Abstract
Objective: To explore the characteristics of orthokeratology lenses designed for small correction zones and their effectiveness and safety in long-term prevention and control of myopia in children and adolescents. Methods: It was a prospective cohort study that included myopic children and adolescents who received corneal reshaping treatment at the Qingdao Eye Hospital of Shandong First Medical University between January 2019 and May 2020. The patients were randomly divided into two groups using computer-generated randomization, and were fitted with corneal reshaping lenses with small treatment zones and conventional designs, respectively. The uncorrected visual acuity, best-corrected visual acuity, refractive error, and axial length were measured before and after 6, 12, and 18 months of wearing the lenses. Corneal topography with the Pentacam was also performed, and the area and diameter of the corneal treatment zone were calculated using the Matlab software. Results: A total of 60 myopic patients (60 eyes) were enrolled, including 29 males and 31 females, with an age of (10.40±1.01) years and a spherical equivalent of (-2.88±0.42) D. There were 30 cases in the small correction zone group and 30 cases in the conventional group. There was no significant difference in uncorrected visual acuity and spherical equivalent between the two groups at each time point after treatment. The axial growth in the conventional group was (0.16±0.09) mm at 6 months after treatment, (0.28±0.17) mm at 12 months, and (0.37±0.20) mm at 18 months, whereas in the small treatment zone group it was (0.06±0.05) mm, (0.12±0.10) mm, and (0.18±0.14) mm, respectively. The myopia progression rate in the small treatment zone group was only 37.50%, 42.86%, and 48.64% of the conventional group at 6, 12, and 18 months, respectively. Corneal topography showed that the treatment area in the conventional group was (6.98±0.89) mm², while in the small treatment zone group it decreased by 23.2% [(5.36±0.73) mm²] (P<0.05). Correlation analysis revealed that the axial increase after 18 months of lens wearing was negatively correlated with the age before lens wearing (P<0.05), positively correlated with the corneal surface treatment zone size (P<0.05), and not correlated with the pupil diameter and spherical equivalent (all P>0.05). After the shaping treatment, the rate of adverse reaction, which was mild, in both groups was 10%, and the symptoms disappeared. Conclusion: Orthokeratology lenses with smaller treatment zones can significantly reduce the rate of axial length growth in children and adolescents compared to lenses with conventional treatment zones, without compromising treatment safety.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the clinicopathological features of chordoid glioma. Methods: A total of 12 cases of chordoid gliomas from 2009 to 2020 in Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University and General Hospital of Chinese People's Liberation Army were retrospectively analyzed. The clinical and imaging characteristics, pathologic and molecular characteristics were analyzed, and the relevant literature was reviewed. Results: All 12 patients (4 males and 8 females) aged from 25 to 67 years (mean 39 years) and mainly had a history of headache or/and vision loss. MRI showed that the lesions located in the third ventricle, and they showed abnormal enhancement. Pathologically, these 12 cases displayed the morphologic characteristics of chordoid gliomas, including papillary structures in two cases. Immunohistochemically, GFAP and vimentin were expressed in all 12 cases (12/12). TTF1 was also expressed in all cases (10/10). CD34 and CKpan were seen in 11 cases (11/12). EMA with dot-and/or-ring like positivity was seen in 9 cases (9/10). Tissues were available in nine chordoid gliomas for Sanger sequencing to detect PRKCA and IDH gene mutation, and eight cases (8/9) showed PRKCA gene D463H mutation. None of these cases showed IDH1 R132 and IDH2 R172 mutation. All 12 patients underwent surgery, and four were lost to follow up. The remaining eight patients were progression or recurrence free at last follow-up in January 2021. Conclusions: Chordoid gliomas have relatively distinguishing clinical and histopathological features. PRKCA gene mutation in chordoid gliomas can be considered as a biomarker for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of chordoid gliomas, and may provide a direction for future targeted therapy.

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to assess the comparative effects of dietary antibiotics and oregano essential oil (OEO) addition on growth performance, antioxidant status and intestinal health of broilers. A total of 384 one-day-old broilers were randomly allocated to 4 treatments with 6 replicates of 16 broilers each. The 4 treatments were: an antibiotic-free control diet (control), control + 20 mg/kg colistin sulfate and 20 mg/kg virginiamycin (antibiotics), control + 200 mg/kg natural oregano essential oil (NOEO), and control + 200 mg/kg synthetic oregano essential oil (SOEO). The experiment lasted for 42 d. Results showed that birds fed with OEO had greater (P < 0.05) average daily gain (ADG) and lower (P < 0.05) feed conversion ratio (FCR) than those fed with control diet during d 1 to 21. Besides, birds fed with NOEO had the greatest (P < 0.05) ADG in the four groups during d 22 to 42. The serum oxidative stress parameters showed that OEO improved (P < 0.05) the activities of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione reductase (GR) of birds on day 21 and the activity of total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) of birds on d 42. Relative to control, NOEO increased (P < 0.05) the activity of T-AOC in jejunum and decreased (P < 0.05) the level of malondialdehyde (MDA) in serum and jejunum. Moreover, OEO supplementation increased (P < 0.05) the concentrations of sIgA in duodenum and jejunum, Lactobacillus and total anaerobes in cecum, as well as activities of trypsin, chymotrypsin, lipase and amylase in duodenum, but restrained (P < 0.05) the amount of Escherichia coli. The NOEO supplementation increased (P < 0.05) total anaerobes of broilers on d 42 and the villus height to crypt depth ratio (VH/CD) of ileum. These results suggest that OEO improved antioxidant status and intestinal health of broilers which contributed to the growth performance improvement of broilers. Dietary OEO supplementation can be a promising alternative to antibiotic growth promoters for improving poultry production.

Abstract
Objective: To describe the current status of registration and design characteristics of clinical trials of new drugs for curing hepatitis B through domestic and foreign websites, so as to provide references for the follow-up clinical trials of new hepatitis B drugs. Methods: A search was conducted on the US Clinical Trials Database and the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry Center. The search date was from the establishment of the database to May 26, 2020, and the registration trials of new drugs for curing hepatitis B at home and abroad were included. Two researchers independently searched and screened the literature and extracted the data. Results: A total of 106 registered clinical trials of new drugs for curing hepatitis B were included (94 English registration websites and 12 Chinese registration websites), and the number of registrations had increased year by year. Among them, the proportion of therapeutic vaccines and core protein inhibitors were the highest, accounting for 27.4% (n = 29) and 22.6% (n = 24), respectively. The vast majority of clinical trials (n = 96, 90.6%) were in the early stages (Phase I and II). The subjects in phase I clinical trial were mainly healthy people and treated CHB patients, while the subjects in phase II clinical trial were mainly CHB patients who had achieved viral suppression after initial or post-treatment. The main evaluation indicators of Phase I clinical trials were the safety and tolerability of new drugs. The main evaluation indicators in about half of Phase II clinical trials were HBsAg negative conversion/quantitative decline. Overall, the number of clinical trials with the new design was small, accounting for 3.8% (4 / 106). There were relatively few trials of new drugs for curing hepatitis B on domestic registration websites, and the information provided was incomplete. Conclusion: The number of clinical trials of new hepatitis B drugs at home and abroad is increasing year by year, but most of them are in phase I and II, with few adopting new designs. In addition, the information integrity of the domestic website registration center needs to be improved.

Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium (PQQ·Na2) on inflammatory responses, oxidative stress, and intestinal morphology of broiler chickens challenged with lipopolysaccharide (LPS). A 2 × 2 factorial arrangement in a complete randomized design experiment was used to study the effect of dietary PQQ·Na2 (0 or 1 mg/kg) on broiler chickens with or without a challenge with LPS. A total of two hundred eighty-eight 1-day-old Arbor Acre broiler chickens were randomly assigned to 4 treatments with 6 replicate cages of 12 birds per cage. All experimental broilers were injected intraperitoneally with 0.5 mg/kg body weight of either Escherichia coli LPS or sterile saline at 16, 18, and 20 d of age. Results showed that injecting LPS significantly increased the concentrations of interleukin-1beta (IL-1β) in serum of birds on day 20 and day 21. Meanwhile, LPS injection increased (P < 0.05) the relative mRNA expression of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the duodenal mucosa of broilers on day 21. However, dietary supplementation with PQQ·Na2 decreased (P < 0.05) the concentration of IL-6 in serum of birds on day 20 and the levels of IL-1β, IL-6, and interleukin-10 (IL-10) in serum of broiler chickens on day 21. Besides, supplementation of PQQ·Na2 within diet decreased (P < 0.05) the mRNA expressions of IL-1β and IL-10 in the duodenal mucosa of birds on day 20. Relative to saline injection, the activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in serum and the activities of total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) and catalase (CAT) in liver were found to be lower (P < 0.05) in broilers after LPS challenge on day 21. However, birds fed with PQQ·Na2 showed higher (P < 0.05) GSH-Px activity in serum and higher (P < 0.05) T-SOD activities in liver on day 21 and day 42. Pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium also significantly attenuated the LPS-induced decreases in villus height to crypt depth ratio in the duodenum of broilers. In conclusion, dietary PQQ·Na2 supplementation significantly exerted protective effects on inflammation damage and oxidant stress of broilers under LPS challenge by regulating the expression of inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-10) and activities of antioxidant enzymes (GSH-Px, T-SOD, and CAT). Moreover, dietary PQQ·Na2 supplementation significantly ameliorated the LPS-impaired intestinal morphology in broilers. Therefore, it has been considered that PQQ·Na2 can be used as a potential feed additive in broiler production.

Abstract
Vitamin E (VE) has proven to function as potent lipid-soluble antioxidant, a signaling molecule, and a regulator of the immune system. The objective of the study was to assess the protective effect of VE on laying performance, antioxidant capacity, and immunity in laying hens exposed to Salmonella Enteritidis (SE). A total of 80 32-week-old salmonella-free double negative Hy-Line brown laying hens were randomly assigned to 4 treatments with 20 replicates each (1 bird per replicate) according to a 2 × 2 factorial design with 2 VE supplementation levels [0 IU/kg (VE0) vs. 30 IU/kg (VE30)], and 2 challenge treatments [SE vs. physiological saline solution (PS)]. During the last 3 D of week 43 of age, birds were orally challenged with 1.0 mL suspension of 109 cfu/mL S. Enteritidis daily, whereas the birds of negative treatments (VE0) received the same volume of PS. The egg mass of VE0 treatment decreased (P < 0.05) in contrast to VE treatment after challenge. The serum concentrations of interleukins (IL-1β and IL-6) and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels of SE treatments increased (P < 0.05) at week 44 and week 46, respectively. In both VE30 treatments, the decrease (P < 0.05) in birds' mortality was associated with higher IgA, IgG, IgM concentrations at week 44, and higher IgA, IgM concentrations at week 46. There is an interaction (P < 0.05) between SE challenge and VE levels with regard to feed conversion, daily egg mass, and serum MDA, IgA, and IgM levels. It can be concluded that supplemental VE (30 IU/kg) in diets for laying hens may alleviate oxidative and immune stress due to SE challenge.

Abstract
1. The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of cereal types (maize or wheat) and feed forms (pelleted or mash feed) on production performance, egg quality and egg sanitary indices in laying hens.2. Three hundred and sixty hens (Jinghong No. 1) at 18 weeks of age were randomly assigned to four treatments with six replicates of 15 hens per replicate according to a 2 × 2 factorial design with two cereal types (maize or wheat) and two feed forms (pelleted or mash feed).3. Compared with the wheat-based diet, the maize-based diet improved (P < 0.05) average egg weight of laying hens. Yolk colour of hens fed with the maize-based diet was higher (P < 0.05) in comparison to those fed the wheat-based diet, while Haugh units were lower (P < 0.05) for the maize-based treatment. Egg mass and average daily feed intake of hens fed the pelleted diet were higher (P < 0.05) than of those fed the mash diet. However, the mash diet improved (P < 0.05) yolk colour compared with the pelleted diet. The percentage of dirty eggs for the wheat-based diet was higher (P < 0.05) than for the maize-based diet. The percentage of dirty eggs was higher (P < 0.05) in birds fed the pelleted diet compared with those fed the mash diet. There were interactions (P < 0.05) between cereal type and feed form, with regard to average egg weight and shell thickness.4. In conclusion, dietary cereal type affected average egg weight, yolk colour and Haugh units in eggs, while feed form influenced egg mass, average daily feed intake and yolk colour.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the expression of LC3B, p-AMPKα and p27 in cortical tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). Methods: Nineteen specimens of surgically resected TSC cortical tubers were collected at Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, from 2014 to 2017. The expression of the three proteins in the lesions and the adjacent relatively normal regions was detected by immunohistochemical staining (EnVision two-step method). Results: LC3B was mainly expressed in the dysmorphic neuron and giant cell in TSC cortical tubers and in the adjacent relatively normal neurons, and the expression was diffuse or perinuclear cytoplasmic. There was no significant difference in the average optical density between abnormal cells and neurons adjacent to the lesions (0.343±0.195 vs. 0.419±0.088, P>0.05). p-AMPKα was localized in the cytoplasm of dysmorphic neurons and giant cell in TSC cortical tubers. The average optical density of abnormal cells in the lesions was significantly higher than that of neurons adjacent to the lesions (0.306±0.123 vs. 0.233±0.654, P<0.05). P27 showed nuclear positivity, mainly expressed in the neurons and glial cells close to TSC cortical tubers, while the positive rate in the abnormal cells in TSC cortical tubers was low (15/19 vs. 7/19, P<0.05). Conclusion: There is no significant decrease in the level of autophagy in dysmorphic neurons and giant cells in TSC cortical tubers, which may be related to the compensatory mechanism of AMPK signaling pathway, but without activation of downstream p27.

Abstract
Chronic liver disease has caused increasing numbers of deaths worldwide. Fatty liver hemorrhagic syndrome, one of the chronic liver diseases in laying hens, has great similarity to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in humans. It is characterized by the pathological accumulation of liver fat. Non-invasive techniques are needed for early identification of fibrosis. As primary de novo lipogenesis in the liver of chicken is similar to that of humans, mature chicken is an ideal animal model for the understanding of NAFLD. This study was aimed to evaluate the relationships between gut microbiota and natural chronic liver disease (i.e., non-alcoholic steatohepatitis [NASH] and fibrosis stages) in a well-characterized laying hen population. One hundred 20-wk-old Hy-Line Brown laying hens were used and fed with basal diets until 52 wk of age. At the end of the experiment, birds were killed for sampling blood, liver, and cecal contents, and then classified by liver histology measurement into different groups. We investigated microbial community structure of cecum using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Subjects in stage 0 fibrosis without NASH were classified as low NAFLD (Group A), subjects in stage 1-2 fibrosis with mild to moderate NASH were defined as low NASH (Group B), and subjects in stage 3 fibrosis were defined as severe NASH (Group C). The abundance of Firmicutes was reduced in Groups B and C (P < 0.001), whereas opposite results were observed for the abundance of Bacteroidetes. Additionally, the families Bacteroidaceae, Ruminococcaceae Lachnospiraceae, and lactobacillae were significantly different between groups of differing fibrosis stages (P < 0.001), driven entirely by alterations of Bacteroides and lactobacillus and lachnospiraceae genera (P < 0.001), were observed. Results indicated that cecal dysbiosis was linked with the severity of fibrosis and NASH; importantly, increased levels of serum AST, alkaline phosphatase, and uric acid were accompanied with liver fibrosis and NASH severity. Collectively, these data highlight the role of gut-liver axis and associations between the gut microbiota and fibrosis and NASH severity.

Abstract
The ban on the use of antibiotic feed additives as growth promoters compelled the researchers for exploring the future utility of other alternatives. This experiment was designed to evaluate the effect of acidified drinking water on growth performance, gastrointestinal pH, digestive enzymes, intestinal histomorphology, and cecum microbial counting of the broiler chicken. A total of 540 one-day-old male broilers (Arbor Acre) were randomly assigned to 5 treatments, with 6 replicates of 18 chicks per replicate. Broilers received diets and water as follows: NC (negative control, basal diet, normal water), PC (positive control, basal diet + 8 ppm colistin sulfate + 8 ppm enduracidin, normal water), A1 (basal diet, continuous supply of acidified water during whole experiment period), A2 (basal diet, intermittent acidification of water during 0 to 14 d, 22 to 28 d, and 36 to 42 d), and A3 [basal diet, intermittent acidification of water (24 h/d from 0 to 14 d and from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on d 15 to 42)]. During the entire period, the acidified groups (A1, A2, and A3) and PC group showed improve on weight gain, average daily gain and feed conversion ratio compared to NC group (P < 0.05). The pH in crop, proventriculus and ileum at 43 d declined by 0.04, 1.03, 1.23; 0.55, 0.69, 0.70; and 0.63, 0.74, 1.21 in A1, A2, and A3 group, respectively. There was a significant decline of lipase activity in the PC and acidified groups compared to NC group. The A2 group had higher villus height in jejunum than NC group. The PC and acidified groups reduced (P < 0.05) the total aerobic bacteria count of cecum when contrasted to NC group. Therefore, we conclude that acidified drinking water can improve growth performance, compensate for gastric acidity, and control pathogenic bacteria in broilers and may be considered as a potential alternative to improve production parameters. Discontinuous supply of acidified water had the same or even better influence on broilers compared to continuous supply.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinicpathologic features and probable mechanisms of massive subcortical heterotopia. Methods: Clinical data, histologic features and neuropathologic data were analyzed in five cases of massive subcortical heterotopia collected from Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University from January 2014 to October 2017. Results: All five patients (three males and two females) had a history of refractory epilepsy with a mean period of 15.4 years (range 7 to 21 years). The median age at surgery was 28.6 years(range 20 to 39 years). Magnetic resonance imaging showed that the lesions were located in the temporal lobe (two cases), parietal lobe (one case), both temporal and occipital lobes (one case) and both temporal and parietal lobes (one case). Pathologic examination disclosed that massive gray matter in subcortical and deep white matter with various shape and size. Moreover, one case also showed subpial and periventricular heterotopias and polymicrogyria. Polymicrogyria or hippocampal sclerosis were seen in the remaining three cases. None of the five patients experienced seizure attacks during the follow-up period. Conclusions: Heterotopia is malformations due to abnormal neuronal migration. Massive subcortical heterotopia due to widespread abnormal neuronal migration is relatively rare. The mechanism of heterotopia together with polymicrogyria needs further discussion.

Abstract
This study compared the effects of sodium selenite and selenium yeast and their combination on laying performance, egg quality, antioxidant capacity, and selenium (Se) contents in tissues and eggs. Two-hundred-eighty-eight Jing Hong layers that were similar in laying rate (87.5 ± 0.38%) and body weight (1.70 ± 0.02 kg) were randomly distributed into 4 treatments for 11 wk (from 203 d old to 279 d old) with 9 replicates of 8 hens per replicate. The diets (corn-soybean meal diet) were supplemented with 0 [blank control (BC)], 0.3 mg/kg Se from sodium selenite (SS), 0.15 mg/kg Se from sodium selenite and 0.15 mg/kg Se from Se yeast (SS+SY), or 0.3 mg/kg Se from Se yeast (SY). Results showed that the laying rate of the SS+SY group increased significantly (P < 0.05) compared to the BC and SY groups. There were no differences (P > 0.05) in egg quality between the Se-supplemented diets and the BC diet. The serum glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity was increased (P < 0.01) in hens fed Se-supplemented diets compared to the BC diet. The liver superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity of the SY group was increased significantly (P < 0.05) compared to the BC group. Significant increase (P < 0.01) due to SY supplementation was noted in the serum vitamin E content compared to BC and SS. Layers fed Se-supplemented diets had higher (P < 0.01) contents of Se in the serum, liver, and kidney compared to the BC diet. Compared to BC, Se content in eggs was significantly increased (P < 0.05) by feeding supplementary Se. In conclusion, the effects of SS and Se yeast were approximately equal in promoting antioxidant capacity of laying hens, while Se yeast is easier to deposit into eggs and tissues. The diet with added equal amounts of the 2 sources of Se was more cost effective and affordable than a comparable amount of Se yeast to obtain the promising production performance and nearly similar Se deposition.

Abstract
Over supplementation of copper (Cu) in animal diets may cause serious pollution in soil, water and harvested crops. To minimize the potential pollution, the effects of corn-soybean basal diet with or without supplementation of 8 mg Cu/kg on laying performance, plasma biochemical metabolic indices, and antioxidant status in laying hens were evaluated under normal and cyclic high temperatures. A total of 240 Hy-Line Brown laying hens were randomly allotted to 4 treatments with 6 replicates of 10 hens per replicate according to factorial design involved in 2 temperatures [normal temperature (NT) vs. cyclic high temperature (CHT)] and 2 dietary Cu addition amount [Cu0 (0 mg/kg) vs. Cu8 (8 mg/kg in the form of CuSO4·5H2O)]. The experimental period included 1-week adaptation, 2-week heat stress and 2-week convalescence. The temperatures of NT groups in the same period or any groups during other periods were kept at 26 ± 2°C except that of CHT groups were 26 ± 2°C∼33 ± 2°C cyclically during heat stress period. CHT groups increased (P < 0.05) the rectal temperature and plasma glucose content under heat stress, but decreased (P < 0.01) the egg yield at the second week of heat stress and the first week of convalescence, and the plasma triglyceride, uric acid, and triiodothyronine levels under heat stress. Cu8 groups increased (P < 0.05) egg weight at the first week of convalescence, and plasma thyroxin level during the whole convalescence. Interactions between temperature and Cu content existed (P < 0.05) in the laying rate at the first week of convalescence, and the plasma lactic dehydrogenase level under heat stress. Conclusively, the CHT impaired laying performance. The Cu content (10.3 mg/kg) in corn-soybean basal diet might be sufficient for meeting the maintenance and production requirements of late-phase laying hens, and no Cu supplementation had no adverse effects on egg production and antioxidant indices under cyclic high (26 ± 2°C∼33 ± 2°C) or normal (26 ± 2°C) temperatures.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the application value of Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (TI-RADS) stratification in diagnosing thyroid nodules in respect of the effect of age and gender. METHODS A total of 684 patients with thyroid nodules, including 118 males and 566 females, were stratified into subgroups according to their age and gender, and the results of TI-RADS evaluation were compared with their pathological diagnosis. RESULTS The sensitivity, specificity, and AUC of TI-RADS grading for malignant thyroid nodules in the males was 84.7%, 66.7%, and 0.803 (95% CI 0.709-0.897), respectively. In the females, the sensitivity and specificity were 80.8% and 65.0%, respectively, with an AUC of 0.812 (95% CI 0.758-0.849). There was no statistically significant difference between genders when using TI-RADS to determine the nature of thyroid nodules (P>0.05). In the patients aged 26-35 years, the sensitivity, specificity and AUC of TI-RADS classification for malignant thyroid nodules were 85.4%, 90.0%, and 0.915 (95% CI 0.818-0.987), respectively. In the patients aged 36-45 years, the sensitivity and specificity of TI-RADS classification for malignant thyroid nodules were 84.4% and 78.1%, respectively, with an AUC of 0.898 (95% CI 0.842-0.953). In the patients aged 46-55 years, the corresponding parameters were 79.7%, 71.4% and AUC 0.822 (95% CI 0.789-0.925), respectivey, while in those aged 56-65 years, the corresponding data were 75.6%, 60.0%, and AUC 0.729 (95% CI 0.576-0.785), respectively. The ROC curve of patients aged 56-65 years was statistically significantly different from those of patients aged 26-35, 36-45 and 46-55 years (P<0.05 for all). CONCLUSIONS Patient gender has no significant effect on the results of TI-RADS classification, but age of the patients does. The age factor should be considered during ultrasound diagnosis of thyroid nodules using TI-RADS classification.

Abstract
The aims of this study were to investigate the expression of the H3K4 demethylase, jumonji AT-rich interactive domain 1B (JARID1B/KDM5B) and of p16 (multiple tumor suppressor gene MTS1) in breast cancer tissue and determine its clinicopathological significance. JARID1B/KDM5B and P16 protein expression in 176 resected breast cancer specimens and adjacent normal breast tissue was detected by the streptavidin-peroxidase (S-P) immunohistochemical method. The TNM staging grade was assigned according to the World Health Organization (2012) breast classification system. The positive staining rate of JARID1B/KDM5B and p16 protein in cancer tissue was 74.43 and 35.8%, respectively. JARID1B/KDM5B protein expression was positively associated with T grade, Bloom and Richardson (B&R) score and axillary lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). p16 protein expression was negatively associated with T grade, B&R score, and axillary lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). JARID1B/KDM5B and p16 protein expression in breast cancer and adjacent normal breast tissue were negatively correlated (r = -0.303, P < 0.001). The data demonstrated that protein expression of p16 and JARID1B/KDM5B is negatively correlated in invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Currently, it is difficult to predict the prognosis of patients exhibiting stage II or stage III colorectal cancer (CRC) and to identify those patients most likely to benefit from aggressive treatment. The current study was performed to examine the clinicopathological significance of CD44 and CD44v6 protein expression in these patients. STUDY DESIGN We retrospectively investigated 187 consecutive patients who underwent surgery with curative intent for stage II to III CRC from 2007 to 2013 in the Beijing Civil Aviation Hospital. CD44 and CD44v6 protein expression levels were determined using immunohistochemistry and compared to the clinicopathological data. RESULTS Using immunohistochemical detection, CD44 expression was observed in 108 (57.75%) of the CRC patients; and its detection was significantly associated with greater invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, angiolymphatic invasion, and a more advanced pathological tumor-lymph node-metastasis (TNM) stage. CD44v6 expression was observed in 135 (72.19%) of the CRC patients; and its expression was significantly associated with a poorly differentiated histology, greater invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, angiolymphatic invasion, and a more advanced pathological TNM stage. Expression of CD44v6 was higher than that of CD44 in stage II and stage III sporadic CRC. CONCLUSION CD44v6 is a more useful marker for predicting a poor prognosis in stage II and stage III sporadic CRC as compared to CD44.

Abstract
Alpha-lipoic acid (α-LA) is not only involved in energy metabolism, but is also a powerful antioxidant that can protect against hepatic oxidative stress induced by some drugs, toxins, or under various physiological and pathophysiological conditions. Here, we investigated the effect of α-LA against liver oxidative damage in broilers exposed to aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). Birds were randomly divided into four groups and assigned different diets: basal diet, 300 mg/kg α-LA supplementation in basal diet, diet containing 74 μg/kg AFB1, and 300 mg/kg α-LA supplementation in diet containing 74 μg/kg AFB1, for 3 weeks. The results revealed that the addition of 300 mg/kg α-LA protected against the liver function damage of broilers induced by chronic low dose of AFB1 as estimated by a significant (p<0.05) change in levels of plasma total protein, albumin, alkaline phosphatase and the activities of liver glutamic-oxalacetic transaminase and glutamic-pyruvic transaminase. The histopathological analysis also showed that liver tissues were injured in the AFB1 diet, but this effect was alleviated by the addition of 300 mg/kg α-LA. Additionally, AFB1 induced a profound elevation of oxidative stress in birds, as indicated by an increase in malondialdehyde level, a decrease in glutathione peroxidase activity and a depletion of the glutathione content in the liver. All of these negative effects were inhibited by treatment with α-LA. Our results suggest that the inhibition of AFB1-induced excess production of lipid peroxides and the maintenance of intracellular antioxidant status may play important roles in the protective effects of α-LA against AFB1-induced oxidative damage in the liver.

Abstract
Summer is another peak season for haze besides winter in Beijing area, which is different from that in South China. The data of microwave radiometer, profiler, sounding, AWS, NCEP (NCAR) and air pollution monitors were used in the analysis of two haze cases which occurred in winter and summer, respectively. Both cases lasted for 6 days. This research focused on the difference in the mechanism of the formation and persistence of haze cases in various seasons. In winter, north-westerly flow dominated Beijing at upper-levels and a few of shallow troughs passed by during persistent haze development. The main meteorological reasons for lower visibility in 6 days were: there was an inversion in the boundary layer all the time; wind was weak at surface and moisture went up gradually. The change of inversion height and humidity day and night led to the diurnal variation of PM2.5 concentration and visibility. The surface wind speed kept lower because the weak cold air could not often hit the surface during the haze case. In addition, three factors played key roles in the inversion formation in boundary layer. One was that the rapid decrease in the surface temperature after sunset due to the radiation. At the same time, there was some warm advection at upper boundary layer. The third one attributed to the temperature increase after the air flowing over the mountains and down. However, in summer, regional transportation of aerosol, sustained convective stability and high air saturation were very important factors for the haze formation. Under the sub-tropic high control, the wind direction at lower troposphere was south. The PM2.5 concentration went up when the speed of south wind increased. The south flow caused by both synoptic scale systems and mountain-valley breeze near Beijing transported the aerosol northward from higher polluted area. There was no inversion in the summer haze case. But, the convective inhibition was kept over 200 J x kG(-1). As the result, it was not favorable for the pollutant diffusion upward. Furthermore, the level of free convection also changed during the day and at the night, which had similar effect on the PM2.5 concentration and visibility as the daily variation of inversion. In conclusion, these cases in winter and summer were categorized into two different kinds of persistent haze. The main reason leading to the difference was the synoptic pattern.

Abstract
In the study, the ciprofloxacin resistance rate was 100%. High-level ciprofloxacin resistance rate was 63.55%. Sixteen different mutation patterns involved in the formation of ciprofloxacin resistance were identified. The most prevalent were patterns P7 (25.2%), P8 (15.0%), P9 (11.2%), P1 (10.3%), and P5 (10.3%). All of the 107 NG isolates analyzed for mutations in the study have demonstrated a change of Ser-91 → Phe in the gyrA gene, and all except one have demonstrated a change in position 95 of the amino acid sequence. All of the 68 high-level QRNG isolates had double mutations in gyrA gene combined with a single or two mutations in parC gene. It is most important that a new mutation site of Ile-97 → Met in gyrA and a new mutation of Leu-106 → Ile in parC were found in the study, both leading to high-level ciprofloxacin resistance (MIC values, 8 μg/mL, 32 μg/mL, respectively). Therefore, we confim that gyrA mutations are necessary for the fluoroquinolone resistance phenotype and parC mutations are correlated intimately with high-level fluoroquinolone resistance. In China fluoroquinolone resistance in Neisseria gonorrhoeae strains is very serious and the new mutation sites in the fluoroquinolone resistance-determining regions emerge more and more quickly. Hence, in China fluoroquinolones, which are used to treat gonorrhoea presently, should be substituted by a new antibiotics.

Abstract
Bacillus subtilis ANSB060 from the fish gut had strong ability to detoxify aflatoxins. The aim of this research was to investigate the protective effect of B. subtilis ANSB060 (ANSB060) on egg quality and biochemical and histopathological changes of liver and kidney in laying hens when exposed to aflatoxin B(1). Treatments (C20, C40, and C60) were prepared by substituting corn contaminated by aflatoxin B(1) (AFB1) at different proportions (20, 40, and 60%) for normal corn in basic diets. The aflatoxin degradation enzyme (E) treatments (E20, E40, and E60) were mixed with the fermentation liquor of ANSB060 with C20, C40, and C60, respectively. The results showed that ANSB060 can improve the eggshell strength in E60 compared with C60 (P ≤ 0.05), and toxin reduced the content of total protein (in groups C20, C40, and C60) and albumin (in C20 and C40; P < 0.05) and heightened the activities of GPT (in C60) and GOT (in C40 and C60) in serum (P < 0.05). In the liver, AFB1 inhibited the activity of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase (C40 and C60; P < 0.05) and increased the content of malonaldehyde (in C40 and C60), which induced the damage in the liver and kidney as shown in the photomicrographs of hematoxylin and eosin-stained sections. The addition of ANSB060 can enhance the activity of antioxidant enzymes, and it recovered the protein synthesis in liver. Moreover, ANSB060 also ameliorated the damage of liver and kidney tissue and restored them to normal. Hence, ANSB060 had the ability to inhibit the damage induced by AFB1; it will have a great potential in industrial applications.

Abstract
Biodegradation and bioconversion of lignin are the result of the combined action of fungi, bacteria and actinomycetes. Through screening from forest soil, two novel isolated actinomycete strains were identified as Streptomyces spp. strains F-6 and F-7 by their morphology, cultural characteristics and high homology to the 16S rRNA gene. Both strains possessed laccase and manganese peroxidase activities. Laccase activity produced by strain F-6 was up to 935.4 U g(-1) dry cell weight. More than 50% of alkali lignin was removed by strains F-6 and F-7 in 12 days of incubation. GC-MS analysis of the biodegraded products showed strain F-6 converted lignin into phenol and broken phenol compounds. The two strains could co-culture with white-rot fungus, and the combined actinonycete-fungus system decomposed alkali lignin effectively.

Abstract
AIMS To compare the efficacies of methylene blue (MB) and carbon nanoparticles (CNs) as tracers for sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB), and assess the value of SLNB in predicting the cervical LN status of patients with thyroid microcarcinoma. METHODS This retrospective analysis comprised 200 thyroid microcarcinoma patients who underwent intraoperative SLNB. Among them, 100 patients were injected with MB dye. The other 100 patients received a CN suspension injection. Routine pathological examination was performed in all resected specimens. RESULTS SLNs detected in the experimental and control groups were 126 and 102, respectively, of which the metastatic LNs confirmed by histopathology were 77 and 48, respectively. The staining rate of cervical level VI LNs in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.001). For the CN method, the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy rate, and false negative rate were 93.3%, 100%, 97%, and 5.2%, respectively, whereas the corresponding figures for the MB method were 80.6%, 100%, 93%, and 9.9%, respectively. The positive rate of cancer metastases for SLNs in the experimental group was 61.1%, which is significantly higher than that in the control group (47.1%; P=0.034). CONCLUSIONS In contrast to the MB method, CNs can maintain the durability of SLN imaging and accurately forecast the LN status of patients with thyroid microcarcinoma; in addition, the CN method was found to be feasible and repeatable. The CN method better aids the screening and selection of patients who are most likely to benefit from cervical LN dissection.

Abstract
The current study was carried out to determine the effects of alpha-lipoic acid (LA) supplementation during late-gestation and lactation on antioxidative ability and performance of sows and their nursing piglets. A total of 160 multiparous sows were randomly allocated to four treatments with 40 replicates per treatment according to parity number and backfat (BF) thickness. Sows were fed 1 of 4 diets from day 85 of gestation to day 21 of lactation. Diets were control without LA; 400 ppm LA supplementation; 600 ppm LA supplementation; and 800 ppm LA supplementation. BF thickness of sows was determined on day 85 and 110 of gestation and days 1 and 21 of lactation. Piglet bodyweight was measured at birth, days 7, 14 and 21. Blood samples were obtained from the sows, and average daily feed intake (ADFI) of the sows during lactation was recorded. There were no differences in BF thickness or ADFI among treatment groups. Dietary LA supplementation resulted in a decrease in blood urea nitrogen (p < 0.01) concentration at days 110 of gestation. Dietary 800 ppm LA increased serum glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity (p < 0.05) and reduced maleic dialdehyde levels (p < 0.01) of sows compared with the control diet at days 21 of lactation. Alpha-lipoic acid supplementation increased the birthweight and weaning weight of piglets (p < 0.01) compared with the control group. Weight gains of piglets from sows fed the 800 ppm LA diets were greater (p < 0.01) between days 7 and 14 compared with piglets from control sows. Weight gains of piglets from sows fed the LA-supplemented diets were greater between days 14 and 21 (p < 0.05) and between days 1 and 21 (p < 0.01) compared with piglets from control-fed sows. In conclusion, the results indicate that antioxidant LA was effective in enhancing antioxidant enzymes activity and improving the performance of sows and their nursing piglets.

Abstract
Camellia is an economically important ornamental plant that has many uses, such as in beverages, foods and medicines. We examined 15 Camellia cultivars in Wenzhou, China, using RAPD markers and measurements of three traits (petal color, flower diameter, blooming period). PCR amplification with 15 random primers produced 1935 bands, observed at 88 amplification loci; 77% of the amplified loci were polymorphic, with a mean of 4.5 polymorphic loci per primer. The similarity coefficient ranged from 0.5419 to 0.7933 among the 15 samples; the lowest value was between Manao (C. reticulata) and Feibai FR (C. japonica), and the largest value was between Chidan (C. japonica) and Yuanyang FG (C. japonica). Cluster analysis divided the 15 cultivars into two groups at the similarity coefficient of 0.65. A correlation was found between RAPD markers and petal color in the first group. No correlation was found between RAPD markers and the other traits (flower diameter, blooming period). This study provides information useful for the identification, classification, phylogenesis, and breeding of Camellia cultivars.

METHODS AND RESULTS The culture supernatant of strain M. fulvus demonstrated high degradation ability against AFB(1) (71·89%), AFG(1) (68·13%) and AFM(1) (63·82%) after 48 h of incubation. An enzyme was purified from the supernatant of M. fulvus using ethanol precipitation and chromatography on DEAE-Sepharose and Superdex 75. An overall 166-fold purification of the enzyme with a recovery of 57% and a final specific activity of 569·44 × 10(3) U mg(-1) was obtained using the present purification protocol. The apparent molecular mass of MADE was estimated to be 32 kDa by SDS-PAGE. AFG(1) and AFM(1) were significantly degraded, by 96·96 and 95·80%, respectively, when treated with pure MADE (100 U ml(-1) ) produced by strain ANSM068. MADE exhibited the largest amount of activity at 35°C and pH 6·0, with Mg(2+) ions greatly promoting and Zn(2+) strongly inhibiting MADE activity. CONCLUSIONS An aflatoxin DEGRADATION ENZYME FROM BACTERIAL ISOLATES CAN EFFECTIVELY REMOVE AFLATOXIN B(1) , G(1) AND M(1) IN SOLUTION. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY The high activity and wide temperature and pH range of MADE for the degradation of aflatoxin have promising applications in control of mycotoxins during food and feed processing.

Abstract
We examined the anti-tumour activity of exosomes derived from dendritic cells (DCs) in combination with cyclophosphamide (CTX) and polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid sodium salt (poly I:C). DCs were pulsed with L1210 lymphocytic leukaemia cell antigen and lipopolysaccharide. The exosomes that the DCs secreted were purified. In vitro, the anti-tumour activity of exosomes was assessed by measuring their ability to induce spleen cell proliferation and the extent to which they induced spleen cells to kill L1210 cells. Poly I:C was able to induce DC maturation. DC-derived exosomes stimulated spleen cell proliferation and enhanced the cytotoxic effects of spleen cells in vitro. DC-derived exosomes, in combination with CTX and poly I:C, suppressed L1210 tumour growth in vivo and gave the greatest prolongation of survival time in tumour-bearing DBA2 mice. These findings suggest that this combination of a tumour vaccine, a conventional anti-cancer agent and a promoter of DC maturation might be a useful anti-cancer therapy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To discuss the anti-tumor activity of ginsenoside Rh2, we observed the expressions of the junction adhesion molecul (JAM) in transplanted-tumor in mice. METHOD The models of 40 transplanted-tumor mice that were established by subsequently injecting cancer ascite of mice (S180) with 0.2 mL per mouse into the preepipodite skin were divided into two groups. Experiment group was drenched with 2 mL ginsenoside Rh2 per mouse, equating to a dose 20 mg x kg(-1). Control group was drenched with 2 mL normal saline per mouse. The expression of JAM-1, JAM-2 in the lymphatics, blood vessels and tumours were observed by immunohistochemical staining. RESULT The expression of JAM-1 on the cancer cells was significantly decreased in experiment group (IA 340.55) as compared with control group (IA 549.90, P<0.05). However, JAM-2 weakly expressed in both two groups. The density of blood vessels in which JAM-1, JAM-2 expressed showed 2.33 and 1.34 in control group, and 1.09 and 0.9 in experiment group respectively. Moreove, the density of lymph vessels were respectively 2.23 and 1.88 in control group compared with 0.99 and 0.79 in experiment group. The expression in blood vessels and lymph vessels in control group were significantly higher than those in experiment group, respectively (P<0.05). CONCLUSION Ginsenoside Rh2 can affect the tumor growth, further angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis by down-regulating JAM expression in tumor.

Abstract
AIM: To explore the mechanism of lymphatic metastasis by observing the expression of lymphatic vessel endothelial hyaluronan receptor-1 (LYVE-1), intercellular adhesion molecular-1 (ICAM-1) and lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1 (LFA-1) in colon adencarcinoma and lymphatic vessels.
METHODS: Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of LYVE-1, ICAM-1 and LFA-1 in 60 patients (30 cases with lymphatic metastasis, 30 cases without lymphatic metastasis) with colon adencarcinoma.
RESULTS: The number density (5.05 ± 1.57 vs 3.45 ± 1.84, P < 0.01) and absorbency (0.231 ± 0.078 vs 0.196 ± 0.089, P < 0.05) of lymphatic vessels in patients with lymphatic metastasis were markedly higher than those in ones without lymphatic metastasis, and the average area of single lymphatic vessel was decreased. The expression of ICAM-1 (0.069 ± 0.036 vs 0.017 ± 0.012, P < 0.01) was increased in the cancer cells from patients with lymphatic metastasis in comparison with that in ones without metastasis, and it was not found in lymphatic vessels. The expression of LFA-1 was detected in the blood vessels and some lymphatic endothelia of colon adencarcinoma patients with lymphatic metastasis.
CONCLUSION: The expression of LYVE-1, ICAM-1 and LFA-1 may lead to hyperplasia and dilation of lymphatic vessels as well as the lymphatic metastasis of colon adencarcinoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE Most of the studies on lymphatic metastasis mechanism of carcinoma are confined to distribution of lymphatics. This research was to observe distribution and morphologic features of the lymphatics in periphery region of carcinoma, and morphologic changes of lymphatic endothelia. METHODS Specimens were obtained from 10 patients with gastric carcinoma and 10 patients with colon carcinoma; 20 mice models bearing colon carcinoma were established. Morphology of lymphatics and ultrastructure of lymphatic endothelia were observed under microscope. Number density and volume density of lymphatics in periphery region of carcinoma and normal region were measured using computer image analysis system; open rate and destructive rate of lymphatics were calculated. RESULTS The lymphatics in periphery region of carcinoma were dilated; their walls were disintegrated. Lymphatic endothelia were dissolved and destroyed into broken fragments; the organellae showed pathologic changes. Number density and volume density of lymphatics were significantly higher in periphery region of colon carcinoma than in normal region [(10.2+/-1.7)/mm(2) vs. (5.1+/-0.8)/mm(2), P < 0.05û (1.5+/-0.2)% vs. (0.7+/-0.0)%, P < 0.05], and were significantly higher in periphery region of gastric carcinoma than in normal region [(8.0+/-0.9)/mm(2) vs. (3.4+/-0.6)/mm(2), P < 0.01; (1.6+/-0.3)% vs. (0.8+/-0.2)%, P < 0.05]. Open rate of lymphatics was significantly higher in periphery regions of mice model colon carcinoma, human gastric carcinoma, and colon carcinoma than in relevant normal regions (22.2% vs. 7.8%, 35.0% vs. 8.0%, and 25.8% vs. 5.0%, P < 0.05). Destructive rate of lymphatics was significantly higher in periphery regions of mice model colon carcinoma, and human gastric carcinoma than in relevant normal regions (20.1% vs. 0, and 35.3% vs. 2.0%, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Compare with the lymphatics in normal tissue, the lymphatics in periphery region of carcinoma tissue are dilated with disintegrated walls; the lymphatic endothelia are destroyed; the density of the lymphatics is increased.

Abstract
Previous studies have demonstrated that acute stress leads to the appearance of T-lymphocytes in skin and bone marrow. In order to examine the effects of adrenergic stimulation on the traffic of immune lymphocytes to the lung, C57BL/6 mice were injected with epinephrine subcutaneously, and changes in lymphocyte representation in lung, hilar lymph node, spleen, and blood were examined at 30 min. Cytofluorimetric lymphocyte subset analysis showed that epinephrine increased "memory" CD4+ lymphocytes in enzymatic digests of lung but decreased their representation in spleen. NK1.1+ lymphocytes were concomitantly increased in lung and decreased in spleen. Next, lymphocytes in spleen or popliteal lymph nodes were labeled with the Hoechst lipophilic red dye PKH26 in vivo 48 h prior to epinephrine injection. PKH26+ lymphocytes were identified in lung tissue at 30 min postepinephrine but not in controls. Lymphocyte traffic was inhibited by propanolol. We conclude that epinephrine promotes rapid shifts in immune lymphocytes from lymphoid tissues into lung and blood. Directed traffic of immune lymphocytes may be a feature of the adaptive immune response to stress at mucosal barrier surfaces.

Abstract
Pulmonary macrophages (Mphi) increase in tissue and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid during inflammation caused by bleomycin (BLM). This study demonstrates that increasing numbers of exudate Mphi in BLM lung injury exhibit dendritic cell (DC) features. After the intratracheal administration of BLM (0.075 U), adherent mononuclear cells from the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BAMC) of C57BL/6 mice were characterized for morphology, immunophenotype, and accessory cell activities. At day 7 post-BLM, 48% of CD11b+ BAMC displayed features of DC differentiation, as judged by dendritic morphology, expression of class II MHC, 33D1, Factor XIIIa, CD80, and CD86 antigens, and the ability to support a primary allogeneic lymphocyte response (MLR). After BLM treatment, CD11b+ peripheral blood monocytes also showed increased expression of 33D1, Factor XIIIa, CD86, and the ability to stimulate an MLR. We conclude that inflammatory DC with immunophenotypic features of monocyte-derived DC increase in the peripheral blood and lung after an inflammatory stimulus.

Abstract
To determine how resident alveolar macrophages (AM) regulate the antigen-presenting-cell (APC) activities of pulmonary dendritic cells (DC) in the response to particulate antigen, we pretreated Lewis rats intratracheally with liposomes containing clodronate (LIP-CLOD), which eliminated AM in vivo. Controls received saline encapsulated in liposomes (LIP-SAL) or saline alone intratracheally. At Day 3, rats were injected intratracheally with 1 x 10(7) heat-killed Listeria (HKL) and DC purified from lung were examined for their ability to stimulate HKL-immune T cells without added HKL. Only DC from LIP-CLOD-treated rats displayed enhanced APC activities for HKL. A second intratracheal HKL challenge at Day 14 yielded lymphocytic cuffing of the microvasculature in LIP-CLOD-treated lungs only. Intratracheal adoptive transfer of normal syngeneic AM into LIP-CLOD-treated rats suppressed APC activities of DC in vitro and the lymphocytic response in vivo. Bronchoalveolar macrophages from rats treated with LIP-CLOD and HKL showed decreased production of nitric oxide (NO), a potent suppressor of DC and T-helper 1 lymphocyte activities as compared with those of controls. We conclude that eliminating AM in vivo reduces local production of NO and promotes pulmonary cell-mediated immunity to HKL.

Abstract
A sensitive and simplified high performance liquid chromatographic procedure has been developed for the quantification of aceclofenac and its major metabolite in dog plasma. The recovery of aceclofenac was 91.3%-96.9%. The relative standard deviation was 3.69%-8.13%. The calibration curve was linear in the range from 0.050 microgram.ml-1 to 51.2 micrograms.ml-1 with gamma = 0.9998. The detection limit of the method is 10 ng.ml-1 for aceclofenac. Plasma concentrations of both aceclofenac and its major metabolite were simultaneously determined. After oral medication of aceclofenac to dogs at the dose of 2.5 mg.kg-1, the drug was absorbed rapidly and reached its peak level in plasma at about 12 min. The plasma drug concentration-time course conformed to a 2-compartment open model with a first order absorption. The mean value of T1/2 alpha and T1/2 beta for aceclofenac were 2.5 min and 137 min respectively. Plasma diclofenac concentration, a major metabolite of aceclofenac, reached its maximum at about 110 min, the mean Cmax for diclofenac was 3.2 micrograms.ml-1. The mean terminal elimination half-life for diclofenac was 140 min.

Abstract
A normal phase liquid chromatographic method was developed for the determination of berberine-type alkaloids in rhizoma Coptidis and traditional Chinese medicine--Angong Niuhuang Wan. Experimental evidences indicate that a normal phase system of a silica column (3.9 x 250 mm) as stationary phase with an eluent of ethyl acetate-formic acid-ethanol (15:3:2) as mobile phase can separate excellently (R5 greater than 1.5) four berberine-type alkaloids in the samples tested. According to the results obtained with this method the percent content of berberine hydrochloride in some Angong Niuhuang Wan from different factories and different batches was 0.331-0.456% and the average recovery was 97.23%; coefficient of variation was 1.2%.

Abstract
By means of incubating slices in 2% glyoxylic acid solution, distribution of adrenergic fibers in the myocardium of various cardiac parts has been studied in the white rat, rabbit, cat, guinea pig and in the man. Both in the animals and in the man the distribution density of the adrenergic fibers of the myocardial plexuses in the auricle is higher than in the ventricle, and in the left half of the heart it is lower than in the right one. There are certain species differences in distribution of the adrenergic fibers. The density of the adrenergic fibers in the guinea pig myocardium is the highest, and in the white rat is is the lowest.
