Abstract
PURPOSE Depression and suicidal ideation (SI) are common in adolescents. However, the relation between the two is unclear. According to the cognitive model of suicidal behavior and learned helplessness theory, lack of certainty in control (LCC), referring to individuals' deficiency in predictability, certainty, and control of life, may be an important factor linking the two. Thus, the current study aimed to investigate the temporal relation between depression and SI in adolescents and to assess the mediating role of LCC in this relation. METHODS A three-wave survey was carried out at intervals of 1 and 1.5 years among 516 adolescents at several middle schools in Sichuan Province, China. The random-intercept cross-lagged panel model was used to examine the temporal relations between depression, SI, and LCC among adolescents, which can effectively distinguish between-person and within-person differences. RESULTS The results revealed that depression, SI, and LCC had positive intercorrelations at the between-person level. At the within-person level, early depression predicted subsequent depression and SI via LCC among adolescents. Additionally, early LCC promoted later SI through depression. DISCUSSION These findings highlight the mediating role of LCC, clarify the temporal relation between depression and SI, and provide theoretical support for interventions to address depression and suicide.

Abstract
Increased expression of CXCL10 and its receptor CXCR3 represents an inflammatory response in cells and tissues. Macrophage polarization and autophagy are major functions in inflammatory macrophages; however, the cellular functions of the CXCL10-CXCR3 axis in macrophages are not well understood. Here, we examined the role of CXCL10-CXCR3-axis-regulated autophagy in macrophage polarization. First, in non-inflammatory macrophages, whereas CXCL10 promotes M2 polarization and inhibits M1 polarization, CXCR3 antagonist AMG487 induces the opposite macrophage polarization. Next, CXCL10 promotes the expression of autophagy proteins (Atg5-Atg12 complex, p62, LC3-II, and LAMP1) and AMG487 inhibits their expression. Knockdown of LAMP1 by short interfering RNA switches the CXCL10-induced polarization from M2 to M1 in non-inflammatory macrophages. Furthermore, in inflammatory macrophages stimulated by poly(I:C), CXCL10 induces M1 polarization and AMG487 induces M2 polarization in association with a decrease in LAMP1. Finally, AMG487 alleviates lung injury after poly(I:C) treatment in mice. In conclusion, CXCL10-CXCR3 axis differentially directs macrophage polarization in inflammatory and non-inflammatory states, and autophagy protein LAMP1 acts as the switch controlling the direction of macrophage polarization by CXCL10-CXCR3.

Abstract
Enolase-1 (Eno1) plays a critical role in regulating glucose metabolism; however, its specific impact on pancreatic islet β-cells remains elusive. This study aimed to provide a preliminary exploration of Eno1 function in pancreatic islet β-cells. The findings revealed that the expression of ENO1 mRNA in type 2 diabetes donors was significantly increased and positively correlated with HbA1C and negatively correlated with insulin gene expression. A high level of Eno1 in human insulin-secreting rat INS-1832/13 cells with co-localization with intracellular insulin proteins was accordingly observed. Silencing of Eno1 using siRNA or inhibiting Eno1 protein activity with an Eno1 antagonist significantly reduced insulin secretion and insulin content in β-cells, while the proinsulin/insulin content ratio remained unchanged. This reduction in β-cells function was accompanied by a notable decrease in intracellular ATP and mitochondrial cytochrome C levels. Overall, our findings confirm that Eno1 regulates the insulin secretion process, particularly glucose metabolism and ATP production in the β-cells. The mechanism primarily involves its influence on insulin production, suggesting that Eno1 represents a potential target for β-cell protection and diabetes treatment.

Abstract
Childhood maltreatment has long-term negative effects on individuals' physical and mental well-being, and may increase the risk for suicidal ideation. However, how different patterns of childhood maltreatment affect subsequent suicidal ideation and the underlying mediating mechanisms remain unclear, particularly among Chinese adolescents. This study used latent profile analysis to identify patterns of childhood maltreatment among adolescents and explored how these patterns predicted subsequent suicidal ideation via depression, hope, and expressive suppression. This study used a two-wave, 1-year longitudinal design and included 2156 adolescents (Mage = 13.97 years, SDage = 1.61 years; 49.6% females). We identified three patterns of childhood maltreatment: low maltreatment, high psychological neglect, and high maltreatment. Compared with the low maltreatment group, the high maltreatment group indirectly predicted subsequent suicidal ideation 1 year later via depression through hope and expressive suppression, whereas the direct effect on suicidal ideation was not significant. Compared with the low maltreatment group, the high psychological neglect group had a significant direct effect on subsequent suicidal ideation and indirectly predicted suicidal ideation through depression or hope. Identifying patterns of childhood maltreatment among adolescents will assist mental health workers in developing targeted interventions to effectively alleviate suicidal ideation.

Abstract
Background: Various coping strategies have been shown to alleviate the negative effects of trauma, yet the significance of prosocial behaviour in this realm has been notably underexplored. The present study explored the hypothesis that engaging in prosocial behaviour mitigates the impacts of trauma by promoting a sense of competence and relatedness, post-traumatic growth (PTG), and reconstruction of meaning.Methods: Three consecutive studies were conducted with college students to compare differences in consequence of prosocial behaviours between a trauma group and a control group. Study 1 (N = 96) used self-reported experiences of traumatic vs non-traumatic events; Study 2 (N = 43) used exposure vs. no exposure to video of an earthquake; Study 3 (N = 20) used a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of a prosocial-themed intervention vs. no intervention. Outcomes in all studies were assessed by self-report questionnaires.Results: Trauma damaged participants' sense of competence and meaningfulness. Prosocial behaviour relieved the impact of trauma on meaning, specifically manifested in the individuals' sense of meaningfulness and their search for meaning. Group interventions with a prosocial theme (based on effect size results) reduced post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and enhanced PTG in victims. The promoting effect on PTG persisted a month later, and its enhancing effect on meaning manifested with a delay.Conclusion: Prosocial behaviour can potentially serve as a beneficial strategy for individuals coping with trauma because it helps enhance meaning and promotes PTG in victims. This conclusion is supported by laboratory experiments and a tentative small-scale intervention study, which provide an innovative perspective for future trauma interventions.

Abstract
For the purpose of determining the placement of Calyptraeidae within the Littorinimorpha, we hereby furnish a thorough analysis of the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) sequence of Desmaulus extinctorium. This mitogenome spans 16,605 base pairs and encompasses the entire set of 37 genes, including 13 PCGs, 22 tRNAs and two rRNAs, with an evident AT bias. Notably, tRNASer1 and tRNASer2 lack dihydrouracil (DHU) arms, resulting in an inability to form a secondary structure. Similarly, tRNAAla lacks a TΨC arm, rendering it incapable of forming a secondary structure. In contrast, the remaining tRNAs demonstrate a characteristic secondary structure reminiscent of a cloverleaf. A comparison with ancestral gastropods reveals distinct differences in three gene clusters (or genes), encompassing 15 tRNAs and eight PCGs. Notably, inversions and translocations represent the major types of rearrangements observed in D. extinctorium. Phylogenetic analysis demonstrates robust support for a monophyletic grouping of all Littorinimorpha species, with D. extinctorium representing a distinct Calyptraeoidea clade. In summary, this investigation provides the first complete mitochondrial dataset for a species of the Calyptraeidae, thus providing novel insights into the phylogenetic relationships within the Littorinimorpha.

Abstract
The complete mitochondrial genome provides crucial information for comprehending gene rearrangement, molecular evolution, and phylogenetic analysis. Here, we have determined the complete mitogenome sequence of Gonatopsis borealis and Onychoteuthis compacta for the first time. Their genome sizes were 20,148 bp and 20,491 bp, respectively, including 18 protein-coding genes, COI-COIII, ATP6, and ATP8 are duplicated, 23 transfer RNA genes, and 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes (12S and 16S rRNA). Specifically, the overall A+T content is 70.69% and 72.67%. It shows a significant AT bias. The whole mitogenomes indicate positive AT skew (0.070 and 0.062). Furthermore, the gene order has been rearranged within Oegopsida. The tandem duplication random loss model was determined as most likely to explain the observed gene rearrangements. Phylogenetic analysis was performed, and the result tree was found to be consistent with the morphological identification classification. Estimation of divergence time for 35 species showed that the main differentiation of Oegopsida occurred in 140.70 Mya. These results will help to better understand the gene rearrangements and evolution of G. borealis and O. compacta and lay a foundation for further phylogeny genetic studies of Oegopsida.

Abstract
Long-term tumour recurrence rates and complications of endoscope-assisted partial superficial parotidectomy (PSP) are rarely reported compared to traditional open approaches. This retrospective study included 306 patients with superficial parotid benign neoplasms who were divided into an endoscopy group (endoscope-assisted PSP, n = 102) and a control group (conventional PSP, n = 204). There were no significant differences in clinical and pathological characteristics between the two groups, except age (P = 0.001). Three patients had confirmed recurrence during a mean follow-up duration of 125.1 months. Ten (9.8%) patients in the endoscopy group and 22 (10.8%) in the control group developed transient facial nerve palsy (P = 0.792), and recovered 6 months after the operation. Nine (8.8%) and 19 (9.3%) patients, respectively, suffered from Frey syndrome (P = 0.889). A sensory deficit of the auricle occurred in 24 (23.5%) and 57 (27.9%) patients respectively (P = 0.410). Patients in the endoscopy group were more satisfied with the postoperative scar than those in the control group (P < 0.001). This study demonstrated that the endoscope-assisted PSP can be curative, with better cosmetic outcomes than the conventional approach, and does not increase the incidence of postoperative complications or the local recurrence rate.

Abstract
AIM To develop a clinical-radiological model to predict the malignancy of solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs) and to evaluate the accuracy of chest computed tomography imaging characteristics of SPN in diagnosing pathological type. MATERIALS AND METHODS The predictive model was developed using a retrospective cohort of 601 SPN patients (Group A) between July 2015 and July 2020. The established model was tested using a second retrospective cohort of 124 patients between August 2020 and August 2021 (Group B). The radiological characteristics of all adenocarcinomas in two groups were analysed to determine the correlation between radiological and pathological characteristics. RESULTS Malignant nodules were found in 78.87% of cases and benign in 21.13%. Two clinical characteristics (age and gender) and four radiological characteristics (calcification, vascular convergence, pleural retraction sign, and density) were identified as independent predictors of malignancy in patients with SPN using logistic regression analysis. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (0.748) of the present model was greater than the other two reported models. Diameter, spiculation, lobulation, vascular convergence, and pleural retraction signs differed significantly among pre-invasive lesions, minimally invasive adenocarcinoma, and invasive adenocarcinoma. Only diameter and density were significantly different among invasive adenocarcinoma subtypes. CONCLUSIONS Older age, male gender, no calcification, vascular convergence, pleural contraction sign, and lower density were independent malignancy predictors of SPNs. Furthermore, the pathological classification can be clarified based on the radiological characteristics of SPN, providing a new option for the prevention and treatment of early lung cancer.

Abstract
Nerita yoldii is a euryhaline species commonly found in the intertidal zone. To investigate the genetic diversity of 233 N. yoldii individuals from eight locations along the coast of China, we utilized the mitochondrial COI gene as a molecular marker. A total of 34 haplotypes were detected, exhibiting a mean haplotype diversity (Hd) of 0.5915 and a mean nucleotide diversity (Pi) of 0.0025, indicating high levels of genetic diversity among all populations. An analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) indicated that the primary source of genetic variation occurs within populations. In addition, neutral tests and mismatch analyses suggested that N. yoldii populations may have experienced bottleneck events. Moderate genetic differentiation was observed between Xiapu and other populations, excluding the Taizhou population, and may be attributed to the ocean currents. Intensively studying the genetic variation and population structure of N. yoldii populations contributes to understanding the current population genetics of N. yoldii in the coastal regions of China. This not only provides a reference for the study of other organisms in the same region but also lays the foundation for the systematic evolution of the Neritidae family.

Abstract
Growth is a fundamental aspect of aquaculture breeding programs, pivotal for successful cultivation. Understanding the mechanisms that govern growth and development differences across various stages can significantly boost seedling production of economically valuable species, thereby enhancing aquaculture efficiency and advancing the aquaculture industry. Mytilus coruscus, a commercially vital marine bivalve, underscores this importance. To decipher the intricate molecular mechanisms dictating growth and developmental disparities in marine shellfish, we conducted transcriptome sequencing and meticulously analyzed gene expression variations and molecular pathways linked to growth traits in M. coruscus. This study delved into the molecular and gene expression variations across five larval development stages, with a specific focus on scrutinizing the differential expression patterns of growth-associated genes using RNA sequencing and quantitative real-time PCR analysis. A substantial number of genes-36,044 differentially expressed genes (DEGs)-exhibited significant differential expression between consecutive developmental stages. These DEGs were then categorized into multiple pathways (Q value < 0.05), including crucial pathways such as the spliceosome, vascular smooth muscle contraction, DNA replication, and apoptosis, among others. In addition, we identified two pivotal signaling pathways-the Hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathway and the TGF-beta (TGF-β) signaling pathway-associated with the growth and development of M. coruscus larvae. Ten key growth-related genes were pinpointed, each playing crucial roles in molecular function and the regulation of growth traits in M. coruscus. These genes and pathways associated with growth provide deep insights into the molecular basis of physiological adaptation, metabolic processes, and growth variability in marine bivalves.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics of patients with common cardiovascular diseases (CVD, including hypertension, coronary heart disease, atrial fibrillation, and heart failure) combined with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and explore the potential risk factors of MCI in patients with CVD. Methods: A total of 2 294 patients with common cardiovascular diseases who met the criteria at Cardiology Medical Center in Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University, from June 1, 2021, to January 5, 2022, were retrospectively included. The patients were divided into the normal cognitive function group (1 107 cases) and the MCI group (1 187 cases). Demographic information and CVD status were collected. The information of cognitive function were collected using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scales. The difference between normal cognitive function and MCI were compared and analyzed. The logistic regression analysis was used to explored risk factors of MCI in CVD patients. Results: A total of 2 294 patients aged (60.6±10.4) years were included, among whom there were 29.99% (688 cases) females. Compared with patients in the normal cognitive function group, patients in the MCI group were older [ (57.9±11.4) vs (63.1±8.9) years old, P<0.001], with a higher proportion of women [26.47% (293 cases) vs 33.28% (395 cases), P<0.001]; there was a higher proportion of patients suffering from hypertension in the MCI group [59.62% (660 cases) vs 64.62% (767 cases), P=0.014], and more components of CVD [(1.68±0.62) vs (1.74±0.65) components, P=0.017]. The risk factors of MCI in patients with common CVD were increased age, increased depression score, combined with hypertension, and ≥3 common components of CVD, with OR (95%CI) of 1.043 (1.032-1.054), 1.021 (1.004-1.037), 1.151 (1.142-3.439), and 1.137 (1.023-1.797), respectively (all P values <0.05). Increasing education level was observed to be associated with reduced risk of MCI with OR (95%CI) of 0.319 (0.271-0.378) (P<0.05). Conclusions: The incidence of MCI was high in CVD patients. The risk factors of MCI in CVD patients included hypertension and≥3 common components of CVD.

Abstract
Neogastropoda is a group of marine organisms with an extremely wide distribution that is rich in species and economic and ornamental values, the classification of species in this order has been ongoing for a long time, but there is still a great controversy about whether this order is monophyletic. In this study, we obtained the complete mitogenome of Lophiotoma leucotropis by next-generation sequencing and analyzed the basic structural features of the genome, and we found that the number of genes was consistent with that of most of the Neogastropoda snails, containing 37 genes, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 2 rRNAs, and 22 tRNAs. Analyzing base content, amino acid content, codon usage preference, and tRNA structure, the mitogenomes of eight species of Turridae were selected for analysis of selection pressures, and it was found that the evolution of species in this family was affected by purifying selection. In addition, by analyzing the rearrangement characteristics, it was found that the sequence of L. leucotropis was consistent with the Conoidea consensus order, and four of the eight species involved in the analysis showed rearrangements. Finally, we constructed a phylogenetic tree by combining PCGs of 60 species within Caenogastropoda and found Neogastropoda to be a monophyletic group, validating the results of morphological classification. The results will provide more references for the classification and species evolution of Neogastropoda, as well as phylogenetic analysis.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the distribution and hantavirus (HV) carrying state in host animals of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in Henan Province from 2019 to 2022. Methods: Host animal monitoring was carried out at the monitoring sites of HFRS in Henan Province. The real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect hantavirus in rat lungs. The types of hantavirus were analyzed. The positive samples were sequenced and then sequence homology and variation were analyzed. Results: A total of 1 308 rodents were captured from 2019 to 2022, 16 specimens of rat lungs tested positive for hantavirus nucleic acid. The positive rate of HV was 1.22% (16/1 308). According to type, the positive rate of HV in Apodius agrarius was the highest (68.75%, 11/16). According to distribution, the positive rate of HV in field samples was the highest (2.50%, 12/480), and the positive rate of HV in residential samples was 0.53% (4/759). The typing results of 16 positive samples showed that all viruses were hantavirus type Ⅰ (hantaan virus). The positive samples were sequenced and eight S gene fragments (GenBank number: OQ681444-OQ681451) and six M gene fragments (OQ681438-OQ681443) were obtained. The S and M gene fragments were similar to the Shaanxi 84FLi strain and Sichuan SN7 strain. Phylogenetic analysis of S and M gene fragments showed that they all belonged to the hantaan virus-H5 subtype. Amino acid sequence analysis revealed that, compared with the hantaan virus vaccine strain 84FLi, the 74th amino acid encoded by eight S fragments was replaced by aspartamide with serine. Tryptophan was replaced by glycine at the 14th position of Gn region in XC2022047, and isoleucine was replaced by alanine at the 359 position of XC2022022 and XC2022024. Conclusion: The hantavirus carried by host animals in Henan Province from 2019 to 2022 belongs to the type Ⅰ (hantaan virus), and Apodemus agrarius is still the dominant host animal of the hantaan virus. Compared with the vaccine strains, amino acid sites are replaced in the immune epitopes of the S and M gene fragments.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The association between asthma and COVID-19 mortality remains inconclusive. We examined the association between asthma and clinical outcomes of patients with COVID-19. STUDY DESIGN A case-control study based on a surveillance cohort in Harris County, Texas. METHODS Using the data of 21,765 patients who reported having at least one chronic health condition, we investigated the association between asthma and COVID-19 severity, characterized primarily by hospitalization and death. Unconditional logistic regression models were used to estimate the multivariable odds ratio (mOR) and its 95 % confidence interval (CI) of COVID-19 severity associated with asthma and other chronic lung diseases, adjusting for demographic and other comorbidities. A P-value < 0.005 was considered statistically significant after correcting multiple testing. RESULTS In total, 3034 patients (13.9 %) had asthma, and 774 (3.56 %) had other chronic lung diseases. The case death rate among patients with asthma and other chronic lung diseases was 0.75 % and 19.0 %, respectively. Compared to patients without the respective conditions, patients with asthma had lower odds of death (mOR = 0.44, 95 % CI: 0.27-0.69), while patients with other chronic lung diseases had higher odds of hospitalization (mOR = 2.02, 95 % CI: 1.68-2.42) and death (mOR = 1.95, 95 % CI: 1.52-2.49) (P-values < 0.005). Risk factors for COVID-19 mortality included older age, male gender, diabetes, obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, active cancer, and chronic kidney disease. CONCLUSIONS The public health surveillance data suggested that preexisting asthma was inversely associated with COVID-19 mortality.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION To evaluate eye growth of children wearing spectacle lenses with highly aspherical lenslets (HAL), slightly aspherical lenslets (SAL) and single-vision lenses (SVL) compared to eye growth patterns in non-myopes in Wenzhou, China. METHODS The randomised trial had 170 myopic children (aged 8-13 years) randomly assigned to the HAL, SAL or SVL group. Normal eye growth was examined using 700 non-myopic schoolchildren (aged 7-9 years) in the Wenzhou Medical University-Essilor Progression and Onset of Myopia (WEPrOM) cohort study using logistic function models. Slow, normal and fast eye growth was defined as range of values <25th, 25th-75th and >75th percentiles, respectively. RESULTS The predicted upper limits of slow eye growth (25th percentile) among non-myopes aged 7-10 years and 11-13 years were 0.20-0.13 and 0.08-0.01 mm (after 2-year period; 0.37-0.33 and 0.29-0.14 mm), respectively, while the upper limits of normal eye growth (75th percentile) were 0.32-0.31 and 0.28-0.10 mm (after 2-year period; 0.58-0.55 and 0.50-0.24 mm), respectively. The 2-year trial had 157 children, 96 of whom wore their lenses full time (everyday ≥12 h/day). The mean 2-year axial length change for HAL, SAL and SVL was 0.34, 0.51 and 0.69 mm (0.28, 0.46 and 0.69 mm in full-time wear), respectively. Slow eye growth was found in 35%, 17% and 2% (44%, 29% and 3% in full-time wear); normal eye growth in 35%, 26% and 12% (44%, 32% and 9% in full-time wear) and fast eye growth in 30%, 57% and 86% (12%, 39% and 88% in full-time wear), respectively (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS The eye growth pattern in approximately 90% wearing HAL full time (compared with about 10% wearing SVL full time) was similar or slower than that of non-myopic children both after 1- and 2-year periods.

Abstract
Little information is available on the toxicity of microplastics (MPs) under different salinities in aquatic organisms. Consequently, the effects of larvae exposure to 180 μg/L MPs with 5.0 μm diameter on growth, antioxidant capacity and stress response were investigated in exposed F1 larvae and unexposed F2 larvae in marine medaka Oryzias melastigma at 5 ‰ and 25 ‰ salinities. Poor growth performance of F1 and F2 larvae and F1 adult fish was merely found under high salinity, as well as changes in the growth hormone/insulin-like growth factor-I (GH/IGF). Although malondialdehyde (MDA) content and antioxidant capacity remained constant in F1 larvae under high salinity, MPs increased MDA content and reduced antioxidant capacity in F2 larvae. Contrarily, MDA and antioxidant capacity increased in F1 and F2 larvae under low salinity. The mRNA expression levels of genes in the NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) pathway were dysregulated. Cortisol levels in the whole body increased in F1 larvae and recovered to the control level under low salinity while cortisol levels declined in F1 larvae and increased in F2 larvae under high salinity, which was related to the transcriptional regulation of the hypothalamus-pituitary-interrenal (HPI) axis genes. To summary, the present study determined the toxic effects of MPs on growth, antioxidant capacity, and stress response by disturbing Nrf2, HPI, and GH/IGF signaling in exposed larvae and unexposed offspring of marine medaka in a salinity-dependent manner. For the first time, our results highlight the interference effects of salinity on MPs toxicity in fish.

Abstract
Family function reflects the operating status of the family system, which plays a vital role in children's mental health. The current meta-analysis examined the association between family function and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in children and adolescents for the first time. Studies published from 1980 to 2021 were identified via searching and screening. We identified 31 studies (91 unique effects) with 8,684 children. A three-level meta-analysis revealed that overall family function was negatively associated with PTSD (r = -0.205). Among elements of family function, family affect (r = -0.251), communication (r = -0.221), and cohesion (r = -0.184) were associated with less PTSD, whereas family conflict (r = 0.228) was associated with more PTSD in children. Family flexibility (r = -0.103) was not associated with PTSD. Moderator analyses revealed differences between various types of trauma events and family function scales. The findings highlight the differences in the roles of the elements of family function and suggest that interventions should be focused on targeting specific elements of family function.

Abstract
This study assessed temporal associations between parent-child relationship, parenting behaviors (i.e., warmth, rejection, and overprotection), and adolescents' depressive symptoms after trauma, using random-intercept cross-lagged panel models to distinguish between- and within-adolescent differences. We surveyed Chinese adolescents 12 (Aug 2018; T1), 21 (May 2019; T2), 27 (Nov 2019; T3) months after the Jiuzhaigou earthquake that occurred in August 2017. Of the 585 adolescents who participated in at least two waves of the study, mean age at T1 was 15.50 years old (SD = 1.58 years) and 57.8% were girls. Controlling adolescents' gender, age, ethnicity, trauma exposure at T1, and parents' marital status, between-adolescent results showed that parent-child relationship and parenting behaviors, parent-child relationship and depressive symptoms were correlated across models of parental warmth, rejection, and overprotection, whereas depressive symptoms were only correlated with parental rejection and overprotection. Within-adolescent results indicated that parent-child relationship and adolescents' depressive symptoms had bidirectional associations via the mediation of parental warmth from T1 to T3. Over the longer term following the earthquake, we found that parental rejection was bidirectionally associated with adolescents' depressive symptoms, whereas parental overprotection was unidirectionally influenced by adolescents' depressive symptoms from T2 to T3. In addition, more depressive symptoms in adolescents were associated with worsening parent-child relationship from T2 to T3. In conclusion, shortly after trauma, interventions should focus on improving parent-child relationship and relieving adolescents' depressive symptoms. Over the longer term after trauma, relieving adolescents' depressive symptoms should be prioritized to avoid its eroding effects on parent-child relationship and parenting behaviors, and to break the "vicious cycle".

Abstract
Dental caries is a dynamic disease induced by the unbalance between demineralization of dental hard tissues caused by biofilm and remineralization of them; however, although various effective remineralization methods have been well documented, it is a challenge to reestablish the balance by enhancing remineralization alone while ignoring the antibacterial therapy. Therefore, the integration of remineralizing and antibacterial technologies offers a promising strategy to halt natural caries progression in clinical practice. Here, the conception of interrupting dental caries (IDC) was proposed based on the development of dual-functional coating with remineralizing and antibacterial properties. In this study, bovine serum albumin (BSA) loaded octenidine (OCT) successfully to form a BSA-OCT composite. Subsequently, through fast amyloid-like aggregation, the phase-transited BSA-OCT (PTB-OCT) coating can be covered on teeth, resin composite, or sealant surfaces in 30 min by a simple smearing process. The PTB-OCT coating showed satisfactory effects in promoting the remineralization of demineralized enamel and dentin in vitro. Moreover, this coating also exerted significant acid-resistance stability and anti-biofilm properties. Equally importantly, this coating exhibited promising abilities in reducing the microleakage between the tooth and resin composite in vitro and preventing primary and secondary caries in vivo. In conclusion, this novel dual-functional PTB-OCT coating could reestablish the balance between demineralization and remineralization in the process of caries, thereby potentially preventing or arresting caries.

Abstract
Fluorine is a halogen element widely distributed in nature, but due to excessive emissions from industrial manufacturing and agricultural production, etc., the soil is over-enriched with fluoride and the normal growth of plants is under stress, and it also poses a great threat to human health. In this review, we summarized the sources of fluoride in soil, and then analyzed the potential mechanisms of fluoride uptake in soil-plant systems. In addition, the main influences of soil ecosystems on plant fluoride uptake were discussed, soil management options to mitigate fluoride accumulation in plants were also summarized. The bioremediation techniques were found to be a developmental direction to improve fluoride pollution. Finally, we proposed other research directions, including fluoride uptake mechanisms in soil-plant systems at the molecular expression levels, development of visualization techniques for fluoride transport in plants, interactions mechanisms between soil microhabitats and plant metabolism affecting fluoride uptake, as well as combining abiotic additives, nanotechnology and biotechnology to remediate fluoride contamination problems.

Abstract
Background Follicular lymphoma (FL) is characterized by an incurable course that frequently necessitates multiple lines of treatment. While a range of new approaches have broadened therapeutic options for patients in later lines, data regarding treatment patterns and outcomes of Chinese patients with relapsed/refractory(R/R) FL was scarcely reported. Methods This retrospective single-center study included patients diagnosed with FL grades 1-3a at our institution between January 2002 and December 2019. Endpoints of interest were analyzed according to lines and types of interventions. The endpoints mainly included overall response rate (ORR), progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS). Results The study enrolled 566 biopsy-proven patients. Among them, 544 patients initiated the first line of treatment, followed by 240 initiating the second line, 146 initiating the third line, 88 initiating the fourth line, 47 initiating the fifth line, and 28 initiating the sixth line. In terms of treatment patterns, anti-CD20 chemotherapy was a major modality in the first and second lines. However, for patients in the third line and subsequent lines, treatment approaches were diverse, and participation in clinical trials for new medications was common, which correlated with a survival benefit. The study also revealed that clinical indicators (such as ORR, PFS, and OS) gradually decreased with each subsequent line of treatment. The ORR at the first line was 86.6%, but decreased to 48.6% at the third line and 40.4% at the sixth line, respectively. Similarly, median OS and PFS decreased to 88.8 and 7.1 months at the third line and further reduced to 21.7 and 2.8 months at the sixth line, respectively. A total of 133 patients developed progression within 24 months from the initiation of first line anti-CD20 chemotherapy (POD24), and these patients exhibited poorer response rates and outcomes in subsequent lines of therapycompared to the non-POD24 group. Conclusion This study revealed the clinical routine practices and prognosis of R/R FL patients within the Chinese population. It underscored the unmet need for optimal strategies to improve survival and also served as a benchmark for future trials.

Abstract
Aeromonas is one of the most serious pathogens in freshwater aquaculture. Overuse of antibiotics for the treatment of fish diseases has led to the frequent occurrence of drug-resistant strains. Phage therapy is an alternative approach to overcoming the multi-drug resistance associated with antibiotics. In this study, a novel phage phiA034 targeting the host A. veronii A034 was isolated. The phage could infect 14 strains of 4 species Aeromonas. The phage phiA034 displayed head-tail structure with an icosahedral head in the TEM image. At the optimal MOI of 1, it had a latent period of nearly 20 minutes and a burst size of 286 PFU/cell. Besides, the phage phiA034 exhibited high tolerance to a wide range of temperature (30-70 °C) and acid-base (pH 6.0-10.0). The whole genome of phage phiA034 was sequenced with a size of 61,443 bp and annotated with 82 ORFs, mainly related to structure, DNA replication, and lysis. Based on the analysis and comparison of the genomes and proteomes, phage phiA034 could be classified as a novel species of an existing genus Duplodnaviria Heunggongvirae, Uroviricota, Caudoviricetes, Casjensviridae, Sharonstreetvirus. These findings have expanded the species bank and genomes library of bacterial virus and will promote the application of phage therapy in Aeromonas disease.

Abstract
To investigate two clusters of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) in Xinyang City, Henan Province, in 2022, and analyze their causes, transmission route, risk factors, and the characteristics of virus genetic variation. Case search and case investigation were carried out according to the case definition. Blood samples from cases, family members and neighbors and samples of biological vectors were collected for RT-PCR to detect SFTSV. The whole genome sequencing and bioinformatics analysis were performed on the collected positive samples. A total of two clustered outbreaks occurred, involving two initial cases and ten secondary cases, all of which were family recurrent cases. Among them, nine secondary cases had close contact with the blood of the initial case, and it was determined that close contact with blood was the main risk factor for the two clustered outbreaks. After genome sequencing analysis, we found that the SFTSV genotype in two cases was type A, which was closely related to previous endemic strains in Xinyang. The nucleotide sequence of the SFTSV in the case was highly homologous, with a total of nine amino acid mutation sites in the coding region. It was not ruled out that its mutation sites might have an impact on the outbreak of the epidemic.

Abstract
The extant marine mussels which belong to the Mytiloidea are widespread species inhabiting mostly coastal waters, with some distributed in the deep sea. To clarify the classification systems and phylogenetic relationships range from genus to family level within Mytiloidea, new sequence was used in a phylogenetic analysis including all the available Mytiloidea mitochondrial genomes. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Vignadula atrata is 15,624 bp in length and contains 12 protein-coding genes (PCGs, atp8 is absent), two ribosomal RNA genes, and 22 transfer RNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis based on 12 PCGs showed that it has a close relationship to Bathymodiolus. The analysis of gene rearrangements in the Pteriomorphia showed that the arrangements are highly variable across species, novel gene rearrangements were found within Mytiloidea. The V. atrata mitogenome was provided in detail, with notes on the sequence and a key to the species of Vignadula. This study provides a perspective on the taxonomic histories of the marine mussels and refines the unclear relationship between the origin and evolution of species in Mytiloidea within Bivalvia.

Abstract
Atopic dermatitis(AD)is a chronic, recurrent, inflammatory skin disease in children. The disease is characterized by dryness, chronic eczema-like lesions and obvious itching, seriously affecting the quality of life of children and their families. The pathogenesis of AD is not yet to be clear, and it might be the interaction of genetic susceptibility and environmental exposure to induce skin barrier impairment and immune system dysfunction. In recent years, the role of maternal factors or intrauterine environment exposure on childhood allergic diseases has been attracted attention, and the hypothesis that allergic diseases originate from the fetal period has been postulated. Maternal exposures called "early life exposure", such as nutritional factors during pregnancy (folate, vitamin D, vitamin E and polyunsaturated fatty acid) and tobacco exposure, home environmental exposure may be related with childhood atopic dermatitis. This article would focus on the recent research about maternal nutritional factors and family environmental exposure during pregnancy on offspring's atopic dermatitis.

Abstract
The hard-shell mussel (Mytilus coruscus) is widespread in the temperate coastal areas of the northwest Pacific and holds a significant position in the shellfish aquaculture market in China. However, the natural resources of this species have been declining, and population genetic studies of M. coruscus are also lacking. In this study, we conducted whole-genome resequencing (WGR) of M. coruscus from eight different latitudes along the Chinese coast and identified a total of 25,859,986 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers. Our findings indicated that the genetic diversity of M. coruscus from the Zhoushan region was lower compared with populations from other regions. Furthermore, we observed that the evolutionary tree clustered into two primary branches, and the Zhangzhou (ZZ) population was in a separate branch. The ZZ population was partly isolated from populations in other regions, but the distribution of branches was not geographically homogeneous, and a nested pattern emerged, consistent with the population differentiation index (FST) results. To investigate the selection characteristics, we utilized the northern M. coruscus populations (Dalian and Qingdao) and the central populations (Zhoushan and Xiangshan) as reference populations and the southern ZZ population as the target population. Our selection scan analysis identified several genes associated with thermal responses, including Hsp70 and CYP450. These genes may play important roles in the adaptation of M. coruscus to different living environments. Overall, our study provides a comprehensive understanding of the genomic diversity of coastal M. coruscus in China and is a valuable resource for future studies on genetic breeding and the evolutionary adaptation of this species.

Abstract
To further understand the origin and evolution of Palaemonidae (Decapoda: Caridea), we determined the mitochondrial genome sequence of Palaemon macrodactylus and Palaemon tenuidactylus. The entire mitochondrial genome sequences of these two Palaemon species encompassed 37 typical genes, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), and 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), and a control region (CR). The lengths of their mitochondrial genomes were 15,744 bp (P. macrodactylus) and 15,735 bp (P. tenuidactylus), respectively. We analyzed their genomic features and structural functions. In comparison with the ancestral Decapoda, these two newly sequenced Palaemon species exhibited a translocation event, where the gene order was trnK-trnD instead of trnD-trnK. Based on phylogenetic analysis constructed from 13 PCGs, the 12 families from Caridea can be divided into four major clades. Furthermore, it was revealed that Alpheidae and Palaemonidae formed sister groups, supporting the monophyly of various families within Caridea. These findings highlight the significant gene rearrangements within Palaemonidae and provide valuable evidence for the phylogenetic relationships within Caridea.

Abstract
In recent years, microplastics have been of great concern in environmental and health research. In field surgeries and laboratory investigations, research interests were focused on the retention of microplastics inside of animals by ingestion and the series of negative effects after that. However, such large plastic debris and filaments are hardly eaten by small animals, like zooplankton, planktonic larvae, etc. In this study, the surface contact between plastic filaments contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and mussel pediveliger larvae has been investigated to figure out the effects of "non-digestive tract route of exposure" on subject animals. In a 1600 mL artificial seawater medium, high mortalities of mussel larvae were recorded after being exposed to two PAHs-contaminated (benzo[α]pyrene (BaP) and phenanthrene (Phe)) filaments for 5 days, 68.63% for BaP and 56.45% for Phe on average. We suggest that the surface contact was the dominant pathway to transfer PAHs from contaminated filaments to larvae and that the risk of contaminated plastic ropes transferring hydrophobic organic compounds (HOCs) to larvae in mussel aquaculture should be taken seriously.

Abstract
Using cultivated soils for rice seedlings can reduce the sustainability of arable land and thus giving negative impacts to food production. As a substitute, spent mushroom compost (SMC), which has high water-holding capacity and nutrient content, shows great potentials. To determine the impacts of the proportion of SMC and paddy soil on seedling quality, rhizosphere microbial characteristics, and fungal pathogens in rice seedling substrates, we conducted a 21-day pot experiment for rice seedling under five treatments: CK, 100% paddy soil; R1, 20% SMC and 80% paddy soil; R2, 50% SMC and 50% paddy soil; R3, 80% SMC and 20% paddy soil; and R4, 100% SMC. The results showed that incorporating SMC into the substrate, especially at 50% volume (R2), increased seedling growth and vitality at the seedling growth stage without external fertilization. Moreover, the SMC amendment increased microbial activity and promoted rice seedling recruitment of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and fungi (PGPF). In addition, using SMC significantly reduced the abundance of pathogenic fungi, especially Magnaporthe grisea. Overall, the multi-faceted benefits exhibit the strong possibilities of using SMC in sustainable rice productions.

Abstract
The hard-shelled mussel Mytilus unguiculatus plays an important role in mussel aquaculture in China due to its characteristic and nutritive value. In this study, 10 microsatellite loci are used to study the genetic diversity and genetic structure of seven location populations of M. unguiculatus in coastal areas of China. The results of amplification and genotyping show that the observed heterozygosity (Ho) and the expected heterozygosity (He) are 0.61~0.71 and 0.72~0.83, respectively. M. unguiculatus has high genetic diversity. The inbreeding index (FIS) of M. unguiculatus is significantly positive (FIS: 0.14~0.19), indicating that inbreeding might exist within populations. The genetic structure of M. unguiculatus is weak within populations from the East China Sea All results showed that genetic differences existed between the Qingdao population from the Yellow Sea and other populations from the East China Sea. It does not detect a population bottleneck event or expansion event in the populations. The results from this study can be used to provide important insights in genetic management units and sustainable utilization of M. unguiculatus resources and provide a better understand of genetic structure of marine bivalve with similar planktonic larval stage in the China Sea.

Abstract
The circular mitochondrial genome of Mytilisepta virgata spans 14,713 bp, which contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 22 transfer RNA genes. Analysis of the 13 PCGs reveals that the mitochondrial gene arrangement of Mytilisepta is relatively conserved at the genus level. The location of the atp8 gene in Mytilisepta keenae differs from that of other species. However, compared with the putative molluscan ancestral gene order, M. virgata exhibits a high level of rearrangement. We constructed phylogenetic trees based on concatenated 12 PCGs from Mytilidae. As a result, we found that M. virgata is in the same clade as other Mytilisepta spp. The result of estimated divergence times revealed that M. virgata and M. keenae diverged around the early Paleogene period, although the oldest Mytilisepta fossil was from the late or upper Eocene period. Our results provide robust statistical evidence for a sister-group relationship within Mytilida. The findings not only confirm previous results, but also provide valuable insights into the evolutionary history of Mytilidae.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The incidence of infections among cancer patients is as high as 23.2-33.2% in China. However, the lack of information and data on the number of antibiotics used by cancer patients is an obstacle to implementing antibiotic management plans. AIM This study aimed to investigate bacterial infections and antibiotic resistance in Chinese cancer patients to provide a reference for the rational use of antibiotics. DESIGN This was a 5-year retrospective study on the antibiotic resistance of cancer patients. METHODS In this 5-year surveillance study, we collected bacterial and antibiotic resistance data from 20 provincial cancer diagnosis and treatment centers and three specialized cancer hospitals in China. We analyzed the resistance of common bacteria to antibiotics, compared to common clinical drug-resistant bacteria, evaluated the evolution of critical drug-resistant bacteria and conducted data analysis. FINDINGS Between 2016 and 2020, 216 219 bacterial strains were clinically isolated. The resistance trend of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae to amikacin, ciprofloxacin, cefotaxime, piperacillin/tazobactam and imipenem was relatively stable and did not significantly increase over time. The resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains to all antibiotics tested, including imipenem and meropenem, decreased over time. In contrast, the resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii strains to carbapenems increased from 4.7% to 14.7%. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) significantly decreased from 65.2% in 2016 to 48.9% in 2020. CONCLUSIONS The bacterial prevalence and antibiotic resistance rates of E. coli, K. pneumoniae, P. aeruginosa, A. baumannii, S. aureus and MRSA were significantly lower than the national average.

Abstract
Objective: To estimate the latent period and incubation period of Omicron variant infections and analyze associated factors. Methods: From January 1 to June 30, 2022, 467 infected persons and 335 confirmed cases in five local Omicron variant outbreaks in China were selected as the study subjects. The latent period and incubation period were estimated by using log-normal distribution and gamma distribution models, and the associated factors were analyzed by using the accelerated failure time model (AFT). Results: The median (Q1, Q3) age of 467 Omicron infections including 253 males (54.18%) was 26 (20, 39) years old. There were 132 asymptomatic infections (28.27%) and 335 (71.73%) symptomatic infections. The mean latent period of 467 Omicron infections was 2.65 (95%CI: 2.53-2.78) days, and 98% of infections were positive for nucleic acid detection within 6.37 (95%CI: 5.86-6.82) days after infection. The mean incubation period of 335 symptomatic infections was 3.40 (95%CI: 3.25-3.57) days, and 97% of them developed clinical symptoms within 6.80 (95%CI: 6.34-7.22) days after infection. The results of the AFT model analysis showed that compared with the group aged 18~49 years old, the latent period [exp(β)=1.36 (95%CI: 1.16-1.60), P<0.001] and incubation period [exp(β)=1.24 (95%CI: 1.07-1.45), P=0.006] of infections aged 0~17 year old were also prolonged. The latent period [exp(β)=1.38 (95%CI: 1.17-1.63), P<0.001] and the incubation period [exp(β)=1.26 (95%CI: 1.06-1.48), P=0.007] of infections aged 50 years old and above were also prolonged. Conclusion: The latent period and incubation period of most Omicron infections are within 7 days, and age may be the influencing factor of the latent period and incubation period.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the therapeutic effect and adverse effect of intravesical instillation of bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) for treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) and analyze the independent predictors of patient survival. METHODS We retrospectively collected the clinical data from 421 patients (mean age 61.79±11.51 years) with NMIBC, who received intravesical instillation of BCG after surgery in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center from September, 2015 to September, 2021. Recurrence-free survival (RFS), progression-free survival (PFS), and disease specific survival (DSS) of the patients were analyzed, and the adverse effects were assessed using Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events 5.0. Kaplan-Meier analysis, univariate and multivariate COX regression analyses were used to identify the independent predictors of the patients' survival outcomes. RESULTS The median follow-up of the patients was 17 months, during which 88 (20.9%) patients experienced recurrence (median time to recurrence of 10 months, range 3-58 months); 40 (9.5%) patients showed tumor progression (median time to progression of 18 months, range 3-50 months); and 14 (3.3%) patients died (median survival time of 30 months, range 8-52 months). Adverse events of grade 1, 2, and 3 occurred in 69, 110, and 23 of the patients, respectively. Survival analysis indicated that an age below 67.5 years (P=0.013), first tumor onset (P < 0.001), solitary tumor (P= 0.010), time to recurrence over one year (P=0.042), low levels of neutrophils (P=0.005), monocytes (P=0.005) and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR; P=0.014), and cytokeratin 19 fragment 21-1 (CyFra21-1; P=0.002) were all associated with a higher PFS rate. Multivariate COX analysis suggested that the time of tumor recurrence (P=0.007, HR=2.669, 95% CI: 1.316-5.414), monocyte counts (P=0.015, HR=0.376, 95% CI: 0.171-0.829), and serum CyFra21-1 level (P=0.002, HR=0.312, 95% CI: 0.151-0.647) were independent predictors of RFS; primary tumor or tumor relapse (P=0.003, HR=0.301, 95% CI: 0.138-0.660), neutrophil counts (P=0.028, HR=0.302, 95% CI: 0.103-0.882), and CyFra21-1 level (P=0.029, HR=0.358, 95% CI: 0.142-0.903) were independent predictors of PFS following BCG instillation. CONCLUSION Intravesical instillation of BCG is effective for treatment of intermediate or high-risk NMIBC, and the adverse effects are tolerable in most cases. The time of tumor recurrence, monocyte counts, and serum CyFra21-1 level are independent predictors of RFS, and primary tumor or tumor relapse, neutrophil counts, and CyFra21-1 level are independent predictors of PFS.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To establish the method for extracting exogenous short DNA fragments of Schistosoma japonicum from urine samples, and to evaluate the efficiency of this method for extraction from urine samples treated with various methods. METHODS The S. japonicum SjG28 gene fragment was selected as a target sequence, and the 81 bp short DNA fragment was amplified on the target sequence using PCR assay. Following characterization using sequencing, the short DNA fragment was added into the urine samples as an exogenous short DNA fragment. Primers and probes were designed with SjG28 as a target gene, to establish the real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR (qPCR) assay. The sensitivity of this qPCR assay was evaluated with exogenous short DNA fragments that were diluted at a 1:10 dilution ratio as the DNA template, and the specificity of the qPCR assay was evaluated with the genomic DNA of S. mansoni, S. haematobium, Babesia, Ancyiostoma duodenaie, Cionorchis sinensis, and Paragonimus westermani as DNA templates. Exogenous short DNA fragments were added into artificial and healthy volunteers' urine samples, followed by pH adjustment, centrifugation and concentration, and the efficiency of extracting exogenous short DNA fragments from urine samples was compared with the QIAmp Viral RNA Mini Kit (Qiagen kit) and BIOG cfDNA easy kit (BIOG kit). RESULTS An 81 bp small DNA fragment of S. japonicum was successfully prepared, and the lowest detection limit of the established qPCR assay was 100 copies/μL of the 81 bp small DNA fragment of S. japonicum. If the genomic DNA of S. japonicum, S. mansoni, S. haematobium, Babesia, A. duodenaie, C. sinensis, and P. westermani served as DNA templates, the qPCR assay only detected fluorescent signals with S. japonicum genomic DNA as the DNA template. If the pH values of artificial urine samples were adjusted to 5, 6, 7 and 8, the recovery rates were (49.12 ± 2.09)%, (84.52 ± 4.96)%, (89.38 ± 3.32)% and (87.82 ± 3.90)% for extracting the exogenous short DNA fragment of S. japonicum with the Qiagen kit, and were (2.30 ± 0.07)%, (8.11% ± 0.26)%, (13.35 ± 0.61)% and (20.82 ± 0.68)% with the BIOG kit, respectively (t = 38.702, 26.955, 39.042 and 29.571; all P values < 0.01). If the Qiagen kit was used for extracting the exogenous short DNA fragment from artificial urine samples, the lowest recovery rate was seen from urine samples with a pH value of 5 (all P values < 0.05), and there were no significant differences in the recovery rate from urine samples with pH values of 6, 7 and 8 (all P values > 0.05). Following centrifugation of artificial [(64.30 ± 1.00)% vs. (58.87 ± 0.26)%; t = 12.033, P < 0.05] and healthy volunteers' urine samples [(31 165 ± 1 017) copies/μL vs. (28 471 ± 818) copies/μL; t = 23.164, P < 0.05]. In addition, concentration of artificial urine samples with the 10 kDa Centrifugal Filter and concentration of healthy volunteers' urine samples with the 100 kDa Centrifugal Filter were both effective to increase the recovery of the Qiagen kit for extracting the exogenous short DNA fragment of S. japonicum (both P values < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS A method for extracting exogenous short DNA fragments of S. japonicum from urine samples has been successfully established, and the Qiagen kit has a high extraction efficiency. Adjustment of urine pH to 6 to 8 and concentration of healthy volunteers' urine samples with the 100 kDa Centrifugal Filter are both effective to increase the efficiency of extracting exogenous short DNA fragments of S. japonicum.

Abstract
To improve the taxonomy and systematics of Porcellanidae within the evolution of Anomura, we describe the complete mitochondrial genomes (mitogenomes) sequence of Pisidiaserratifrons, which is 15,344 bp in size, contains the entire set of 37 genes and has an AT-rich region. Compared with the pancrustacean ground pattern, at least five gene clusters (or genes) are significantly different with the typical genes, involving eleven tRNA genes and four PCGs and the tandem duplication/random loss and recombination models were used to explain the observed large-scale gene re-arrangements. The phylogenetic results showed that all Porcellanidae species clustered together as a group with well nodal support. Most Anomura superfamilies were found to be monophyletic, except Paguroidea. Divergence time estimation implies that the age of Anomura is over 225 MYA, dating back to at least the late Triassic. Most of the extant superfamilies and families arose during the late Cretaceous to early Tertiary. In general, the results obtained in this study will contribute to a better understanding of gene re-arrangements in Porcellanidae mitogenomes and provide new insights into the phylogeny of Anomura.

Abstract
Vegetation restoration can increase soil carbon (C) content in karst regions characterized by highly exposed carbonate rocks; however, it remains unclear whether and how bedrock outcrops contribute to soil C-accumulation after vegetation restoration. We aimed to investigate the magnitude and mechanisms of bedrock outcrops on soil C-accumulation after vegetation restoration. Here, we selected 362 fixed locations to investigate changes in soil organic carbon (SOC) content and density before and after cropland restoration in a karst catchment with varying bedrock exposure ratios and initial soil C pools prior to restoration. Active vegetation restoration (i.e., cropland converted to forage grass, plantation forest, and a combination of grass and forest) and natural regeneration (cropland abandoned) were compared, with croplands maintained with no change as the control. Compared to croplands maintained with no change, SOC density significantly increased in the four vegetation restoration types. The SOC accumulation rate was higher for natural regeneration (39 g C m-2 yr-1) than for the three active restoration strategies (18-27 g C m-2 yr-1). SOC accumulation decreased with a higher initial pool size of soil C but increased with nitrogen accumulation and soil exchangeable calcium (Ca2+) concentration. Higher bedrock outcrops reduced soil volume but increased SOC content through their indirect effects on the initial pool size of soil C, external nitrogen inputs, and soil Ca2+ concentration. This weakly promoted rather than inhibited SOC sequestration. Our findings highlight the effectiveness of various restoration strategies in promoting SOC accumulation in karst areas, as well as the need to take bedrock outcrops and initial soil C pools into consideration when modeling SOC dynamics and maximizing C sinks for vegetation restoration.

Abstract
To improve the thermal, mechanical, and barrier properties of ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH)/aramid pulp (AP), graphene oxide (GO) was used as a compatilizer, enhancer, and barrier to fabricate EVOH-based composites. The results showed that graphene oxide serves as an ideal compatilizer to reinforce the interfacial action between the EVOH matrix and aramid pulp. The EVOH/AP/GO composite presented the best combination of thermal stability, tensile strength, oxygen barrier, and heat deformation temperature by adding only 1 wt% graphene oxide, compared to those of pure EVOH. Moreover, both scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and polarized optical microscopy (POM) photographs demonstrated that the aramid pulp dispersed homogeneously into the EVOH resin with the addition of 1 wt% graphene oxide. Our work provides a novel and facile way for producing a prominent EVOH-based composite, which can be potentially used in packaging fields in the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSSs) is known to be a typical problem for school bullying victims. However, the underlying mechanism between school bullying victimization and PTSSs remains unknown. This study examined the mediating roles of feelings of insecurity and self-disclosure in the relationship between school bullying victimization and PTSSs in adolescents. METHODS Self-report questionnaires were used to assess 5013 adolescents; 443 of them with school bullying experiences were selected to carry out this study. RESULTS The results found that school bullying victimization was directly related to more PTSSs, indirectly associated with more PTSSs through feelings of insecurity, and through the path from feelings of insecurity to self-disclosure. However, school bullying victimization did not exert an indirect effect on PTSSs through one step effect of self-disclosure. CONCLUSIONS These findings indicated that feelings of insecurity and self-disclosure mediated the relationship between school bullying victimization and PTSSs. The psychological service should reduce adolescents' feelings of insecurity and give them more chances to disclose their bullying experiences.

Abstract
Emerging evidence shows that the biomechanical environment is required to support cancer stem cells (CSCs), which play a crucial role in drug resistance. However, how mechanotransduction signals regulate CSCs and its clinical significance has remained unclear. Using clinical-practice ultrasound elastography for patients' lesions and atomic force microscopy for surgical samples, we reveal that increased matrix stiffness is associated with poor responses to neoadjuvant chemotherapy, worse prognosis, and CSC enrichment in patients with breast cancer. Mechanically, TAZ activated by biomechanics enhances CSC properties via phase separation with NANOG. TAZ-NANOG phase separation, which is dependent on acidic residues in the N-terminal activation domain of NANOG, promotes the transcription of SOX2 and OCT4. Therapeutically, targeting NANOG or TAZ reduces CSCs and enhances the chemosensitivity in vivo. Collectively, this study demonstrated that the phase separation of a pluripotency transcription factor links mechanical cues in the niche to the fate of CSCs.

Abstract
Background: Earthquakes can cause negative psychological states in adolescents and their parents, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. Previous cross-sectional studies have shown that adolescents who perceive parental depression after an earthquake are more likely to experience PTSD. However, the mechanism underlying this process remains unclear and previous studies have not examined the association between these factors.Objective: The current study explored the mediating roles of attachment insecurity and coping style in the association between perceived parental depression and PTSD in adolescents after the Jiuzhaigou earthquake.Method: In total, 391 participants completed follow-up questionnaires at 12, 21, and 27 months (T1-T3, respectively) after the Jiuzhaigou earthquake.Results: T1 perceived parental depression was not a direct predictor of T3 PTSD in adolescents. In the full mediation model, T1 perceived parental depression predicted T3 PTSD in adolescents indirectly via T2 attachment insecurities through T2 emotion-focused coping.Conclusion: The findings highlight that attachment insecurity and emotion-focused coping mediated the relationship between perceived parental depression and PTSD in adolescents following an earthquake. To alleviate PTSD in adolescents, efforts should be directed toward reducing perceived parental depressive symptoms and emotion-focused coping, and promoting the formation of secure attachment styles.

Abstract
Identification of the genes and processes mediating genetic association signals for complex diseases represents a major challenge. As many of the genetic signals for type 2 diabetes (T2D) exert their effects through pancreatic islet-cell dysfunction, we performed a genome-wide pooled CRISPR loss-of-function screen in a human pancreatic beta cell line. We assessed the regulation of insulin content as a disease-relevant readout of beta cell function and identified 580 genes influencing this phenotype. Integration with genetic and genomic data provided experimental support for 20 candidate T2D effector transcripts including the autophagy receptor CALCOCO2. Loss of CALCOCO2 was associated with distorted mitochondria, less proinsulin-containing immature granules and accumulation of autophagosomes upon inhibition of late-stage autophagy. Carriers of T2D-associated variants at the CALCOCO2 locus further displayed altered insulin secretion. Our study highlights how cellular screens can augment existing multi-omic efforts to support mechanistic understanding and provide evidence for causal effects at genome-wide association studies loci.

Abstract
Owing to the unique electronic spin properties, nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers hosted in diamond have emerged as a powerful quantum tool for detecting various physical parameters and biological species. In this work, an optical-fiber quantum probe, configured by chemically modifying nanodiamonds on the surface of a cone fiber tip, is developed. Based on the continuous-wave optically detected magnetic resonance method and lock-in amplification technique, it is found that the sensing performance of probes can be engineered by varying the nanodiamond dispersion concentration and modification duration during the chemical modification process. Combined with a pair of magnetic flux concentrators, the magnetic field detection sensitivity has reached 0.57 nT/Hz1/2@1 Hz, a new record among the fiber magnetometers based on nanodiamonds. Taking Gd3+ as the demo, the capability of probes in paramagnetic species detection is also demonstrated experimentally. Our work provides a new approach to develop NV centers as quantum probes featuring high integration, multifunction, high sensitivity, etc.

Abstract
The incidence of cerebrovascular diseases increases significantly with aging. This study aimed to test the hypothesis that aging may influence the protein kinase A (PKA)-dependent vasodilation via RyR/BKCa pathway in the middle cerebral arteries (MCA). Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control (4-6 month-old) and aged (24-month-old) groups. The functions of MCA and ion channel activities in smooth muscle cells were examined using myograph system and patch-clamp. Aging decreased the isoproterenol/forskolin-induced relaxation in the MCA. Large-conductance Ca2+-activated-K+ (BKCa) channel inhibitor, iberiotoxin, significantly attenuated the forskolin-induced vasodilatation and hyperpolarization in the young group, but not in the aged group. The amplitude and frequency of spontaneous transient outward currents (STOCs) were significantly decreased in the aged group. Single channel recording revealed that the mean open time of BKCa channels were decreased, while an increased mean closed time of BKCa channels were found in the aged group. The Ca2+/voltage sensitivity of the channels was decreased accompanied by reduced BKCa α and β1-subunit, the expression of RyR2, PKA-Cα and PKA-Cβ subunits were also declined in the aged group. Aging induced down-regulation of PKA/BKCa pathway in cerebral artery in rats. The results provides new information on further understanding in cerebrovascular diseases resulted from age-related cerebral vascular dysfunction.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is an aggressive and incurable B-cell-derived malignant disease. MCL is treated using general chemotherapy; however, disease progression and relapse are common; thus, the development of novel therapeutic targets for treatment of MCL is urgently required. Serum- and glucocorticoid-inducible kinase 1 (SGK1) is involved in various cellular activities, and its dysregulation contributes to the pathogenesis of multiple types of cancer. However, little is known regarding its functional roles and associated molecular mechanisms in MCL. METHODS SGK1 inhibition mediated by either shRNA or treatment with SGK1 inhibitor (GSK650394) was conducted in MCL cell lines. Western blotting analysis was performed to figure out the expression of related proteins. MCL-cell-derived xenograft models were constructed to evaluate the anti-tumor effects of SGK1 inhibition or/and Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibition in vivo. RESULTS In this study, it was shown that inhibition of SGK1 significantly reduced cell proliferation, invasion and migration, increased apoptosis and blocked cell cycle progression in MCL cells. Furthermore, SGK1 inhibition significantly reduced the activation of ERK, AKT/mTOR, JAK2/STAT3 and the NF-κB signaling pathways. Using MCL-cell-derived xenograft mice models, SGK1 inhibition decreased tumor cell proliferation and tumor growth. Importantly, SGK1 overexpression significantly promoted xenograft tumor growth. Moreover, simultaneous inhibition of SGK1 and Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) resulted in synergistic anti-tumor effects on MCL both in vitro and in vivo. CONCLUSION SGK1 may be a novel candidate therapeutic target and simultaneous inhibition of SGK1 and BTK may be a promising therapeutic strategy for MCL patients. Further pre-clinical and even clinical studies of SGK1 inhibitor or combination with BTK inhibitor are essential.

Abstract
Objective: To trace and characterize the whole genome of SARS-CoV-2 of confirmed cases in the outbreak of COVID-19 on July 31, 2021 in Henan Province. Method: Genome-wide sequencing and comparative analysis were performed on positive nucleic acid samples of SARS-CoV-2 from 167 local cases related to the epidemic on July 31, 2021, to analyze the consistency and evolution of the whole genome sequence of virus. Results: Through high-throughput sequencing, a total of 106 cases of SARS-CoV-2 whole genome sequences were obtained. The results of genome analysis showed that the whole genome sequences of 106 cases belonged to the VOC/Delta variant strain (B.1.617.2 clade), and the whole genome sequences of 106 cases were shared with the genomes of 3 imported cases from Myanmar admitted to a hospital in Zhengzhou. On the basis of 45 nucleotide sites, 1-5 nucleotide variation sites were added, and the genome sequence was highly homologous. Conclusion: Combined with the comprehensive analysis of viral genomics, transmission path simulation experiments and epidemiology, it is determined that the local new epidemic in Henan Province is caused by imported cases in the nosocomial area, and the spillover has caused localized infection in the community. At the same time, it spills over to some provincial cities and results in localized clustered epidemics.

Abstract
Voltage-gated Ca2+ (CaV) channel dysfunction leads to impaired glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in pancreatic β-cells and contributes to the development of type-2 diabetes (T2D). The role of the low-voltage gated T-type CaV channels in β-cells remains obscure. Here we have measured the global expression of T-type CaV3.2 channels in human islets and found that gene expression of CACNA1H, encoding CaV3.2, is negatively correlated with HbA1c in human donors, and positively correlated with islet insulin gene expression as well as secretion capacity in isolated human islets. Silencing or pharmacological blockade of CaV3.2 attenuates glucose-stimulated cytosolic Ca2+ signaling, membrane potential, and insulin release. Moreover, the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) Ca2+ store depletion is also impaired in CaV3.2-silenced β-cells. The linkage between T-type (CaV3.2) and L-type CaV channels is further identified by the finding that the intracellular Ca2+ signaling conducted by CaV3.2 is highly dependent on the activation of L-type CaV channels. In addition, CACNA1H expression is significantly associated with the islet predominant L-type CACNA1C (CaV1.2) and CACNA1D (CaV1.3) genes in human pancreatic islets. In conclusion, our data suggest the essential functions of the T-type CaV3.2 subunit as a mediator of β-cell Ca2+ signaling and membrane potential needed for insulin secretion, and in connection with L-type CaV channels.
