Abstract
One of the most challenging elements of modeling the behaviour of reinforced concrete (RC) walls is combining realistic material models that can capture the observable behaviour of the physical system. Experiments with realistic loading rates and pressures reveal that steel and concrete display complicated nonlinear behaviour that is challenging to represent in a single constitutive model. To investigate the response of a reinforced concrete structure subjected to dynamic loads, this paper's study is based on many different material models to assess the advantages and disadvantages of the models on 2D and 3D RC walls using the LS-DYNA program. The models consisted of the KCC model and the CDP model, which represented plasticity and distinct tensile/compressive damage models, and the Winfrith model, which represented plasticity and the smeared crack model. Subsequently, the models' performances were assessed by comparing them to experimental data from reinforced concrete structures, in order to validate the accuracy of the overall behaviour prediction. The Winfrith model demonstrated satisfactory results in predicting the behaviour of 2D and 3D walls, including maximum strength, stiffness deterioration, and energy dissipation. The method accurately predicted the maximum strength of the Winfrith concrete model for the 2D wall with an error of 9.24% and for the 3D wall with errors of 3.28% in the X direction and 5.02% in the Y direction. The Winfrith model demonstrated higher precision in predicting dissipation energy for the 3D wall in both the X and Y directions, with errors of 6.84% and 6.62%, correspondingly. Additional parametric analyses were carried out to investigate structural behaviour, taking into account variables such as concrete strength, strain rate, mesh size, and the influence of the element type.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cranial neuropathies (CN) are a rare neuropsychiatric SLE (NPSLE) manifestation. Previous studies reported that antibodies to the kinesin family member 20B (KIF20B) (anti-KIF20B) protein were associated with idiopathic ataxia and CN. We assessed anti-KIF20B as a potential biomarker for NPSLE in an international SLE inception cohort. METHODS Individuals fulfilling the revised 1997 American College of Rheumatology (ACR) SLE classification criteria were enrolled from 31 centres from 1999 to 2011 and followed annually in the Systemic Lupus Erythematosus International Collaborating Clinics inception cohort. Anti-KIF20B testing was performed on baseline (within 15 months of diagnosis or first annual visit) samples using an addressable laser bead immunoassay. Logistic regression (penalised maximum likelihood and adjusting for confounding variables) examined the association between anti-KIF20B and NPSLE manifestations (1999 ACR case definitions), including CN, occurring over the first 5 years of follow-up. RESULTS Of the 1827 enrolled cohort members, baseline serum and 5 years of follow-up data were available on 795 patients who were included in this study: 29.8% were anti-KIF20B-positive, 88.7% female, and 52.1% White. The frequency of anti-KIF20B positivity differed only for those with CN (n=10) versus without CN (n=785) (70.0% vs 29.3%; OR 5.2, 95% CI 1.4, 18.5). Compared with patients without CN, patients with CN were more likely to fulfil the ACR haematological (90.0% vs 66.1%; difference 23.9%, 95% CI 5.0%, 42.8%) and ANA (100% vs 95.7%; difference 4.3%, 95% CI 2.9%, 5.8%) criteria. In the multivariate analysis adjusting for age at baseline, female, White race and ethnicity, and ACR haematological and ANA criteria, anti-KIF20B positivity remained associated with CN (OR 5.2, 95% CI 1.4, 19.1). CONCLUSION Anti-KIF20B is a potential biomarker for SLE-related CN. Further studies are needed to examine how autoantibodies against KIF20B, which is variably expressed in a variety of neurological cells, contribute to disease pathogenesis.

Abstract
Detecting the presence of explosives is important to protect human lives during military conflicts and peacetime. Gas-phase detection of explosives can make use of the change of material properties, which can be sensitive to environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. This paper describes a remote-controlled automatic shutter method for the environmental impact assessment of photoluminescence (PL) sensors under near-open conditions. Utilizing the remote-sensing method, we obtained environmental effects without being exposed to sensing vapor molecules and explained how PL intensity was influenced by the temperature, humidity, and exposure time. We also developed a theoretical model including the effect of exciton diffusion for PL quenching, which worked well under limited molecular diffusions. Incomplete recovery of PL intensity or the degradation effect was considered as an additional factor in the model.

Abstract
Calcium hypochlorite (Ca(ClO)2), which can be stably stored in powder form for a long period, is widely used as a disinfectant in various fields. A new sterilization process was developed in the present study, where a microalgal medium was sterilized using 0.02% Ca(ClO)2, followed by complete neutralization of the Ca(ClO)2 within 8 h through catalytic reaction of an MnCl2-Na2EDTA complex and a synergistic effect of glucose. When comparing the growth of Chlorella vulgaris in the autoclaved medium, a 2.65 times greater maximum cell growth was observed in cells grown in the medium prepared by treatment of Ca(ClO)2. This result indicates that denaturation of the medium by heat can hinder the growth of some microorganisms. In the case of cultivation of Euglena gracilis, successful culture growth was achieved without growth inhibition or contamination on a medium prepared in the same manner.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate a psychometric validation of the endometrial cancer subscales (EnCS) in the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Endometrial (FACT-EN) among patients with endometrial cancer. METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted at a tertiary university-based hospital in South Korea between April and October 2022. Participants completed a survey questionnaire that included the FACT-EN. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses (EFA, CFA) and the reliability were measured using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) under a two-way mixed model. Pearson's correlations were used to evaluate the validity. We also tested known-group validity. RESULTS In total, 240 patients with endometrial cancer participated in the survey. In EFA, we found EnCS included four domains. In CFA, four-factor solution model was good: CFI = 0.659; SRMR = 0.066, and RMSEA = 0.073. The mean (SD) of total score of FACT-EN was 122.84 (23.58). The floor and ceiling effects were 0.4% and 0.4%, respectively. Cronbach's α coefficients for the five scales of the EnCS ranged from 0.78 to 0.91. The ICC of EnCS was 0.76. The convergent and discriminant validity of EnCS was acceptable. In the group analysis, older age and lower ECOG performance scores were associated with higher EnCS scores. The stomach and vaginal domains in EnCS were higher in patients who had completed treatment for more than 1 year compared to those who were still undergoing treatment. CONCLUSIONS FACT-EN has demonstrated its validity as an assessment tool with significant implications for capturing various symptoms in patients with endometrial cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Skin aging, characterized by the deterioration of skin density and elasticity, is a common concern among individuals seeking to maintain a youthful appearance. Zinc-α2-glycoprotein (ZAG) is secreted by various body fluids, and is associated with lipolysis and identified as an atopic dermatitis biomarker. This study evaluated the potential of ZAG peptides, which exert multiple benefits such as anti-aging. MATERIALS AND METHODS We conducted a 4-week clinical trial on patients with noticeable periorbital wrinkles (n = 22) using a ZAG peptide-containing product. The effects of the products on skin density, elasticity, and the depth of periorbital wrinkles were evaluated using Cutometer Dual MPA580, Ultrascan, and Antera 3D CS, respectively. The effect of ZAG peptides on UVB-treated keratinocyte cells was evaluated in vitro to understand the mechanisms underlying its effects against impaired skin barrier function, collagen degradation, and senescence. In addition, the effects of ZAG peptides on cell viability and expression of aging and skin barrier-related genes were assessed using cell counting kit assay and quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, respectively. RESULTS The patients demonstrated improved skin density, elasticity, and reduced periorbital wrinkles. Further, more than 85% patients scored the product as satisfactory regarding anti-aging effects. Furthermore, ZAG peptides reduced SA-β-gal staining, downregulated the senescence-related genes, and upregulated the skin barrier function-related genes in UVB-irradiated keratinocyte cells. CONCLUSIONS Our clinical and in vitro findings showed that ZAG peptides exert anti-aging effects and improve skin barrier functions, suggesting their promising potential as therapeutic agents to combat skin aging and improve skin health.

Abstract
Amlexanox is an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic agent used clinically for the treatment of aphthous ulcers, allergic rhinitis, and asthma. Recent studies have demonstrated that amlexanox, a selective inhibitor of IkB kinase epsilon (IKKε) and TANK-binding kinase 1 (TBK1), suppresses a range of diseases or inflammatory conditions, such as obesity-related metabolic dysfunction and type 2 diabetes. However, the effects of amlexanox on neuroinflammatory responses to amlexanox have not yet been comprehensively studied. In this study, we investigated the novel therapeutic effect of amlexanox on LPS-induced neuroinflammation in vivo, and intraperitoneal injection of amlexanox markedly reduced LPS-induced IKKε levels, proinflammatory cytokines, and microglial activation, as evidenced by ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1 (Iba1) immunostaining. Furthermore, amlexanox significantly reduced proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines in LPS-induced bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDM), murine BV2, and human HMC3 microglial cells. This data provided considerable evidence that amlexanox can be used as a preventive and curative therapy for neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases. In terms of mechanism aspects, our results demonstrated that the anti-inflammatory action of amlexanox in BV2 microglial cells was through the downregulation of NF-κB and STAT3 signaling pathways. In addition, the combination of amlexanox and SPI (a STAT3 selective inhibitor) showed high efficiency in inhibiting the production of neurotoxic and pro-inflammatory mediators. Overall, our data provide rational insights into the mechanisms of amlexanox as a potential therapeutic strategy for neuroinflammation-related diseases.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Although intramedullary nailing is a popular method for tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis, nonunion is one of the most commonly reported complications. This study aimed to evaluate the fusion rate, improvement in functional outcomes, and occurrence of complications in tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis using retrograde intramedullary nailing with partial fibulectomy and onlay bone graft technique. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-six consecutive patients using the proposed technique were retrospectively reviewed. For radiographic outcomes, the union rate, alignment, and any related complications were assessed. Functional outcomes were evaluated using the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society hindfoot scale, Foot and Ankle Outcome Score, and visual analog scale, preoperatively and at the final follow-up. RESULTS The mean follow-up period was 38.2 months. The tibiotalar joint achieved complete union in 80.8% at six months postoperatively, while all the cases achieved complete union at 12 months postoperatively. However, the subtalar joint achieved complete union in 26.9% at six months postoperatively, which gradually increased to 73.1% at 12 months postoperatively, and 80.8% at the final follow-up without revision surgery. A subgroup analysis showed there was a trend of higher subtalar fusion rate when an additional screw for the subtalar joint fixation was placed (86.7% vs. 54.5%). The functional outcomes significantly improved at the final follow-up. A few minor complications occurred, including surgical site infection, irritational symptoms, and metal failure; however, they eventually resolved. CONCLUSIONS Our technique of tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis with partial fibulectomy and onlay bone grafting could be a good option where both the tibiotalar and subtalar joints need to be fused.

Abstract
Excessive bone-resorbing osteoclast activity during bone remodeling is a major feature of bone diseases, such as osteoporosis. Therefore, the inhibition of osteoclast formation and bone resorption can be an effective therapeutic target for various bone diseases. Gryllus biomaculatus (GB) has recently been approved as an alternative food source because of its high nutritional value and environmental sustainability. Traditionally, GB has been known to have various pharmacological properties, including antipyretic and blood pressure-lowering activity, and it has recently been reported to have various biological activities, including protective effects against inflammation, oxidative stress, insulin resistance, and alcohol-induced liver injury. However, the effect of GB on osteoclast differentiation and bone metabolism has not yet been demonstrated. In this study, we confirmed the inhibitory effect of GB extract (GBE) on the receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL)-induced osteoclast formation. To determine the effect of GBE on RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation and function, we performed TRAP and F-actin staining, as well as a bone-resorbing assay. The intracellular mechanisms of GBE responsible for the regulation of osteoclastogenesis were revealed by Western blot analysis and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. We investigated the relationship between GBE and expression of osteoclast-specific molecules to further elucidate the underlying mechanisms. It was found that GBE significantly suppressed osteoclastogenesis by decreasing the phosphorylation of Akt, p38, JNK, and ERK, as well as Btk-PLCγ2 signaling, in pathways involved in early osteoclastogenesis as well as through the subsequent suppression of c-Fos, NFATc1, and osteoclastogenesis-specific marker genes. Additionally, GBE inhibited the formation of F-actin ring-positive osteoclasts and bone resorption activity of mature osteoclasts. Our findings suggest that GBE is a potential functional food and therapeutic candidate for bone diseases involving osteoclasts.

Abstract
Here, we developed a field-deployable molecular diagnostic kit for the detection of RNA viruses that operates in a pipette-free manner. The kit is composed of acrylic sticks, PCR tubes, and palm-sized three-dimensional(3D)-printed heaters operated by batteries. The kit performs RNA extraction, reverse transcriptase loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP), and visual detection in one kit. An acrylic stick was engraved with one shallow and one deep cylindrical chamber at each end for the insertion of an FTA card and ethidium homodimer-1 (EthD-1), respectively, to perform RNA extraction/purification and bimodal visual detection of the target amplicons. First, an intercalation of EthD-1 into the target DNA initially produces fluorescence upon UV illumination. Next, the addition of a strong oxidant, in this case sodium (meta) periodate (NaIO4 ), produces intense aggregates in the presence of EthD-1-intercalated DNA, realized by electrostatic interaction. In the absence of the target amplicon, no fluorescence or aggregates are observed. Using this kit, two major infectious viruses-severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2)-were successfully detected in 1 h, and the limits of detection (LOD) were approximately 1 virus μL-1 for SFTSV and 103 copies μL-1 for SARS-CoV-2 RNA. The introduced kit is portable, end-user-friendly, and can be operated in a pipette-free manner, paving the way for simple and convenient virus detection in resource-limited settings.

Abstract
This study examined specific clinical risk factors for age-related loss of skeletal muscle mass in late middle-aged women with sarcopenia. This Korean nationwide cross-sectional study analyzed data from 2814 community-dwelling women aged from 50 to 64 years old and screened them for sarcopenia. This study examined various risk factors such as age; height; weight; body mass index; waist circumference; skeletal muscle mass index; systolic and diastolic blood pressure; smoking and drinking habits; fasting glucose levels; triglyceride; and cholesterol levels. Complex sampling analysis was used for the data set. Prevalence of sarcopenia with a weighted prevalence of 13.43% (95% confidence interval: 2.15-15.78). The risk factors for sarcopenia were height, body mass index, waist circumference, skeletal muscle mass index, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, triglyceride level, and total cholesterol level (p < 0.05). Weight, fasting glucose level, drinking status, and smoking status were not significant (p > 0.05). These results are expected to contribute to the existing literature on sarcopenia and identify potential risk factors associated with the development of sarcopenia in late middle-aged females. By acknowledging prevalence and recognized risk factors, healthcare professionals may augment their proficiency in recognizing and discerning potential instances of sarcopenia in female patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) is a lower respiratory tract disease caused by a beta coronavirus (CoV) called MERS-CoV, characterized by a high mortality rate. We aimed to evaluate the association between genetic variation in killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIRs) and the risk of MERS in South Koreans. METHODS KIR genes were genotyped by multiplex polymerase chain reaction with sequence-specific primers (PCR-SSP). A case-control study was performed to identify the odds ratios (OR) of KIR genes for MERS and the association of KIR genes and their ligands, human leukocyte antigens (HLA) genes. RESULTS KIR2DS4D and KIR3DP1F showed higher frequencies in the group of all patients infected with MERS-CoV than in the control group (p = 0.023, OR = 2.4; p = 0.039, OR = 2.7). KIR2DL1, KIR2DP1, and KIR3DP1D were significantly associated with moderate/mild (Mo/Mi) cases. KIR2DL2, KIR2DS1, and KIR3DP1F were affected in severe cases. When we investigated the association between KIR genes and their ligands in MERS patient and control groups, KIR3DL1+/Bw4(80I)+, KIR3DL1+/Bw6+, KIR3DL1+/Bw6-, KIR2DS1+/C2+, and KIR3DS+/Bw4(80I)+ were associated with MERS. KIR3DL1+/Bw6- was found in Mo/Mi cases. KIR2DS1+/C2+ and KIR2DS2+/C1+ were found in severe cases. CONCLUSION Further investigations are needed to prove the various immune responses of MERS-CoV-infected cells according to variations in the KIR gene and ligand gene. A treatment strategy based on current research on the KIR gene and MERS-CoV will suggest potential treatment targets.

Abstract
Pinecone oil (PO) of Pinus koraiensis mainly contains α-pinene, β-pinene, and limonene that may ameliorate animal well-being and growth performance. This study evaluated its effects on feed intake, milk composition and yield, serum parameters, and litter growth of sows. Twenty-seven pregnant sows (parity 2-4) were distributed to three dietary treatments. The trial started on Day 107 of gestation and ended on Day 21 of lactation. Sows were given either a basal diet or the basal diet + 200 or 400 mg/kg PO. Each treatment contained nine sows and each sow was considered an experimental unit. Results showed that the average daily gain and weaned body weight of piglets from the sows fed 400 mg/kg PO supplements were higher (p < 0.05) than the piglets from the control sows. Lactose content in colostrum samples and fat content in milk samples were higher (p < 0.05) in 400 mg/kg PO-treated sows, respectively, than those from the sows fed basal diet. Additionally, cortisol concentration and aspartate aminotransferase concentration in sow serum was lowered (p < 0.05) by 400 mg/kg PO on Day 21 of lactation. In conclusion, supplementation of 400 mg/kg PO during late gestation and lactation contributed to greater offspring growth performance, possibly by enhanced milk quality and alleviated maternal stress.

Abstract
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease influenced by a complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors. The activation of the JAK-STAT pathway increases the expression of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-4 and IL-13, further deteriorating AD. Therefore, for the treatment of AD, the JAK-STAT pathway is emerging as a significant target, alongside inflammatory cytokines. This study investigates the potential therapeutic effects of a novel herbal complex, LK5, composed of Scutellaria baicalensis, Liriope platyphylla, Sophora flavescens, Dictammus dasycarpus, and Phellodendron schneider, known for their anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating properties. We examined the anti-inflammatory and anti-AD effects of the LK5 herbal complex in HaCaT cells stimulated by LPS and IL-4/IL-13, as well as in a mouse model of AD induced by DNCB. In HaCaT cells stimulated with LPS or IL-4/IL-13, the LK5 herbal complex demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the expression of inflammatory cytokines including TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β, and downregulating the phosphorylation of STAT proteins. In a murine AD-like model induced by DNCB, administration of the LK5 herbal complex significantly ameliorated clinical symptoms, including dermatitis, ear thickness, and TEWL. Histological analysis revealed a reduction in epidermal thickness and mast cell infiltration. The LK5 herbal complex also inhibited pruritus induced by compound 48/80. Furthermore, the LK5 herbal complex treatment significantly decreased the levels of inflammatory cytokines such as TSLP, IL-6, and IgE in plasma and ear tissue of AD-induced mice. These findings suggest that the LK5 herbal complex may modulate the immune response and alleviate AD symptoms by inhibiting STAT pathways.

Abstract
This study suggests a hybrid method based on ResNet50 and vision transformer (ViT) in an age estimation model. To this end, panoramic radiographs are used for learning by considering both local features and global information, which is important in estimating age. Transverse and longitudinal panoramic images of 9663 patients were selected (4774 males and 4889 females with a mean age of 39 years and 3 months). To compare ResNet50, ViT, and the hybrid model, the mean absolute error, mean square error, root mean square error, and coefficient of determination (R2) were used as metrics. The results confirmed that the age estimation model designed using the hybrid method performed better than those using only ResNet50 or ViT. The estimation is highly accurate for young people at an age with distinct growth characteristics. When examining the basis for age estimation in the hybrid model through attention rollout, the proposed model used logical and important factors rather than relying on unclear elements as the basis for age estimation.

Abstract
Brain organoids, which are three-dimensional cell culture models, have the ability to mimic certain structural and functional aspects of the human brain. However, creating these organoids can be a complicated and difficult process due to various technological hurdles. This study presents a method for effectively generating cerebral organoids from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) using electromagnetic gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). By exposing mature cerebral organoids to magnetized AuNPs, we were able to cultivate them in less than 3 weeks. The initial differentiation and neural induction of the neurosphere occurred within the first week, followed by maturation, including regional patterning and the formation of complex networks, during the subsequent 2 weeks under the influence of magnetized AuNPs. Furthermore, we observed a significant enhancement in neurogenic maturation in the brain organoids, as evidenced by increased histone acetylation in the presence of electromagnetic AuNPs. Consequently, electromagnetic AuNPs offer a promising in vitro system for efficiently generating more advanced human brain organoids that closely resemble the complexity of the human brain.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Acquiring adequate theoretical knowledge in the field of dental radiography (DR) is essential for establishing a good foundation at the prepractical stage. Currently, nonface-to-face DR education predominantly relies on two-dimensional (2D) videos, highlighting the need for developing educational resources that address the inherent limitations of this method. We developed a virtual reality (VR) learning medium using 360° video with a prefabricated head-mounted display (pHMD) for nonface-to-face DR learning and compared it with a 2D video medium. METHODS Forty-four participants were randomly assigned to a control group (n = 23; 2D video) and an experimental group (n = 21; 360° VR). DR was re-enacted by the operator and recorded using 360° video. A survey was performed to assess learning satisfaction and self-efficacy. The nonparametric statistical tests comparing the groups were conducted using SPSS statistical analysis software. RESULTS Learners in the experimental group could experience VR for DR by attaching their smartphones to the pHMD. The 360° VR video with pHMD provided a step-by-step guide for DR learning from the point of view of an operator as VR. Learning satisfaction and self-efficacy were statistically significantly higher in the experimental group than the control group (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS The 360° VR videos were associated with greater learning satisfaction and self-efficacy than conventional 2D videos. However, these findings do not necessarily substantiate the educational effects of this medium, but instead suggest that it may be considered a suitable alternative for DR education in a nonface-to-face environment. However, further examination of the extent of DR knowledge gained in a nonface-to-face setting is warranted. Future research should aim to develop simulation tools based on 3D objects and also explore additional uses of 360° VR videos as prepractical learning mediums.

Abstract
Various modifications of distal chevron metatarsal osteotomy (DCMO) have been introduced for correcting moderate hallux valgus deformity; however, the amount of correction may be limited, and complications, such as the recurrence of the deformity and avascular necrosis of the metatarsal head, have been a problem. This study aimed to present a modified 90-degree DCMO technique that overcomes the previously reported shortcomings and to report a successful short-term radiographic outcome. Sixty-eight consecutive patients who underwent the operation with our modified DCMO technique and twenty-two consecutive patients with the conventional DCMO technique (control group) were retrospectively analyzed. The radiographic measurements were evaluated preoperatively, at two months post operation, and at the final follow-up. Both groups showed a significant correction of the hallux valgus angle, first-second intermetatarsal angle, distal metatarsal articular angle, and sesamoid position at the final follow-up, while the amount of correction was significantly greater in the modified DCMO group. In both groups, there were no cases of complications such as avascular necrosis of the metatarsal head, nonunion, and surgical site infection appearing throughout the follow-up period. Therefore, the modified 90-degree DCMO technique is effective and safe, which could serve as a favorable option to treat moderate hallux valgus deformity.

Abstract
Mealworms beetles, Tenebrio molitor, are the limelight next-generation food for humans due to their high nutrient contents. Since Tenebrio molitor is used as feed for pets and livestock in addition to their ability to decompose polystyrene and plastic waste, it is recognized as an insect with an industrial core value. Therefore, it is important to study the immune mechanism related to the development and infection of mealworms for mass breeding purposes. The immune deficiency (Imd) signaling is one of the main pathways with pivotal roles in the production of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). Transforming growth factor-β activated kinase (TAK1) is one of the Imd pathway components, forms a complex with TAK1 binding protein 2 (TAB2) to ultimately help activate the transcription factor Relish and eventually induce host to produce AMPs. Relatively, little has been revealed about TAK1 in insect models, especially in the T. molitor. Therefore, this study was conducted to elucidate the function of TmTak1 in T. molitor. Our results showed that the highest and lowest mRNA expression of TmTak1 were found in egg and young larvae respectively. The tissue-specific expression patterns were reported in the gut of T. molitor larvae and the fat bodies of adults. Systemic microbial challenge illustrated TmTak1 high expression following the fungal infection in all dissected tissues except for the whole body. However, silencing TmTak1 experiments showed that the survivability of T. molitor larvae affected significantly following Escherichia coli infection. Accordingly, AMP induction after TmTak1 knock down was mainly reported in the integument and the fat bodies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Aedes (Stegomyia)-borne diseases are an expanding global threat, but gaps in surveillance make comprehensive and comparable risk assessments challenging. Geostatistical models combine data from multiple locations and use links with environmental and socioeconomic factors to make predictive risk maps. Here we systematically review past approaches to map risk for different Aedes-borne arboviruses from local to global scales, identifying differences and similarities in the data types, covariates, and modelling approaches used. METHODS We searched on-line databases for predictive risk mapping studies for dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and yellow fever with no geographical or date restrictions. We included studies that needed to parameterise or fit their model to real-world epidemiological data and make predictions to new spatial locations of some measure of population-level risk of viral transmission (e.g. incidence, occurrence, suitability, etc.). RESULTS We found a growing number of arbovirus risk mapping studies across all endemic regions and arboviral diseases, with a total of 176 papers published 2002-2022 with the largest increases shortly following major epidemics. Three dominant use cases emerged: (i) global maps to identify limits of transmission, estimate burden and assess impacts of future global change, (ii) regional models used to predict the spread of major epidemics between countries and (iii) national and sub-national models that use local datasets to better understand transmission dynamics to improve outbreak detection and response. Temperature and rainfall were the most popular choice of covariates (included in 50% and 40% of studies respectively) but variables such as human mobility are increasingly being included. Surprisingly, few studies (22%, 31/144) robustly tested combinations of covariates from different domains (e.g. climatic, sociodemographic, ecological, etc.) and only 49% of studies assessed predictive performance via out-of-sample validation procedures. CONCLUSIONS Here we show that approaches to map risk for different arboviruses have diversified in response to changing use cases, epidemiology and data availability. We identify key differences in mapping approaches between different arboviral diseases, discuss future research needs and outline specific recommendations for future arbovirus mapping.

Abstract
Stroke survivors are at an increased risk of falls and fractures. Physical activity is inversely associated with the fracture risk in the general population. However, the association between incident fracture risk and changes in habitual physical activity before and after an index stroke remains unclear. This study attempted to explore the association between incident fracture risk and changes in physical activity after stroke. Using the claims database of the National Health Insurance Program in Korea, participants with their first ischemic stroke between 2010 and 2016 were enrolled in the study. The participants were divided into four groups according to changes in physical activity habits evaluated using two consecutive self-reported questionnaires before and after stroke, if available: persistent non-exercisers, exercise dropouts, new exercisers, and persistent exercisers. The primary outcome was a composite of vertebral, hip, and other fractures. We performed multivariable Cox proportional hazard regression analysis and provided adjusted hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals for each outcome. Among 202,234 participants included from 1,005,879 datasets, 16,621 (8.22%) experienced any type of fracture as the primary outcome. After multivariable adjustment, exercise dropouts (n = 37,106), new exercisers (n = 36,821), and persistent exercisers (n = 74,647) had a significantly reduced risk of any type of fracture (aHR 0.932, 95% CI 0.893-0.973; aHR 0.938, 95% CI 0.900-0.978; aHR 0.815, 95% CI 0.780-0.852, respectively) compared to the persistent non-exercisers (n = 53,660). Furthermore, regardless of pre-stroke exercise status, those who exercised ≥ 1000 metabolic equivalents of tasks post-stroke had a significantly reduced risk of fractures. Initiating or continuing moderate-to-vigorous regular physical activity after acute ischemic stroke was associated with a significantly lower risk of incident fractures, including hip, vertebral, and other types.

Abstract
Keloid scars are fibro-proliferative conditions characterized by abnormal fibroblast proliferation and excessive extracellular matrix deposition. The mammalian target of the rapamycin (mTOR) pathway has emerged as a potential therapeutic target in keloid disease. Silibinin, a natural flavonoid isolated from the seeds and fruits of the milk thistle, is known to inhibit the mTOR signaling pathway in human cervical and hepatoma cancer cells. However, the mechanisms underlying this inhibitory effect are not fully understood. This in vitro study investigated the effects of silibinin on collagen expression in normal human dermal and keloid-derived fibroblasts. We evaluated the effects of silibinin on the expressions of collagen types I and III and assessed its effects on the suppression of the mTOR signaling pathway. Our findings confirmed elevated mTOR phosphorylation levels in keloid scars compared to normal tissue specimens. Silibinin treatment significantly reduced collagen I and III expressions in normal human dermal and keloid-derived fibroblasts. These effects were accompanied by the suppression of the mTOR signaling pathway. Our findings suggest the potential of silibinin as a promising therapeutic agent for preventing and treating keloid scars. Further studies are warranted to explore the clinical application of silibinin in scar management.

Abstract
Obesity is a global issue faced by many individuals worldwide. However, no drug has a pronounced effect with few side effects. Green tea, a well-known natural product, shows preventive effects against obesity by decreasing lipogenesis and increasing fat oxidation and antioxidant capacity. In contrast, other natural products are known to contribute to obesity. Relevant articles published on the therapeutic effect of natural products on obesity were retrieved from PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus. The search was conducted by entering keywords such as "obesity", "natural product", and "clinical trial". The natural products were classified as single compounds, foods, teas, fruits, herbal medicines-single extract, herbal medicines-decoction, and herbal medicines-external preparation. Then, the mechanisms of these medicines were organized into lipid metabolism, anti-inflammation, antioxidation, appetite loss, and thermogenesis. This review aimed to assess the efficacy and mechanisms of effective natural products in managing obesity. Several clinical studies reported that natural products showed antiobesity effects, including Coffea arabica (coffee), Camellia sinensis (green tea), Caulerpa racemosa (green algae), Allium sativum (garlic), combined Ephedra intermedia Schrenk, Thea sinensis L., and Atractylodes lancea DC extract (known as Gambisan), Ephedra sinica Stapf, Angelica Gigantis Radix, Atractylodis Rhizoma Alba, Coicis semen, Cinnamomi cortex, Paeoniae radix alba, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis (known as Euiiyin-tang formula). Further studies are expected to refine the pharmacological effects of natural products for clinical use.

Abstract
The quest for water-splitting photocatalysts to generate hydrogen as a clean energy source from two-dimensional (2D) materials has enormous implications for sustainable energy solutions. Photocatalytic water splitting, a major field of interest, is focused on the efficient production of hydrogen from renewable resources such as water using 2D materials. Tin sulfide and tin disulfide, collectively known as SnS and SnS2, respectively, are metal sulfide compounds that have gained attention for their photocatalytic properties. Their unique electronic structures and morphological characteristics make them promising candidates for harnessing solar energy for environmental and energy-related purposes. CdS/SnS/SnS2 photocatalysts with two Sn phases (II and IV) were synthesized using a solvothermal method in this study. CdS was successfully placed on a broad SnS/SnS2 plane after a series of characterizations. We found that it is composited in the same way as a core-shell shape. When the SnS/SnS2 phase ratio was dominated by SnS and the structure was composited with CdS, the degradation efficiency was optimal. This material demonstrated high photocatalytic hydrogenation efficiency as well as efficient photocatalytic removal of Cr(VI) over 120 min. Because of the broad light absorption of CdS, the specific surface area, which is the reaction site, became very large. Second, it served as a transport medium for electron transfer from the conduction band (CB) of the SnS to the CB of the SnS2. Because of the composite, these electrons flowed into the CB of CdS, improving the separation efficiency of the photogenerated carriers even further. This material, which was easily composited, also effectively prevented mineral corrosion, which is a major issue with CdS.

Abstract
Metabolic dysfunction, which includes intra-abdominal adiposity, glucose intolerance, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, manifests into metabolic syndrome and related diseases. Therefore, the discovery of new therapies in the fight against metabolic syndrome is very challenging. This study aims to reveal the existence of an edible bird nest (EBN) as a functional food candidate that may be a new alternative in fighting metabolic syndrome. The study included three approaches: in silico molecular docking simulation, in vitro, and in vivo in rats fed on cholesterol- and fat-enriched diets. Four terpenoids of Bakuchiol, Curculigosaponin A, Dehydrolindestrenolide, and 1-methyl-3-(1-methyl-ethyl)-benzene in EBN have been identified through LCMS/MS-QTOF. In molecular docking simulations, Bakuchiol and Dehydrolindestrenolide are considered very potent because they have higher inhibitory power on the four receptors (iNOS, ROS1 kinase, FTO, and lipase) than standard drugs. In vitro tests also provide insight into the antioxidant, antidiabetic, and antiobesity activities of EBN, which is quite feasible due to the smaller EC50 value of EBN compared to standard drugs. Interestingly, in vivo studies also showed significant improvements (p < 0.05) in the lipid profile, blood glucose, enzymatic levels, and inflammatory biomarkers in rats given high-dose dietary supplementation of EBN. More interestingly, high-dose dietary supplementation of EBN upregulates PGC-1α and downregulates HMG-CoA reductase. Comprehensively, it has been revealed that EBN can be novel functional foods for combating metabolic syndrome.

Abstract
Background: Aside from primary pseudotumor cerebri syndrome (PTCS) with an unknown etiology (i.e., idiopathic intracranial hypertension), which typically occurs in association with obesity, several conditions including cerebral venous abnormalities, drug use, and hormonal imbalance may be a secondary cause of PTCS. However, a focal space-occupying lesion outside of the brain as a cause of PTCS has rarely been reported. Case Presentation: A previously healthy 34-year-old man presented with blurred vision for three weeks. The patient had a three-month preceding history of worsening headache. On admission, he was hypertensive (160/90 mmHg) and underweight with a body mass index of 18.4 kg/m2. Fundus examination documented papilledema in both eyes. Neurological examination was unremarkable except for mild nuchal rigidity, and results of routine serologic testing were normal. Gadolinium-enhanced brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed bilateral posterior scleral flattening, suggesting intracranial hypertension. There was no other abnormal brain parenchymal lesion or meningeal enhancement. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) assay showed a markedly increased opening pressure (30.0 cmH2O) with normal CSF composition. A tentative diagnosis of PTCS was made based on ophthalmological, neuroradiological, and laboratory findings. During differential diagnosis, abdomen computed tomography demonstrated a huge benign cystic lesion (14.7 × 10.6 × 16.4 cm) in the right retroperitoneal space, which originated from the mesentery and resulted in hydronephrosis and renovascular hypertension due to external compression of the right kidney. Other evaluations were unremarkable. After successful surgical removal of the cyst, clinical symptoms such as headache, blurred vision, and papilledema on fundus examination were markedly improved, and blood pressure was normalized during the three-month follow-up period. Conclusions: A large retroperitoneal cyst that can increase intra-abdominal pressure could be a rare cause of PTCS. Therefore, meticulous evaluation is warranted for patients with PTCS, especially those without known risk factors.

Abstract
Impairments in gait, postural stability, and sensory functions were proved to be strongly associated with severe cognitive impairment such as in dementia. However, to prevent dementia, it is necessary to detect cognitive deterioration early, which requires a deeper understanding of the connections between the aforementioned functions and global cognition. Therefore, the current study measured gait, postural, auditory, and visual functions and, using principal component analysis, explored their individual and cumulative association with global cognition. The global cognitive function of 82 older Korean males was determined using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. The motor and sensory functions were summarized into seven independent factors using factor analysis, followed by age and education-level-adjusted linear regression model analysis. The seven factors obtained using factor analysis were gait speed, gait stability, midstance, general auditory ability, auditory recognition, overall visual ability, and postural stability. The linear regression model included years of education, gait stability, postural stability, and auditory recognition, and was able to explain more than half of the variability in cognitive score. This shows that motor and sensory parameters, which are obtainable through wearable sensors and mobile applications, could be utilized in detecting cognitive fluctuations even in the early stages of cognitive deterioration.

Abstract
Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder that leads to accelerated skeletal muscle atrophy. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of salbutamol (SLB) on skeletal muscle atrophy in high-fat diet (HFD)/streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. Male Sprague Dawley rats were divided into four groups (n = 6): control, SLB, HFD/STZ, and HFD/STZ + SLB (6 mg/kg orally for four weeks). After the last dose of SLB, rats were assessed for muscle grip strength and muscle coordination (wire-hanging, rotarod, footprint, and actophotometer tests). Body composition was analyzed in live rats. After that, animals were sacrificed, and serum and gastrocnemius (GN) muscles were collected. Endpoints include myofibrillar protein content, muscle oxidative stress and antioxidants, serum pro-inflammatory cytokines (interleukin-1β, interleukin-2, and interleukin-6), serum muscle markers (myostatin, creatine kinase, and testosterone), histopathology, and muscle 1H NMR metabolomics. Findings showed that SLB treatment significantly improved muscle strength and muscle coordination, as well as increased lean muscle mass in diabetic rats. Increased pro-inflammatory cytokines and muscle markers (myostatin, creatine kinase) indicate muscle deterioration in diabetic rats, while SLB intervention restored the same. Also, Feret's diameter and cross-sectional area of GN muscle were increased by SLB treatment, indicating the amelioration in diabetic rat muscle. Results of muscle metabolomics exhibit that SLB treatment resulted in the restoration of perturbed metabolites, including histidine-to-tyrosine, phenylalanine-to-tyrosine, and glutamate-to-glutamine ratios and succinate, sarcosine, and 3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB) in diabetic rats. These metabolites showed a pertinent role in muscle inflammation and oxidative stress in diabetic rats. In conclusion, findings showed that salbutamol could be explored as an intervention in diabetic-associated skeletal muscle atrophy.

Abstract
Our investigation intended to analyze the effects of sulfated polysaccharides from Caulerpa racemosa (SPCr) in attenuating obesity-induced cardiometabolic syndrome via regulating the protein arginine N-methyltransferase 1-asymmetric dimethylarginine-dimethylarginine dimethylamino-hydrolase (PRMT1-DDAH-ADMA) with the mammalian target of rapamycin-Sirtuin 1-5' AMP-activated protein kinase (mTOR-SIRT1-AMPK) pathways and gut microbiota modulation. This is a follow-up study that used SPs from previous in vitro studies, consisting of 2,3-di-O-methyl-1,4,5-tri-O-acetylarabinitol, 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-methyl-D-mannopyranose, and type B ulvanobiuronicacid 3-sulfate. A total of forty rats were randomly divided into four treatment groups: Group A received a standard diet; Group B was provided with a diet enriched in cholesterol and fat (CFED); and Groups C and D were given the CFED along with ad libitum water, and daily oral supplementation of 65 or 130 mg/kg of body weight (BW) of SPCr, respectively. Group D showed the lowest low-density lipoprotein, triglyceride, total cholesterol, and blood glucose levels, and the highest HDL level compared to the other groups in this study. These results in the group fed high-dose SPCr demonstrated a significant effect compared to the group fed low-dose SPCr (p < 0.0001), as well as in total cholesterol and blood glucose (p < 0.05). Supplementation with SPCr was also observed to have an upregulation effect on peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator (PGC)-1alpha, interleukin 10, Sirtuin 1, DDAH-II, superoxide dismutase (SOD) cardio, and AMPK, which was also followed by a downregulation of PRMT-1, TNF-α, 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitor, and mTOR. Interestingly, gut microbiota modulation was also observed; feeding the rats with a cholesterol-enriched diet shifted the gut microbiota composition toward the Firmicutes level, lowered the Bacteroidetes level, and increased the Firmicutes level. A dose of 130 mg/kg BW of SPCr is the recommended dose, and investigation still needs to be continued in clinical trials with humans to see its efficacy at an advanced level.

Abstract
We aimed to compare network properties between focal-onset nonconvulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) and toxic/metabolic encephalopathy (TME) during periods of periodic discharge using graph theoretical analysis, and to evaluate the applicability of graph measures as markers for the differential diagnosis between focal-onset NCSE and TME, using machine learning algorithms. Electroencephalography (EEG) data from 50 focal-onset NCSE and 44 TMEs were analyzed. Epochs with nonictal periodic discharges were selected, and the coherence in each frequency band was analyzed. Graph theoretical analysis was performed to compare brain network properties between the groups. Eight different traditional machine learning methods were implemented to evaluate the utility of graph theoretical measures as input features to discriminate between the two conditions. The average degree (in delta, alpha, beta, and gamma bands), strength (in delta band), global efficiency (in delta and alpha bands), local efficiency (in delta band), clustering coefficient (in delta band), and transitivity (in delta band) were higher in TME than in NCSE. TME showed lower modularity (in delta band) and assortativity (in alpha, beta, and gamma bands) than NCSE. Machine learning algorithms based on EEG global graph measures classified NCSE and TME with high accuracy, and gradient boosting was the most accurate classification model with an area under the receiver operating characteristics curve of 0.904. Our findings on differences in network properties may provide novel insights that graph measures reflecting the network properties could be quantitative markers for the differential diagnosis between focal-onset NCSE and TME.

Abstract
Sex differences are observed in various spectrums of skin diseases, and there are differences in wound healing rate. Herein, sex differences were identified for the newly healed skin microbiome of burn patients. Fifty-two skin samples (26 normal skin, 26 burn scars) were collected from 26 burn patients (12 male, 14 female) and microbiota analysis was performed. The correlation between skin microbiota and biomechanical properties of burn scars was also investigated. There were no significant differences in clinical characteristics between male and female patients. Considering the biomechanical properties of burn scars and normal skin around it performed before sample collection, the mean erythema level of men's normal skin was significantly higher than that of women, whereas the mean levels of melanin, transepidermal water loss and skin hydration showed no significant sex differences. The erythrocyte sedimentation rate was significantly higher in females than that in males. Alpha diversity showed no significant differences between normal skin and burn scars in the male group. However, the scar was significantly higher than that of normal skin in the female group. Microbial network analysis revealed that the male group had more complex microbial network than the female group. Additionally, in the male group, the edge density and clustering coefficient were higher in burn scars when compared to normal skin, than the female group. There were sex differences in the results of microbiome of normal skin and burn scars. Some of the altered microbiota have been correlated with the biomechanical properties of burn scars. In conclusion, sex difference in the burn scar microbiome was confirmed. These results suggest that burn treatment strategies should vary with sex.

Abstract
Droplet-based microfluidics offer great opportunities for applications in various fields, such as diagnostics, food sciences, and drug discovery. A droplet provides an isolated environment for performing a single reaction within a microscale-volume sample, allowing for a fast reaction with a high sensitivity, high throughput, and low risk of cross-contamination. Owing to several remarkable features, droplet-based microfluidic techniques have been intensively studied. In this review, we discuss the impact of droplet microfluidics, particularly focusing on drug screening and development. In addition, we surveyed various methods of device fabrication and droplet generation/manipulation. We further highlight some promising studies covering drug synthesis and delivery that were updated within the last 5 years. This review provides researchers with a quick guide that includes the most up-to-date and relevant information on the latest scientific findings on the development of droplet-based microfluidics in the pharmaceutical field.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although social interaction is important for dementia care and well-being of persons living with dementia, a limited number of studies have reported. This study aimed to examine whether the presence, type, and quality of social interaction is associated with psychological well-being among residents with dementia. METHODS This study analyzed 258 videos of 30 participants living with dementia. Social interaction was assessed by quality, type, and presence of interaction. Psychological well-being was measured by positive and negative emotional expressions. A mixed model was used for data analysis since these repeatedly measured observation data were nested within subjects. RESULTS Positive and neutral interactions were significantly associated with positive emotional expressions after controlling covariates, while negative interaction was significantly associated with negative emotional expressions. There was no significant relationship found between interaction presence or type and emotional expressions. CONCLUSIONS This study showed interaction quality is essential to promote psychological well-being in persons living with dementia regardless of presence or type of interaction. This study highlights the importance of positive care provider interactions in dementia care. Additionally, institutional efforts to create an environment to reduce negative interactions appears essential to improve the psychological well-being of persons living with dementia. Abstract
Steroid-induced cataracts (SIC) are defined as cataracts associated with the administration of corticosteroids. Long-term glucocorticoid treatment for inflammatory diseases reportedly increases the risk of SIC, and steroids can induce cataracts by disrupting ocular growth factor balance or homeostasis. In this study, we verified the effect of chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan 5 (CSPG5) using dexamethasone (dexa)-treated human lens epithelial (HLE-B3) cells and the lens epithelium from the anterior capsule of SIC patients obtained during cataract surgery. CSPG5 expression increased in the lens epithelium of SIC patients. The downregulation of CSPG5 suppressed the dexa-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related protein expression and motility in HLE-B3 cells. The disruption of the transcription factors EZH2 and B-Myb downregulated CSPG5, dexa-induced fibronectin expression, and cell migration in HLE-B3 cells, reaffirming that CSPG5 expression regulates EMT in lens epithelial cells. Taken together, these results indicate that the steroid-induced effects on lens epithelial cells are mediated via alterations in CSPG5 expression. Therefore, our study emphasizes the potential of CSPG5 as a therapeutic target for the prevention and treatment of SIC.

Abstract
The interest in bioconversion through fermentation of sprouts produced in smart farms is increasing due to their potential health benefits. Codonopsis lanceolata (CL) is reported to alleviate inflammatory conditions, but much research is still needed to determine which types and parts of CL are most effective. This study investigated the anti-inflammatory effects of a fermented extract of CL sprouts' aerial part (F-CSA) against LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages and mice. In the screening test, F-CSA showed the most substantial anti-inflammatory effect among several samples, containing the highest total flavonoids, tannins, and polyphenols. UPLC-ESI-Q/TOF-MS and HPLC analysis revealed that F-CSA had the highest amount of luteolin among all the CL samples analyzed. F-CSA reduced the release of inflammatory cytokines and mediators such as NO and PGE2 by inhibiting the expression levels of iNOS and COX-2 in LPS-stimulated macrophages. Further, we found that the anti-inflammatory effects of F-CSA were mediated by inhibiting the JNK/NF-κB signaling pathway. Moreover, F-CSA improved survival rates and reduced plasma levels of NO and IL-6 in CD1 mice stimulated with LPS. These findings suggest that F-CSA, which contains luteolin, can alleviate inflammation in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells and a CD1 mouse model by inhibiting the JNK/NF-κB signaling pathways.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Augmented reality (AR) technology has been shown to be effective in displaying information and presenting three-dimensional objects. Although AR applications are commonly used by learners via mobile devices, plastic models or two-dimensional images are still commonly used in tooth carving practice. Learners practicing tooth carving face a challenge due to the three-dimensional features of teeth as there is a lack of tools available that provide sequential guidance. In this study, we developed an AR-based tooth carving practice tool (AR-TCPT) and compared it to a plastic model to evaluate its potential as a practice tool as well as its user experience. METHODS To model tooth carving, we created a three-dimensional object from sequential steps that included the maxillary canines and maxillary first premolars (16 steps), mandibular first premolars (13 steps), and mandibular first molars (14 steps). Image markers, created using Photoshop software, were assigned to each tooth. An AR-based mobile application was developed using the Unity engine. For tooth carving, 52 participants were randomly assigned to a control group (n = 26; using a plastic tooth model) or an experimental group (n = 26; using the AR-TCPT). User experience was evaluated using a 22-item questionnaire. Data were comparatively analyzed using the nonparametric Mann-Whitney U test via the SPSS program. RESULTS The AR-TCPT detects image markers with the mobile device camera and displays three-dimensional objects for tooth fragmentation. Users can manipulate the device to view each step or examine the shape of a tooth. The results of the user experience survey revealed that the AR-TCPT experimental group scored significantly higher in tooth carving experience compared with the control group that used the plastic model. CONCLUSION Compared with the conventional plastic model, the AR-TCPT provided a better user experience for tooth carving. The tool is highly accessible as it is designed to be used on mobile devices by users. Further studies are required to determine the educational impact of the AR-TCTP on quantitative scoring of carved teeth as well as individual user's carving abilities.

Abstract
Sepsis-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication in critically ill patients, often resulting in high rates of morbidity and mortality. Previous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of casein kinase 2 alpha (CK2α) inhibition in ameliorating ischemia-reperfusion-induced AKI. In this study, our aim was to investigate the potential of the selective CK2α inhibitor, 4,5,6,7-tetrabromobenzotriazole (TBBt), in the context of sepsis-induced AKI. To assess this, we initially confirmed an upregulation of CK2α expression following a cecum ligation and puncture (CLP) procedure in mice. Subsequently, TBBt was administered to a group of mice prior to CLP, and their outcomes were compared to those of sham mice. The results revealed that, following CLP, the mice exhibited typical sepsis-associated patterns of AKI, characterized by reduced renal function (evidenced by elevated blood urea nitrogen and creatinine levels), renal damage, and inflammation (indicated by increased tubular injury score, pro-inflammatory cytokine levels, and apoptosis index). However, mice treated with TBBt demonstrated fewer of these changes, and their renal function and architecture remained comparable to that of the sham mice. The anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic properties of TBBt are believed to be associated with the inactivation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) signaling pathways. In conclusion, these findings suggest that inhibiting CK2α could be a promising therapeutic strategy for treating sepsis-induced AKI.

Abstract
We compared neural activities and network properties between the antihistamine-induced seizures (AIS) and seizure-free groups, with the hypothesis that patients with AIS might have inherently increased neural activities and network properties that are easily synchronized. Resting-state electroencephalography (EEG) data were collected from 27 AIS patients and 30 healthy adults who had never had a seizure. Power spectral density analysis was used to compare neural activities in each localized region. Functional connectivity (FC) was measured using coherence, and graph theoretical analyses were performed to compare network properties between the groups. Machine learning algorithms were applied using measurements found to be different between the groups in the EEG analyses as input features. Compared with the seizure-free group, the AIS group showed a higher spectral power in the entire regions of the delta, theta, and beta bands, as well as in the frontal areas of the alpha band. The AIS group had a higher overall FC strength, as well as a shorter characteristic path length in the theta band and higher global efficiency, local efficiency, and clustering coefficient in the beta band than the seizure-free group. The Support Vector Machine, k-Nearest Neighbor, and Random Forest models distinguished the AIS group from the seizure-free group with a high accuracy of more than 99%. The AIS group had seizure susceptibility considering both regional neural activities and functional network properties. Our findings provide insights into the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms of AIS and may be useful for the differential diagnosis of new-onset seizures in the clinical setting.

Abstract
Green algae are natural bioresources that have excellent bioactive potential, partly due to sulfated polysaccharides (SPs) which are still rarely explored for their biological activities. There is currently an urgent need for studies exploring the anticancer biological activity of SPs extracted from two Indonesian ulvophyte green algae: the sulfated polysaccharide of Caulerpa racemosa (SPCr) and the sulfated polysaccharide of Caulerpa lentillifera (SPCl). The method of isolating SPs and their assessment of biological activities in this study were based on previous and similar studies. The highest yield sulfate/total sugar ratio was presented by SPCr than that of SPCl. Overall, SPCr exhibits a strong antioxidant activity, as indicated by smaller EC50 values obtained from a series of antioxidant activity assays compared to the EC50 values of Trolox (control). As an anti-obesity and antidiabetic, the overall EC50 value of both SPs was close to the EC50 of the positive control (orlistat and acarbose). Even more interesting was that SPCl displayed wide-ranging anticancer effects on colorectal, hepatoma, breast cancer cell lines, and leukemia. Finally, this study reveals new insights in that SPs from two Indonesian green algae have the potential to be promising nutraceuticals as novel antioxidative actors, and to be able to fight obesity, diabetes, and even cancer.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the relationship of energy and macronutrients with physical frailty in Korean older individuals who had a high proportion of energy intake from carbohydrates. METHODS This study included 954 adults aged 70 to 84 years and used baseline data from the Korean Frailty and Aging Cohort Study (KFACS) collected in 2016. The relationship between energy or macronutrients and frailty was evaluated using multivariable logistic regression models and multivariable nutrient density models. RESULTS A high carbohydrate intake was related to a higher prevalence of frailty (odds ratio [OR] = 2.01, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.03-3.93). In the participants who had low energy intake, replacement of 10% energy from fats with isocaloric carbohydrates was related to a higher prevalence of frailty (10%, OR = 1.59, 95% CI = 1.03-2.43). Regarding proteins, we found no evidence for a relationship between the replacement of the energy of carbohydrates or fats with isocaloric protein and the prevalence of frailty in older adults. CONCLUSIONS This study showed that the optimal proportion of energy intake from macronutrients may be an important nutritional intervention factor for reducing the risk of frailty among people who are likely to have low energy intake. Abstract
BACKGROUND This study investigated the association between quantitative and qualitative protein intake and grip strength (GS) in the South Korean population to explore nutritional management for the prevention of sarcopenia. METHODS This cross-sectional study was based on data from a nationally representative sample of the South Korean elderly population, consisting of 1,531 men and 1,983 women aged 65 years and older who participated in the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2016 to 2019. Low GS was defined as GS < 28 kg in men and GS < 18 kg in women. Protein intake was assessed using 1-day 24-h recall, and we analyzed absolute protein intake, protein intake by food source, and protein intake compared to dietary reference intake with per body weight or absolute daily recommended value. RESULTS The total and animal protein intake and protein intake from legumes, fish and shellfish were significantly lower in women with a low GS than in those with a normal GS. After adjusting for confounding factors, women who consumed more protein than the estimated average requirement (EAR, 40 g/day for women) were 0.528 times less likely to have low GS than women consuming less protein than the EAR (95% CI: 0.373-0.749), and consuming any amount of protein from legumes were 0.656 times less likely (95% CI: 0.500-0.860) to have low GS than women who did not consume any amount of legume protein. CONCLUSIONS This study provides epidemiological evidence that adequate protein intake above EAR and protein intake from legumes should be guided for preventing low GS, especially in elderly women.

Abstract
Various fields have been identified in the "omics" era, such as genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, phenomics, and metagenomics. Among these, metagenomics has enabled a significant increase in discoveries related to the microbial world. Newly discovered microbiomes in different ecologies provide meaningful information on the diversity and functions of microorganisms on the Earth. Therefore, the results of metagenomic studies have enabled new microbe-based applications in human health, agriculture, and the food industry, among others. This review summarizes the fundamental procedures on recent advances in bioinformatic tools. It also explores up-to-date applications of metagenomics in human health, food study, plant research, environmental sciences, and other fields. Finally, metagenomics is a powerful tool for studying the microbial world, and it still has numerous applications that are currently hidden and awaiting discovery. Therefore, this review also discusses the future perspectives of metagenomics.

Abstract
Some studies have shown that the heavy metal emissions (HMEs) emitted from diesel engines can seriously threaten human health. HMEs are mainly related to the content of heavy metal ions in diesel fuel. Therefore, in order to reduce HMEs from diesel engines, a nano-fiber membrane filtration technology for diesel fuel was investigated. Herein, coal fly ash (CFA) from coal-fired power plants combined with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was successfully fabricated into nano-fibrous membranes using green electrospinning technology. In order to evaluate the adsorption properties, various hybrid membranes with different mixing ratios (PVA/CFA = 10/0, 10/1, 10/3, 10/5, and 10/7 by weight) were fabricated. The results show that eight metal ions with different concentrations are found in the diesel fuel, including Pb, Cu, Zn, Al, Fe, Cr, Ba, and Ni. All PVA/FA membranes have different adsorption capacities for metal ions, following the order: Cu > Fe > Pb > Al > Zn > Cr > Ba > Ni. In addition, the adsorption capacity of CFA3 (PVA/CFA = 10/3) is the largest. The super lipophilicity of the PVA/FA membranes also provide more adsorption sites for the contact of HMs with the membranes. The above research results provide guidance for development of ultra-fine filters in the future.

Abstract
Myopia is one of the risk factors for glaucoma, making accurate diagnosis of glaucoma in myopic eyes particularly important. However, diagnosis of glaucoma in myopic eyes is challenging due to the frequent associations of distorted optic disc and distorted parapapillary and macular structures. Macular vertical scan has been suggested as a useful tool to detect glaucomatous retinal nerve fiber layer loss even in highly myopic eyes. The present study was performed to develop and validate a deep learning (DL) system to detect glaucoma in myopic eyes using macular vertical optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans and compare its diagnostic power with that of circumpapillary OCT scans. The study included a training set of 1416 eyes, a validation set of 471 eyes, a test set of 471 eyes, and an external test set of 249 eyes. The ability to diagnose glaucoma in eyes with large myopic parapapillary atrophy was greater with the vertical than the circumpapillary OCT scans, with areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves of 0.976 and 0.914, respectively. These findings suggest that DL artificial intelligence based on macular vertical scans may be a promising tool for diagnosis of glaucoma in myopic eyes.

Abstract
Amifampridine is a drug used for the treatment of Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS) and was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States (US) in 2018. It is mainly metabolized by N-acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2); however, investigations of NAT2-mediated drug interactions with amifampridine have rarely been reported. In this study, we investigated the effects of acetaminophen, a NAT2 inhibitor, on the pharmacokinetics of amifampridine using in vitro and in vivo systems. Acetaminophen strongly inhibits the formation of 3-N-acetylamifmapridine from amifampridine in the rat liver S9 fraction in a mixed inhibitory manner. When rats were pretreated with acetaminophen (100 mg/kg), the systemic exposure to amifampridine significantly increased and the ratio of the area under the plasma concentration-time curve for 3-N-acetylamifampridine to amifampridine (AUCm/AUCp) decreased, likely due to the inhibition of NAT2 by acetaminophen. The urinary excretion and the amount of amifampridine distributed to the tissues also increased after acetaminophen administration, whereas the renal clearance and tissue partition coefficient (Kp) values in most tissues remained unchanged. Collectively, co-administration of acetaminophen with amifampridine may lead to relevant drug interactions; thus, care should be taken during co-administration.

Abstract
DNA topoisomerases are important enzymes that stabilize DNA supercoiling and resolve entanglements. There are two main types of topoisomerases in all cells: type I, which causes single-stranded DNA breaks, and type II, which cuts double-stranded DNA. Topoisomerase activity is particularly increased in rapidly dividing cells, such as cancer cells. Topoisomerase inhibitors have been an effective chemotherapeutic option for the treatment of several cancers. In addition, combination cancer therapy with topoisomerase inhibitors may increase therapeutic efficacy and decrease resistance or side effects. Topoisomerase inhibitors are currently being used worldwide, including in the United States, and clinical trials on the combination of topoisomerase inhibitors with other drugs are currently underway. The primary objective of this review was to comprehensively analyze the current clinical landscape concerning the combined application of irinotecan, an extensively investigated type I topoisomerase inhibitor for colorectal cancer, and doxorubicin, an extensively researched type II topoisomerase inhibitor for breast cancer, while presenting a novel approach for cancer therapy.

Abstract
Glioblastoma (GBM) is an incurable primary brain tumor with a poor prognosis. Resection, radiation therapy, and temozolomide (TMZ) are insufficient to increase survival, making the treatment limited. Thus, the search for more effective and specific treatments is essential, making plants a promising source for elucidating new anti-glioblastoma compounds. Accordingly, this study investigated the effects of four fractions of hexane and ethyl acetate extract of Annona coriacea Mart., enriched with acetogenins, against GBM cell lines. All four fractions were selectively cytotoxic to GBM cells when compared to TMZ. Moreover, A. coriacea fractions delayed cell migration; reduced cytoplasmic projections, the metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2) activity; and induced morphological changes characteristic of necroptosis, possibly correlated with the increase in receptor-interacting protein kinase 1 and 3 (RIP-1 and RIP-3), apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF), and the non-activation of cleaved caspase 8. The present findings reinforce that fractions of A. coriacea Mart. should be considered for more studies focusing treatment of GBM.

Abstract
This paper presents a Q-learning-based pending zone adjustment for received signal strength indicator (RSSI)-based proximity classification (QPZA). QPZA aims to improve the accuracy of RSSI-based proximity classification by adaptively adjusting the size of the pending zone, taking into account changes in the surrounding environment. The pending zone refers to an area in which the previous result of proximity classification is maintained and is expressed as a near boundary and a far boundary. QPZA uses Q-learning to expand the size of the pending zone when the noise level increases and reduce it otherwise. Specifically, it calculates the noise level using the estimation error of a device deployed at a specific location. Then, QPZA adjusts the near boundary and far boundary separately by inputting the noise level into the near and far boundary adjusters, consisting of the Q-learning agent and reward calculator. The Q-learning agent determines the next boundary using the Q-table, and the reward calculator calculates the reward using the noise level. QPZA updates the Q-table of the Q-learning agent using the reward. To evaluate the performance of QPZA, we conducted an experimental implementation and compared the accuracy of QPZA with that of the existing approach. The results showed that QPZA achieves 11.69% higher accuracy compared to the existing approach, on average.

Abstract
The NLRP3 inflammasome is upregulated by various agents, such as nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB), lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and adenosine triphosphate (ATP). The NLRP3 inflammasome facilitations the maturation of interleukin (IL)-1β, a proinflammatory cytokine that is critically involved in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis (AD). Although the NLRP3 inflammasome clearly exacerbates AD symptoms such as erythema and pruritus, drugs for AD patients targeting the NLRP3 inflammasome are still lacking. Based on the previous findings that Mentha arvensis essential oil (MAEO) possesses strong anti-inflammatory and anti-AD properties through its inhibition of the ERK/NF-κB signaling pathway, we postulated that MAEO might be capable of modulating the NLRP3 inflammasome in AD. The aim of this research was to investigate whether MAEO affects the inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome activation in murine bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) stimulated with LPS + ATP in vitro and in a murine model displaying AD-like symptoms induced by 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) in vivo. We found that MAEO inhibited the expression of NLRP3 and caspase-1, leading to the suppression of NLRP3 inflammasome activation and IL-1β production in BMDMs stimulated with LPS + ATP. In addition, MAEO exhibited efficacy in ameliorating AD symptoms in a murine model induced by DNCB, as indicated by the reduction in dermatitis score, ear thickness, transepidermal water loss (TEWL), epidermal thickness, and immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels. Furthermore, MAEO attenuated the recruitment of NLRP3-expressing macrophages and NLRP3 inflammasome activation in murine dorsal skin lesions induced by DNCB. Overall, we provide evidence for the anti-AD effects of MAEO via inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome activation.

Abstract
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has caused an ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak and a rising demand for the development of accurate, timely, and cost-effective diagnostic tests for SARS-CoV-2 as well as other viral infections in general. Currently, traditional virus screening methods such as plate culturing and real-time PCR are considered the gold standard with accurate and sensitive results. However, these methods still require sophisticated equipment, trained personnel, and a long analysis time. Alternatively, with the integration of microfluidic and biosensor technologies, microfluidic-based biosensors offer the ability to perform sample preparation and simultaneous detection of many analyses in one platform. High sensitivity, accuracy, portability, low cost, high throughput, and real-time detection can be achieved using a single platform. This review presents recent advances in microfluidic-based biosensors from many works to demonstrate the advantages of merging the two technologies for sensing viruses. Different platforms for virus detection are classified into two main sections: immunoassays and molecular assays. Moreover, available commercial sensing tests are analyzed.
