Abstract
BACKGROUND In order to gain a deepened understanding of the impact of public health emergency and to develop effective interventions and preventions, this study aimed to evaluate risk and protective factors associated with anxiety in children and adolescents and to explore potential moderators in the background of COVID-19 within the framework of socio-ecological model. METHODS A literature search was conducted in Web of Science, MEDLINE, PubMed, Scopus, EBSCO, ScienceDirect, Emerald, and CNKI for studies published from early 2020 to early 2023 that examined factors associated with anxiety among children and adolescents with age range of 6 to 17 years old. Random effects models and a three-level meta-analytic approach were used. RESULTS In total, 141 articles and 1,018,171 subjects were included, with 1002 effect sizes extracted. 32 protective factors and 48 risk factors were examined, yielding significance for 14 protective factors and 29 risk factors, including individual factors (e.g., gender, logOR = -0.37, 95 % CI [-0.47, -0.27], p < 0.001; age, logOR = -0.12, 95 % CI [-0.22, -0.02], p = 0.02; emotional functioning, logOR = -1.45, 95 % CI [-1.84, -1.05], p < 0.001; pre-existing condition logOR = 0.94, 95 % CI [0.58, 1.30], p < 0.001; electronic device or internet addiction, logOR = 1.81, 95 % CI [0.74, 2.88], p < 0.001), family factors (e.g., family socioeconomic status, logOR = -0.25, 95 % CI [-0.39, -0.10], p < 0.001; family functioning, logOR = -1.31, 95 % CI [-1.60, -1.02], p < 0.001; anxiety level of caregiver, logOR = 1.06, 95 % CI [0.75, 1.37], p < 0.001), community factors (e.g., overall social support, logOR = -0.93, 95 % CI [-1.84, -1.05], p < 0.001; school burden, logOR = 0.56, 95 % CI [0.21, 0.90], p = 0.002), and COVID-19-related factors (e.g., higher exposure risk in local community or city, logOR = 0.48, 95 % CI [0.17, 0.78], p = 0.002; distant learning, logOR = 0.73, 95 % CI [0.19, 1.28], p = 0.008; COVID-19-related distress, logOR = 1.42, 95 % CI [0.55, 2.29], p = 0.001;). The majority of studies showed no publication bias. Age group moderated the relationship between gender and level of anxiety (F (1,96) = 4.42, p = 0.038), and no other moderator showed significance. LIMITATIONS This study does not reveal causality but correlation in nature, and our findings should be interpretated with caution. CONCLUSIONS Public health emergencies could bring challenges to the mental health of children and adolescents. Prevention and intervention strategies for children and adolescents with high risks, and family-based and community-based programs should be encouraged to buffer the adverse impact on children and adolescents. Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately affects certain vulnerable groups, including postpartum women. Thus, this work aimed to analyze the mental health evolution in Argentinian postpartum women during the first three waves of COVID-19 and its determinants. In this repeated cross-sectional study, data were collected during the three waves of COVID-19: May-July/2020 (n = 319), April-August/2021 (n = 340), and December/2021- March/2022 (n = 341). Postpartum depression, insomnia, and perceived stress symptoms were assessed using valid instruments. Statistical analyses included multivariate logistic regression, analysis of variance, and structural equation modeling to test for temporal trends in mental health indicators during the pandemic and to identify their determinants. The prevalence rates of postpartum depression and insomnia rose from 37% to 60% and 46% to 62%, respectively. In contrast, pandemic-related stress decreased. The following negative factors for maternal mental health were identified: unemployment status, lack of medical support, reduced family size, remote working, advanced maternal age, late postpartum, multiparity, and living in the least developed region of Argentina. Structural equation modeling confirmed a process of pandemic-stress adaptation, although there is a persistent increment of postpartum depression and consequent increased insomnia. Postpartum women's mental health worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although women have become more able to cope and perceive less pandemic-related stress, its social and economic impact still persists and puts them at higher psychological risk. Thus, health systems must seek protection of women of reproductive age against negative factors in order to cope with pandemic-related events.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pregnant women have multiple psychological distresses and are psychologically fragile. In Ethiopia due to COVID-19 anxiety, depression and stress among pregnant women were increased. This study aimed to provide comprehensive data on the prevalence and associated factors of common mental disorders during COVID-19 in Ethiopia. METHODS Data were searched from PubMed, Google Scholar, and African Journals Online from the December 2019 to August 2024. Two researchers extracted the data and accomplished the methodological quality valuation independently. Random-effect model used to estimate the pooled effect size and I2 and Q-statistic were used to check heterogeneity. Stata 14.0 (Stata Corp, College Station, Texas, USA) was used for statistical analysis. RESULTS Eleven studies were included. From 6 studies the pooled prevalence of anxiety was 47% (95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.37 to 0.57, I2 = 96.00%, P < .001). Five studies reported about depression and the pooled prevalence was 32% (95% CI = 0.22 to 0.42, I2 = 96.00%, P < .001). Four studies reported about stress and the pooled prevalence was 26% (95% CI = 0.21 to 0.32, I2 = 94.7%, P < .001). Moreover, the associated factors of anxiety, depression and stress are summarized systematically. CONCLUSION COVID-19 pandemic highly affects mental health of pregnant women in Ethiopia. Anxiety, depression and stress were most reported mental health problems during the pandemic. Appropriate psychological counseling programs should be applied for pregnant women to prevent mental health problems.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Hundreds of countries have implemented lockdown policies to slow the spread of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), but the impact of these measures on maternal mental health is not well understood. METHODS This study integrated a stress-process model to examine the pathways from lockdown-related stressors to prenatal psychological outcomes, with COVID-19 coping strategies (COP) and self-efficacy in managing negative affect (NEG) as mediators and lockdown duration, hours on pandemic-related information, and number of pregnancies as moderators. Pregnant women in Shanghai completed the Regulatory Emotional Self-Efficacy Scale, COVID-19 Coping Scale, Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test and modify the hypothetical model, and moderated mediation and slope analyses were undertaken. RESULTS In the final SEM demonstrating satisfactory fit, three stressors-decreased household income, insufficient daily supplies, and acquired infections-showed positive direct relationships with NEG and COP. Acquired infections, NEG, and COP were identified as direct predictors of mental health outcomes. The relationship between these three stressors and mental health was mediated by NEG and COP. Additionally, the number of pregnancies moderated the mediating effect of COP; this effect was more pronounced among first-time pregnant women than those with multiple pregnancies. CONCLUSION This study provides insights into how lockdown measures impact psychological outcomes in pregnant women quarantined at home. Interventions aimed at increasing coping strategies may be more effective for primiparous women during future public health emergencies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The microbiome is crucial for many physiological processes, including immunity, metabolism, and reproduction. AIMS This review aims to contribute to a detailed understanding of the microbiome of the genital tract, which can lead to better management of dysbiosis and reproductive disorders. METHODS Data from the four international information databases Medline, Scopus, Embase, and Google Scholar. The search strategy was based on the combination of the following terms: "microbiota," "microbiome," "microfilm," "microflora," "fertility," or "infertility." RESULT The advent of next-generation sequencing-based technologies during the last decade has revealed the presence of microbial communities in nearly every part of the human body, including the reproductive system. Several studies have shown significant differences between the microbiota of the vagina and endometrium, as well as other parts of the upper genital tract. DISCUSSION The human microbiome plays a critical role in determining a person's health state, and the microbiome of the genital tract may impact fertility potential before and after assisted reproductive treatments (ARTs). CONCLUSION To completely understand the role of the microbiome, future research should focus not only on the description of microbiota but also on the interaction between bacteria, the production of biofilms, and the interaction of microorganisms with human cells.

Abstract
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the epidemiological characteristics of depression among adults in the U.S. remains unclear. This study aims to analyze trends in depression prevalence over time and quantify the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on its prevalence. Using data from 2007 to 2023 provided by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES), this study examined 36,472 participants. Results revealed an increasing trend in depression prevalence among U.S. adults from 2007 to 2023. Notably, the overall weighted prevalence of depression following the COVID-19 pandemic (12.4%, 95% CI: 10.6-14.1%) was significantly higher than in all years prior to the pandemic. Subgroups such as females, Mexican Americans, and young adults experienced particularly pronounced increases. By analyzing data from two survey cycles close to the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak, the study identified a significant impact of the pandemic on depression prevalence, with an adjusted odds ratio of 1.58 (95% CI: 1.28-1.94). Individuals with lower socioeconomic status and those without pre-existing conditions exhibited greater increases in depression prevalence, whereas the emotional health of individuals who smoke appeared unaffected by the pandemic.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The prevalence of mental health problems among college students, both domestically and internationally, has emerged as a significant public health concern. College students are in a period of transition to independent living. Adopting a healthy lifestyle can have advantageous effects on their overall well-being. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the impact of healthy lifestyle choices on mental health problems among college students in China. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional online survey of college students from 2021 to 2023 at a university in Wuhan (N = 1826) using the cluster sampling method. We employed Chi-square tests and binary logistic regression to evaluate the association between healthy lifestyle choices and mental health and identify other influencing factors. RESULTS A total of 969 (53.1%) students met standard criteria for poor mental health. Multiple analysis revealed that personal characteristics including female (1.280[1.035-1.582]), obesity (2.015[1.278-3.175]), general or poor health status (1.738[1.380-2.188]; 4.265[1.125-16.165]), occasionally attending health knowledge lectures or paying attention to health books and information (1.376[1.055-1.795]), healthy lifestyle choices including occasionally or seldom eating breakfast (1.393[1.105-1.757]; 1.825[1.287-2.587]), occasionally or seldom getting enough sleep (2.800[2.179-3.597]; 3.544[2.209-5.685]), a poor or very poor irregular schedule (1.792[1.222-2.628]; 3.619[1.380-9.486]), seldom or no physical exercise (1.395[1.053-1.847]; 1.377[1.066-1.779]), and often smoking (3.320[1.281-8.604]) were identified as significant predictors of poor mental health. CONCLUSION The prevalence of poor mental health among college students was high. A few types of healthy lifestyles, such as a lack of health knowledge and physical exercise, seldom eating breakfast, not getting enough sleep, an irregular schedule, and chronic smoking were closely related to abnormal psychological health symptoms. Interventions such as health education knowledge lectures and regular exercise programs should be given to college students to improve their mental health.

Abstract
Background: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection has been associated with various hematological disorders. Understanding the pathology of erythrocytes (red blood cells) in coronavirus infection may provide insights into disease severity and progression. Objective: To review and analyze the general pathology of erythrocytes in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2, focusing on clinical and laboratory findings across different severity groups. Methods: Patients were classified into four groups based on clinical criteria: Group 1: Regular group (fever, respiratory symptoms, and radiographic evidence of pneumonia). Group 2: Severe group (shortness of breath >30 breaths/min, peripheral blood oxygen saturation <92% at rest, extensive pneumonia, respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation, and/or organ failure necessitating intensive care). Group 3: Low saturation group (peripheral blood oxygen saturation <85% at rest). Group 4: Erythroblastosis group (erythroblast count >0.5% among total nucleated blood cells). Clinical laboratory investigations included major routine studies and scanning microspectrophotometry to measure hemoglobin (Hb) spectra in unstained erythrocytes. Results: Erythroblasts were detected in approximately 30% of SARS-CoV-2 patients, predominantly in the severe group. Serum ferritin, C-reactive protein (CRP), and anisocytosis were strongly correlated with disease severity. Microspectrophotometric studies revealed significant changes in hemoglobin adsorption spectra, with an increase in Hb absorbance at 420 nm in severe cases compared to normal controls. Conclusions: Elevated serum ferritin, CRP levels, anisocytosis, and altered hemoglobin absorption at 420 nm wavelength are associated with adverse outcomes in SARS-CoV-2 infection. These findings highlight the potential utility of hematological parameters as markers for disease severity and prognosis in viral infections.

Abstract
Purpose In China, stringent and long-lasting infection control measures, which were called "dynamic zero-COVID policy", have significantly affected the mental health of college students, particularly concerning depressive and insomnia symptoms. This study aims to investigate how depressive and insomnia symptoms evolved among Chinese college students throughout the pandemic, including the beginning and end of the dynamic zero-COVID policy period. Patients and Methods We conducted a 2-years longitudinal survey involving 1102 college students, collecting data at three key time points. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, and insomnia symptoms were measured with the Youth Self-rating Insomnia Scale-8. Three contemporaneous symptom networks and two cross-lagged panel networks were constructed. Results In the current sample, the prevalence of clinically significant depressive symptoms was 6.1%, 8.9%, and 7.7% during the first, second, and third waves, respectively. The prevalence of clinically significant insomnia symptoms was 8.1%, 13.0%, and 14.1%. Over time, the severity of depressive and insomnia symptoms and network density increased, persisting at least one year after the pandemic and control measures ended. "Difficulty initiating sleep" bridged the two disorders, while "anhedonia" played a pivotal role in triggering and sustaining other symptoms. Conclusion This study underscores the lasting impact of the evolving zero-COVID policy on depressive and insomnia symptoms among college students, elucidating the underlying interaction mechanisms. There is a pressing need for a more comprehensive evaluation of the implementation of restrictive public policies, taking into account their potential long-term consequences.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the long-term impact of Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) on sleep patterns and the prevalence of sleep disorders and to increase public health awareness of long-term COVID-19. MATERIAL AND METHODS Using the Massachusetts General Brigham Research Patient Data Registry, Severe acute respiratory syndrome-Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) positive patients were surveyed about their sleep patterns before and after the viral infection. Information related to comorbid conditions and medications was obtained through chart review. RESULTS Two hundred and forty-six completed surveys were analyzed. Average age was 53.3±16.3 years, and they were predominantly non-hispanic white (84.1%) and female (74.3%). The mean body mass index (kg/m2) was 29.9±6.9, and a greater proportion were non-smokers (63.2%). After COVID-19, there was an increase in the percentage of participants reporting difficulty initiating (39±49% vs. 31±46% prior to COVID-19 infection P = 0.01). Similarly, the participants reported difficulty in maintaining sleep after COVID infection (57% vs. 43% prior to infection P < 0.001). Additionally, there was an increase in the use of sleep aids (30% vs. 24% before the infection P = 0.003). The participants also reported a decrease in feeling rested and an increase in the need for napping (58% vs. 36%, P < 0.0001) and (27% vs. 40%, P < 0.0001) respectively. The sleep symptoms persisted beyond 12 months in 28% of the participants. CONCLUSION SARS-CoV-2 infection had negative effects on sleep, and a significant proportion of adults experienced insomnia and daytime sleepiness beyond 12 months after recovering from the initial infection.

Abstract
Importance Amid escalating mental health challenges among young individuals, intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic, analyzing postpandemic trends is critical. Objective To examine mental health care utilization and prescription rates for children, adolescents, and young adults before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Design, Setting, and Participants This population-based time trend study used an interrupted time series analysis to examine mental health care and prescription patterns among the French population 25 years and younger. Aggregated data from the French national health insurance database from January 2016 to June 2023. Data were analyzed from September 2023 to February 2024. Main Outcomes and Measures The number of individuals with at least 1 outpatient psychiatric consultation, those admitted for full-time psychiatric hospitalization, those with a suicide attempt, and those receiving psychotropic medication was computed. Data were stratified by age groups and sex. Quasi-Poisson regression modeled deseasonalized data, estimating the relative risk (RR) and 95% CI for differences in slopes before and after the pandemic. Results This study included approximately 20 million individuals 25 years and younger (20 829 566 individuals in 2016 and 20 697 169 individuals in 2022). In 2016, the population consisted of 10 208 277 of 20 829 566 female participants (49.0%) and 6 091 959 (29.2%) aged 18 to 25 years. Proportions were similar in 2022. Significant increases in mental health care utilization were observed postpandemic compared with the prepandemic period, especially among females and young people aged 13 years and older. Outpatient psychiatric consultations increased among women (RR, 1.13; 95% CI, 1.07-1.20), individuals aged 13 to 17 years (RR, 1.15; 95% CI, 1.06-1.23), and individuals aged 18 to 25 years (RR, 1.08; 95% CI, 1.03-1.14). Hospitalizations for suicide attempt increased among women (RR, 1.14; 95% CI, 1.02-1.27) and individuals aged 18 to 25 years (RR, 1.07; 95% CI, 1.03-1.12). Regarding psychotropic medications, almost all classes, except hypnotics, increased in prescriptions between 2016 and 2022 for females, with a particularly marked rise in the postpandemic period. For men, only increases in the prescriptions of antidepressants (RR, 1.03; 95% CI, 1.01-1.06), methylphenidate (RR, 1.09; 95% CI, 1.06-1.12), and medications prescribed for alcohol use disorders (RR, 1.08; 95% CI, 1.04-1.13) were observed, and these increases were less pronounced than for women (antidepressant: RR, 1.13, 95% CI, 1.09-1.16; methylphenidate: RR, 1.15; 95% CI, 1.13-1.18; alcohol use dependence: RR, 1.12; 95% CI, 1.08-1.16). Medications reserved for severe mental health situations, such as lithium or clozapine, were prescribed more frequently starting at the age of 6 years. Conclusions and Relevance In this study, an interrupted time-series analysis found a marked deterioration in the mental health of young women in France in the after the COVID-19 pandemic, accentuating a trend of deterioration that was already observed in the prepandemic period.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Older adults are at an elevated risk of experiencing long COVID, with post-COVID-19 depressive symptoms being prevalent. However, the protective factors against this remain understudied. This study examined (a) the role of resilience in the association between COVID-19 infection and depressive symptoms in aging adults; (b) the moderating role of family functioning in the relationships between COVID-19 and resilience and between resilience and depressive symptoms; and (c) potential gender differences in the moderation. METHOD Data were drawn from the first wave of the Panel Study of Active Ageing and Society, a representative survey of Hong Kong adults aged 50 or above. Mediation and moderated mediation analyses were conducted. RESULTS Approximately 35% of the participants had tested positive for COVID-19. Resilience significantly mediated the association between COVID-19 infection and post-COVID-19 depressive symptoms (p < 0.001). Family functioning was a significant moderator: the COVID-19-resilience association was stronger, and the resilience-depressive symptoms association was weaker among participants with higher family functioning. The moderating role of family functioning was more salient in women than in men. CONCLUSION Resilience can protect aging adults from post-COVID-19 depressive symptoms. Interventions for enhancing family functioning may promote the formation of resilience, especially among older women.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pandemics can lead to mental health problems such as depression. This meta-analysis of meta-analyses aimed to estimate the precise prevalence of depression during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and Embase were searched for published meta-analyses using relevant keywords, such as depression, prevalence, COVID-19, and meta-analysis up to March 18, 2024 according to the PRISMA guidelines. Relevant journals as well as the search engine Google Scholar were manually searched to discover more articles. The AMSTAR tool was used for quality assessment. A random-effects model was used for the analysis. All analyses were conducted using the STATA 17 software. RESULTS Of 535 records, 82 meta-analyses were included. The results showed that the overall prevalence of depression was 30% [95% CI: 29-32] with a high heterogeneity (I2: 90.98%). The highest prevalence of depression according to population group was found in medical students (40% [30-49]), specific groups (40% [3-78]), and patients (36% [27-45]). The results of meta-regression based on the different times between the start of COVID-19 and the last date of search in the articles (week) and the prevalence of depression, showed that each past week of Covid-19 increases the prevalence of depression by almost 0.00021% [95% CI: -0.00025, 0.00068], P-value: 0.36, but "time" is not a significant predictor of an increase in depression. CONCLUSIONS The results showed that the prevalence of depression was high during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly among medical students. Policy makers should pay more attention to these groups and those who are at greater risk. Primary mental health interventions and policies are necessary to support the mental health of these individuals during the pandemic.

Abstract
Maladaptive forms of guilt, such as excessive self-blame, are common characteristics of anxiety and depressive disorders. The underlying network consists of multiple associative areas, including the superior anterior temporal lobe (sATL), underlying the conceptual representations of social meaning, and fronto-subcortical areas involved in the affective dimension of guilt. Nevertheless, despite understanding the circuitry's anatomy, network-level changes related to subclinical anxiety and self-blaming behaviour have not been depicted. To fill this gap, we used graph theory analyses on a resting-state functional and diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging dataset of 78 healthy adults (20 females, 20-35 years old). Within the guilt network, we found increased functional contributions of the left sATL for individuals with higher self-blaming, while functional isolation of the left pars opercularis and insula was related to higher trait anxiety. Trait anxiety was also linked to the structural network's mean clustering coefficient, with the circuitry's architecture favouring increased local information processing in individuals with increased anxiety levels, however, only when a highly specific subset of connections was considered. Previous research suggests that aberrant interactions between conceptual (sATL) and affective (fronto-limbic) regions underlie maladaptive guilt, and the current results align and expand on this theory by detailing network changes associated with self-blame and trait anxiety.

Abstract
Habitual daytime napping is a common behavioral and lifestyle practice in particular countries and is often considered part of a normal daily routine. However, recent evidence suggests that the health effects of habitual daytime napping are controversial. We systematically searched PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases from inception to March 9, 2024, to synthesize cohort studies of napping and health outcome risk. A total of 44 cohort studies with 1,864,274 subjects aged 20-86 years (mean age 56.4 years) were included. Overall, habitual napping increased the risk of several adverse health outcomes, including all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, and cancer, and decreased the risk of cognitive impairment and sarcopenia. Individuals with a napping duration of 30 min or longer exhibited a higher risk of all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic disease, whereas those with napping durations less than 30 min had no significant risks. No significant differences in napping and health risks were observed for napping frequency, percentage of nappers, sample size, sex, age, body mass index, follow-up years, or comorbidity status. These findings indicate that individuals with a long napping duration should consider shortening their daily nap duration to 30 min or less.

Abstract
Introduction While changes in the prevalence of depressive symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic have been described across populations, few studies have incorporated multidimensional variables to characterise the varying effects of the pandemic on the population's mental health. Methods This cohort study included 6423 participants aged ≥18 years from the Icelandic COVID-19 National Resilience Cohort. Data on depressive symptoms and pandemic-related and non-pandemic-related factors were obtained during three pandemic assessment periods (baseline, follow-up wave 1 and follow-up wave 2; April 2020-December 2021), while health outcomes were obtained during the post-pandemic assessment period (follow-up wave 3; September 2022-February 2023). We used latent growth mixture models to identify variation in depressive symptom trajectories during the pandemic. We then used XGBoost models with 37 pandemic-related and non-pandemic-related factors to characterise these trajectories. Moreover, we performed linear regression to assess the association between the identified trajectories and post-pandemic health outcomes. Results Of the included participants, we identified four depressive symptom trajectories, including consistently low (83.7%), consistently high (5.3%), initially high (5.1%) and late-onset high (5.9%) symptom trajectories. Individuals who exercised frequently (≥3 days/week) and enjoyed social and family support were more likely to experience a consistently low symptom trajectory. In contrast, individuals with a history of psychiatric disorders, women and young adults (18-39 years) were less likely to follow the consistently low symptom trajectory. Moreover, compared with the consistently low symptom trajectory, the other trajectories were associated with significantly higher levels of depressive, anxiety and somatic symptoms and cognitive problems during the post-pandemic period. Conclusions Our results underscore the long-lasting impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on population mental health. Interventions focusing on exercise, social support and family support may mitigate the adverse mental health effects of future pandemics.

Abstract
BACKGROUND & AIMS Post-acute COVID-19 syndrome (PACS) is associated with sleep disturbance, but treatment options are limited. The etiology of PACS may be secondary to alterations in the gut microbiome. Here, we report the efficacy of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) in alleviating post-COVID insomnia symptoms in a nonrandomized, open-label prospective interventional study. METHODS Between September 22, 2022, and May 22, 2023, we recruited 60 PACS patients with insomnia defined as Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) ≥8 and assigned them to the FMT group (FMT at weeks 0, 2, 4, and 8; n = 30) or the control group (n = 30). The primary outcome was clinical remission defined by an ISI of <8 at 12 weeks. Secondary outcomes included changes in the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 scale, Epworth Sleepiness Scale, Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory, blood cortisol and melatonin, and gut microbiome analysis on metagenomic sequencing. RESULTS At week 12, more patients in the FMT than the control group had insomnia remission (37.9% vs 10.0%; P = .018). The FMT group showed a decrease in ISI score (P < .0001), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (P < .0001), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 scale (P = .0019), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (P = .0057), and blood cortisol concentration (P = .035) from baseline to week 12, but there was no significant change in the control group. There was enrichment of bacteria such as Gemmiger formicilis and depletion of microbial pathways producing menaquinol derivatives after FMT. The gut microbiome profile resembled that of the donor in FMT responders but not in nonresponders at week 12. There was no serious adverse event. CONCLUSIONS This pilot study showed that FMT could be effective and safe in alleviating post-COVID insomnia, and further clinical trials are warranted. CLINICALTRIALS gov, Number: NCT05556733.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/PURPOSE Depressive and anxiety symptoms were common among lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic. This 4-year follow-up study was conducted to investigate the predictors of depressive and anxiety symptoms in Taiwan's young adult LGB population. METHODS Baseline data, including depressive and anxiety symptoms, demographic characteristics, sexual stigma, self-identity confusion, and family support were collected from 1000 LGB individuals. The participants' depressive and anxiety symptoms were reassessed 4 years after the baseline measurements. The predictive effects of the baseline factors on depressive and anxiety symptoms at follow-up were examined through linear regression analysis. RESULTS Greater lack of identity, unconsolidated identity, sexual orientation microaggression, and lower perceived family function at baseline were significantly associated with more severe depressive and anxiety symptoms at follow-up. After adjustment for baseline depressive symptoms, being men, greater lack of identity, lower perceived family function, and more severe anxiety symptoms at baseline were significantly associated with more severe depressive symptoms at follow-up. After adjustment for baseline anxiety symptoms, greater unconsolidated identity and more severe depressive symptoms at baseline were significantly associated with more severe anxiety symptoms at follow-up. CONCLUSIONS Intervention aimed at reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms in LGB individuals should be developed considering the predictors identified in this study.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study examined the mediating effect of negative changes in daily life due to the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on depressive symptoms, considering COVID-19 infection and related social concerns. Additionally, comparisons of path coefficients between the groups were conducted based on age and gender. METHODS A cross-sectional study design used data from the 2020 Korean Community Health Survey consisting of 229,269 individuals. This study used a self-reported questionnaire, including the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 and three items addressing social concerns related to COVID-19 infection. A single question assessed whether individuals had experienced COVID-19 infection within the last 3 months, and scores of negative changes in daily life due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Correlation analysis was performed on the variables. Structural equation model analysis was conducted to identify the mediating role of negative changes in daily life. Chi-square tests were also performed to compare the path coefficients based on age and gender. RESULTS The structural equation models revealed that COVID-19 infection and related social concerns had both significant direct effects on depressive symptoms and indirect effects through negative changes in daily life. When comparing the path coefficients by age and gender, the coefficients related to depressive symptoms were highest in those under 65 years and in females. CONCLUSION Negative changes in daily life due to the COVID-19 pandemic serve as a partial mediator of the impact of COVID-19 infection and related social concerns on depressive symptoms. Special attention should be paid to depressive symptoms in those under 65 years of age and in females.

Abstract
The escalating global prevalence of depression demands effective therapeutic strategies, with psychobiotics emerging as a promising solution. However, the molecular mechanisms governing the neurobehavioral impact of psychobiotics remain elusive. This study reveals a significant reduction in hippocampal indole-3-lactic acid (ILA) levels in depressed mice, which is ameliorated by the psychobiotic Bifidobacterium breve. In both human subjects and mice, the ILA increase in the circulatory system results from bifidobacteria supplementation. Further investigation identifies the key aromatic lactate dehydrogenase (Aldh) gene and pathway in bifidobacteria responsible for ILA production. Importantly, the antidepressant effects are nullified in the Aldh mutants compared to the wild-type strain. At the bifidobacteria species level, those with Aldh exhibit heightened antidepressant effects. Finally, this study emphasizes the antidepressant efficacy of psychobiotic-derived ILA, potentially mediated by aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) signaling activation to alleviate neuroinflammation. This study unveils the molecular and genetic foundations of psychobiotics' antidepressant effects, offering insights for microbial therapies targeting mood disorders.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The objective of this investigation was to compile existing observational research and quantify the potential association between ultra-processed foods (UPFs) and the risk of insomnia using meta-analysis. SETTING We conducted a systematic search of the PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, and ISI Web of Science databases with no restrictions until 29 June 2024. Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were aggregated using a random-effects model, while the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale and Egger's regression asymmetry test assessed study quality and publication bias, respectively. RESULTS Analysis of data from seven studies showed a significant positive association between higher intake of UPFs and an increased risk of insomnia (OR = 1.53; 95% CI: 1.20, 1.95; I2 = 62.3%; p = 0.014). Subgroup analysis indicated this positive relationship was particularly strong under the NOVA food classification (OR = 1.57; 95% CI: 1.03, 2.40; I2 = 78.5%; p = 0.009; n = 3) and with snack intake (OR = 1.33; 95% CI: 1.04, 1.71; I2 = 0.0%; p < 0.001; n = 2), compared to adherence to Western dietary patterns. Moreover, subgroup analysis based on age group showed that higher UPF intake was significantly associated with increased risk of insomnia among adolescents (OR = 1.55; 95% CI: 1.21, 1.99; I2 = 57.4%; p < 0.001) but not in adults. CONCLUSIONS Our findings underscore a significant association between higher consumption of UPFs and increased risk of insomnia, particularly among adolescents. Further research is necessary to explore the intricacies of this association and to ensure the generalizability of these results.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pandemics such as COVID-19, can lead to psychiatric symptoms like anxiety. It seems that meta-analysis of meta-analysis studies can provide more comprehensive information regarding the needs for post-COVID-19 services. Therefore, this umbrella review and meta-analysis of meta-analyses aimed to estimate the precise prevalence of anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched for published meta-analyses using relevant keywords, such as Anxiety, Prevalence, COVID-19, and Meta-analysis up to November 1, 2023. Google Scholar, reference check, citation check, and grey literature were manually searched. A random-effect model was used for the analysis. All analyses were conducted using STATA: 17. RESULTS Out of the 4263 records, Finally, 75 meta-analyses were included. The overall prevalence of anxiety was 30.4% [95% CI: 29-31.8] with a high heterogeneity (I2: 86.76%). The highest prevalence of anxiety according to population type was 41.3% in patients and then in students (30.8), pregnant women (30.6%), and health care workers (30.5%). The Result of meta-regression showed that "Time" (based on the time between the start of COVID-19 and the last search date in articles) was not a significant predictor of the prevalence of anxiety (R Coefficient = 0.000149, P = 0.61). CONCLUSIONS Considering the prevalence of anxiety among patients, students, pregnant women, and healthcare workers, special attention should be paid to these groups in case of the re-occurrence of COVID-19 or occurrence of other pandemics. As quarantine due to pandemics causes reduced social interactions, reduced income, and increased worry about severe illness and death, there is a need for large-scale mobilization of political measures.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Depression is a chronic psychiatric disease of multifactorial etiology, and its pathophysiology is not fully understood. Stress and other chronic inflammatory pathologies are shared risk factors for psychiatric diseases, and comorbidities are features of major depression. Epidemiological evidence suggests that periodontitis, as a source of low-grade chronic systemic inflammation, may be associated with depression, but the underlying mechanisms are not well understood. METHODS Periodontitis (P) was induced in Wistar: Han rats through oral gavage with the pathogenic bacteria Porphyromonas gingivalis and Fusobacterium nucleatum for 12 weeks, followed by 3 weeks of chronic mild stress (CMS) to induce depressive-like behavior. The following four groups were established (n = 12 rats/group): periodontitis and CMS (P + CMS+), periodontitis without CMS, CMS without periodontitis, and control. The morphology and inflammatory phenotype of microglia in the frontal cortex (FC) were studied using immunofluorescence and bioinformatics tools. The endocannabinoid (EC) signaling and proteins related to synaptic plasticity were analyzed in FC samples using biochemical and immunohistochemical techniques. RESULTS Ultrastructural and fractal analyses of FC revealed a significant increase in the complexity and heterogeneity of Iba1 + parenchymal microglia in the combined experimental model (P + CMS+) and increased expression of the proinflammatory marker inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), while there were no changes in the expression of cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2). In the FC protein extracts of the P + CMS + animals, there was a decrease in the levels of the EC metabolic enzymes N-acyl phosphatidylethanolamine-specific phospholipase D (NAPE-PLD), diacylglycerol lipase (DAGL), and monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) compared to those in the controls, which extended to protein expression in neurons and in FC extracts of cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and to the intracellular signaling molecules phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K), protein kinase B (Akt) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2). The protein levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and synaptophysin were also lower in P + CMS + animals than in controls. CONCLUSIONS The combined effects on microglial morphology and inflammatory phenotype, the EC signaling, and proteins related to synaptic plasticity in P + CMS + animals may represent relevant mechanisms explaining the association between periodontitis and depression. These findings highlight potential therapeutic targets that warrant further investigation.

Abstract
The rapid emergence and widespread transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) have prompted governments worldwide to enact policies and measures to manage the virus's spread. These interventions have substantially contributed to controlling disease transmission. However, they have also significantly disrupted daily life, leading to increased public fatigue and resistance to sustained control measures, a phenomenon known as pandemic fatigue. To develop a comprehensive understanding of pandemic fatigue, this review systematically explores the concept and identifies quantitative indicators for measuring it. We reviewed studies on pandemic fatigue across various countries, summarized the contributing factors, and analyzed its impact on personal protective behaviors. Our findings indicate that the enforcement of health measures significantly influences the onset of pandemic fatigue, while individual perceptions of risk can negatively affect personal protective behaviors, creating a feedback loop with increasing fatigue. These results underscore the importance of considering the current severity of the pandemic and individual decision-making processes in the implementation of interventions. Enhancing our understanding of pandemic fatigue is essential for developing effective policy responses in preparation for future potential epidemics.

Abstract
Introduction This study examined the prevalence and correlates of probable mental health disorders, including psychological distress, somatization, depression, anxiety, phobic anxiety (PHO), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and insomnia among Chinese primary health care (PHC) physicians and nurses amid the post-pandemic period in 2022. Method Region-stratified sampling was conducted to recruit a national sample of 4,246 respondents from 31 July 2022 to 12 August 2022. A total of 692 primary healthcare institutions were identified in 30 provincial-level administrative regions of China. An online questionnaire was used for assessing probable mental health disorders using Symptoms Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R) and PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5), and sleeping problems using Insomnia Severity Index (ISI). Data on demographics and work were also collected. Bivariate analysis and multiple logistic regression were conducted to identify significant correlates of probable mental health disorders. Results A total of 4,246 valid questionnaires were identified. Results showed that relative to the prevalence of probable mental health disorders among health care workers at the early stage of the pandemic in China, there was an overall decreased prevalence except for somatization, PHO, and OCD among the current PHC physicians and nurses. Multiple logistic regressions showed that significant risk factors of common probable mental health disorders, namely psychological distress, SOM, DEP, ANX, PHO, OCD, PTSD, and insomnia, were female gender, multimorbidity, history of psychiatric disorders, quarantine experience, never asking anyone for help, and overtime work. Conclusion Attention should be given to preexisting psychiatric and multimorbid conditions, social support, and work-related stressors. Regular assessment and psychological interventions are needed to enhance the mental health of PHC professionals even after public health crisis.

Abstract
Background The COVID-19 pandemic has caused profound changes in adolescent lives, including school closures, social isolation, family economic hardship, and sleep schedule. We aimed to assess the risk and protective factors of sufficient sleep among adolescents during COVID-19. Methods We conducted secondary analysis based on the cross-sectional school-based Adolescent Behaviors and Experiences Survey in 2021 (n = 7,705). The ABES collected information on health-related experiences and behaviors during COVID-19. The outcome was sufficient sleep (eight and more hours of sleep on the average school night). The contributing factors included demographic, mental health, and adverse experiences indicators. We estimated the prevalence of sufficient sleep within each factor, and examined their associations using Chi-square test. We further investigated the contributing factors of sufficient sleep using multivariate logistic regression and reported the adjusted odds ratios (AORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results During January-June 2021, 23.5% of the U.S. high school students reported getting sufficient sleep. The multivariate logistic regression indicated that younger age (AOR, 2.04; 95%CI, 1.59-2.62), heterosexual identity (AOR, 1.61; 95%CI, 1.19-2.18), no poor mental health during the past 30 days (AOR, 1.37; 95%CI, 1.03-1.82), no persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness (AOR, 1.34; 95%CI, 1.09-1.66), no food and nutrition insecurity (AOR, 1.47; 95%CI, 1.17-1.85), never been abused by a parent emotionally (AOR, 1.38; 95%CI, 1.16-1.64), and no schoolwork difficulty (AOR, 1.24; 95%CI, 1.01-1.51) were associated with sufficient sleep. Conclusion We estimated the national prevalence of adolescent sufficient sleep during the COVID-19 pandemic and found that younger students, sexual heterosexual students, and students without certain mental health conditions or adverse experiences are at higher likelihood of sufficient sleep. These findings can help develop effective interventions on sleep duration in the response to a possible future pandemic caused by Disease X.

Abstract
The concept of a healthy lifestyle is receiving increasing attention. This study sought to identify an optimal healthy lifestyle profile associated with sleep health in general population of China. An online cross-sectional survey was conducted from June to July 2022. Six healthy lifestyle factors were assessed: healthy diet, regular physical exercise, never smoking, never drinking alcohol, low sedentary behavior, and normal weight. Participants were categorized into the healthy lifestyle (5-6 factors), average (3-4 factors), and unhealthy lifestyle groups (0-2 factors). The study's primary outcome was sleep health, which included sleep quality, duration, pattern, and the presence of any sleep disorder or disturbance, including insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness, obstructive apnea syndrome, and narcolepsy. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was applied to explore lifestyles associated with the selected sleep health outcomes. 41,061 individuals were included, forming 18.8% healthy, 63.8% average, and 17.4% unhealthy lifestyle groups. After adjusting for covariates, participants with healthy lifestyle were associated with a higher likelihood of good sleep quality (OR = 1.56, 95% CI = 1.46-1.68), normal sleep duration (OR = 1.60, 95% CI = 1.49-1.72), healthy sleep pattern (OR = 2.15, 95% CI = 2.00-2.31), and lower risks of insomnia (OR = 0.66, 95% CI = 0.61-0.71), excessive daytime sleepiness (OR = 0.66, 95% CI = 0.60-0.73), and obstructive apnea syndrome (OR = 0.40, 95% CI = 0.37-0.43), but not narcolepsy (OR = 0.92, 95% CI = 0.83-1.03), compared to those with unhealthy lifestyle. This large cross-sectional study is the first to our knowledge to quantify the associations of a healthy lifestyle with specific aspects of sleep health. The findings offer support for efforts to improve sleep health by modulating lifestyle.

Abstract
The complex connection between some infectious illnesses and some psychiatric disorders is an important area of study, with infections known to cause a diverse range of psychiatric symptoms. This association poses significant challenges for physicians in differentiating between mental illnesses induced by infections and those stemming from underlying psychiatric conditions. This study systematically synthesizes literature from various databases that explain the relationship between certain infectious diseases and specific psychiatric disorders. The systematic review explores mechanisms such as neuroinflammation, direct central nervous system (CNS) infection, and the interaction between the immune system and psychiatric conditions. The study examines various infectious pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, parasites, prion diseases, and fungi. An analysis of these findings is presented in the study's discussion section, along with a review of therapeutic methods such as drug use and psychological treatment. The review emphasizes the need for multidisciplinary teamwork and thorough clinical examinations in managing psychiatric symptoms caused by infections. It also highlights the significant role of public health measures in mitigating the impact of psychiatric diseases related to infectious illnesses. The study finds that current therapeutic methods include pharmacological and psychological treatments, which can effectively manage these conditions. The study has concluded that psychiatric manifestations are prevalent across various infectious diseases, including those caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi. Key mechanisms identified include neuroinflammation, direct infection of the CNS, and the immuno-psychiatric interface, all of which contribute to the development of psychiatric symptoms. The future of managing these complex conditions lies in a comprehensive approach that combines clinical, therapeutic, and public health strategies.

Abstract
Objective The Outcomes - Short and Long term in ICU patient with COVID-19 "OUTSTRIP COVID-19" study was initiated to assess overall mortality, physical and psychiatric co-morbidities, reduction in lung function, and the ability to return to work post-ICU discharge with a follow-up period of 2 years in COVID-19 patients admitted to ICUs in Qatar. This paper focuses on the prevalence of cognitive impairment, depression, anxiety, and stress at baseline and 3 months after ICU discharge. Methods This prospective cohort study included 100 ICU survivors reviewed at baseline within 7 weeks of ICU discharge, with a 3-month follow-up. Demographics, clinical characteristics, and relevant medical history were collected at baseline. Cognitive outcomes were assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment-Basic (MoCA-B) tool, while psychological outcomes were evaluated using the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21). Results At baseline, 72% of ICU survivors exhibited mild cognitive impairment, which significantly improved to 56% at 3 months. However, severe cognitive impairment persisted in 20% of survivors at 3 months.For psychological outcomes, the mean depression score remained below 9 (5.64 ± 6.90) at both time points, with no significant change. At baseline, 25% of survivors had clinical depression, which reduced to 16% at 3 months.The mean anxiety score at baseline (9.35 ± 8.50) significantly decreased to 6.51 ± 7.74 (p = 0.002) at 3 months. Anxiety was not reported by 48% of survivors at baseline and this increased to 66% at 3 months. Severe to extremely severe anxiety decreased from 19% to 12% during the same period.The mean stress score at baseline (8.34 ± 8.07) did not significantly change at 3 months. At baseline, 18% experienced stress, which decreased to 12% at 3 months, with 5.3% facing severe to extremely severe stress. Conclusion COVID-19 ICU survivors experience significant cognitive impairment, anxiety, and stress. While cognitive impairment and anxiety showed improvements at 3 months, depression and stress remained unchanged. These outcomes strongly emphasize the requirement for thorough post-ICU care and comprehensive mental health assistance for individuals recovering from COVID-19. Customized interventions and additional research endeavors are crucial to effectively manage the cognitive and psychological consequences faced by these patients. The exploration of telemonitoring and innovative approaches can offer avenues to enhance the overall quality of life for survivors. Further investigation should encompass extended timeframes to analyze prolonged effects and consider the broader socioeconomic impact.

Abstract
The long-term mental health consequences of COVID-19 in children and adolescents remain unclear. We investigated the impact of COVID-19 infection on mental health after China's zero-COVID policy relaxation, focusing on symptom-specific and social-family risk factors for mental health issues in children and adolescents. In a longitudinal study, 8348 youths (aged 10-18) were assessed twice (T1: September to October 2022 and T2: April to May 2023). Mental health changes (Δ=T1-T2) were compared between COVID-19-infected (COVID+, n = 4108) and non-infected (COVID-, n = 4240). After balancing social-family confounding factors at T1 with propensity score-based inverse probability weights, multivariable logistic regression was employed to assess associations between COVID-19 infection and the onset/worsening of mental health symptoms. Multivariable logistic regression was conducted to explore specific acute COVID-19 symptoms and social-family risk factors associated with the onset/worsening of mental health symptoms in COVID + group. Compared to COVID- group, COVID + group exhibited lower overall mental health improvement (Δ). COVID + group was associated with increased risks of depression worsening (OR 1.20, 95 % CI 1.04-1.39), anxiety worsening (OR 1.30, 95 % CI 1.15-1.47), stress worsening (OR 1.23, 95 % CI 1.03-1.46), insomnia worsening (OR 1.21, 95 % CI 1.05-1.39), and emotional symptoms worsening (OR 1.72, 95 % CI 1.27-2.33). Moderate-to-severe difficulty thinking, breathlessness, and gastrointestinal symptoms were specific COVID-19 symptoms associated with worsening of various mental health outcomes. Furthermore, academic difficulties, economic disadvantages, family conflicts, food addiction, and alcohol consumption were identified as social-family risk factors for worsening mental health symptoms in COVID + youths. COVID-19 infection leaves lasting mental health scars in youths, extending beyond the acute phase. Specific symptoms, particularly cognitive dysfunction and respiratory/gastrointestinal distress play a significant role in this vulnerability. Social-family factors further modulate these effects, highlighting the need for comprehensive interventions that address both biological and psychosocial aspects. This study provides valuable insights for tailoring mental health support to youths navigating the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract
We investigated the longitudinal association between physical activity (PA) and symptoms of depression and anxiety in people with depression during the COVID-19 pandemic. We used data from baseline (June 2020) to wave 3 (June 2021) of the PAMPA Cohort, an ambispective cohort with adults in south Brazil. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale assessed depressive and anxiety symptoms in all waves. Participants reported frequency (minutes), type (aerobic, strength, combined), and place (out of home, at home) of physical activity at baseline. Generalized linear models were used to investigate the interaction between time and PA, adjusting for possible confounding variables. Subjective memory decline was assessed using multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression models to obtain adjusted hazard ratio (HR) and respective 95% confidence interval (CI). Participants (n = 424) with self-reported clinically diagnosed depression were included. We observed a non-linear increase trajectory of depression during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. PA was associated with a slower trajectory of depressive (slope: -1.89; 95%CI: -3.34, -0.43 points) but not anxiety (slope: -1.33; 95%CI: -2.93, 0.25 points) symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants who continued physically active from pre-pandemic in wave 1 showed a lower risk of subjective memory decline during follow-up than those who persisted inactive in the same period (HR: 0.52; 95%CI: 0.30, 0.89). PA attenuated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on depressive symptoms in adults living with depression in south Brazil. Regularity of physical activity was associated with fewer depression and anxiety symptoms and a lower risk of subjective memory decline.

Abstract
Introduction The online study investigated the sleep, psychological conditions, and risk factors during the wave of transmission of COVID-19 since December 7, 2022. Methods We distributed questionnaires through networking mediums to residents to gather information about COVID-19 infection, sleep, and mental status. Results During the extraordinary period in China, 91.9% of 1094 participants claimed to be infected with COVID-19, 36.8% reported poor sleep quality, 75.9% reported anxiety, and 65.5% reported depression. In retrospect, people have experienced lower sleep quality, longer sleep latency, enhanced rising time, and decreased sleep efficiency after the infection wave. After adjusting confounding factors, the elderly, women, urban residents, people with comorbidity, anxiety, depression, stress state, and COVID-19 infection have high risks for sleep disorders during the period. Discussion The survey indicates that sleep disturbance caused by COVID-19 involves multiple dimensions, such as physiology, psychology, and society. The COVID-19 infection-related sleep problem should be taken seriously. Apart from conventional treatment, psychological issues of insomnia can not be ignored.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sleep and stress interact bidirectionally by acting on brain circuits that affect metabolism. Sleep and its alterations have impact on blood leptin levels, metabolic hormone that regulates appetite. Brain expresses the receptors for the peptide hormone leptin produced from adipocytes. The hypothalamic orexin neurons are low during sleep and active when awake, influenced by a complex interaction with leptin. Thymoquinone was found to be the major bioactive component of Nigella sativa. The aim of this study was to study the role of thymoquinone on sleep restriction and its mitigating effect on leptin-mediated signaling pathway in rat brain. METHODS AND RESULTS 30 adult male Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups with 6 animals in each group: Control; Thymoquinone (TQ); Corn oil; Chronic Sleep restriction (CSR); and CSR + TQ. After 30 days, behavioral analysis, antioxidant, lipid profile, glucose level, liver and kidney function test, neurotransmitters, neuropeptides, and mRNA expression in in vivo studies were also assessed and pharmacokinetic and docking were done for thymoquinone. Thymoquinone has also shown good binding affinity to the target proteins. CSR has induced oxidative stress in the discrete brain regions and plasma. Current study has shown many evidences that sleep restriction has altered the neurobehavioral, antioxidant status, lipid profile, neurotransmitters, neuropeptide levels, and feeding behavior which damage the Orexin-leptin system which regulates the sleep and feeding that leads to metabolic dysfunction. CONCLUSION The potentiality of Thymoquinone was revealed in in silico studies, and its action in in vivo studies has proved its effectiveness. The study concludes that Thymoquinone has exhibited its effect by diminishing the metabolic dysfunction by its neuroprotective, antioxidant, and hypolipidemic properties.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Academic procrastination is common among college students, which affects their learning status and even their physical and mental health. Rumination, psychological capital, and academic procrastination are closely related, but for nursing students, there are few studies reporting on their levels and relationships. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the levels of rumination, psychological capital, and academic procrastination among nursing students, and examine the mediating role of psychological capital in rumination and academic procrastination. DESIGN A cross-sectional study. SETTING The study sampled three medical colleges in Sichuan Province, China. PARTICIPANTS A convenience sampling method was used to select 556 nursing students from April to June 2023. METHODS 556 nursing students were asked to complete questionnaires regarding social-demographic information, rumination, psychological capital, and academic procrastination. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis and structural equation model were used in this study. RESULTS The scores of rumination, psychological capital, and academic procrastination among nursing students were 46.08 ± 13.61, 108.28 ± 19.50 and 55.32 ± 12.30, respectively. Additionally, structural equation modeling showed that psychological capital mediated the relationship between rumination and academic procrastination with the partial mediating effect of 0.425. CONCLUSION Our results suggest that nursing students exhibit moderate levels of rumination, psychological capital and academic procrastination. Moreover, rumination can not only directly affect academic procrastination, but also indirectly through psychological capital. Nursing educators should strengthen their attention to the mental health and learning status of nursing students, take measures to help them adapt to campus life, alleviate rumination, enrich psychological capital, and reduce the risk of academic procrastination.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic posed an unprecedented challenge to public well-being, necessitating an examination of its health impact. This review discusses the relationship between pandemic-induced stressors and individual sleep patterns and quality. The pandemic stressors include lockdown or physical distancing measures, direct virus exposure, and the dissemination of misinformation and disinformation. The pandemic led to delayed sleep-wake cycles, except for healthcare professionals, and worsened sleep quality. The prevalence of insomnia was higher for women due to pre-existing conditions and susceptibility stressors such as lockdown stress and family responsibilities. Healthcare professionals, who experienced worsened work conditions during the pandemic, reported higher rates of insomnia and sleep difficulties due to infection anxiety and post-traumatic stress from direct virus exposure. For the general population, stress stemmed from social isolation under lockdown and overwhelming false information available online, resulting in sleep problems. Taken together, the findings highlight the importance of promoting social interactions, providing psychological support services, and caution in navigating health information. In summary, this review underscores the need for individual- and group-centered approaches in ongoing research and interventions to address pandemic-related stress and sleep issues during COVID-19.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The COVID-19 outbreak might have had several effects on older adults; however, much of the previous research only included self-report, cross-sectional, and online-survey data in the early stage of the pandemic. We conducted a face-to-face survey before and after the COVID-19 pandemic and investigated the influence of the pandemic on several functions to distinguish between changes due to aging and changes due to the pandemic using a linear mixed model. METHODS A total of 8 longitudinal surveys were conducted from 2016 to 2022. Physical function was assessed by weight, body mass index, body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass index, calf circumference, grip strength, knee extension strength, the 5-times chair stand test, the timed up & go test and 5-m walking test. Functional capacity was measured using the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology index of competence, cognitive function was measured using the Trail Making Test - A, and mental health was measured using the Geriatric Depression Scale. RESULTS Of a total of 73 participants, 51 (69.9%) were female. The mean age at first participation was 71.82 years (SD = 4.64). The results of the linear mixed model showed that lower-limb muscle strength and body fat percentage and cognitive function changed significantly before and after the pandemic, while grip strength, functional capacity, and mental health did not. CONCLUSIONS The changes in these functions between before and after the pandemic might be attributed to the diminished opportunities for the independent older individuals to go out and engage in activities. Although functional capacity did not change, lower-limb muscle strength is important for functional independence. This decline might influence the functional capacity of these individuals in the future.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate dry eye disease (DED) symptomatology and mental health status in different COVID-19 patients. METHODS A cross-sectional observational design was used. Totally 123 eligible adults (46.34% of men, age range, 18-59y) with COVID-19 included in the study from August to November, 2022. Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI), Five-item Dry Eye Questionnaire (DEQ-5), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were used in this study. RESULTS OSDI scores were 6.82 (1.25, 15.91) in asymptomatic carriers, 7.35 (2.50, 18.38) in mild cases, and 16.67 (4.43, 28.04) in recurrent cases, with 30.00%, 35.56%, and 57.89%, respectively evaluated as having DED symptoms (χ2=7.049, P=0.029). DEQ-5 score varied from 2.00 (0, 6.00) in asymptomatic carriers, 3.00 (0, 8.00) in mild cases, and 8.00 (5.00, 10.00) in recurrent cases, with 27.50%, 33.33%, and 55.26%, respectively assessed as having DED symptoms (χ2=8.532, P=0.014). The prevalence of clinical anxiety (50.00%) and depression (47.37%) symptoms were also significantly higher in patients with recurrent infection (χ2=24.541, P<0.001; χ2=30.871, P<0.001). Recurrent infection was a risk factor for high OSDI scores [odds ratio, 2.562; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.631-7.979; P=0.033] and DEQ-5 scores (odds ratio, 3.353; 95%CI, 1.038-8.834; P=0.043), whereas having a fixed occupation was a protective factor for OSDI scores (odds ratio, 0.088; 95%CI, 0.022-0.360; P=0.001) and DEQ-5 scores (odds ratio, 0.126; 95%CI, 0.039-0.405; P=0.001). CONCLUSION Patients with recurrent COVID-19 have more severe symptoms of DED, anxiety, and depression.

Abstract
PURPOSE Mental health is shaped by social and economic contexts, which were altered during the COVID-19 pandemic. No study has systematically reviewed the literature on the relation between different assets and depression during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS We conducted a systematic review of the literature on financial (e.g. income/savings), physical (e.g., home ownership), and social (e.g., marital status, educational attainment) assets and depression in U.S. adults. For each asset type, we created binary comparisons to report on the direction of the relationship and described if each study reported insignificant, positive, negative, or mixed associations. RESULTS Among the 41 articles identified, we found that income was the most studied asset (n=34), followed by education (n=25), marital status (n=18), home ownership (n=5), and savings (n=4). 88%, 100%, and 100% of articles reported a significant association of higher income, home ownership, and higher savings, respectively, with less depression. The association between marital status and education with depression was more nuanced: 72% (13 of 18) studies showed that unmarried persons had greater risk of depression than married or cohabitating persons and 52% (13 of 25) of studies reported no significant difference in depression across educational groups. CONCLUSION This work adds to the literature a deeper understanding of how different assets relate to depression. In the context of largescale traumatic events, policies that maintain and protect access to social, physical, and financial assets may help to protect mental health.

Abstract
Background Mental health disorders in patients with multi-drug or rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis (MDR/RR-TB) receive consistent attention. Anxiety and depression can manifest and may impact disease progression in patients with MDR/RR-TB. Given the heightened stressors resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, this scenario is even more concerning. Objective To evaluate the prevalence of and risk factors associated with anxiety and depression among patients with MDR/RR-TB in southern China. Methods A facility-based cross-sectional study was undertaken at Guangzhou Chest Hospital in southern China, encompassing a cohort of 219 patients undergoing outpatient and inpatient treatment for MDR/RR-TB. Anxiety and depressive symptoms were assessed using the 7-Item Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) scale and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). The ramifications of anxiety and depression were examined using univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses, with odds ratios (ORs) and age- and sex-adjusted ORs (AORs) employed to quantify their influence. All data underwent statistical analysis using SPSS 25.0, with statistical significance established at P < 0.05. Results Two hundred and nineteen individuals with MDR/RR-TB were included in the study. The prevalence of anxiety and depression was 57.53% (n = 126) and 65.75% (n = 144), respectively, with 33.3% (n = 73) of the participants experiencing both conditions simultaneously. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that an age of 20-40 years [anxiety AOR = 3.021, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.240-7.360; depression AOR = 3.538, 95% CI: 1.219-10.268], disease stigma (anxiety AOR = 10.613, 95% CI: 2.966-37.975; depression AOR = 4.514, 95% CI: 2.051-10.108) and poor physical health (anxiety AOR = 7.636, 95% CI: 2.938-19.844; depression AOR = 6.190, 95% CI: 2.468-15.529) were significant risk factors for moderate levels of anxiety and depression. Conclusions We found that individuals with MDR/RR-TB had an elevated risk of anxiety and depression. To decrease the likelihood of unfavorable treatment outcomes, it is imperative to carefully monitor the psychological wellbeing of patients with MDR/RR-TB and promptly address any detrimental psychiatric conditions.

Abstract
Background Insomnia in healthcare workers has become a topic of concern in the health system. The high infectivity and longevity of the COVID-19 pandemic have resulted in great pressure and a high incidence of insomnia among healthcare workers. Insomnia among healthcare workers has a negative impact on high-quality healthcare services in addition to their health. Thus, it's necessary to explore insomnia's underlying mechanisms. Object The present research's aims were threefold: explored the association between social support, resilience, COVID-19 anxiety, and insomnia among healthcare workers during the pandemic, elucidated the underlying mechanism of insomnia, and offered recommendations for improving the health of these workers. Materials and methods A cross-sectional design was adopted. From May 20 to 30, 2022, 1038 healthcare workers were selected to fill out the Oslo 3-item Social Support Scale, the eight-item Athens Insomnia Scale, the Coronavirus Anxiety Scale, and the Brief Resilience Scale. Descriptive statistics and correlations were analyzed by SPSS 25.0. Mediation analysis was conducted by Mplus 8.3 using 5000 bootstrap samples. Results Of the participating 1038 healthcare workers, the prevalence of insomnia was 41.62% (432/1038). Significant associations were found involving insomnia, resilience, COVID-19 anxiety, and social support. Insomnia was directly affected by social support. Moreover, three indirect pathways explain how social support affected insomnia: resilience's mediating role, COVID-19 anxiety's mediating role, and the chain-mediation role of resilience and COVID-19 anxiety. Conclusion The results validated our hypotheses and supported the opinion of Spielman et al. 's three-factor model of insomnia. Social support of healthcare workers has an indirect impact on insomnia in addition to its direct one via independent and chain-mediation effects of resilience and COVID-19 anxiety.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered a global mental health crisis. Yet, we know little about the lasting effects of COVID-19 infection on mental health. This prospective longitudinal study aimed to investigate the trajectories of mental health changes in individuals infected with COVID-19 and to identify potential predictors that may influence these changes. METHODS A web-survey that targeted individuals that had been infected with COVID-19 was used at three time-points: T0 (baseline), T1 (six months), and T2 (twelve months). The survey included demographics, questions related to COVID-19 status, previous psychiatric diagnosis, post-COVID impairments, fatigue, and standardized measures of depression, anxiety, insomnia. Linear mixed models were used to examine changes in depression, anxiety, and insomnia over time and identify factors that impacted trajectories of mental health outcomes. RESULTS A total of 236 individuals completed assessments and was included in the longitudinal sample. The participants' age ranged between 19 and 81 years old (M = 48.71, SD = 10.74). The results revealed notable changes in mental health outcomes over time. The trajectory of depression showed significant improvement over time while the trends in anxiety and insomnia did not exhibit significant changes over time. Younger participants and individuals who experienced severe COVID-19 infection in the acute phase were identified as high-risk groups with worst mental ill-health. The main predictors of the changes in the mental health outcomes were fatigue and post-COVID impairments. CONCLUSIONS The findings of our study suggest that mental health outcomes following COVID-19 infection exhibit a dynamic pattern over time. The study provides valuable insights into the mental health trajectory following COVID-19 infection, emphasizing the need for ongoing assessment, support, and interventions tailored to the evolving mental health needs of this population.

Abstract
Introduction Previous coronavirus, 2019 (COVID-19) research has applied network analysis to examine relationships between psychopathological symptoms but rarely extended to potential risk and protective factors or the influence of COVID-19 infection history. This study examined complex inter-relationships between psychopathological symptoms, COVID-19-related stressors, perceived social support, and COVID-19 infection history among Chinese university/college students during the peak of fifth pandemic wave using a network analysis approach. Methods A Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator-regularized partial correlation network using Gaussian graphical model was constructed in 1,395 Chinese university/college students in Hong Kong who completed a survey between 15 March and 3 April, 2022. Depressive, anxiety, and acute/traumatic stress symptoms were measured by Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7, and Impact of Event Scale-6, respectively. COVID-19-related stressors and perceived social support were measured. Network differences by COVID-19 infection history (COVID-network vs. no_COVID-network) and network communities were examined. Results Our results showed that the most influential nodes were depressed mood, uncontrollable worries, and uncontrollable thoughts about COVID-19. The main bridging symptoms were concentration problems and psychomotor problems. The COVID-network, comprising participants with a history of COVID-19 infection only, was significantly stronger than the no_COVID-network. Perceived social support and stress from conflicts with family/friends formed a unique community with negative cognition and suicidal idea in the COVID-network only. Conclusion Our findings indicate that specific interventions targeting interpersonal conflicts and concentration problems as well as facilitating stress buffering effects of social support may represent effective strategies to reduce psychological distress in university/college students during COVID-19 and should be considered for future pandemic preparedness.

Abstract
Background Insomnia disorder is a common health condition; it has a role in increasing the possibility of developing other psychological disorders, including anxiety and depression. Anxiety and preoccupation with sleep are two examples of common cognitive factors that contribute to the development of chronic insomnia; thus, it is important to have a tool that assesses worry in insomnia. There is no comprehensive psychiatric measure to assess anxiety and preoccupation with sleep in Arabic. We conducted this study to translate, adapt, and validate the Arabic version of the Anxiety and Preoccupation about Sleep Questionnaire (APSQ), providing a reliable psychometric tool to assess concerns regarding sleep within Arabic-speaking communities. Methods The translation process of the scale involved several steps, including forward and backward translation. A cross-sectional study was conducted using an online survey completed by 523 participants from various Arabic-speaking countries. Psychometric analysis was performed utilizing the R software, including internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and confirmatory factor analysis. In addition, convergent and divergent against the Athens insomnia scale (AIS) and general anxiety disorder (GAD) were conducted. Results The Arabic-translated form of the APSQ expresses excellent internal consistency with a value of 0.91 for both Cronbach's α and McDonald's ω. The test-retest reliability of a subsample showed an excellent coefficient of 0.93 (p<0.01). A good fit of the APSQ was observed by CFI = 0.93, TLI = 0.91, SRMR = 0.05, and RMSEA = 0.1. Convergent and divergent against AIS and GAD showed statistically significant correlations of 0.85 (p<0.01) and 0.69 (p<0.01), respectively. Our sample showed a mean APSQ score of 31.28 ± 8.31, and the mean age was 23.62 ± 7.5. Conclusion The Arabic APSQ is reliable and valid for measuring anxiety and preoccupation with sleep in Arabic countries. Using translated APSQ for clinical diagnosis and research is currently trustworthy.

Abstract
STUDY OBJECTIVES This study was conducted to determine (1) whether the distribution of undergraduates who endorse insomnia or behaviorally induced insufficient sleep syndrome (BIISS) varied during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic relative to normal sleepers and in comparison to values reported pre-pandemic and (2) whether group (insomnia, BIISS, and normal sleepers) was differentially associated with health, stress, and academic achievement mid-pandemic. METHODS Two hundred ninety-three undergraduates completed online questionnaires assessing demographics, global sleep quality, insomnia severity, health, and perceived stress; cumulative grade point averages (GPAs) were also collected for each participant. RESULTS The proportion of participants in each group did not differ from the pre-pandemic values reported in Williams et al (2020). Relative to the normal-sleepers group, the insomnia group reported poorer sleep quality, greater insomnia severity, poorer functioning on measures of physical health, and increased stress; only 1 significant difference was found concerning the BIISS group. Group differences were not found on GPA. CONCLUSIONS Despite the various challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the distribution of participants by group was similar to those reported pre-pandemic. The insomnia group fared most poorly in terms of sleep quality, insomnia severity, physical health, and stress. As such, additional effort should be devoted to identifying undergraduates with insomnia to provide treatment that may improve their sleep and their health. Abstract
Shift work may adversely affect individuals' health, thus, the current study aimed to investigate the association between shift work and health outcomes in the general population. A total of 41,061 participants were included in this online cross-sectional survey, among which 9612 (23.4%) individuals engaged in shift work and 31,449 (76.6%) individuals engaged in non-shift work. Multiple logistic regression analyses were conducted to explore the association between shift work and health outcomes (psychiatric disorders, mental health symptoms, and physical disorders). In addition, associations between the duration (≤1 year, 1-3 years, 3-5 years, 5-10 years, ≥10 years) and frequency of shift work (<1 or ≥1 night/week) and health outcomes were also explored. The results showed that compared to non-shift workers, shift workers had a higher likelihood of any psychiatric disorders (odds ratios [OR] = 1.80, 95% CI = 1.56-2.09, p < 0.001), mental health symptoms (OR = 1.76, 95% CI = 1.68-1.85, p < 0.001), and physical disorders (OR = 1.48, 95% CI = 1.39-1.57, p < 0.001). In addition, inverted U-shaped associations were observed between the duration of shift work and health outcomes. These results indicated that shift work was closely related to potential links with poor health outcomes. The findings highlighted the importance of paying attention to the health conditions of shift workers and the necessity of implementing comprehensive protective measures for shift workers to reduce the impact of shift work.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Depression and anxiety have been found prevalent during all phases of the COVID-19 pandemic. In late December 2022, almost all COVID-19 control measures were lifted in China, leading to a surge in COVID-19 infections. The public's perceived risk and fear of COVID-19 would be increased. This study aims to examine the prevalence of depression and anxiety in the Chinese general population and explores the mediating role of fear of COVID-19 between COVID-19 perceived risk and depression/anxiety and the moderating role of resilience between fear of COVID-19 and depression/anxiety. METHODS A cross-sectional online survey was conducted in Wenzhou, China, immediately following almost all COVID-19 control measures lifted. The 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), the COVID-19 Risk Perception Scale, the Fear of COVID-19 Scale, and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) were used to evaluate depression, anxiety, COVID-19 perceived risk, fear of COVID-19, and resilience, respectively. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Maximum Likelihood (ML) estimator and adjusted for significant background factors was performed to test the moderated mediation. Data obtained from 935 participants were analyzed. RESULTS The prevalence of moderate to severe depression and anxiety was 23.7% and 9.5%, respectively. The present study revealed positive associations among COVID-19 perceived risk, fear of COVID-19 and depression/anxiety, and negative associations between resilience and fear of COVID-19/depression/anxiety. Fear of COVID-19 partially mediated the association between COVID-19 perceived risk and depression/anxiety. Furthermore, resilience significantly moderated the association between fear of COVID-19 and depression/anxiety. Two moderated mediation models were constructed. CONCLUSION Depression and anxiety were prevalent among Chinese adults during the final phase of the pandemic in China. The significant mediation role of fear of COVID-19 implies that reducing fear of COVID-19 may effectively alleviate depression and anxiety symptoms. Moreover, enhancing public resilience during an epidemic crisis is crucial for promoting mental health.

Abstract
Defying the COVID-19 pandemic required restriction measures of unprecedented scale, that may induce and exacerbate psychiatric symptoms across the population. We aimed to assess in vivo dynamic effects of mitigation strategies on human brain neurobiology, neuroplastic as well as psychometric parameters. Three structural magnetic resonance imaging measurements, serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (sBDNF) analyses, and psychometric assessments (Beck Depression Inventory-II and Perceived Stress Questionnaire-20) were performed in healthy individuals and patients with a recurrent major depressive disorder in the period from September 2020 to July 2021. Group differences and changes over time in structural imaging, neuroplastic and psychometric parameters were assessed with linear mixed models. Analysis of data from 18 patients with a recurrent major depressive disorder and 28 healthy individuals showed clinically relevant scores for depression and stress in the patient group as well as significant cross-sectional differences in depression scores (F = 30.89, p < 0.001) and three subscales of the Perceived Stress Questionnaire (Worries: F = 19.19, p < 0.001, Tension: F = 34.44, p < 0.001, Joy: F = 12.05, p = 0.001). Linear mixed models revealed no significant changes over time in cortical thickness of the prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate cortex, hippocampus, and amygdala (F = 0.29, p > 0.1) and no interaction with group (F = 0.28, p > 0.1). Further, analysis revealed no main effect of time and no interaction of time x group in depressive symptoms, perceived stress subscales, and sBDNF (all p > 0.1). Despite the limited sample size, the strength of this investigation lies in the multimodal assessment of peri-pandemic lockdown effects. Nine months of varying restrictions measures did not result in observable changes in brain morphology nor impact depressive symptoms in either psychiatric patients with a recurrent major depressive disorder or healthy individuals. While these neurobiological and psychometric data stand in contrast to initial expectations about the effects of restriction measures, they might inform future investigations of longitudinal effects of restriction measures on mental health.

Abstract
Background The burden of depression symptoms has increased among individuals infected with SARS-CoV-2 during COVID-19 pandemic. However, the prevalence and associated factors of depressive symptoms among individuals infected with SARS-CoV-2 remain uncertain after optimizing the COVID-19 response in China. Methods An online cross-sectional survey was conducted among the public from January 6 to 30, 2023, using a convenience sampling method. Sociodemographic and COVID-19 pandemic-related factors were collected. The depression symptoms were assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Logistic regression analysis was performed to explore the associated factors with depressive symptoms. Results A total of 2,726 participants completed the survey. The prevalence of depression symptoms was 35.3%. About 58% of the participants reported experiencing insufficient drug supply. More than 40% of participants reported that they had missed healthcare appointments or delayed treatment. One-third of participants responded experiencing a shortage of healthcare staff and a long waiting time during medical treatment. Logistic regression analysis revealed several factors that were associated with depression symptoms, including sleep difficulties (OR, 2.84; 95% CI, 2.34-3.44), chronic diseases (OR, 2.15; 95% CI, 1.64-2.82), inpatient treatment for COVID-19 (OR, 3.24; 95% CI, 2.19-4.77), with COVID-19 symptoms more than 13 days (OR, 1.30, 95% CI 1.04-1.63), re-infection with SARS-CoV-2 (OR, 1.52; 95% CI, 1.07-2.15), and the increased in demand for healthcare services (OR, 1.32; 95% CI, 1.08-1.61). Conclusion This study reveals a moderate prevalence of depression symptoms among individuals infected with SARS-CoV-2. The findings underscore the importance of continued focus on depressive symptoms among vulnerable individuals, including those with sleeping difficulties, chronic diseases, and inpatient treatment for COVID-19. It is necessary to provide mental health services and psychological interventions for these vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 epidemic.
