medicine and food production.

Abstract
Background
Previous studies have associated certain risk factors with hazardous drinking in students. However, big cultural and geographical differences exist regarding alcohol use. In this study, we compare the alcohol use and hazardous drinking in Belgian (BE) and South African (SA) university students.
Methods
An online survey assessing alcohol use among university students in South Africa (University of KwaZulu-Natal) and Belgium (University of Antwerp) was conducted, using the shortened version of the Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT-C). For male students a cut-off point of 5 was used for hazardous drinking and for female students a score of 4. In total, 499 students were included in the study (250 BE and 249 SA students). A comparative analysis between both universities was performed for men and women separately with a Pearson chi-square test or Mann-Whitney U test. Furthermore, the association between hazardous drinking and several exposure variables was explored using multivariable logistic regression analysis.
Results
A significant higher amount of male (94.8%) as well as female (92.4%) BE students drank alcohol in the last year compared to the male (66.2%) and female (67.8%) SA students (p < 0.001). Additionally, a significant higher amount of BE students were hazardous drinkers, compared to the SA students (p < 0.001). Multivariate analysis showed that male BE students were approximately five times more likely to be hazardous drinkers than male SA students (OR = 5.057, 95% CI 1.378-18.556; p = 0.015). Female BE students were over twice more likely to be hazardous drinkers than female SA students (OR = 2.371, 95% CI 0.846-6.644; p = 0.099).
Conclusions
BE students drink significantly more alcohol and a significant higher proportion of BE students were hazardous drinkers compared to SA students. Qualitative research in both groups has been conducted to get more insight into the reasons of these differences and will also be presented at the Conference.
Key messages
When studying alcohol use (disorders) in university students, it is of utmost importance to take into account the socio-cultural context. After finding quantitatively assessed differences in alcohol use (disorder) across different socio-cultural settings, it is evenly important to find out about the reasons why.

Abstract
Hypertension is a common disease associated with high mortality and morbidity. Hypertension could have its origin in childhood and go undetected unless specially looked for during this period. With globalization bringing more lifestyle modifications, adolescents are exposed to multiple risk factors including obesity, diet, academic stress, lack of physical work apart from hereditary risk factors. Early diagnosis of hypertension is an important strategy in its control, effective treatment and prevention of complications. This cross sectional descriptive study was conducted in the Department of Paediatrics, Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, Sylhet during the period from January 2014 to June 2014. One thousand (1000) school children aged 12-16 years in Sylhet Metropolitan City were included according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Inclusion criteria were all school children aged 12-16 years in Sylhet Metropolitan City. School children aged under 12 or above 16 years and with any systemic disorder were excluded. This study showed that prevalence of hypertension in school going children of Sylhet city was 0.70% and there was a significant relationship of hypertension with the obesity, family history of hypertension, dietary habit and physical activity. Among 7 (seven) hypertensive children, 3(42.8%) were over weight and 3(42.8%) obese (p=0.001). All of 7(100%) children had family history of hypertension (p=0.001). Dietary habit were found healthy in 1(14.3%) and unhealthy in 6(85.7%) (p=0.001). Among 7 positive respondent, 6(85.7%) was sedentary working and 1(14.3%) was inactive (p=0.001). While waist hip ratio among those, 2(28.6%) were excellent and 5(71.4%) were average; was not significant (p=0.745). Prevalence of hypertension in apparently healthy school going children of Sylhet city was 0.70% and this had a strong relationship with obesity, family history of hypertension, dietary habit and physical activity.

Abstract
Background The level of myelin disruption in multiple sclerosis patients may impact the
capacity for training-induced neuroplasticity and the magnitude of
therapeutic response to rehabilitation interventions. Downslope walking has
been shown to increase functional mobility in individuals with multiple
sclerosis, but it is unclear if myelin status influences therapeutic
response. Objective The current study aimed to examine the relationship between baseline myelin
status and change in functional mobility after a walking intervention. Methods The Timed Up and Go test was used to measure functional mobility before and
after completion of a repeated, six-session slope walking intervention in 16
participants with relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis. Multi-component
T2 relaxation imaging was used to index myelin water fraction
of overall water content in brain tissue compartments. Results Results demonstrated that the ratio of the myelin water fraction in lesion to
normal-appearing white matter (myelin water fraction ratio) significantly
predicted 31% of the variance in change in Timed Up and Go score after the
downslope walking intervention, where less myelin disruption was associated
with greater intervention response. Conclusions Myelin water content fraction ratio may offer a neural biomarker of myelin to
identify potential responders to interventions targeting functional
impairments in multiple sclerosis.

Abstract
In developing countries like Bangladesh the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus is increasing day by day. Among the long-term complications of diabetes mellitus, vascular complications represent a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Hyperglycemia is still considered the principal cause of diabetes complications. Total plasma homocysteine (tHcy) is an emerging cardiovascular risk factor. Hyperhomocysteinemia independently appears to be a stronger risk factor for mortality than other risk factors in type 2 diabetes than in non diabetes. It may partly explain the link between microalbuminurea and increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Objective of the study was to evaluate serum total homocysteine level and to correlate it with glycemic status in type 2 diabetic patients. This cross sectional study was conducted during the period of July 2011 to June 2013 on 95 patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus, attending the Endocrine OPD of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh. The study was carried out in the Department of Biochemistry, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Shahbagh, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Study subjects were selected by purposive and convenient sampling technique. Study subjects were categorized according to the presence or absence of hyperhomocysteinemia. Among the total study population hyperhomocysteinemia was found in 21.05%. Among them number of male was greater. Overall glycemic control was poor in the patients. Mean HbA1c (%) was 8.31±2.04. Among those having hyperhomocysteinemia mean HbA1c (%) was significantly lower than those who had no hyperhomocysteinemia (7.2±1.5 vs. 8.6±2.06). Around one fifth of the type 2 diabetic patients had hyperhomocysteinemia. Those having hyperhomocysteinemia had significantly better glycemic control than those having no hyperhomocysteinemia.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Clinical quality registries (CQRs) are playing an increasingly important role in improving health outcomes and reducing health care costs. CQRs are established with the purpose of monitoring quality of care, providing feedback, benchmarking performance, describing pattern of treatment, reducing variation and as a tool for conducting research. OBJECTIVES To synthesise the impact of clinical quality registries (CQRs) as an 'intervention' on (I) mortality/survival; (II) measures of outcome that reflect a process or outcome of health care; (III) health care utilisation; and (IV) healthcare-related costs. METHODS The following electronic databases were searched: MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL, CINAHL and Google Scholar. In addition, a review of the grey literature and a reference check of citations and reference lists within articles was undertaken to identify relevant studies in English covering the period January 1980 to December 2016. The PRISMA-P methodology, checklist and standard search strategy using pre-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria and structured data extraction tools were used. Data on study design and methods, participant characteristics attributes of included registries and impact of the registry on outcome measures and/or processes of care were extracted. RESULTS We identified 30102 abstracts from which 75 full text articles were assessed and finally 17 articles were selected for synthesis. Out of 17 studies, six focused on diabetes care, two on cardiac diseases, two on lung diseases and others on organ transplantations, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcer healing, surgical complications and kidney disease. The majority of studies were "before after" design (#11) followed by cohort design (#2), randomised controlled trial (#2), experimental non randomised study and one cross sectional comparison. The measures of impact of registries were multifarious and included change in processes of care, quality of care, treatment outcomes, adherence to guidelines and survival. Sixteen of 17 studies demonstrated positive findings in their outcomes after implementation of the registry. CONCLUSIONS Despite the large number of published articles using data derived from CQRs, few have rigorously evaluated the impact of the registry as an intervention on improving health outcomes. Those that have evaluated this impact have mostly found a positive impact on healthcare processes and outcomes. TRIAL REGISTRATION PROSPERO CRD42015017319.

Abstract
Breast Cancer is the commonest maligrancy in woment. A study was carried out in the Department of Biochemistry, Dhaka Medical College to investigate some of the biochemical features that are associated with breast cancer occurring in Bangladeshi women. Thirty diagnosed breast cancer patients and thirty healthy women were selected. A questionnaire was used for collecting information regarding age, family history, physical activity and exercise, BMI, diet, smoking, alcohol abuse, addiction, details of menstrual and obstetric history, breast-feeding, parity, use of contraceptives and HRT. Blood samples were collected and tested for fasting lipid profiles, serum estrogen and progesterone. The study has revealed that high levels of serum total cholesterol (P<0.05), TAG (P<0.05), LDL-C (P<0.05) and low level of serum and HDL-C (P<0.05) were found to be associated with breast cancer. The study further reveals that blood levels of estrogen (P<0.05) and progesterone (P<0.05) were found to be lower than that of the controls. Abstract
Breed-wise standard echocardiographic values in dogs have been reported as there is variation in body and chest conformation which limits the application of data of one breed for other breed. Labrador Retrievers being originated from hunting dogs, might have different echocardiographic values from standard normal range of other dog breeds. So, the present study was aimed to determine the M-mode echocardiographic reference ranges in Labrador Retriever dogs and to evaluate the effect of body weight and gender on these parameters. The data obtained were also compared with that of the other dog breeds. Conscious clinically healthy Labrador Retriever dogs (n=24) of both sexes were made the subject of the study. All the measurements were made from a right parasternal long axis left ventricular outflow tract view and the parameters measured were: left ventricular dimensions, left ventricular function, left ventricular volumes, left atrial and aortic root diameter and mitral valve parameters. Data obtained were also compared with that available for other dog breeds. Significant correlation (P<0.05) with body weight was obtained for some of the left ventricular, atrial and mitral valve parameters, being strong for LAD, AOD, LVIDd, LVIDs, IVSd and IVSs (r>0.5); moderate for LVPWd, LVPWs, EPSS, EF Slope and SV (r=0.3 to 0.5); weak for EDV and ESV (r<0.3). Non-significant effect of gender was seen on all the echocardiographic parameters. However, some of the parameters had a significant breed effect. It is expected that the obtained data will be valuable for the progress of studies on small animal cardiology.

Abstract
The heterodimeric nuclear factor 90/nuclear factor 45 complex (NF90/NF45) binds nucleic acids and is a multifunctional regulator of gene expression. Here we report that depletion of NF90/NF45 restores the expression of the p53 and p21 proteins in cervical carcinoma cells infected with high-risk human papillomaviruses (HPV). Knockdown of either NF90 or NF45 by RNA interference led to greatly elevated levels of p53 and p21 proteins in HPV-derived HeLa and SiHa cells, but not in other cancerous or normal cell lines. In HeLa cells, p21 mRNA increased concomitantly but the level of p53 mRNA was unaffected. RNA interference directed against p53 prevented the induction of both proteins. These results indicated that the up-regulation of p21 is due to p53-dependent transcription, whereas p53 is regulated post-transcriptionally. Proteasome-mediated turnover of p53 is accelerated by the HPV E6 and cellular E6AP proteins. We therefore examined the hypothesis that this pathway is regulated by NF90/NF45. Indeed, depletion of NF90 attenuated the expression of E6 RNA and inhibited transcription from the HPV early promoter, revealing a new role for NF90/NF45 in HPV gene expression. The transcription inhibition was largely independent of the reduction of P-TEFb levels caused by NF90 depletion. Consistent with p53 derepression, NF90/NF45-depleted HeLa cells displayed elevated PARP cleavage and susceptibility to camptothecin-induced apoptosis. We conclude that high-risk strains of HPV utilize the cellular NF90/NF45 complex for viral E6 expression in infected cervical carcinoma cell lines. Interference with NF90/NF45 function could assist in controlling cervical carcinoma.

Abstract
Protein kinase Cα (PKCα) can phosphorylate the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) at threonine 654 (T654) to inhibit EGFR tyrosine phosphorylation (pY-EGFR) and the associated activation of downstream effectors. However, upregulation of PKCα in a large variety of cancers is not associated with EGFR inactivation, and factors determining the potential of PKCα to downregulate EGFR are yet unknown. Here, we show that ectopic expression of annexin A6 (AnxA6), a member of the Ca(2+) and phospholipid-binding annexins, strongly reduces pY-EGFR levels while augmenting EGFR T654 phosphorylation in EGFR overexpressing A431, head and neck and breast cancer cell lines. Reduced EGFR activation in AnxA6 expressing A431 cells is associated with reduced EGFR internalization and degradation. RNA interference (RNAi)-mediated PKCα knockdown in AnxA6 expressing A431 cells reduces T654-EGFR phosphorylation, but restores EGFR tyrosine phosphorylation, clonogenic growth and EGFR degradation. These findings correlate with AnxA6 interacting with EGFR, and elevated AnxA6 levels promoting PKCα membrane association and interaction with EGFR. Stable expression of the cytosolic N-terminal mutant AnxA6(1-175), which cannot promote PKCα membrane recruitment, does not increase T654-EGFR phosphorylation or the association of PKCα with EGFR. AnxA6 overexpression does not inhibit tyrosine phosphorylation of the T654A EGFR mutant, which cannot be phosphorylated by PKCα. Most strikingly, stable plasma membrane anchoring of AnxA6 is sufficient to recruit PKCα even in the absence of EGF or Ca(2+). In summary, AnxA6 is a new PKCα scaffold to promote PKCα-mediated EGFR inactivation through increased membrane targeting of PKCα and EGFR/PKCα complex formation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The explicit objectives of the present study were to assess the level of knowledge on pregnancy "danger signs" and HIV status, estimate the proportion of pregnant women uses health care facilities, and identify sociodemographic predictors. METHODS A cross-sectional community-based study was conducted by means of a questionnaire survey among 340 black pregnant women from the province of KwaZulu-Natal. RESULTS The mean age of the pregnant women was 26 years where teenage pregnancy rate was 13%. Most of the pregnant women were single (78%), less educated (60%), and unemployed (92%). Though most of the study population (92%) attended health care facilities, only half (52%) of them knew about some of the "danger signs" of pregnancy, and 39% of them knew about their HIV status. Known HIV status was related to the knowledge of pregnancy complication (P = .018). Knowledge of "danger signs" of pregnancy was significantly (P = .012) associated with the age of the expectant mother. CONCLUSION Low level of knowledge on "danger signs" of pregnancy and their HIV status are observed among pregnant women. This warrants an urgent attempt to introduce health education strategies to rural population of South Africa.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Metal-on-metal Birmingham hip resurfacing (MOM-BHR) is an alternative to metal-on-metal total hip arthroplasty (MOM-THA), especially for young and/or active patients. However, wear resulting in increased serum ion levels is a concern. QUESTIONS/PURPOSES We asked whether (1) serum chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co), and molybdenum (Mo) concentrations would differ between patients with either MOM-BHR or MOM-THA at 5 years, (2) confounding factors such as gender would influence ion levels; and (3) ion levels would differ at 2 and 5 years for each implant type. PATIENTS AND METHODS Ions were measured in two groups with either MOM-BHR (n = 20) or MOM-THA (n = 35) and a mean 5-year followup, and two groups with either MOM-BHR (n = 15) or MOM-THA (n = 25) and a mean 2-year followup. Forty-eight healthy blood donors were recruited for reference values. RESULTS At 5 years, there were no differences in ion levels between patients with MOM-BHR or MOM-THA. Gender was a confounding factor, and in the MOM-BHR group at 5 years, Cr concentrations were greater in females compared with those of males. Mean ion levels were similar in patients with 2 and 5 years of followup for each implant type. Ion levels in patients were sevenfold to 10-fold higher than in controls. CONCLUSIONS As the metal ion concentrations in the serum at 5 years were in the range reported in the literature, we do not believe concerns regarding excessive metal ion levels after MOM-BHR are justified. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the incidence of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) among children aged 0-14 yr inclusive in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador (NL). METHODS Prospective and retrospective cohort study of the incidence of T1DM in children aged 0-14 yr from 1987 to 2005. Identified cases during this time period were ascertained from several sources and verified using the capture-recapture technique. RESULTS Over the study period, 732 children aged 0-14 yr were diagnosed with T1DM. The incidence of T1DM in this population over the period 1987-2005 inclusive was 35.08 per 100,000 (95% confidence interval: 32.54, 37.62). The incidence over this period increased linearly at the rate of 0.78 per 100 000 per year. There was a significant difference between the incidence of 31.61 per 100,000 for boys in the 0-4-yr age-group and 19.05 per 100,000 for girls in the 0-4-yr age-group (p = 0.001). The incidence was very high throughout the entire province. CONCLUSIONS/INTERPRETATION The province of NL has one of the highest incidences of T1DM reported worldwide. The incidence is increasing over the 19-yr study period.

Abstract
A four-ring circular external skeletal fixation device was evaluated for transcarpal fixation of compound fractures in two calves. Case 1 was an eight-month-old female Holstein-Friesian x indigenous breed calf weighing 72 kg, which had a Salter-Harris type II fracture at the distal metaphysis of the right radius/ulna with an open contaminated wound on the medial aspect of the carpus. Case 2 was an 18-month-old crossbred Haryana heifer weighing 105 kg, which had a comminuted fracture at the proximal end of its left metacarpus with severe soft tissue trauma and an open wound on the medial aspect. In both cases, the fractures were repaired with four-ring circular fixators by fixing the proximal two rings in the distal radius/ulna and the distal two rings in the metacarpus. Postoperatively, both calves were treated with analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotic, and the pin-bone interfaces and the open wound were cleaned regularly with povidone-iodine solution. In both animals weight bearing was good to excellent in the immediate postoperative period. The fixator was well maintained and tolerated by the animals until the fractures healed after 45 to 60 days. The movement of the carpal joint was slightly affected when the fixator was removed on day 60, but a follow-up examination after one year showed that both calves had normal functional usage of the limbs.

Abstract
Bone is a composite biomaterial, which is formed, when proteins constituting collagen fibers attract calcium, phosphate and hydroxide ions in solution to nucleate atop the fibers. It grows into a hard structure of tiny crystallites of hydroxyapatite, aligned along the long axis of collagen fibers. The present work reports the stimulating effect of static magnetic field on microstructure and mineralization process of bone repair. A unilateral transverse fracture of mid-shaft of metacarpal was surgically created in healthy goats under thiopental sedation and xylocaine analgesia. Two bar magnets (approximately 800 gauss/cm2 field strength) were placed across the fracture line at opposite pole alignment immobilized in Plaster of Paris (POP) splint bandage for static magnetic field stimulation. Radiographs were taken at weekly intervals up to 45 days. Results show that formation of extra-cellular matrix and its microstructure can be influenced by non-invasive physical stimulus (magnetic field) for achieving an enhanced osteogenesis, leading to quicker regeneration of bone tissue in goats. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of treated (magnetic field-exposed) and control samples revealed the presence and orientation of crystalline structures. Intensity of diffraction peaks corresponding to 310 and 222 planes were enhanced with respect to 211 families of reflections, indicating preferential alignment of the crystals. Also, the percent crystallinity and crystal size were increased in treated samples. The study provides a biophysical basis for augmented fracture healing under the influence of semi-aligned static magnetic field applied across the fracture line.

Abstract
The effect of ultrasound therapy on tendon injury healing was studied on 12 locally available non-descript adult goats of either sex divided equally in two groups (I and II) consisting of six animals each. The superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT) was transected and immediately repaired with nylon (2/0) using a locking loop suture pattern under atropine-triflupromazine-lignocaine epidural analgesia and strict aseptic condition. A full limb plaster of Paris cast was applied to immobilize the operated limb for 3 days. Postoperative care was similar in both the groups. In group I, the operated limb was allowed to heal without ultrasound therapy. In group II, pulsed ultrasound therapy was started 3 days after repair of tendinous injury at an intensity of 1 W/cm(2) for 10 min daily for 10 consecutive days. The animals of both groups were evaluated clinically and haemato-biochemically on days 1, 3, 7, 15, 20 and 30 postoperatively. Air tendonograms and ultrasonography were performed on days 0, 10, 20 and 30 post-tenorrhaphy. Histopathological examination of tendon biopsy samples was performed on day 30 post-tenorrhaphy. Resolution of inflammatory swelling, pain, weight bearing and tendon gliding movement was earlier in the test group than control. Rectal temperature, total leucocyte count and differential leucocyte count did not vary significantly at various stages of observation in both the groups. Serum glucose, cortisone and serum alkaline phosphatase levels increased significantly after tendon injury repair in all the animals and decreased slowly at all subsequent intervals in control group, whereas, it was near normal in the treatment group on day 30 post-tenorrhaphy. Air tendenograms and ultrasonography examinations in the test group revealed that there was a marked regression of peritendinous adhesion between the tendon and skin on day 30 post-tendon injury repaired and the tendon at the reconstructive site attained near normal thickness and density. Adhesions were present in the reconstructed site of SDFT in all animals of the control group. Histopathologically, the granulation tissue was comparatively bettered organized at the healing site in the ultrasound-treated animals.

Abstract
Anorectal malformations are associated with other anomalies among which vaginal malformations are occasionally encountered and may go unnoticed by the primary physician. Between January 1998 and December 2003, 563 cases of anorectal malformations were managed in Pediatric Surgery Department, Chittagong Medical College & Hospital, Chittagong, Bangladesh. Among these, five cases of rectovestibular fistula were associated with vaginal malformations. In this retrospective study age, physical findings, operative findings and procedures, outcome of operation and postoperative follow-up were evaluated. Mean age at presentation was 8.67 years (range 2 months to 17 years). All cases referred as rectovaginal fistula and vaginal anomalies (atresia to agenesis) were detected after thorough examination. Initial pelvic colostomy was done in all patients. Cases 1, 3 and 4 had distal vaginal agenesis and underwent posterior sagittal anorectovaginoplasty. In case 5, atretic vaginal duplication was found with didelphic hypoplastic uterus and absent left kidney. Case 2 (vaginal atresia) operated elsewhere is waiting for definitive surgery. Colostomy closure was done in four cases. The third patient had already married and conceived. Bowel habits are regular in all except the second patient. In females, a thorough understanding of anorectal malformations is necessary to identify the association with vaginal anomalies and awareness of this association will lead to earlier diagnosis and appropriate operative measures.

Abstract
The study was conducted on 10 buffalo calves with a weight of 98.5 +/- 3.9 kg and age 9.7 +/- 1.3 months. Ten trials of two treatments were carried out using a randomized block design. Atropine at the dose of 0.02 mg/kg bodyweight was administered in both the groups. The animals of group I received romifidine at the dose of 10 microg/kg i.v., 10 min after atropine administration, whereas, animals of group II received triflupromazine at the dose of 0.3 mg/kg i.m. and 10 min later romifidine at the dose of 10 microg/kg i.v. immediately followed by ketamine at the dose of 5 mg/kg i.v. The onset of action of romifidine in group I occurred within 2 min and the animals remained under mild sedation for 31 +/- 4.8 min. In group II, the triflupromazine-romifidine-ketamine combination induced anaesthesia for 14 +/- 2.3 min. Hypothermia, significant bradycardia and respiratory depression was noticed in both groups at different time intervals.

Abstract
The study was undertaken to evaluate the feasibility of a simple, inexpensive model of circular external fixator (CEF) for use in large ruminants. A simple model of CEF frames consisting of four full rings (13-19 cm diameter, 4 cm wide and 4 mm thick with 18-24 holes) connected by threaded rods (8 mm diameter, 10-15 cm long) and nuts was developed using mild (low carbon) steel and were nickel-plated. In the first phase of the study, three male cow calves were utilized to study the feasibility of application of the fixators in the metatarsus, tibia and radius, in reference of adaptation and tolerance by animals. In the second phase, the fixators were tested in osteotomized bones. Six bull calves of 1.5-2 years of age weighing about 200-250 kg were utilized for this purpose. After preparing the area for aseptic surgery, under xylazine (at 0.1 mg/kg, i.m.)-ketamine (i.v. till effect) general anaesthesia, the test bone (metatarsus, radius and tibia in two animals each) was approached through the medial surface and an osteotomy was created with a saw and chisel at the mid-diaphysis. The pre-constructed 4-ring CEF was mounted on the limb around the test bone in such a way that it formed a cylinder with the axis of the limb at the centre. Each ring was then fixed to the bone with a pair of beaded wires (316 SS) of 3.5 mm diameter. During the post-operative period, the animals were observed for any change in behaviour, tolerance of the fixators, the weight bearing on the test limb, the status of the fixator, and the level of reduction of the osteotomy, alignment and healing at different intervals. The fixation of CEF was easier in the metatarsus and radius than in the tibia. The inner ring diameters found adequate for metatarsus, radius and tibia were 13-15 cm, 15-17 cm and 17-19 cm, respectively. The fixators applied to different bones were well-tolerated, and the animals could lay down, stand and walk freely with the fixator without any problems. All the animals showed good weight bearing in the immediate post-operative period. Weight bearing, however, slightly reduced in the inflammatory period and showed improvement after about 4 weeks. Wire tract infection was seen in all the animals, which was more on proximal wire tracts on lateral aspect of limbs. Circular fixators were well-tolerated by all the animals, and there was no breaking/bending of connecting rods, slotted bolts or the rings at any stage of observation. Slight bowing of some wires was noticed in cases of tibia and radius (in phase II) and bending of some wires was noticed from first week in two animals one each in radius and tibia. Bone fragments were well maintained until healing occurred (appearance of bridging periosteal callus) at 60-70 days. The functional results were good in all but one case of tibia, where a mal-union was recorded. From this study, it can be concluded that CEF are well-tolerated by large ruminants and can be used to treat long bone fractures. The fixator assembly using mild steel is sufficiently strong to maintain fracture fixation and is inexpensive. The simple design of the CEF appears to be sufficient to treat simple diaphyseal fractures of the metatarsus and radius. Improvement in the technique of fixation and design-like coupling of linear and circular fixator components into hybrid constructs may help to provide greater rigidity in treating tibial and open long bone fractures.

Abstract
Four hundred and twenty nine young children with bronchiolitis admitted consecutively in different hospitals of Bangladesh were evaluated. Three hundred and forty eight children studied for their putative risk factors, clinical profile, management and the outcome. Both cases and controls were examined for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) antibody status. The diagnosis of bronchiolitis was made on the basis of first attack of wheeze in previously healthy children below two years of age. Detailed history including the possible risk factors, the management and daily follow-up on the ward and the outcome at discharge were documented through a structured questionnaire. Chest x-ray was done in each case to find out the radiological changes. Blood of 266 patients and 30 controls were studied for RSV IgM and IgG antibody by ELISA. There were 66% male and 34% female children. The median age of the children was 3.0 months and 82.7% were below 6 months of age. Most of the babies were born term (88%), with ABW (73%), by normal vaginal delivery (88%). Exclusive or predominant breast-feeding were given in 72% cases. The location of the patient was rural in 55% cases. Around half of the parents were illiterate or slightly educated (up to 5 years schooling) fathers 46.5% and mothers 56% and majority of the parents were poor (74%). In 52% cases the number of family members in one room were four or more. Half of the parents (52%) were smokes and there was atopy in 26.5% families. The clinical features of bronchiolitis were mostly cough (99%), respiratory distress (97%), feeding difficulty (93%) and fast breathing (96%) (median RR 68/min). Fever (1000F or more) was in only 33% cases, though parents complained in 90% cases. All children (100%) had wheeze and crackles in lungs in 96% cases. Liver could be palpable in 83% and spleen in 42% cases. Important radiological features were increased translucency (96%), increased interstitial markings (87%), hyperinflation (75%) and streaky densities (61%). In 69.6% cases TLC was 12,000 or less and only 15% with a neutrophil fraction greater than 60%. Children were positive for IgM antibody in 43.6% cases and both IgM and IgG in 5.3% cases. The main modalities of treatment were antibiotics (99%) (Ampicillin, 76%), oxygen therapy (83%), nebulised salbutamol (76%) and intravenous fluid (51%). The median duration of hospital stay was 4 days. Most of the children were discharged with improvement (96%) with 2% mortality. Not a single case was diagnosed as bronchiolitis in hospitals outside Dhaka. Cefrtiaxone (72.5%) and parenteral steroids (70.5%) were the mainstay of therapy there.
