Abstract
Staphylococcus haemolyticus, a key species of the Staphylococcus genus, holds significant importance in healthcare-associated infections, due to its notable resistance to antimicrobials, like methicillin, and proficient biofilms-forming capabilities. This coagulase-negative bacterium poses a substantial challenge in the battle against nosocomial infections. Recent research has shed light on Staph. haemolyticus genomic plasticity, unveiling genetic elements responsible for antibiotic resistance and their widespread dissemination within the genus. This review presents an updated and comprehensive overview of the clinical significance and prevalence of Staph. haemolyticus, underscores its zoonotic potential and relevance in the one health framework, explores crucial virulence factors, and examines genetics features contributing to its success in causing emergent and challenging infections. Additionally, we scrutinize ongoing studies aimed at controlling spread and alternative approaches for combating it.

Abstract
The present study aims to develop and characterize biodegradable packaging films from lemon peel-derived pectin and chitosan incorporated with a bioactive extract from neem leaves. The films (PCNE) contained varying concentrations of neem leaf extract and were comprehensively assessed for their physical, optical, mechanical, and antimicrobial attributes. The thickness, moisture content, water solubility, and water vapor permeability of the biodegradable packaging films increased with the increasing concentration of neem leaf extract. Comparatively, the tensile strength of the films decreased by 42.05 % compared to the control film. The Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) confirmed that the resultant blended pectin-chitosan films showed a uniform structure without cracks. Furthermore, the analysis targeting Staphylococcus aureus and Aspergillus niger indicated that the films had potent antimicrobial activity. Based on these results, the optimum films were selected and subsequently applied on apricot fruits to increase their shelf life at ambient temperature. The findings, after examining factors such as colour, firmness, total soluble solids, shrinkage, weight loss, and appearance, concluded that the apricots coated by PCNE-5 had the most delayed signs of spoilage and increased their shelf life by 50 %. The results showed the potential applicability of lemon peel pectin-chitosan-neem leaf extract blend films in biodegradable food packaging.

Abstract
Neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and Parkinson's disease (PD) are some of the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorders in humans. Even after a variety of advanced therapies, prognosis of all these disorders is not favorable, with survival rates of 14-20 months only. To further improve the prognosis of these disorders, it is imperative to discover new compounds which will target effector proteins involved in these disorders. In this study, we have focused on in silico screening of marine compounds against multiple target proteins involved in AD, GBM, ALS, and PD. Fifty marine-origin compounds were selected from literature, out of which, thirty compounds passed ADMET parameters. Ligand docking was performed after ADMET analysis for AD, GBM, ALS, and PD-associated proteins in which four protein targets Keap1, Ephrin A2, JAK3 Kinase domain, and METTL3-METTL14 N6-methyladenosine methyltransferase (MTA70) were found to be binding strongly with the screened compound Dioxinodehydroeckol (DHE). Molecular dynamics simulations were performed at 100 ns with triplicate runs to validate the docking score and assess the dynamics of DHE interactions with each target protein. The results indicated Dioxinodehydroeckol, a novel marine compound, to be a putative inhibitor among all the screened molecules, which might be effective against multiple target proteins involved in neurological disorders, requiring further in vitro and in vivo validations.

Abstract
Alzheimer's Disease (AD) patients experience diverse symptoms, including memory loss, cognitive impairment, behavioral abnormalities, mood changes, and mental issues. The fundamental objective of this review is to discuss novel therapeutic approaches, with special emphasis on recently approved marketed formulations for the treatment of AD, especially Aducanumab, the first FDA approved moiety that surpasses the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and reduces amyloid plaques in the brain, thereby reducing associated cognitive decline. However, it is still in the phase IV trial and is to be completed by 2030. Other drugs such as lecanemab are also under clinical trial and has recently been approved by the FDA and is also discussed here. In this review, we also focus on active and passive immunotherapy for AD as well as several vaccines, such as amyloid-beta epitope-based vaccines, amyloid-beta DNA vaccines, and stem cell therapy for AD, which are in clinical trials. Furthermore, ongoing pre-clinical trials associated with AD and other novel strategies such as curcumin-loaded nanoparticles, Crispr/ cas9, precision medicine, as well as some emerging therapies like anti-sense therapy are also highlighted. Additionally, we discuss some off-labeled drugs like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), anti-diabetic drugs, and lithium, which can manage symptoms of AD and different non-pharmacological approaches are also covered which can help to manage AD. In summary, we have tried to cover all the therapeutic interventions which are available for the treatment and management of AD under sections approved, clinical phase, pre-clinical phase or futuristic interventions, off-labelled drugs, and non-pharmacological interventions for AD, offering positive findings and well as challenges that remain.

Abstract
A topological insulator has a unique graphene-like Dirac cone conducting surface state, which is excellent for broadband absorption and photodetector applications. Experimental investigations on the Bi2Te3/n-GaN heterojunction exhibited an aberrant photoelectric effect under the influence of unpolarized light. Transport measurements of the Bi2Te3/n-GaN heterojunction revealed a negative photoconductance, with a sudden increase in resistance. This was consistent with the applied range of wavelength and power used for incident light while it was contrary to the usual gap-state transition model, which states that a negative conductance is due to the trapping of charge carriers. The observed aberrant photoelectric effect seen in Bi2Te3/n-GaN heterojunction devices was due to the polycrystalline nature of the Bi2Te3 topological insulator film, where the incident photon-induced bandgap in the Dirac cone surface state resulted in a negative photoelectric effect. This phenomenon opens the possibility for applications in highly sensitive photodetectors and non-volatile memories, along with employing the bandgap-opening concept in retinomorphic devices.

Abstract
Nanocoatings are ultra-thin layers on the nanoscale (<100 nm) that are deposited on the substrate to improve their properties and functionality. These nanocoatings provide significant advantages compared to traditional coating, including stain resistance, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, odor control and delivery of active agents, and liquid repellence properties. In the food industry, nanocoating is widely used in the food packaging sector. In this regard, nanocoating offers antimicrobials and antioxidant properties to active food packaging by incorporating active bioactive compounds into materials used in already existing packaging. The application of nanocoating is applied to these kinds of food packaging with nano coating to improve shelf life, safety, and quality of food packaging. In smart/intelligent packaging, the active packaging coating is promising food packaging, which is designed by releasing preservatives and nanocoating as an antimicrobial, antifungal, antioxidant, barrier coating, and self-cleaning food contact surfaces. In addition, nanocoating can be used for food contact surfaces, kitchen utensils, and food processing equipment to create antimicrobial, antireflective, and dirt-repellent properties. These are critical properties for food processing, especially for meat and dairy processing facilities, which can reduce biofilm formation and prevent cross-contamination. Recently, appreciable growth in the development of the application of nanocoating as edible films for coating food products has emerged to improve food safety issues. In this regard, much scientific research in the area of nanocoating fruits and vegetables, and other food products was performed to address food safety issues. Hence, this promising technology can be a great addition to the agricultural and food industries. Thus, this review addresses the most relevant information about this technology and the applications of nanocoating in the food industry.

Abstract
Abstract Growing human population is a solemn risk to biodiversity at a global level. Massive anthropogenic pressure and invasion in the natural habitats initiated the human-wildlife conflict in rural areas. Present study aimed to assess human-wildlife conflict in Musk Deer National Park (MDNP) from 2013 to 2018. Results revealed an estimated 241784 nomadic and 5589 residential livestock heads grazed in different areas of MDNP during the summer season. A total of 126 heads were depredated by carnivores during the study period. Majority (n=39) of livestock heads were killed in May (n=29). Livestock depredation resulted in economic losses worth 3.115 million PKRs (25744 US$) to the herder community while farmers received 1.629 million PKRs (13466 US$) losses due to crop raiding. Most (64%) of the respondents believed human-wildlife conflict heightened due to scarcity of food or prey in the natural habitats of carnivores. Majority (92%) of the respondents did not like the presence of predators in MDNP. Loss compensation schemes could turn this negative attitude into the positive one and increase tolerance about the presence of carnivores in their vicinity. This study provides an insight into the human-wildlife conflict in MDNP and paves a way for understanding the conflict and conservation of carnivore species in the study area.

Abstract
Protein-based therapeutics have revolutionized the pharmaceutical industry and become vital components in the development of future therapeutics. They offer several advantages over traditional small molecule drugs, including high affinity, potency and specificity, while demonstrating low toxicity and minimal adverse effects. However, the development and manufacturing processes of protein-based therapeutics presents challenges related to protein folding, purification, stability and immunogenicity that should be addressed. These proteins, like other biological molecules, are prone to chemical and physical instabilities. The stability of protein-based drugs throughout the entire manufacturing, storage and delivery process is essential. The occurrence of structural instability resulting from misfolding, unfolding, and modifications, as well as aggregation, poses a significant risk to the efficacy of these drugs, overshadowing their promising attributes. Gaining insight into structural alterations caused by aggregation and their impact on immunogenicity is vital for the advancement and refinement of protein therapeutics. Hence, in this review, we have discussed some features of protein aggregation during production, formulation and storage as well as stabilization strategies in protein engineering and computational methods to prevent aggregation.

Abstract
Cardiac tissue growth and remodelling (G & R) occur in response to the changing physiological demands of the heart after birth. The early shift to pulmonary circulation produces an immediate increase in ventricular workload, causing microstructural and biomechanical changes that serve to maintain overall physiological homoeostasis. Such cardiac G & R continues throughout life. Quantifying the tissue's mechanical and microstructural changes because of G & R is of increasing interest, dovetailing with the emerging fields of personalised and precision solutions. This study aimed to determine equibiaxial, and non-equibiaxial extension, stress-relaxation, and the underlying microstructure of the passive porcine ventricles tissue at four time points spanning from neonatal to adulthood. The three-dimensional microstructure was investigated via two-photon excited fluorescence and second-harmonic generation microscopy on optically cleared tissues, describing the 3D orientation, rotation and dispersion of the cardiomyocytes and collagen fibrils. The results revealed that during biomechanical testing, myocardial ventricular tissue possessed non-linear, anisotropic, and viscoelastic behaviour. An increase in stiffness and viscoelasticity was noted for the left and right ventricular free walls from neonatal to adulthood. Microstructural analyses revealed concomitant increases in cardiomyocyte rotation and dispersion. This study provides baseline data, describing the biomechanical and microstructural changes in the left and right ventricular myocardial tissue during G & R, which should prove valuable to researchers in developing age-specific, constitutive models for more accurate computational simulations. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: There is a dearth of experimental data describing the growth and remodelling of left and right ventricular tissue. The published literature is fragmented, with data reported via different experimental techniques using tissues harvested from a variety of animals, with different gender and ages. This prevents developing a continuum of data spanning birth to death, so limiting the potential that can be leveraged to aid computational modelling and simulations. In this study, equibiaxial, non-equibiaxial, and stress-relaxation data are presented, describing directional-dependent material responses. The biomechanical data is consolidated with equivalent microstructural data, an important element for the development of future material models. Combined, these data describe microstructural and biomechanical changes in the ventricles, spanning G &R from neonatal to adulthood.

Abstract
Access to clean water is the mandatory requirement for every living being to sustain life. So, membrane-based integrated approach of adsorption and separation technology has recently been preferred by scientists over other conventional techniques, for wastewater treatment. Current research focused on the synthesis of novel imidazolium (A1) based IL, which was further functionalized with hydroxyapatite (HAp; extracted from Labeo rohita scales), to create possible solutions towards environmental remediation. Cellulose acetate (CA) was used for the fabrication of three different ionic liquid membranes. All the synthesized products were characterized by FTIR, XRD and TGA. Two dyes of different nature, i.e., congo red (anionic) and crystal violet (cationic) were selected because of their highly toxic and carcinogenic effects, for batch adsorption experiments. Antibacterial activity of the synthesized membranes was also evaluated against S. aureus. Results of the study revealed that CA-HA1 1:2 acted as the best adsorbent towards the removal of crystal violet, exhibiting removal efficiency of 98% with the contact time of 24 h while in case of congo red adsorption, CA-HA1 (1:2) proved as prime adsorbent with the removal efficiency of 96% for the same preceding contact time. Considering the antibacterial character of the synthesized membranes, CA-A1 (1:1) emerged as very efficient antibacterial agent with the inhibition zone of 50 mm after 48 h. The overall behavior of monolayer and multilayer adsorption was witnessed for both dyes while kinetic studies favored the pseudo-second order reaction for all adsorbents.

Abstract
Sorcin (Sri), a member of penta EF-hand protein family plays a diverse role in maintaining calcium homeostasis, cell cycle and vesicular trafficking. Sri is highly conserved amongst mammals and consists of N-terminal glycine rich domain and C-terminal calcium binding domain that mediates its dimerization and interacts with different compounds. In the present study, with the help of combination of computational and molecular biology techniques, we have identified a novel isoform (Sri-N) in mouse which differs only in the C-terminal domain with that of Sri reported earlier. The novel isoform contains a new last exon that is different from the one present in the reported transcript (Sri). The presence of the novel isoform was further validated in different tissues by RT-PCR and DNA sequencing. The transcript was conceptually translated and subjected to in-silico analysis using different bioinformatics tools. The novel transcript variant encodes for a longer protein isoform without any change in the sub-cellular localization as predicted by PSORT-II online tool. Molecular modelling was performed to compare the structural changes in Sri-N and Sri isoforms. The structural characterization of the novel isoform using MD simulation depicted its overall stability under the physiological conditions. The molecular docking of proteins with various chemotherapeutic drugs revealed that their binding affinity is more for Sri-N as compared to that for the previously reported transcript Sri.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Cell phones are carried by 79% of people between 18 and 44 years of age for nearly the entire day. Smartphone users spend an average of three hours/per day on their devices, whereas heavy smartphone users spend 8-10 hours/per day on their devices. Text neck is a dangerous disorder that can accelerate the degeneration of the spine. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of neck stabilization training vs. Contrology or Pilates training in individuals with Text Neck Syndrome. PATIENTS AND METHODS Participants (n=75) with a history of recurrent neck pain in the previous four months, having moderate pain (at least 4/10 on the numeric pain rating scale, NPRS), and constantly using mobile phones (>4 hours/day) were randomly allocated to one of three groups: a control group (neck isometric training) and two intervention groups (neck stabilization training and Contrology). They were assessed for craniovertebral angle (CVA), NPRS, and neck disability index (NDI) at baseline and at 4 weeks post-intervention. RESULTS There was a significant difference in the CVA, NPRS, and NDI among individuals with Text Neck Syndrome following intervention as compared to the control. Both the neck stabilization and Contrology training increased CVA and reduced neck pain and neck disability in individuals with Text Neck Syndrome. The two intervention groups showed similar effects in all the clinical outcome measures, suggesting almost equivalent effectiveness in the individuals with Text Neck Syndrome. CONCLUSIONS Neck stabilization seems to work better than Contrology training when it comes to increasing the craniovertebral angle, reducing pain intensity, and making it easier for individuals with Text Neck Syndrome to move their necks.

Abstract
Objective This study aims to find the most promising Ganoderma lucidium targeting LRRK2 involved in PD. Methods First ADMET analysis was performed for five compounds followed by molecular docking of each compound. Then, we perform molecular dynamics simulation of all five compounds and finally MMGBSA of all five compounds. Results Based on molecular dynamics and MMGBSA result we reach the conclusion that Ganoderic Acid A (GAA) is the most promising compound targeting LRRK2. Therefore, GAA needs further validation through in vitro and in vivo studies. Conclusion Ganoderma lucidum exhibits cytotoxic, hepatoprotective, antioxidative, anticancer, and antinociceptive activities. This study predicted that Ganoderma lucidum could even be used to treat neurological disorders like PD. This study suggest that the best-identified molecule against LRRK2 is GAA and it needs rigorous in vitro and in vivo validations.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To provide insights into the nature, risk factors, impact and existing measures for reporting and preventing violence in the healthcare system. The under-reporting of violence against healthcare workers (HCWs) globally highlights the need for increased public awareness and education. METHODS The Violence Study of Healthcare Workers and Systems study used a survey questionnaire created using Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) forms and distributed from 6 June to 9 August 2022. Logistic regression analysis evaluated violence predictors, including gender, age, years of experience, institution type, respondent profession and night shift frequency. A χ2 test was performed to determine the association between gender and different violence forms. RESULTS A total of 5405 responses from 79 countries were analysed. India, the USA and Venezuela were the top three contributors. Female respondents comprised 53%. The majority (45%) fell within the 26-35 age group. Medical students (21%), consultants (20%), residents/fellows (15%) and nurses (10%) constituted highest responders. Nearly 55% HCWs reported firsthand violence experience, and 16% reported violence against their colleagues. Perpetrators were identified as patients or family members in over 50% of cases, while supervisor-incited violence accounted for 16%. Around 80% stated that violence incidence either remained constant or increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among HCWs who experienced violence, 55% felt less motivated or more dissatisfied with their jobs afterward, and 25% expressed willingness to quit. Univariate analysis revealed that HCWs aged 26-65 years, nurses, physicians, ancillary staff, those working in public settings, with >1 year of experience, and frequent night shift workers were at significantly higher risk of experiencing violence. These results remained significant in multivariate analysis, except for the 55-65 age group, which lost statistical significance. CONCLUSION This global cross-sectional study highlights that a majority of HCWs have experienced violence, and the incidence either increased or remained the same during the COVID-19 pandemic. This has resulted in decreased job satisfaction.

Abstract
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that causes difficulty while socializing and communicating and the performance of stereotyped behavior. ASD is thought to have a variety of causes when accompanied by genetic disorders and environmental variables together, resulting in abnormalities in the brain. A steep rise in ASD has been seen regardless of the numerous behavioral and pharmaceutical therapeutic techniques. Therefore, using complementary and alternative therapies to treat autism could be very significant. Thus, this review is completely focused on non-pharmacological therapeutic interventions which include different diets, supplements, antioxidants, hormones, vitamins and minerals to manage ASD. Additionally, we also focus on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies, herbal remedies, camel milk and cannabiodiol. Additionally, we concentrate on how palatable phytonutrients provide a fresh glimmer of hope in this situation. Moreover, in addition to phytochemicals/nutraceuticals, it also focuses on various microbiomes, i.e., gut, oral, and vaginal. Therefore, the current comprehensive review opens a new avenue for managing autistic patients through non-pharmacological intervention.

Abstract
In Pakistan, hemorrhagic diseases, including dengue and Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), are common. Therefore, an accurate diagnosis is challenging in the early stages of sickness owing to geographic overlap and early clinical similarities between the two disorders. A 35-year-old man who had previously experienced hematemesis and high-grade fever presented to our hospital. Despite receiving supportive care for a preliminary diagnosis of dengue hemorrhagic fever, the patient's condition worsened. The results of the dengue IgM antibody test were negative. On the fourth day of admission, a qualitative polymerase chain reaction test for CCHF virus RNA was performed, and the result returned positive. All medical personnel and attendants who had contact with the patient had to receive ribavirin prophylaxis, which required significant investment in resources. Because CCHF can have long-term financial and health repercussions for contacts, including healthcare personnel in developing nations, it is essential to identify and treat it as soon as possible. It is necessary to keep track of dengue and CCHF cases more closely to develop predictors of disease diagnosis that are reasonably trustworthy, affordable, and quick. These predictors can aid in directing future choices regarding the care of similar situations. Ultimately, such an approach might result in improved cost control in environments with limited resources. Consideration should also be given to patients who receive ribavirin prophylaxis.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is considered to be the most typical form of dementia that provokes irreversible cognitive impairment. Along with cognitive impairment, circadian rhythm dysfunction is a fundamental factor in aggravating AD. A link among circadian rhythms, sleep, and AD has been well-documented. The etiopathogenesis of circadian system disruptions and AD serves some general characteristics that also open up the possibility of viewing them as a mutually reliant path. In this review, we have focused on different factors that are related to circadian rhythm dysfunction. The various pathogenic factors, such as amyloid-beta, neurofibrillary tangles, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and circadian rhythm dysfunction may all contribute to AD. In this review, we also tried to focus on melatonin which is produced from the pineal gland and can be used to treat circadian dysfunction in AD. Aside from amyloid beta, tau pathology may have a notable influence on sleep. Conclusively, the center of this review is primarily based on the principal mechanistic complexities associated with circadian rhythm disruption, sleep deprivation, and AD, and it also emphasizes the potential therapeutic strategies to treat and prevent the progression of AD.

Abstract
Major depressive disorder (MDD) and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are the most common causes of emotional distress that impair an individual's quality of life. MDD is a chronic mental illness that affects 300 million people across the world. Clinical manifestations of MDD include fatigue, loss of interest in routine tasks, psychomotor agitation, impaired ability to focus, suicidal ideation, hypersomnolence, altered psychosocial functioning, and appetite loss. Individuals with depression also demonstrate a reduced behavioral response while experiencing pleasure, a symptom known as anhedonia. Like MDD, PTSD is a prevalent and debilitating psychiatric disorder resulting from a traumatic incident such as sexual assault, war, severe accident, or natural disaster. Symptoms such as recalling event phases, hypervigilance, irritability, and anhedonia are common in PTSD. Both MDD and PTSD pose enormous socioeconomic burdens across the globe. The search for effective treatment with minimal side effects is still ongoing. Ketamine is known for its anesthetic and analgesic properties. Psychedelic and psychotropic effects of ketamine have been found on the nervous system, which highlights its toxicity. In this article, the effectiveness of ketamine as a potential therapeutic for PTSD and MDD along with its mechanisms of action, clinical trials, and possible side effects have been discussed.

Abstract
Despite the emergence of novel targeted treatments for atopic dermatitis (AD), there is a lack of guidelines on standardizing analysis of clinical trial data. To define and estimate meaningful treatment comparisons, several factors, including intercurrent events, must be taken into account. Intercurrent events are defined as events occurring after treatment initiation that affect either the interpretation or existence of the measurements associated with clinical questions of interest. Due to the relapsing, unpredictable nature of AD, intercurrent events frequently occur in AD trials, such as use of rescue therapy for intense itch and sleep deprivation. Despite the impact of intercurrent events in AD, they are often handled in an inconsistent manner across trials, which limits results interpretation. The estimand framework is increasingly used to estimate treatment effects while accounting for intercurrent events. This review explores how guidance from the International Council for Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use (ICH) on the use of estimands can be applied to support AD clinical trial design and analysis. We propose that estimands are used in AD trials and defined early during trial design. The use of estimands can provide clinicians with interventional trial results that are more reflective of clinical practice, help facilitate comparisons across clinical trials, and are more informative to enable improved treatment selection for patients.

Abstract
Crowded and confined macromolecular milieus surround proteins, and both are stabilizing if the nature of the interaction between crowder and proteins are considered hard-core repulsive interactions. However, non-specific chemical interactions between a protein and its surroundings also play a significant role and the sum effect of both hard-core repulsion and soft interaction balances the overall effect of crowding/confinement. Previous studies showing the effect of polyethylene glycol (PEG) on protein and nucleic acid may be interpreted as either primarily excluded volume effect or, in some cases, chemical effect by changing solvent properties. In case of destabilizing interactions, charge-charge and hydrophobic contact have to gain more attention. For instance, in vitro and in vivo studies using protein as crowding agent revealed the destabilization of proteins induced by charge-charge interactions. To investigate the effect of PEG 10 kDa on holo α-lactalbumin (holo α-LA), structure and thermal stability of the protein were measured at different pH values using several techniques. Structural characterization by Trp-fluorescence, near-UV CD and far-UV measurements at different pH values clearly shows perturbation of tertiary and secondary structure of holo α-LA by PEG 10 kDa. Furthermore, the dynamic light scattering measurement shows that the protein is homogeneous under all experimental conditions. Analysis of the heat-induced denaturation profile in the presence of the crowder shows destabilization of the protein in terms of Tm (midpoint of denaturation) and ΔGD0 (Gibbs free energy change at 25 °C). To evaluate the interaction of PEG 10 kDa with holo α-LA and stability of PEG-α-LA complex, docking and molecular dynamic simulation were carried out for 100 ns.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.

Abstract
Purple sweet potato is commonly cooked by boiling, steaming, baking and microwaving.
However, information on the effects of cooking methods on the physicochemical
properties, antioxidants properties and sensory acceptability is limited. In this study, the
effect of cooking methods (boiling, steaming, baking and microwaving) on the
physicochemical properties, antioxidant properties and sensory acceptability of purple
sweet potato were investigated. The results showed that the boiled sample was the softest
(hardness of 933.39 g) and also had the highest total colour difference (18.56), while the
steamed sample was the most adhesive (-92.35 g.s) and least cohesive (0.41). An
increased moisture content caused a decrease in other proximate compositions in the
samples. The baked sample had the highest antioxidant properties, with 232.20 mg
GAE/100 g of total phenolic content, 2.05 mg cyaniding-3-glucoside/L of total
anthocyanins, 61.95% of DPPH and 79.20% of ABTS radical-scavenging activity. The
steamed sample was rated most acceptable by the panellists.

Abstract
Additive manufacturing (AM) highlights developing complex and efficient parts for various uses. Fused deposition modelling (FDM) is the most frequent fabrication procedure used to make polymer products. Although it is widely used, due to its low characteristics, such as weak mechanical properties and poor surface, the types of polymer material that may be produced are limited, affecting the structural applications of FDM. Therefore, the FDM process utilises the polymer composition to produce a better physical product. The review's objective is to systematically document all critical information on FDMed-polymer composite processing, specifically for part fabrication. The review covers the published works on the FDMed-polymer composite from 2011 to 2021 based on our systematic literature review of more than 150 high-impact related research articles. The base and filler material used, and the process parameters including layer height, nozzle temperature, bed temperature, and screw type are also discussed in this review. FDM is utilised in various biomedical, automotive, and other manufacturing industries. This study is expected to be one of the essential pit-stops for future related works in the FDMed-polymeric composite study.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The ensuing ischemia due to the disruption of blood supply to the brain is one of the most common causes of stroke. Evidence suggests a clear association of the ischemic injury with vascular dementia and Alzheimer's disease (AD). In response to the brain ischemia, a cascade reaction starts leading to neuronal damage due to oxidative stress and other inflammatory mediators. A pilot study was done, which showed that following stroke, monomeric-C-reactive protein (mCRP) is expressed in large quantities around the infarcted zone and this CRP is able to induce neurodegeneration and inflammation potentially perpetuating dementia. MATERIALS AND METHODS We examined both patient brain samples and excised mouse brain tissue, previously injected with 1.75 mg/mL mCRP into the CA1 area of the hippocampus through the stereotactic surgical procedures and followed them over a period of over 6 months. The distribution of mCRP was examined through immunohistochemistry (mouse anti-human mCRP-specific antibodies 8C10). RESULTS We observed a novel finding: those micro vessels close to the injection location were strongly stained with mCRP only in the mice that had been injected with mCRP, indicating that this small blood vessel can spread it throughout the brain. CONCLUSIONS mCRP found in the brain after a hemorrhagic stroke promotes damage over a large area via the induction of inflammation and degeneration of perivascular compartments.

Abstract
Angiogenin (ANG) protein plays a crucial role in angiogenesis, neovascularization, and cancer metastasis in NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) via non-coding tiRNA. It protects the cell under ER (endoplasmic reticulum) stress-induced apoptosis through the translational reprogramming process. Although B82 (Curcumin derivatives) induces ER stress-induced apoptosis, its mechanism of action was not studied. Therefore, it was hypothesized that the ribonucleolytic activity of ANG may be regulated by B82, resulting in modulated ER stress signaling for apoptosis. Hence, we designed and proposed a synthesis scheme for RNA-based anti-angiogenic derivatives of 2-deoxyuridine nucleoside forming peptide bond with amino acids like serine (Ser-3) and para-hydroxy-phenyl glycine (Normtyr-1) and compared B82 with them to know the binding affinity with ANG, anti-angiogenic potential, and its probable mechanism of anti-RNase activity through MD simulation study. Therefore, using Gromos96 43a1 and 43a2 force fields, MD simulation was performed to investigate binding affinity, ligand-induced molecular surface area change, conformational change, and dynamics of catalytic site residues to predict ligand binding to ANG in this study. The obtained binding free energy (∆Gbind ) result showed the total average ∆Gbind as -113.480 ± 1.682 (Normtyr-1) > -53.038 ± 33.069 (B82) > -27.909 ± 16.438 (Ser-3) kJ/mole specify role of B82 in regulating ER stress signaling induced apoptosis through ANG ribonucleolytic activity inhibition, suitability of 43a2 force fields and methodology in ligand screening. It shows the crucial role of Leu115 and His13 residue involvement in total ∆Gbind contribution. Hence, based on the MD result, novel conformation of catalytic residues, and ∆Gbind , a promising combination candidate could be proposed for metastatic NSCLC therapy.

Abstract
PURPOSE Cardiac ventricle segmentation from cine magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) is a recognized modality for the noninvasive assessment of cardiovascular pathologies. Deep learning based algorithms achieved state-of-the-art result performance from CMRI cardiac ventricle segmentation. However, most approaches received less attention at the bottom layer of UNet, where main features are lost due to pixel degradation. To increase performance, it is important to handle the bottleneck layer of UNet properly. Considering this problem, we enhanced the performance of main features at the bottom layer of network. METHOD We developed a fully automatic pipeline for segmenting the right ventricle (RV), myocardium (MYO), and left ventricle (LV) by incorporating short-axis CMRI sequence images. We propose a dilated residual network (DRN) to capture the features at full resolution in the bottleneck of UNet. Thus, it significantly increases spatial and temporal information and maintains the localization accuracy. A data-augmentation technique is employed to avoid overfitting and class imbalance problems. Finally, output from each expanding path is added pixel-wise to improve the training response. RESULTS We used and evaluated our proposed method on automatic cardiac diagnosis challenge (ACDC). The test set consists of 50 patient records. The overall dice similarity coefficient (DSC) we achieved for our model is 0.924 ± 0.03, 0.907 ± 0.01, and 0.949 ± 0.05 for RV, MYO, and LV, respectively. Similarly, we obtained hausdorff distance (HD) scores of 10.09 ± 0.01, 7.25 ± 0.05, and 6.86 ± 0.02 mm for RV, MYO, and LV, respectively. The results show superior performance and outperformed state-of-the-art methods in terms of accuracy and reached expert-level segmentation. Consequently, the overall DSC and HD result improved by 1.0% and 1.5%, respectively. CONCLUSION We designed a dilated residual UNet (DRN) for cardiac ventricle segmentation using short-axis CMRI. Our method has the advantage of restoring and capturing spatial and temporal information by expanding the receptive field without degrading the image main features in the bottleneck of UNet. Our method is highly accurate and quick, taking 0.28 s on average to process 2D MR images. Also, the network was designed to work on predictions of individual MR images to segment the ventricular region, for which our model outperforms many state-of-the-art methods.

Abstract
It is known from in vitro studies that macromolecular crowding in the cell effects protein structure, stability and function; but predictive studies are relatively unexplored. There are few reports where the effect of various crowder mixtures has been exploited to discern their combined effect on the structural stability of proteins. These studies are more significant because their effect can mimicked with in vivo conditions, where the environment is heterogeneous. Effects of two crowders, polyethylene glycol (PEG 400 Da), and its monomer ethylene glycol (EG) alone and in mixture on the structural stability of cytochrome c (cyt c) were determined using various spectroscopic and bioinformatics tools. The main conclusions of our study are (i) the monomer EG has a kosmotropic effect on the protein (stabilizes the protein), and has no significant effect on the tertiary structure; (ii) PEG 400 destabilizes the structure as well as the stability of the protein; and (iii) EG counteracts the destabilizing effect of PEG 400. From this investigation, it seems evident that proteins may fold or unfold in the crowded environment of the cell where various interactions assist them to maintain their structure for their functions. Bioinformatics approaches were also used to support all of the in vitro observations. Cyt c is functional protein; if the structure of the protein is modulated due to change in the environment its nature of function will also change. Our research addresses the question by modulating the environment around the protein, and the macromolecule (protein) conformation dynamics and interaction study via in vitro and in silico approaches which indirectly compares with that of the environment in-cellular milieu, which is highly crowded.

Abstract
Growth assessment is an essential component of child health surveillance. The most influential tool in the growth assessment is the growth chart. Growth parameters of children are usually interpreted in relation to international standards like the NCHS/1977, CDC/2000 and WHO/2007 growth charts. This comparative study was carried out in the Department of Paediatrics, Mymensingh Medical College, Mymensingh, Bangladesh from November 2014 to October 2015 to compare the growth parameters of children using 2000 CDC standards and 2007 WHO standards. A total of five hundred healthy school children, aged 6 to 10 years were randomly selected proportionately from each class of five government primary schools from Mymensingh city area. Children with physical deformities and acutely ill and those with chronic debilitating diseases were excluded from the study. The mean and median weight, height and BMI were calculated for each age and sex. The median weight, height and BMI were then standardized by converting them to Z-scores (SD) for comparing against known reference values of 2000 CDC and 2007 WHO charts. Among 500 children, 252(50.4%) were boys and 248(49.6%) were girls. The mean age was found 8.0±1.42 years in boys and 8.04±1.42 years in girls. The mean weight was found 24.4±6.36kg in boys and 24.08±6.35kg in girls. The mean height was 125.90±10.16cm in boys and 125.38±10.74cm in girls. The mean weight, height and BMI of boys and girls were found to be lower in all age groups with compared to 2000 CDC standard and 2007 WHO standard but were closer to the WHO standards compared to the CDC standards. According to CDC and WHO in the study it was observed that underweight was found 16.3% and 14.7%, stunting 7.1% and 6.7%, overweight 6.7% and 8.7%, and obese 2.8% and 4.0% respectively in male subjects. On the other hand, in female subjects it was observed that according to CDC chart and WHO chart underweight was found 19.4% and 13.3%, stunting 6.0% and 4.8%, overweight 7.3% and 8.1% and obese 2.0% and 2.0% respectively. The findings in this study imply that growth pattern of Bangladeshi school children is closer with WHO standards and wider from CDC standards.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients with prurigo nodularis (PN) have multiple itchy nodules, impaired quality of life and sleep deprivation. Prurigo nodularis patients have a high burden of disease, primarily due to the intensity of the itch. It is reasonable to expect that rapid relief of itch - and associated improvement of sleep - are highly valued clinical outcomes for patients. Nemolizumab is an IL-31A-receptor inhibitor that modulates the neuroimmune response with reported positive efficacy and safety data in a phase 2 study of PN. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the onset of action of nemolizumab on itch and sleep disturbances. METHODS Post hoc analysis of a phase 2 trial of nemolizumab 0.5 mg/kg SC vs. placebo in patients (n = 70) with moderate-to-severe PN (≥20 nodules) and severe pruritus (NRS ≥ 7). Time to significant reduction was assessed for peak pruritus (PP) and sleep disturbance (SD) using numerical rating scales (NRS), also assessed was scratching time during sleep. RESULTS Nemolizumab significantly reduced itch vs. placebo within 48 h (PP NRS -19.5% vs. -5.8%, respectively, P = 0.014). Significant difference between nemolizumab and placebo in reducing itch by ≥4 on PP NRS was achieved at Day 3 (23.5% vs. 0%, P < 0.001). A significant difference in SD NRS was reported by Day 4 (-24.0% vs. -4.3% placebo, P = 0.012). In addition, there was a separation between groups in SD responders (decrease of ≥4 points) in favour of nemolizumab by Day 2 (8.8% vs. 0%, P = 0.037). Sleep continued improving through Week 4, when there was a -56.0% reduction in SD NRS vs. -22.9% placebo (P < 0.001). Actigraphy data showed improvement in scratch/sleep duration for nemolizumab vs. placebo, respectively, by Week 1 (-32.15 vs. +28.15 min/h, P = 0.001). CONCLUSION Nemolizumab has a rapid and robust onset of action in PN with itch reduction and improvement of sleep within 48 h.

Abstract
5q- Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a progressive inherited disorder of the motor neurons due to bi allelic mutations in SMN1 gene responsible for a high mortality in infancy, and significant morbidity in childhood, adolescence and into adult life. Advent of SMN1 gene splice modifiers have revolutionised the therapeutic landscape in SMA. Nusinersen is the first such treatment in SMA and is delivered intrathecally via lumbar puncture (LP). Nusinersen is currently accessible to the UK SMA patients via a managed access agreement.LPs are difficult in some patients due to previous spinal fusion surgery (especially in Type 2 SMA), obesity, and other anatomical challenges. Some patients and families find repeat LPs intolerable. A proportion of SMA patients therefore have not been able to access nusinersen for the above reasons, although they would otherwise choose nusinersen as the treatment of first-choice. Nusinersen delivery via a lumbar port and catheter system is not licensed. However it has been successfully attempted in other European and US centres before.Here we report the details and protocols of the first UK adult and paediatric SMA patients who underwent lumbar port and catheter insertion to successfully deliver nusinersen treatment, thereby maintaining the choice of a therapeutic option for a proportion of SMA patients.

Abstract
Fish sauce is a well-known condiment for its delicious flavour developed through a
fermentation process. It is generally used as an additive for flavour enhancement in
cooking. The fish sauce comes in several appearances, ranging from a clear liquid with
light colour and texture to a dark and cloudy liquid. This product is produced by a longduration of fermentation process by the combination of fish and salt. This high salt
fermentation began with the action of enzymes from fish muscle and its digestive tracts,
then continued with halophilic bacteria activity to further break down fish proteins in
producing a liquid product with a mixture of soluble proteins, peptides and amino acids.
This review is comprised of two sections, the first section covers various processing
methods of fish sauces, mainly in the Asia region, namely Nam-pla, Nuoc-mam, Yu-lu,
Ishiru, Shottsuru, Bakasang and Budu. These fish sauces roughly involve applying salt for
fermentation, with different fish species, salt concentration, fermentation duration and
processing techniques. The later section covers taste-contributing components of fish
sauces in the scope of amino acids and peptides. Five of the major amino acids found to
taste in the fish sauce, glutamic acid, threonine, alanine, methionine and histidine, are also
reviewed in this paper. Sensory peptides in fish sauces shown in this paper are peptides
with salt taste enhancement properties and peptides exhibiting sweet, sour, bitter, umami
and kokumi tastes.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The implementation of smokeless tobacco control policies lags behind those for smoking. This scoping review summarizes the studies that evaluated public policies on smokeless tobacco regulation (SLT) and provides an overview of the jurisdictional level, target groups, and policy instruments. METHODS Seven databases were systematically searched for studies reporting on public policies regulating SLT. Two reviewers independently screened all studies. Data extraction was performed using a predefined extraction form. Extraction was replicated for 10% of the identified studies for quality assurance. A narrative synthesis of the included studies was used to analyze and interpret the data. The protocol was published beforehand with the Open Science Foundation (OSF). RESULTS Fourty articles comprising 41 studies were included. Most of the studies reported in the articles were conducted in the United States (n = 17) or India (n = 14). Most studies reported outcomes for students (n = 8), retailers/sellers (n = 8), and users/former users (n = 5). The impact of public policies on smokeless tobacco use, in general, was most frequently assessed (n = 9), followed by the impact of taxes (n = 7), product bans (n = 6), sales/advertising bans near educational institutions (n = 4), and health warnings (n = 3) on consumer behavior. CONCLUSIONS There are significant gaps in the evaluation of smokeless tobacco regulation studies that need to be filled by further research to understand the observed outcomes. WHO reporting on Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) implementation should be linked to studies evaluating smokeless tobacco control measures at all levels of jurisdictions and in countries not members of the WHO FCTC or do not provide data. IMPLICATION Large gaps in the evaluation of SLT control policies exist. For some countries, WHO FCTC evaluations are available for different levels of jurisdictions. In countries with a strong federal structure, there is a lack of data beyond the national level to provide a more detailed look at compliance, indirect effects, or implementation gaps. More research is needed at all levels of jurisdictions, which add to the work of the WHO to understand what works for which target group, how the different levels of jurisdiction interact, how the real-world context can be incorporated, and what indirect effects may occur.

Abstract
Human health depends on the correct folding of proteins, for misfolding and aggregation lead to diseases. An unfolded (denatured) protein can refold to its original folded state. How does this occur is known as the protein folding problem. One of several related questions to this problem is that how much more stable is the folded state than the unfolded state. There are several measures of protein stability. In this article, protein stability is given a thermodynamic definition and is measured by Gibbs free energy change (ΔGD0) associated with the equilibrium, native (N) conformation ↔ denatured (D) conformation under the physiological condition usually taken as dilute buffer (or water) at 25 °C. We show that this thermodynamic quantity (ΔGD0), where subscript D represents transition between N and D states, and superscript 0 (zero) represents the fact that the transition occurs in the absence of denaturant, can be neither measured nor predicted under physiological conditions. However, ΔGD can be measured in the presence of strong chemical denaturants such as guanidinium chloride and urea which are shown to destroy all noncovalent interactions responsible for maintaining the folded structure. A problem with this measurement is that the estimate of ΔGD0 comes from the analysis of the plot of ΔGDversus denaturant concentration, which requires a long extrapolation of values of ΔGD, and all the three methods of extrapolation give three different values of ΔGD0 for a protein. Thus, our confidence in the authentic value of ΔGD0 is eroded. Another problem with this in vitro measurement of ΔGD0 is that it is done on the pure protein sample in dilute buffer which is a very large extrapolation of the in vivo conditions, for the crowding effect on protein stability is ignored.

Abstract
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common forms of dementia and affects around 50 million people around the globe. AD is diagnosed mainly through imaging techniques and to date only five drugs are approved for management of AD but no promising treatment is available for AD. So in this review, we are focusing on stem cell therapy for AD. This review will cover all stem cells like mesenchymal stem cells, embryonic stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, and neural stem cells. Clinical trials of AD have also been discussed. Finally, limitations of stem cells are discussed with ongoing clinical trials, and in the future stem cell therapy can be used for treatment of AD.

Abstract
It is widely recognized that Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common type of progressive neurodegenerative disorder that results in cognitive impairment over time. Approximately 152 million cases of AD are predicted to be reported by 2050. Amyloid plaques and tau proteins are two major hallmarks of AD which can be seen under electron microscope. Mitochondria plays a vital role in the pathogenesis of AD and mitochondria disruption leads to mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) dysfunction, alteration of mitochondria dependent Ca2+ homeostasis, copper dysfunction, immune cell dysfunction, etc. In this review, we try to cover all the mechanisms related with mitochondrial dysfunction and mitochondrial pathogenesis that may help us to better understand AD as well as open a new era for therapeutic target of AD and treat this progressive disease.

Abstract
Serine acetyl transferase (SAT) is one of the crucial enzymes in the cysteine biosynthetic pathway and an essential enzyme for the survival of Entamoeba histolytica, the causative agent of amoebiasis. E. histolytica expresses three isoforms of SAT, where SAT1 and SAT2 are inhibited by the final product cysteine, while SAT3 is not inhibited. SAT3 has a slightly elongated C-terminus compared to SAT1. To understand the stability and conformational transition between two secondary structures of proteins, we measured the effect of urea, a chemical denaturant, on two isoforms of SAT (SAT1 and SAT3) of E. histolytica. The effect of urea on the structure and stability of SAT1 and SAT3 was determined by measuring changes in their far-UV circular dichroism (CD), Trp fluorescence, and near-UV absorption spectra. The urea-induced normal transition curves suggested that the structural transition is reversible and follows a two-state process. Analysis of the urea-induced transition of all optical properties for the stability parameters ΔG D° (Gibbs free energy change (ΔG D) in the absence of urea), m (dependence of ΔG D on urea concentration), and C m (midpoint of urea transition) suggested that SAT1 is more stable than SAT3. Characterization of the end product of the urea-induced transition of both proteins by the far-UV CD and Trp-fluorescence and near-UV absorbance suggested that urea causes α-helix to β-sheet transition and burial of Trp residues, respectively. To support the in vitro findings, 100 ns molecular dynamics simulations (in silico study) were performed. Both the spectroscopic and molecular dynamics approaches clearly indicated that SAT1 is more stable than SAT3. SAT3 has evolved to escape the feedback inhibition to keep producing cysteine, but in the process, it compromises its structural stability relative to SAT1.

Abstract
Anchovies are the small pelagic fish that belongs to the family of Engraulidae dominant
all over the Indo-Pacific region, which account for human consumption and as feed for
other larger fish. Anchovies are rich in macronutrients and micronutrients such as protein,
carbohydrate, fat and amino acids. In addition, anchovy is composed of well-balanced
amino acid compositions containing eight essential amino acids and eight non-essential
amino acids. The nutritive value of anchovies has become the reason for numerous food
applications. Proximate analysis is vital in the food industry for the development and
quality controls of food products. Knowledge and information regarding the proximate
composition of fish are essential in the food processing technology of fish products at
commercial and industrial scales. Additionally, this review highlights both conventional
and innovative anchovy-based food items. The review demonstrated that anchovies have
several possible breakthroughs in the food industry, as shown by their proximate
composition and the amino acid profiles used in various food items.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Many faults occur in the modular multi-level converters (MMCs), including unbalancing capacitor voltage, lower and upper arm unbalancing, the line to line voltage unbalancing, sensors and actuators fault, system fault, and sub-modules fault in high as well as medium voltage applications. INTRODUCTION Several fault-tolerant approaches are presented to overcome these problems, such as active fault-tolerant control system (AFTCS), passive fault-tolerant control system (PFTCS), hybrid fault-tolerant control system (HFTCS), redundant system technique, special power circuit with the controller, and zero sequence voltage methods, which we will explain extensively in this article. METHODOLOGY This review emphasizes the types of faults in the MMCs and discusses the protection methods under failure conditions. The MMC is more popular in high voltage applications because it not only improves the quality of the grid but also has good harmonic performance in high power transmission. There is no need for any isolated dc sources to operate it. When faults are removed, the efficiency and reliability of the system will be increased. RESULTS This extensive explanation of the current literature on MMC fault diagnosis and control techniques will conclude which methods provide a more valuable solution. Finally, this paper discusses the best approach to reduce MMC faults and provides a future research direction to the readers.

Abstract
Autism in a broader sense is a neurodevelopmental disorder, which frequently occurs during early childhood and can last for a lifetime. This condition is primarily defined by difficulties with social engagement, with individuals displaying repetitive and stereotyped behaviors. Numerous neuroanatomical investigations on autistic children have revealed that their brains grow atypically, resulting in atypical neurogenesis, neuronal migration, maturation, differentiation, and degeneration. Special education programs, speech therapy, and occupational therapy have all been used to address autism-related behavioral problems. While widely prescribed antidepressant drugs, antipsychotics, anticonvulsants, and stimulants have demonstrated response in autistic individuals. However, these medications do not fully reverse the core symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The adverse reactions of ASD medicines and an increased risk of developing various other problems, such as obesity, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, and thyroid disorders, prompted the researchers to investigate herbal medicines for the treatment of autistic individuals. Clinical trials are now being done to establish the efficacy of alternative techniques based on natural substances and to understand better the context in which they may be used to treat autism. This review of literature will look at crucial natural compounds derived from animals and plants that have shown promise as safe and effective autism treatment strategies.

Abstract
Even though there are a great number of possible conformational states, how a protein generated as a linear unfolded polypeptide efficiently folds into its physiologically active form remained a fascinating and unanswered enigma inside crowded conditions of cells. In this study, various spectroscopic techniques have been exploited to know and understand the effect and mechanism of action of two different sizes of polyethylene glycols, or PEGs (molecular mass ∼10 and ∼20 kilo Daltons, kDa), on cytochrome c (cyt c). The outcomes showed that small size of the PEG leads to perturbation of the protein structure, and conversely, large size of the PEG has stabilizing effect on cyt c. Moreover, binding measurements showed that small size of PEG interacts strongly via soft interactions compared to the larger size of PEG, the latter being governed more by excluded volume effect or preferential exclusion from the protein. Overall, this finding suggests that conformations of protein may be influenced in cellular crowded conditions via interactions which depend upon the size of molecule in the environment. This study proposes that both volume exclusion and soft (chemical) interactions governs the protein’s conformation and functional activities. The cellular environment’s internal architecture as evident from crowder size and shape in this study has a significant role.

Abstract
BACKGROUND With the aging population and rising rates of cardiovascular disease (CVD), cardiologists and cardiac surgeons are encountering a growing number of frail older patients that have complex cardiac and non-cardiac issues. Measuring frailty provides valuable prognostic information to help personalize treatment decisions. However, there is minimal evidence on multicomponent frailty interventions in this setting. The TARGET-EFT (The MulTicomponent Acute Intervention in FRail GEriatric PaTients with cardiovascular disease using the Essential Frailty Toolset) trial aims to target physical and non-physical frailty deficits to improve health-related quality of life and hospital-acquired disability in frail patients hospitalized with CVD. METHODS The TARGET-EFT trial is a single-center parallel-group randomized clinical trial in frail and pre-frail older adults ≥65 years admitted to the cardiovascular unit (CVU) at the Jewish General Hospital, Montreal, Quebec. The trial will compare usual inpatient care to a multicomponent intervention targeting physical weakness, cognitive impairment, malnutrition, and anemia. Outcomes of interest in both groups will be assessed at three time points: (1) study enrollment, (2) discharge from the CVU, and (3) 30 days after hospital discharge. CONCLUSIONS The overarching goal is to treat patients' frailty in parallel with their CVD, and in doing so, optimize patient functional losses while in-hospital and shortly thereafter. The results of this trial will inform best practices for patient-centered care in this vulnerable patient group.

Abstract
Aim This study explored the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic effects on overseas Pakistani's residing in various parts of the world, particularly in China, Saudi Arabia (SA), and the United Kingdom (UK). Methods This cross-sectional study was completed between November 2020 and April 2021. An online questionnaire was designed and circulated via various social media mediums to overseas Pakistani communities. The obtained data were statistically analyzed through SPSS version 19 for windows. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results A total of 542 overseas Pakistani participated in the current study. In total, 157 (29%) were females and 385 (71%) males. There were 174 (32.1%), 142 (26.45%), 117 (21.6%), and 109 (19.85%) participants from the UK, SA, China, and other countries respectively. Some participants, or their family members, 93 (17.2%), got infected with the COVID-19. About one-third, 165 (30.4%), of the respondents were afraid that their company would violate their contracts or lose their jobs or be paid less. The majority, 469 (86.5%), believed that the lockdown is increasing their psychological stress. More than half of the participants, 314 (57.9%), stated that the Pakistani embassy did not facilitate them in their country of stay. About one-third, 194 (35.8%), of the respondents faced visa-related issues. More than one-third of respondents, 221 (40.8%), faced health issues due to lack of physical activities during the lockdown. Males were afraid that their company would violate their contract, lose jobs, or be paid less than females (p < 0.001). Both genders had psychological stress and health issues because of the pandemic. The participants from SA faced more visa-related issues, and they were less satisfied with the efforts of the Pakistani embassy to facilitate them compared to the UK and China participants (p = 0.013). Conclusion Our data indicate that the COVID-19 pandemic impacted Pakistanis living in the UK, SA, China, and other parts of the world. They had health-related issues, visa problems and dissatisfaction with Pakistani embassy facilitations. Pakistanis living abroad require government assistance to resolve their issues.
