Abstract
An 11-year-old spayed female, Persian cat was referred to the Jeonbuk Animal Medical Center for evaluation of a 2-month history of lethargy and anorexia. Physical examination revealed tachycardia and hypotension. Abdominal imaging via sonography and CT identified a right adrenal gland mass causing severe deviation and compression of the caudal vena cava. After stabilising the blood pressure and heart rate through positive inotropes and fluid therapy, right adrenalectomy was performed. Surgery confirmed the adrenal gland mass was severely compressing the caudal vena cava. Histopathological examination revealed that the mass was a pheochromocytoma. After adrenalectomy, blood pressure and heart rate stabilised and remained unaffected 8 months postsurgery. This report describes a rare case of an adrenal pheochromocytoma leading to caudal vena cava compression in a cat presenting with hypotension.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study evaluated the association between social support during the re-entry period and long-term health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in breast cancer survivors using a longitudinal cohort study. METHODS This is a prospective cohort study with 275 breast cancer survivors who reported HRQoL at 5 and 10 years after diagnosis. Social support for the re-entry period was measured 3 years after diagnosis using the Medical Outcome Study Social Support Survey (MOS-SSS). HRQoL was evaluated using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 (QLQ-C30) and Breast Cancer-Specific Module (BR-23). Multivariable linear regression analysis was performed to evaluate HRQoL at 5 and 10 years after diagnosis by level of social support during the re-entry period. RESULTS The mean (SD) of social support during re-entry period was 68.5. The low social support (LSS, score < 55) group during the re-entry period had a significantly lower HRQoL (mean difference = - 12.93) compared to moderate or high social support (MHSS, score ≥ 55) group. 5 and 10 years after diagnosis, the LSS group continued to demonstrate lower HRQoL (5 years: - 7.17; 10 years: - 7.85) compared to the MHSS group. The LSS group were more likely to have lower role and social function scores, and higher fatigue, pain, and financial problems compared to the MHSS group at 10 years after diagnosis. CONCLUSIONS Breast cancer survivors who received lower social support during the re-entry period were more likely to experience poorer HRQoL in the long term than those who did not.

Abstract
Effective staff-patient communication is critical in acute care settings, particularly for patients with dementia. Limited work has examined the impact of quality of staff-patient care interactions on patient engagement. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the quality of staff-patient care interactions were associated with active patient engagement during the interaction after controlling for relevant covariates. The study was a secondary data analysis using baseline data from the Function Focused Care for Acute Care intervention study, with a total sample of 286 patients. Descriptive statistics and a generalized linear mixed model were used. The findings indicated that there was a significant relationship between the quality of care interactions and patient engagement such that receiving positive care interactions resulted in higher odds of active patient engagement. These findings can inform future interventions and training for acute care staff to improve quality of care interactions and patient engagement.

Abstract
Integrated health care (IHC) is efficacious, cost-effective, and more attractive to some consumers than traditional standalone psychotherapy, but the specific characteristics of IHC that drive this enhanced attraction have yet to be explored among potential future mental health consumers. As such, this brief report documents the results of a survey of 428 US adults who were asked to rank order the relative personal importance of seven characteristics (e.g., self-stigma mitigation, prompt appointment, saving money). These seven characteristics have been characterized in the IHC literature as potential beneficial elements of seeking mental health care from a provider in certain integrated health care settings. Getting sufficient information about one's health and treatment from one's provider was rated as most important, whereas co-location of mental/medical care and treatment privacy were rated as least important. The authors found evidence for select hypothesized demographic effects (e.g., interprovider communication rated more important for older adults) on how these factors were ranked. Professionals invested in developing and improving mental health care systems that are attractive and accessible to consumers in need of mental health care can consider the present findings when making decisions about which characteristics (e.g., getting sufficient information) should be maximized in the design and marketing of such systems. Future research, particularly longitudinal studies that assess prospective treatment seeking behavior, can build on the present study by examining the degree to which these attributes attract consumers to IHC settings.

Abstract
Synaptic transistors (STs) with a gate/electrolyte/channel stack, where mobile ions are electrically driven across the solid electrolyte, have been considered as analog weight elements for neuromorphic computing. The current (ID) between the source and drain in the ST is analogously updated by gate voltage (VG) pulses, enabling high pattern recognition accuracy in neuromorphic systems; however, the governing physical mechanisms of the ST are not fully understood yet. Our previous physics-based simulation study showed that ion movement in the electrolyte, rather than the electrochemical reactions that occur in the channel, plays an important role in switching. In this study, we experimentally explore the properties of the HfOx electrolyte and show that by tuning the density of oxygen vacancies, it can assume the dual role of electrolyte and channel. We demonstrate analog synaptic behavior using a novel ST with a two-layer stack of CuOx/HfOx, where the CuOx is the gate and Cu ion reservoir, and the HfOx is the electrolyte and channel. To improve state retention and linearity, we introduce a Cu ion transport barrier in the form of a dense and stoichiometric Al2O3 layer. The CuOx/Al2O3/HfOx exhibits excellent state retention and improved potentiation and depression response. Energy dispersive spectroscopy mapping following potentiation confirms the role of the Al2O3 layer in confining the Cu ions in the HfOx layer. We also show that a two-step programming scheme can further enhance synaptic response and demonstrate high recognition accuracy on the Fashion-MNIST dataset in simulation.

Abstract
Artificial neural networks (ANNs), inspired by the human brain's network of neurons and synapses, enable computing machines and systems to execute cognitive tasks, thus embodying artificial intelligence (AI). Since the performance of ANNs generally improves with the expansion of the network size, and also most of the computation time is spent for matrix operations, AI computation have been performed not only using the general-purpose central processing unit (CPU) but also architectures that facilitate parallel computation, such as graphic processing units (GPUs) and custom-designed application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). Nevertheless, the substantial energy consumption stemming from frequent data transfers between processing units and memory has remained a persistent challenge. In response, a novel approach has emerged: an in-memory computing architecture harnessing analog memory elements. This innovation promises a notable advancement in energy efficiency. The core of this analog AI hardware accelerator lies in expansive arrays of non-volatile memory devices, known as resistive processing units (RPUs). These RPUs facilitate massively parallel matrix operations, leading to significant enhancements in both performance and energy efficiency. Electrochemical random-access memory (ECRAM), leveraging ion dynamics in secondary-ion battery materials, has emerged as a promising candidate for RPUs. ECRAM achieves over 1000 memory states through precise ion movement control, prompting early-stage research into material stacks such as mobile ion species and electrolyte materials. Crucially, the analog states in ECRAMs update symmetrically with pulse number (or voltage polarity), contributing to high network performance. Recent strides in device engineering in planar and three-dimensional structures and the understanding of ECRAM operation physics have marked significant progress in a short research period. This paper aims to review ECRAM material advancements through literature surveys, offering a systematic discussion on engineering assessments for ion control and a physical understanding of array-level demonstrations. Finally, the review outlines future directions for improvements, co-optimization, and multidisciplinary collaboration in circuits, algorithms, and applications to develop energy-efficient, next-generation AI hardware systems.

Abstract
Neural networks have emerged as immensely powerful tools in predicting functional genomic regions, notably evidenced by recent successes in deciphering gene regulatory logic. However, a systematic evaluation of how model architectures and training strategies impact genomics model performance is lacking. To address this gap, we held a DREAM Challenge where competitors trained models on a dataset of millions of random promoter DNA sequences and corresponding expression levels, experimentally determined in yeast, to best capture the relationship between regulatory DNA and gene expression. For a robust evaluation of the models, we designed a comprehensive suite of benchmarks encompassing various sequence types. While some benchmarks produced similar results across the top-performing models, others differed substantially. All top-performing models used neural networks, but diverged in architectures and novel training strategies, tailored to genomics sequence data. To dissect how architectural and training choices impact performance, we developed the Prix Fixe framework to divide any given model into logically equivalent building blocks. We tested all possible combinations for the top three models and observed performance improvements for each. The DREAM Challenge models not only achieved state-of-the-art results on our comprehensive yeast dataset but also consistently surpassed existing benchmarks on Drosophila and human genomic datasets. Overall, we demonstrate that high-quality gold-standard genomics datasets can drive significant progress in model development.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the accuracy of artificial intelligence-assisted growth prediction using a convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithm and longitudinal lateral cephalograms (Lat-cephs). MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 198 Japanese preadolescent children, who had skeletal Class I malocclusion and whose Lat-cephs were available at age 8 years (T0) and 10 years (T1), were allocated into the training, validation, and test phases (n = 161, n = 17, n = 20). Orthodontists and the CNN model identified 28 hard-tissue landmarks (HTL) and 19 soft-tissue landmarks (STL). The mean prediction error values were defined as 'excellent,' 'very good,' 'good,' 'acceptable,' and 'unsatisfactory' (criteria: 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm, and 2.0 mm, respectively). The degree of accurate prediction percentage (APP) was defined as 'very high,' 'high,' 'medium,' and 'low' (criteria: 90%, 70%, and 50%, respectively) according to the percentage of subjects that showed the error range within 1.5 mm. RESULTS All HTLs showed acceptable-to-excellent mean PE values, while the STLs Pog', Gn', and Me' showed unsatisfactory values, and the rest showed good-to-acceptable values. Regarding the degree of APP, HTLs Ba, ramus posterior, Pm, Pog, B-point, Me, and mandibular first molar root apex exhibited low APPs. The STLs labrale superius, lower embrasure, lower lip, point of lower profile, B', Pog,' Gn' and Me' also exhibited low APPs. The remainder of HTLs and STLs showed medium-to-very high APPs. CONCLUSION Despite the possibility of using the CNN model to predict growth, further studies are needed to improve the prediction accuracy in HTLs and STLs of the chin area.

Abstract
Tumor necrosis factor superfamily (TNFSF) resistance contributes to the development and progression of tumors and resistance to various cancer therapies. Tumor-intrinsic alterations involved in the adaptation to the TNFSF response remain largely unknown. Here, we demonstrate that protein kinase C substrate 80K-H (PRKCSH) abundance in lung cancers boosts oncogenic IGF1R activation, leading to TNFSF resistance. PRKCSH abundance is correlated with IGF1R upregulation in lung cancer tissues. Specifically, PRKCSH interacts with IGF1R and extends its half-life. The PRKCSH-IGF1R axis in tumor cells impairs caspase-8 activation, increases Mcl-1 expression, and inhibits caspase-9, leading to an imbalance between cell death and survival. PRKCSH deficiency augmented the antitumor effects of natural killer (NK) cells, representative TNFSF effector cells, in a tumor xenograft IL-2Rg-deficient NOD/SCID (NIG) mouse model. Our data suggest that PRKCSH plays a critical role in TNFSF resistance and may be a potential target to improve the efficacy of NK cell-based cancer therapy.

Abstract
The most commonly used chemotherapy for colorectal cancer (CRC) is the application of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). Inhibition of thymidylate synthase (TYMS) expression appears to be a promising strategy to overcome the decreased sensitivity to 5-FU caused by high expression of TYMS, which can be induced by 5-FU treatment. Several compounds have been shown to potentially inhibit the expression of TYMS, but it is unclear whether short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which are naturally produced by bacteria in the human intestine, can regulate the expression of TYMS. Sodium butyrate (NaB) is the most widely known SCFA for its beneficial effects. Therefore, we investigated the enhancing effects on inhibition of cell viability and induction of apoptosis after co-treatment of NaB with 5-FU in two CRC cell lines, HCT116 and LoVo. This study suggests that the effect of NaB in improving therapeutic sensitivity to 5-FU in CRC cells may result from a mechanism that strongly inhibits the expression of TYMS. This study also shows that NaB inhibits the migration of CRC cells and can cause cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase. These results suggest that NaB could be developed as a potential therapeutic adjuvant to improve the therapeutic effect of 5-FU in CRC.

Abstract
Frugivory evolved multiple times in mammals, including bats. However, the cellular and molecular components driving it remain largely unknown. Here, we use integrative single-cell sequencing (scRNA-seq and scATAC-seq) on insectivorous (Eptesicus fuscus; big brown bat) and frugivorous (Artibeus jamaicensis; Jamaican fruit bat) bat kidneys and pancreases and identify key cell population, gene expression and regulatory differences associated with the Jamaican fruit bat that also relate to human disease, particularly diabetes. We find a decrease in loop of Henle and an increase in collecting duct cells, and differentially active genes and regulatory elements involved in fluid and electrolyte balance in the Jamaican fruit bat kidney. The Jamaican fruit bat pancreas shows an increase in endocrine and a decrease in exocrine cells, and differences in genes and regulatory elements involved in insulin regulation. We also find that these frugivorous bats share several molecular characteristics with human diabetes. Combined, our work provides insights from a frugivorous mammal that could be leveraged for therapeutic purposes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Recent nationwide studies of disparities in cancer incidence by income are scarce in Korea. This study investigated such disparities in cancer incidence and the stage at cancer diagnosis across income groups in Korea. METHODS This study utilized data from a national cancer database, specifically focusing on cases recorded in the year 2018. Income levels were categorized into quintiles according to the insurance premium paid in addition to the Medicaid benefit. The slope index of inequality (SII) and relative index of inequality (RII) were used to measure absolute and relative differences in cancer incidence by income. A multivariable logistic regression was performed to estimate the risk of a distant stage at cancer diagnosis. RESULTS The total number of cases of incident cancer was 223,371 (men: 116,320, women: 107,051) with shares of the total of 29.5% (5Q), 20.4% (4Q), 16.0% (3Q), 13.5% (2Q), 15.6% (1Q), and 5% (Medicaid). The most common cancer type was thyroid cancer, followed by gastric and colorectal cancers. The age-standardized incidence rate for all cancers was lowest in the highest income group, but the SII was not statistically significant (SII: -35.7), and the RII was -0.07. Colorectal and cervical cancers had lower incidence rates for higher income groups, while thyroid and prostate cancers had higher incidence rates for higher income groups. The odds ratio for a distant stage at diagnosis for all cancers increased for lower income groups relative to 5Q. CONCLUSIONS Disparities in cancer incidence in a Korean population differed by cancer type, and lower income was a significant predictor of a distant stage at diagnosis for cancers overall. These results emphasize the need for further study of the underlying causes of disparities in cancer incidence and the stage at diagnosis, as well as the need for interventions to mitigate these disparities.

Abstract
The multilevel current states of synaptic devices in artificial neural networks enable next-generation computing to perform cognitive functions in an energy-efficient manner. Moreover, considering large-scale synaptic arrays, multiple states programmed in a low-current regime may be required to achieve low energy consumption, as demonstrated by simple numerical calculations. Thus, we propose a three-terminal Cu-ion-actuated CuOx/HfOx/WO3 synaptic transistor array that exhibits analogously modulated channel current states in the range of tens of nanoamperes, enabled by WO3 channel engineering. The introduction of an amorphous stoichiometric WO3 channel formed by reactive sputtering with O gas significantly lowered the channel current but left it almost unchanged with respect to consecutive gate voltage pulses. An additional annealing process at 450 °C crystallized the WO3, allowing analog switching in the range of tens of nanoamperes. The incorporation of N gas during annealing induced a highly conductive channel, making the channel current modulation negligible as a function of the gate pulse. Using this optimized gate stack, Poole-Frenkel conduction was identified as a major transport characteristic in a temperature-dependent study. In addition, we found that the channel current modulation is a function of the gate current response, which is related to the degree of progressive movement of the Cu ions. Finally, the synaptic characteristics were updated using fully parallel programming and demonstrated in a 7 × 7 array. Using the CuOx/HfOx/WO3 synaptic transistors as weight elements in multilayer neural networks, we achieved a 90% recognition accuracy on the Fashion-MNIST dataset.

Abstract
With the rapid development of human-friendly wearable devices, energy storage components are required to have skin-like stretchability or free-form to fit closer and more comfortably to the human body. This study introduces a hierarchically interpenetrated reentrant microcellular structure combined with 2D cellular graphene/MXene/carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and 3D cellular melamine foam. This composite structure works as a stretchable framework of lithium metal composite electrodes to provide stretchability for lithium metal electrodes, which are promising as next-generation energy storage systems. The interpenetrated but independent cellular structures successfully obtain stable structural deformability from the nonconductive and deformable melamine foam, while at the same time, high electrical conductivity, lithiophilicity, and mechanical stability of the graphene/CNT/MXene network serve as a lithium deposition support during the electrodeposition of lithium. The reentrant structure is fabricated by radial compressing the hierarchical cellular structures to take advantage of the structural stretchability of the accordion-like reentrant frameworks. The lithium-deposited composite electrodes exhibit much lower overpotential during Li stripping and plating than lithium metal foil anodes and show stable electrochemical performances under 30% of mechanical strain. The reentrant microcellular electrodes offer great potential for advanced designs of lithium metal electrodes for stretchable batteries with high energy density.

Abstract
Animal growth is controlled by a variety of external and internal factors during development. The steroid hormone ecdysone plays a critical role in insect development by regulating the expression of various genes. In this study, we found that fat body-specific expression of miR-276a, an ecdysone-responsive microRNA (miRNA), led to a decrease in the total mass of the larval fat body, resulting in significant growth reduction in Drosophila. Changes in miR-276a expression also affected the proliferation of Drosophila S2 cells. Furthermore, we found that the insulin-like receptor (InR) is a biologically relevant target gene regulated by miR-276a-3p. In addition, we found that miR-276a-3p is upregulated by the canonical ecdysone signalling pathway involving the ecdysone receptor and broad complex. A reduction in cell proliferation caused by ecdysone was compromised by blocking miR-276a-3p activity. Thus, our results suggest that miR-276a-3p is involved in ecdysone-mediated growth reduction by controlling InR expression in the insulin signalling pathway.

Abstract
Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) is an air pollutant that causes severe lung injury. We investigated the effects of Jujuboside B (JB), a component of Zizyphi Spinosi Semen, on lung toxicity caused by PM2.5, and we identified the mechanism of its protective effect. Lung injury in an animal model was induced by intratracheal administration of a PM2.5 suspension. After 2 days of PM2.5 pretreatment, mice were administered JB via the tail vein three times over a 2-day period. JB significantly reduced the histological lung damage as well as the lung wet/dry weight ratio. JB also considerably reduced PM2.5-induced autophagy dysfunction, apoptosis, inflammatory cytokine levels, and the number of PM2.5-induced lymphocytes in the bronchial alveolar fluid. We conclude that by regulating TLR2, 4-MyD88, and mTOR-autophagy pathways, JB exerts a protective effect on lung injury. Thus, JB can be used as a potential therapeutic agent for PM2.5-induced lung damage.

Abstract
This study investigated the lay perception of inequalities in society, healthcare utilization, and health in Korea. We also examined the association between socioeconomic status (SES) and perception of inequalities. Data from an online survey on the perception of health and healthcare inequalities related to cancer conducted between October 19, 2021, and November 12, 2021, were used. Data of 3,769 participants aged 20 to 74 years from 17 provinces were analyzed. We examined the perceived level of inequalities according to SES or residential area using frequency analysis, a t-test or analysis of variance (ANOVA), multiple linear regression analysis, and multiple logistic regression analysis. The mean score for perception of social inequality was 5.99 [Standard Deviation (SD) = 1.95] and that for perception of healthcare utilization inequality was 4.75 (SD = 1.96). The perception rate of health inequality according to SES and residential area was approximately 59 % and 61 %, respectively. Higher the income level, lower the level of perception of social inequalities β = -0.22, p < 0.01). Higher the education level, higher the level of perception of healthcare utilization inequalities (β = 0.21, p < 0.01). Higher the education level, higher the level of perception of health inequalities according to SES or residential area [adjusted odds ratio (aOR): 2.33 (95 % CI: 1.48, 3.66); aOR: 2.73 (95 % CI: 1.73, 4.31)]. Socioeconomic inequalities were observed in the perception of inequalities in healthcare utilization and health. Policymakers should establish policies to bridge the gap between perceived healthcare utilization inequalities and health inequalities. Future research should investigate the perception of healthcare utilization and health inequalities.

Abstract
Neuroinflammation activated by microglia affects inflammatory pain development. This study aimed to explore the anti-inflammatory properties and mechanisms of 1,6,7-trihydroxy-2-(1,1-dimethyl-2-propenyl)-3-methoxyxanthone (THMX) from Cudrania tricuspidata in microglia activation-mediated inflammatory pain. In RAW 264.7 and BV2 cells, THMX has been shown to reduce lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and pro-inflammatory mediators and cytokines, including nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin (PG) E2, interleukin (IL)-6, and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α). THMX also decreased LPS-induced phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and the activation of p65 nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB). Interestingly, THMX also activated heme oxygenase (HO)-1 expression. These findings suggest that THMX is a promising biologically active compound against inflammation through preventing MAPKs and NF-ĸB and activating HO-1 signaling pathways.

Abstract
Heparan sulfate (HS) plays a critical role in various biological processes as a vital component of the extracellular matrix. In this study, we synthesized three fluorescent probes (1-3) comprising Arg-rich peptides as HS receptors and a fluorophore capable of exhibiting red-shifted emissions upon aggregation. All three probes demonstrated ratiometric responses to HS and heparin in aqueous solutions. Remarkably, probe 3 exhibited a unique ratiometric response to HS in both aqueous solutions at physiological pH and HS proteoglycans on live cells. Probe 3 displayed exceptional sensing properties, including high biocompatibility, water solubility, visible light excitation, a large Stokes shift for ratiometric detection and remarkable selectivity and sensitivity for HS (with a low limit of detection: 720 pM). Binding mode studies unveiled the crucial role of charge interactions between probe 3 and negatively charged HS sugar units. Upon binding, the fluorophore segments of the probes overlapped, inducing green and red emission changes through restricted intramolecular rotation of the fluorophore moiety. Importantly, probe 3 was effectively employed to quantify the reduction of HS proteoglycan levels in live cells by inhibiting HS sulfation using siRNA and an inhibitor. It successfully detected decreased HS levels in cells treated with doxorubicin and irradiation, consistent with results obtained from western blot and immunofluorescence assays. This study presents the first ratiometric fluorescent probe capable of quantitatively detecting HS levels in aqueous solutions and live cells. The unique properties of peptide-based probe 3 make it a valuable tool for studying HS biology and potentially for diagnostic applications in various biological systems.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) African Americans (AA) requiring neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) have been associated with worse outcomes. Residual nodal disease (ypN+) after NAC represents a highly unfavorable risk factor. We hypothesized that even within this unfavorable subgroup, that racial differences in outcome would persist. MATERIALS/METHODS An IRB-approved retrospective review of breast cancer (BC) patients in a multi-institutional study was performed between 2005-2018 to identify ypN+ patients (excluding metastatic or inflammatory BC). Clinico-pathologic parameters stratified by race were collected and analyzed. For molecular subtype analyses, patients were stratified into triple negative (TN), hormone receptor (HR)+/HER2-, and HR+/HER2+, and HR-/HER2+ subtypes. Overall survival (OS), disease free survival (DFS) and recurrence outcomes were obtained, and univariate and multivariate (MVA) logistic regression models were constructed and analyzed. RESULTS Among 404 ypN+ patients, 107 (26%) were AA, and 297 (74%) were non-AA. Median follow-up for the non-AA group was 3.8 years (y) (IQR 2.4-6.3) and 3.5y (IQR 2.0-6.2) for the AA group. Clinical and pathologic patient characteristics (age, molecular subtypes, BRCA status, histology, grade, smoking status, primary surgery type, axillary/reconstruction surgery rates, margin status, stage) were without significant statistical differences between the non-AA and AA group, except the non-AA group had proportionally more cN3 disease (10.5% vs. 5.1%; p = .01). Despite this, AA demonstrated worse OS and DFS outcomes (Table). AA also had significantly worse local (15% vs. 6.7%, p = .02), regional (11.2% vs. 5.1%, p = .05) and distant recurrences (32.7% vs. 22.6%, p = .05) compared to non-AA. On MVA for OS and DFS, HR+ status, clinical stage, and AA race (HR 2.1 (CI 1.3-3.4), p = .004 and HR 1.7 (CI 1.1-2.6), p = .01 respectively) remained significant. Molecular subtype analysis demonstrated that AA with HR+/HER2- but not the TN subtypes demonstrated significantly worse outcomes (Table). Utilization of endocrine therapy was not different between AA and non-AA patients (94% vs. 97%, p = 0.3) to explain this discrepancy. Worse outcomes in HER2 subtype for AA group was suggested but could not be statistically verified due to insufficient sample size. There was no discernible difference in chemotherapy and radiation therapy regimen or compliance between the AA and non-AA groups. CONCLUSION AA patients who fail to achieve nodal clearance with NAC had higher local, regional and distant recurrence, and worse survival compared to non-AA, particularly those with non-TN status. These differences could not be readily explained by therapeutic disparity, or compliance. These hypothesis generating findings suggest need to explore biological implications, and alternative therapeutic strategies for this unfavorable subgroup.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) We report on our early experience of a multi-institutional phase II study of dose escalated five fraction stereotactic partial breast irradiation (S-PBI) for early-stage breast cancer after partial mastectomy using the GammaPodTM stereotactic radiation system. MATERIALS/METHODS Patient eligibility included DCIS or invasive epithelial histologies, AJCC clinical stage 0, I, or II with tumor size < 3 cm, and negative margins. Prior safety of Phase I dose escalation has been reported. Dose was 40 Gy delivered in 5 fractions to the CTV, and minimum dose 30 Gy in 5 fractions to the PTV. CTV margin was 1 cm and PTV margin 3 mm. For PTV cavities larger than 100cc, dose was reduced to 35Gy in 5 fractions to the CTV and 30 Gy in 5 fractions to the PTV. Primary endpoint of the study is to determine the 3-year patient global cosmesis score (4-point scale excellent, good, fair, or poor) and adverse cosmesis using a dose escalated approach with smaller PTV margins than conventional methods. Both patients and physicians completed baseline and subsequent cosmesis outcome questionnaires. Treatment related toxicity was graded using the NCI version 4.0 and RTOG/EORTC late radiation scale. RESULTS From 3/2019-10/2021, 74 patients were treated respectively. Of these, 38 were treated to 40Gy and 36 were treated to 35 Gy. Median follow up (f/u) was 24 months (mo), range (r) 3-39mo. Median age was 63 years (r 43-77). Histology included 28 DCIS, and 46 invasive carcinomas. 45/46 invasive tumors were ER+. 60/74 (81%) patients received endocrine therapy, and 7/74 patient received chemotherapy. There were 221 acute grade 1 toxicities, and 28 Grade 2 toxicities. No grade 3 or higher acute toxicities were reported (< 90 days). The most common Grade 2 toxicities were radiation dermatitis (10), breast pain (8), blister (4), skin infection (2), nipple discharge (2), and fatigue (2). In the late period, there were 54 Grade 1 late toxicities, 4 Grade 2 late toxicities, and no Grade 3 or higher late toxicities. Grade 2 toxicities included fibrosis (2), and pain (2). Two patients developed grade 1 asymptomatic nonpalpable fat necrosis both diagnosed at 12 months after radiation treatments. The most common grade 1 late toxicities were breast pain (14), hyperpigmentation (8), fibrosis (10), and fatigue (5). Physicians scored cosmesis excellent or good 70/73 (95.8%), 58/60 (96.7%), 36/36 (100%),17/17(100%) respectively at baseline, 12 months, 24 months, and 36months post SBRT, while patients scored the same periods 62/71 (83.7%), 53/59 (89.8%), 33/36 (91.6%), 17/18 (94.4%). There have been no reports of disease recurrences. CONCLUSION Results at 24-month median follow-up, of our dose escalated stereotactic partial breast 5 fraction regimen, has low acute and late toxicity, while maintaining high proportion of excellent/good cosmetic outcomes. Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Irradiation of the breast has shown to provide sharp dose gradients using Co-60 prone based stereotactic partial breast irradiation (CP-sPBI), a contemporary device for stereotactic radiotherapy for breast cancer (BC) for accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI). In addition, the precise setup of CP-sPBI permits a small planning treatment volume (PTV) margin of 3 mm creating a greater distance from PTV to organs at risk. However, to date the factors that influence dose gradients and subsequent cardiac doses of ionizing radiation using CP-sPBI have not been well-studied. Here we evaluate distance of the heart to the lumpectomy PTV cavity and how this effects cardiac dose. MATERIALS/METHODS A retrospective database of 113 consecutive patients treated by CP-sPBI for APBI from March 2019 to February 2023 who were treated with 30 Gy in 5 fractions were queried for analysis. The minimum distance from the heart to the PTV (hP) was measured in either the axial or sagittal view. A group of 28 patient cases were randomly selected to achieve an even distribution of 28 cases with hP < 2.75 cm and hP ≥ 2.75 cm to compare cardiac toxicities based on hP. Descriptive analyses were performed to evaluate various cardiac dosimetric parameters based on laterality of BC and hP, using the student's t test. RESULTS The mean (range) hP was 4.58 cm (0.80-12.23) for all cases. The subgroup analyses of 28 patient cases with cardiac parameters showed the heart mean (range) dose of 1.20 Gy (0.01-2.11). The mean and max heart dose to the left-sided BC were similar to those to the right-sided BC (mean dose: 1.20 vs. 1.19 Gy; P = 0.97 and max dose: 10.47 vs. 5.66 Gy; P = 0.06). An inverse correlation between hP and mean heart dose was shown with the correlation coefficient of -0.81. Using a cutoff of 2.75 cm hP, the differences between hP < 2.75 and hP ≥ 2.75 cm for all cardiac dosimetric evaluations were all statistically significant, including mean (1.67 vs. 0.79 Gy; p<0.01) and maximal heart dose (14.48 vs. 4.11 Gy; p<0.01) CONCLUSION: CP-sPBI treatment delivery system was able to achieve acceptable clinically relevant heart dosimetric parameters when delivering 5 fraction APBI with a mean heart dose of 1.20 Gy for all locations of PTV cavity volume in the breast. Due to CP-sPBIs excellent dose fall-off characteristics, APBI using CP-SPBI showed clinically acceptable cardiac dosimetric parameters, particularly for PTVs located > 2.75 cm from the heart.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Radiation therapy (RT) is commonly used in the treatment of locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC), but data on its impact on men's sexual health is limited. Given the rising incidence of rectal cancer in younger men, sexual function is an important quality of life factor. We hypothesized that men with LARC treated with RT would be at increased risk of sexual dysfunction compared to men who did not receive RT. MATERIALS/METHODS This is a single institution retrospective analysis of outcomes of men ≤50 years diagnosed with LARC between 1999 and 2019. Primary outcomes of erectile dysfunction (ED), ejaculatory dysfunction (EjD), and testosterone deficiency (TD) were assessed via ICD-9/10 codes, and TD was captured with free testosterone <300 ng/dL. Cumulative incidences were calculated with death as a competing risk and p values were calculated using Gray's test. Subdistribution hazard ratios from competing risk regression models were used. RESULTS The combined study sample included 451 men: 347 received RT as part of their multimodality treatment, and 104 did not. Median time to last follow up was 5.6 years (IQR 3.3-8.7). Age at diagnosis, stage, and medical comorbidities for sexual dysfunction were similar between the two groups (p>0.05). Cumulative incidence estimates are shown in Table 1, showing a higher cumulative incidence of ED in the RT group, but no difference in EjD or TD between the 2 groups. On univariable analysis, RT, smoking, dyslipidemia, peripheral artery disease, depression, prostate cancer/hyperplasia, closed or current ileostomy, and undergoing rectal cancer surgery were all independent risk factors for ED (p<0.05). On multivariable analysis, RT maintained statistical significance as an independent risk factor for ED (HR 3.87, 95% CI 1.93-7.75, p<0.001). Within the RT group, IMRT compared to 3D (HR 1.54, 95% CI 1.02-2.32, p = 0.040) and groin RT (HR 2.60, 95% CI 1.21-5.59, p = 0.014) were independent risk factors for ED. Within the RT group, groin RT also approached significance as a risk factor for TD (HR 3.61, 95% CI 0.98-13.3, p = 0.054). No RT dose thresholds to external genitals or penile bulb were identified that increased risks of ED, EjD, or TD. CONCLUSION RT for LARC independently increases risk of ED but not EjD or TD. IMRT might increase the risk of ED due to increased scatter dose to the genitals and including the inguinal nodes in the target volumes increases the dose to the genitals/testicles, which could translate into a higher risk for ED and TD. Future research on proton RT and prophylactic sildenafil is needed in men ≤50 to decrease the risk of ED.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Given the demonstrated financial toxicity (FT) of radiation treatment on breast cancer patients shown in both conventional and our recent 5 fraction stereotactic APBI (S-PBI) study, we assessed the FT, as well as patient-reported utility, quality-of-life and patient experience measures, on patients treated in our phase I single fraction S-PBI trial. MATERIALS/METHODS A phase I single fraction dose escalation trial of S-PBI for early-stage breast cancer was conducted. Women with in-situ or stage I-II (AJCC 6) invasive breast cancer following breast conserving surgery were treated with S-PBI in 1 fraction to a total dose of 22.5, 26.5 or 30 Gy (Clinical trials.gov ID NCT02685332). At one month follow-up, patients were asked to complete our novel "Patient Perspective Cost and Convenience of Care Questionnaire". Patients also completed the EQ-5D-5L, including the visual analogue scale of overall health (VAS), at enrollment, 6, 12-, 24-, 36-, and 48-month follow-up. RESULTS Of 29 patients enrolled and treated, questionnaire data was available for all patients. Our trial encompassed a wide range of annual household incomes, education, and employment status. Overall, 44.8% (n = 13/29) of patients reported that radiation treatment presented a financial burden. Interestingly, no demographic information, such as patient race, marital status, education, household income, or employment during treatment predicted perceived FT. Patients reporting FT trended towards younger age (median 64 vs 70.5) and having a cancer related co-pay similar to our 5 fraction S-PBI FT trial; however, due to the small size of this study, this did not reach significance (p = 0.24 and 0.10, respectively). VAS and utility scores were calculated per the EQ-5D-5L and remained unchanged from baseline through 4-year follow-up. Likewise, there was no difference in the utility or VAS between patients who reported FT and those who did not. Interestingly, while patient reported cosmesis was similar for all patients at enrollment, patients who reported FT noted significantly worse cosmesis scores (fair/poor vs good/excellent) at 6 month and 2-year follow-ups (p = 0.01 and 0.04, respectively). Finally, patients were surveyed on treatment related disruption to their daily activities and enjoyment of life. The median values were 0 (scale 0-10, with 0 being no disruption) regardless of perceived FT. Patients were also uniformly satisfied with treatment time with a median score of 10 (scale 0-10, 10 being most satisfied). CONCLUSION Here, we show that despite using SPBI in a single fraction, nearly half of the patients treated still reported FT of treatment. Importantly, single fraction S-PBI has no negative impact on patient VAS or utility scores, and all patients were uniformly satisfied with treatment time without significant disruption to their life.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) An increase in the availability of adaptive radiotherapy (ART) platforms have proven to be effective in the treatment of a variety of sites. In this study, we aim to evaluate the effectiveness of non-adaptive RT and 3 different ART platforms: (1) CBCT-based, (2) CT-based, and (3) MRI-based for stereotactic partial breast irradiation (SPBI). MATERIALS/METHODS Data were collected from 32 patients (16 left and 16 right breast) treated at a single institution. 16 patients (8 left and 8 right) treated using the non-ART platform were re-planned onto two different ART platforms, CBCT- and MRI-based. The remaining 16 patients treated using CT-based adaptive platform were not re-planned due to the prone patient treatment position (others systems supine). All cases were planned to 30 Gy in 5 fractions. Plan quality was evaluated based on pre-defined planning goals to the OARS: ipsilateral and contralateral lungs (Dmean, Dmax, V20 Gy, V9 Gy), ipsilateral (V15 Gy, V30 Gy) and contralateral breasts (Dmax), heart (Dmean, Dmax, V3 Gy, V1.5 Gy), skin (Dmax, V36.5 Gy), and rib (Dmax, V30 Gy). Target goals were defined by Dmax, Dmin, gradient index, and paddock conformality index. Re-planned cases were compared within the cohort using a paired t-test and a 2-sided t-test was used comparing to the CT-based platform. RESULTS Comparing the left and right breast cohort across all platforms, the CT-based ART system showed a signification dose reduction in Dmean (p<0.001 for all platforms), Dmax (p<0.001 for left breast, p<0.03 for right breast) and V9 Gy (p<0.004 for left breast, p<0.001 for right breast) to the ipsilateral lung, V15 Gy (p<0.004 for left breast cohort) to the ipsilateral breast, and Dmax to the contralateral breast (p<0.001) and ribs (p = 0.01, p<0.001, p = 0.01 for CBCT-ART, MRI-ART, and non-ART for left breast cohort only). On average, the MR-Linac platform showed the least degree of OAR sparing across nearly all dosimetric parameters evaluated when compared to all modalities, especially for contralateral lung Dmean and Dmax (p<0.05 for all dosimetric parameters for all platforms) and contralateral breast Dmax (p<0.003 for all platforms). The CBCT-based platform showed superior dose reduction in contralateral lung mean (p<0.03 for all platforms) and heart Dmean (p = 0.065, p<0.001, p = 0.045 for non-adaptive, MRI-ART, and CT-ART for left breast and p<0.008 for right breast). PTV coverage was comparable across all platforms, averaging at approximately 95%. The CT-based ART platform showed a significantly reduced gradient index relative to the CBCT- and MRI-based platforms (p<0.001). CONCLUSION For SPBI treatments, the CT-based ART platforms displayed a higher degree of OAR sparing for many of the dosimetric parameters recorded relative to the other ART and non-ART platforms presented. The MRI-based system typically showed less reduced OAR sparing; however, the advantage of the system is shown if soft tissue contrast is needed. PTV coverage remained comparable across all platforms.

Abstract
Studies on plant responses to combined abiotic stresses are very limited, especially in major crop plants. The current study evaluated the response of chorismate mutase overexpressor (OxCM) rice line to combined UV light and drought stress. The experiments were conducted in pots in a growth chamber, and data were assessed for gene expression, antioxidant and hormone regulation, flavonoid accumulation, phenotypic variation, and amino acid accumulation. Wild-type (WT) rice had reduced the growth and vigour, while transgenic rice maintained growth and vigour under combined UV light and drought stress. ROS and lipid peroxidation analysis revealed that chorismate mutase (OsCM) reduced oxidative stress mediated by ROS scavenging and reduced lipid peroxidation. The combined stresses reduced biosynthesis of total flavonoids, kaempferol and quercetin in WT plants, but increased significantly in plants with OxCM. Phytohormone analysis showed that SA was reduced by 50% in WT and 73% in transgenic plants, while ABA was reduced by 22% in WT plants but increased to 129% in transgenic plants. Expression of chorismate mutase regulates phenylalanine biosynthesis, UV light and drought stress-responsive genes, e.g., phenylalanine ammonia lyase (OsPAL), dehydrin (OsDHN), dehydration-responsive element-binding (OsDREB), ras-related protein 7 (OsRab7), ultraviolet-B resistance 8 (OsUVR8), WRKY transcription factor 89 (OsWRKY89) and tryptophan synthase alpha chain (OsTSA). Moreover, OsCM also increases accumulation of free amino acids (aspartic acid, glutamic acid, leucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine and proline) and sodium (Na), potassium (K), and calcium (Ca) ions in response to the combined stresses. Together, these results suggest that chorismate mutase expression induces physiological, biochemical and molecular changes that enhance rice tolerance to combined UV light and drought stresses.

Abstract
Socioeconomic barriers to cancer screening exist at a regional level. The deprivation index is used to estimate socioeconomic gradients and health disparities across different geographical regions. We aimed to examine the impact of deprivation on breast cancer screening participation rates among South Korean women. Municipal breast cancer screening participation rates in women were extracted from the National Cancer Screening Information System and linked to the Korean version of the deprivation index constructed by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. A generalised linear mixed model was employed to investigate the association between the deprivation index and age-standardised breast cancer screening participation rates in 2005, 2012, and 2018. Participation rates increased gradually across all age groups from 2005 to 2018. Participants in their 60 s consistently had one of the highest participation rates (2005: 30.37%, 2012: 61.57%, 2018: 65.88%). In 2005, the most deprived quintile had a higher estimate of breast cancer screening participation than the least deprived quintile (2nd quintile; estimate: 1.044, p = 0.242, 3rd quintile; estimate: 1.153, p = 0.192, 4th quintile; estimate: 3.517, p = 0.001, 5th quintile; estimate: 6.913, p = < 0.0001). In 2012, the participation rate also increased as the level of deprivation increased. There were no statistically meaningful results in 2018. Regions with high deprivation have a higher participation rate in breast cancer screening. The role of health disparities in determining cancer outcomes among women in Korea requires further examination.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to describe differences in treatment of White versus Black older adults, males versus females, and those living at home, assisted living, or nursing home communities with regard to the use of psychotropic, pain, and cardiovascular medications. Baseline data from the first 352 participants in the study, implementation of Function-Focused Care for Acute Care Using the Evidence Integration Triangle, were used. Data included age, gender, race, comorbidities, admission diagnosis, and living location prior to hospitalization, the Saint Louis University Mental Status exam, the modified Charlson Comorbidity Index, the Pain Assessment in Advanced Dementia scale, the Confusion Assessment Method, and medications prescribed. Generalized linear mixed model analyses were done, controlling for race or gender (depending on which comparison analysis was being done), age, cognitive status, hospital, delirium, and comorbidities. Medication use was significantly higher for White older adults, compared to Black older adults, for antidepressants, anxiolytics, non-opioid pain medications, and opioids and lower for antihypertensives. Females received more anxiolytics than their male counterparts. There were differences in medication use by living location with regard to non-opioid pain medication, antipsychotics, statins, and anticoagulants. The findings provide some current information about differences in medication use across groups of individuals and can help guide future research and hypothesis testing for approaches to minimizing these differences in treatment.

Abstract
Older adults continue to spend little time engaged in physical activity when hospitalized. The purpose of this study was to (a) describe activity among hospitalized older adults with dementia and (b) identify the association between specific factors (gender, ambulation independence, comorbidities, race, and hospital setting) and their physical activity. This descriptive study utilized baseline data on the first 79 participants from the Function Focused Care for Acute Care using the Evidence Integration Triangle. Multiple linear regression models were run using accelerometry data from the first full day of hospitalization. The participants spent an average of 83.7% of their time being sedentary. Male gender, ambulation independence, and hospital setting (the hospital in which the patient was admitted) were associated with greater activity. This study reports on the limited time spent in activity for older adults with dementia when hospitalized and highlights patient profiles that are particularly vulnerable to sedentary behavior in the hospital setting.

Abstract
To describe the use of psychotropic medications among older hospitalized patients. This was a descriptive study using baseline data from the first 308 older patients in a function focused care intervention study. Age, gender, race, comorbidities, admitting diagnosis, and medications (antidepressants, antianxiety medications, anticonvulsants, dementia drugs, antipsychotics, sedative-hypnotics, and opioids) were obtained at baseline and discharge. To compare change over time, generalized estimating equations were used. Participants were mostly female (63%) and White (69%) and were 83.1 years old on average. Antidepressant, antianxiety, anticonvulsant, dementia medication, sedative-hypnotic, and opioid use remained essentially unchanged between admission and discharge. Antipsychotic medication use increased significantly from 16% to 21% at discharge. There was persistent use of psychotropic medication among hospitalized older adults living with dementia and little evidence of deprescribing. There was some indication of changes made during hospitalization that may be appropriate, even without a focused deprescribing initiative.

Abstract
The interfacial energetics are known to play a crucial role in organic diodes, transistors, and sensors. Designing the metal-organic interface has been a tool to optimize the performance of organic (opto)electronic devices, but this is not reported for organic thermoelectrics. In this work, it is demonstrated that the electrical power of organic thermoelectric generators (OTEGs) is also strongly dependent on the metal-organic interfacial energetics. Without changing the thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT) of polythiophene-based conducting polymers, the generated power of an OTEG can vary by three orders of magnitude simply by tuning the work function of the metal contact to reach above 1000 µW cm-2 . The effective Seebeck coefficient (Seff ) of a metal/polymer/metal single leg OTEG includes an interfacial contribution (Vinter /ΔT) in addition to the intrinsic bulk Seebeck coefficient of the polythiophenes, such that Seff = S + Vinter /ΔT varies from 22.7 µV K-1 [9.4 µV K-1 ] with Al to 50.5 µV K-1 [26.3 µV K-1 ] with Pt for poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):p-toluenesulfonate [poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(4-styrenesulfonate)]. Spectroscopic techniques are used to reveal a redox interfacial reaction affecting locally the doping level of the polymer at the vicinity of the metal-organic interface and conclude that the energetics at the metal-polymer interface provides a new strategy to enhance the performance of OTEGs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE An autoencoder can learn representative time-signal intensity patterns to provide tissue heterogeneity measures using dynamic susceptibility contrast MR imaging. The aim of this study was to investigate whether such an autoencoder-based pattern analysis could provide interpretable tissue labeling and prognostic value in isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) wild-type glioblastoma. MATERIALS AND METHODS Preoperative dynamic susceptibility contrast MR images were obtained from 272 patients with IDH wild-type glioblastoma (training and validation, 183 and 89 patients, respectively). The autoencoder was applied to the dynamic susceptibility contrast MR imaging time-signal intensity curves of tumor and peritumoral areas. Representative perfusion patterns were defined by voxelwise K-means clustering using autoencoder latent features. Perfusion patterns were labeled by comparing parameters with anatomic reference tissues for baseline, signal drop, and percentage recovery. In the validation set (n = 89), a survival model was created from representative patterns and clinical predictors using Cox proportional hazard regression analysis, and its performance was calculated using the Harrell C-index. RESULTS Eighty-nine patients were enrolled. Five representative perfusion patterns were used to characterize tissues as high angiogenic tumor, low angiogenic/cellular tumor, perinecrotic lesion, infiltrated edema, and vasogenic edema. Of these, the low angiogenic/cellular tumor (hazard ratio, 2.18; P = .047) and infiltrated edema patterns (hazard ratio, 1.88; P = .009) in peritumoral areas showed significant prognostic value. The combined perfusion patterns and clinical predictors (C-index, 0.72) improved prognostication when added to clinical predictors (C-index, 0.55). CONCLUSIONS The autoencoder perfusion pattern analysis enabled tissue characterization of peritumoral areas, providing heterogeneity and dynamic information that may provide useful prognostic information in IDH wild-type glioblastoma.

Abstract
Rhizogenic Agrobacterium biovar 1 strains are important plant pathogens that cause hairy root disease in Cucurbitaceae and Solanaceae crops cultivated under hydroponic conditions. In contrast to tumorigenic agrobacteria, only a few genome sequences of rhizogenic agrobacteria are currently available. Here, we report the draft genome sequences of 27 rhizogenic Agrobacterium strains.

This study examined consumers' environmental consciousness as a factor influencing the purchase of eco-friendly products, and investigated situational factors that induce hesitancy in purchasing eco-friendly products. We studied the moderating effects of these factors with regard to ease of purchase and eco label credibility. Our research model is validated using data from 220 consumers with experience in purchasing eco-friendly products in Korea. For the data analysis, we used SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0 to perform confirmatory factor analysis and SEM. The specific verification results are as follows. First, environmental interest did not significantly impact the purchase intention of eco-friendly products. Second, consumers' environmental knowledge and consumer effectiveness perception both had a significant impact on the purchase intention of eco-friendly products. Third, the intention to purchase eco-friendly products significantly impacted the purchase behavior of eco-friendly products. In addition, the results of this study show that ease of purchase and eco label credibility have moderating effects on the relationship between purchase intention and purchase behavior. This study results contribute to the eco-friendly consumption literature by explaining the intention-behavior gap. This study also show that eco-friendly consumption can be stimulated through raising eco label credibility and ease of purchase. The findings have theoretical implications for understanding the factors that affect consumers' intentions of and behavior toward eco product purchases, and practical implications for how to stimulate environmental consumer behavior.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The COVID-19 pandemic increased the importance of technology for all Americans, including older adults. Although a few studies have indicated that older adults might have increased their technology use during the COVID-19 pandemic, further research is needed to confirm these findings, especially among different populations, and using validated surveys. In particular, research on changes in technology use among previously hospitalized community-dwelling older adults, especially those with physical disability, is needed because older adults with multimorbidity and hospital associated deconditioning were a population greatly impacted by COVID-19 and related distancing measures. Obtaining knowledge regarding previously hospitalized older adults' technology use, before and during the pandemic, could inform the appropriateness of technology-based interventions for vulnerable older adults. OBJECTIVE In this paper, we 1) described changes in older adult technology-based communication, technology-based phone use, and technology-based gaming during the COVID-19 pandemic, compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic and 2) tested whether technology use moderated the association between changes in in-person visits and well-being, controlling for covariates. METHODS Between December 2020 and January 2021 we conducted a telephone-based objective survey with 60 previously hospitalized older New Yorkers with physical disability. We measured technology-based communication through three questions pulled from the National Health and Aging Trends Study COVID-19 Questionnaire. We measured technology-based smart phone use and technology-based video gaming through the Media Technology Usage and Attitudes Scale. We used paired t tests and interaction models to analyze survey data. RESULTS This sample of previously hospitalized older adults with physical disability consisted of 60 participants, 63.3% of whom identified as female, 50.0% of whom identified as White, and 63.8% of whom reported an annual income of $25,000 or less. This sample had not had physical contact (such as friendly hug or kiss) for a median of 60 days and had not left their home for a median of 2 days. The majority of older adults from this study reported using the internet, owning smart phones, and nearly half learned a new technology during the pandemic. During the pandemic, this sample of older adults significantly increased their technology-based communication (mean difference=.74, P=.003), smart phone use (mean difference=2.9, P=.016), and technology-based gaming (mean difference=.52, P=.030). However, this technology use during the pandemic did not moderate the association between changes in in-person visits and well-being, controlling for covariates. CONCLUSIONS These study findings suggest that previously hospitalized older adults with physical disability are open to using or learning technology, but that technology use might not be able to replace in-person social interactions. Future research might explore the specific components of in-person visits that are missing in virtual interactions, and if they could be replicated in the virtual environment, or through other means.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE It is difficult to conclude that COVID-19 is associated with a decrease in the suicide attempts rate by comparing only a short-term period. Therefore, it is necessary to examine attempted suicide rates through a trend analysis over a longer period. This study aimed to investigate an estimated long-term trend regarding the prevalence of suicide-related behaviors among adolescents in South Korea from 2005 to 2020, including COVID-19. SUBJECTS AND METHODS We sourced data from a national representative survey (Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey) and analyzed one million Korean adolescents aged 13 to 18 years (n=1,057,885) from 2005 to 2020. The 16-year trends regarding the prevalence of sadness or despair and suicidal ideation and attempt and the trend changes before and during COVID-19. RESULTS Data of 1,057,885 Korean adolescents was analyzed (weighted mean age, 15.03 years; males, 52.5%; females, 47.5%). Although the 16-year trend in the prevalence of sadness or despair and suicide ideation and attempt consistently decreased (prevalence of sadness or despair between 2005-2008, 38.0% with 95% confidence interval [CI], 37.7 to 38.4 vs. prevalence in 2020, 25.0% [24.5 to 25.6]; suicide ideation between 2005-2008, 21.9% [21.6 to 22.1] vs. prevalence in 2020, 10.7% [10.3 to 11.1]; and suicide attempt between 2005-2008, 5.0% [4.9 to 5.2] vs. prevalence in 2020, 1.9% [1.8 to 2.0]), the downward slope decreased during COVID-19 (βdiff in sadness, 0.215 with 95% CI 0.206 to 0.224; βdiff in suicidal ideation, 0.245 [0.234 to 0.256]; and βdiff in suicide attempt, 0.219 [0.201 to 0.237]) compared with pre-pandemic period. CONCLUSIONS This study found that the observed risk of suicide-related behaviors during the pandemic was higher than expected through long-term trend analysis of the prevalence of sadness/despair and suicidal ideation and attempts among South Korean adolescents. We need a profound epidemiologic study of the change in mental health due to the pandemic's impact and the establishment of prevention strategies for suicide ideation and attempt.

Abstract
BACKGROUND During transoral robot-assisted thyroidectomy, there is a risk of increasing intracranial pressure because the site of CO2 insufflation is narrow and close to the brain. METHODS We analyzed the pre- to post-CO2 neck insufflation change in the optic nerve sheath diameter during transoral robot-assisted thyroidectomy. Changes in vital-signs, airway pressure, and arterial carbon dioxide pressure were analyzed along with postoperative complications. RESULTS Among the 30 participants, the post-CO2 inflation mean optic nerve sheath diameter (5.64 ± 0.54 mm) was higher than the pre-induction diameter (4.81 ± 0.37 mm) with a mean difference of 0.83 (95% CI, 0.69-0.97; p < 0.001), but returned to baseline after CO2 deflation in most cases. One participant had sustained increased optic nerve sheath diameter (6.35 mm) associated with severe new-onset postoperative headache. CONCLUSION Transient elevation in the intracranial pressure during low-pressure CO2 neck insufflation in the transoral robot-assisted thyroidectomy did not appear to adversely affect patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The aims of this study were to: (1) describe the prevalence of behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia in hospitalized older adults living with dementia and (2) examine the association of physical activity and behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia among hospitalized older adults living with dementia, after controlling for covariates. METHODS Physical activity was measured using the Physical Activity Survey and behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia were measured using the Neuropsychiatric Inventory. Descriptive analysis and multiple linear regressions were run using baseline data on 294 older adults with dementia hospitalized on general medical units from an ongoing study entitled Function Focused Care for Acute Care Using the Evidence Integration Triangle. RESULTS Participants performed an average of 7.92 (SD = 4.49) of 34 possible activities "in the last 24 h" prior to the Physical Activity Survey administration. A total of 132 participants (45.5%) had at least one behavioral and psychological symptom of dementia. We found that physical activity was not associated with behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (b = 0.01; p = 0.56), after controlling for covariates. CONCLUSIONS Although this study found no evidence of an association between physical activity and behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia, evidence of physical activity did not exacerbate these behaviors. Thus, given the benefits of physical activity, it is important to continue to encourage patients living with dementia to engage in activity.

Abstract
Jujuboside B (JB) found in the seeds of Zizyphi Spinosi Semen possesses pharmacological functions, such as anti-inflammatory, antiplatelet aggregation, and antianxiety potentials. This study evaluated the effect of JB on liver failure in cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)-induced sepsis. First, we observed histopathological changes in the liver by optical microscopy and the activity of enzymes in serum such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST). We further measured the levels of interleukin (IL)-1β, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, nitric oxide (NO), and antioxidative parameters in liver homogenate. The expression of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11β-HSD1), 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 (11β-HSD2), and glucocorticoid receptor (GR) in the liver was observed by Western blotting. CLP enhanced the migration of inflammatory cells, ALT and AST concentrations, and necrosis, which were reduced by JB. In addition, JB reduced 11β-HSD2 expression and levels of inflammatory mediators (TNF-α, IL-1β, and NO) in the liver, increased GR expression, enhanced endogenous antioxidative capacity. These results further suggest that JB may protect the liver against CLP-induced damage by regulating anti-inflammatory responses, downregulating 11β-HSD2 expression and antioxidation, and up-regulating GR expression.

Abstract
Protein nanocages have attracted considerable attention in various fields of nanomedicine due to their intrinsic properties, including biocompatibility, biodegradability, high structural stability, and ease of modification of their surfaces and inner cavities. In vaccine development, these protein nanocages are suited for efficient targeting to and retention in the lymph nodes and can enhance immunogenicity through various mechanisms, including excellent uptake by antigen-presenting cells and crosslinking with multiple B cell receptors. This review highlights the superiority of protein nanocages as antigen delivery carriers based on their physiological and immunological properties such as biodistribution, immunogenicity, stability, and multifunctionality. With a focus on design, we discuss the utilization and efficacy of protein nanocages such as virus-like particles, caged proteins, and artificial caged proteins against cancer and infectious diseases such as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In addition, we summarize available knowledge on the protein nanocages that are currently used in clinical trials and provide a general outlook on conventional distribution techniques and hurdles faced, particularly for therapeutic cancer vaccines.

Abstract
High mobility group box protein 1 (HMGB1) is a biomolecule that acts as an alerting signal of late sepsis by accelerating the production of proinflammatory cytokines, and eventually leads to various inflammation-related symptoms. When released into plasma at high concentration, it disrupts precise diagnosis and prognosis and worsens the survival of patients with systemic inflammatory conditions. Jujuboside B (JB) is a natural compound pressed from the seed of Zizyphi Spinosi Semen, which is known for its medical efficacies in treating various conditions such as hyperlipidemia, hypoxia, and platelet aggregation. Nevertheless, the medicinal activity of JB on HMGB1-involved inflammatory response in vascular cells in the human body is still ambiguous. Therefore, we hypothesized that JB could regulate the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced dynamics of HMGB1 and its mediated cascade in inflammatory responses in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). In this experiment, JB and HMGB1 were administered in that order. In vitro and in vivo permeability, and cell viability, adhesion, and excavation of leukocytes, development of cell adhesion molecules, and lastly production of proinflammatory substances were investigated on human endothelial cells and mouse disease models to investigate the efficacy of JB in inflammatory condition. JB substantially blocked the translocation of HMGB1 from HUVECs and controlled HMGB1-induced adhesion and extravasation of the neutrophils through LPS-treated HUVECs. Moreover, JB decreased the formation of HMGB1 receptors and continually prevented HMGB1-induced proinflammatory mechanisms by blocking transcription of nuclear factor-κB and synthesis of tumor necrosis factor-α. In conclusion, JB demonstrated preventive effects against inflammatory pathologies and showed the potential to be a candidate substance for various inflammatory diseases by regulating HMGB1-mediated cellular signaling.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aims to identify factors associated with divorce following breast cancer diagnosis and measures the impact of divorce on the quality of life (QoL) of patients. METHODS We used cross-sectional survey data collected at breast cancer outpatient clinics in South Korea from November 2018 to April 2019. Adult breast cancer survivors who completed active treatment without any cancer recurrence at the time of the survey (N = 4,366) were included. The participants were classified into two groups: "maintaining marriage" and "being divorced," between at the survey and at the cancer diagnosis. We performed logistic regression and linear regression to identify the factors associated with divorce after cancer diagnosis and to compare the QoL of divorced and nondivorced survivors. RESULTS Approximately 11.1/1,000 of married breast cancer survivors experienced divorce after cancer diagnosis. Younger age, lower education, and being employed at diagnosis were associated with divorce. Being divorced survivors had significantly lower QoL (Coefficient [Coef] = -7.50; 95% CI = -13.63, -1.36), social functioning (Coef = -9.47; 95% CI = -16.36, -2.57), and body image (Coef = -8.34; 95% CI = -6.29, -0.39) than survivors who remained married. They also experienced more symptoms including pain, insomnia, financial difficulties, and distress due to hair loss. CONCLUSION Identifying risk factors of divorce will ultimately help ascertain the resources necessary for early intervention.

Abstract
PURPOSE We developed a comprehensive return to work (RTW) intervention covering physical, psycho-social and practical issues for patients newly diagnosed and evaluated its efficacy in terms of RTW. Materials and Methods A multi-center randomized controlled trial was done to evaluate the efficacy of the intervention conducted at two university-based cancer centers in Korea. The intervention program comprised educational material at diagnosis, a face-to-face educational session at completion of active treatment, and three individualized telephone counseling sessions. The control group received other education at enrollment. RESULTS At 1-month post-intervention (T2), the intervention group was more likely to be working compared to the control group after controlling working status at diagnosis (65.4% vs. 55.9%, p=0.037). Among patients who did not work at baseline, the intervention group was 1.99-times more likely to be working at T2. The mean of knowledge score was higher in the intervention group compared to the control group (7.4 vs. 6.8, p=0.029). At the 1-year follow-up, the intervention group was 65% (95% confidence interval, 0.78 to 3.48) more likely to have higher odds for having work. CONCLUSION The intervention improved work-related knowledge and was effective in facilitating cancer patients' RTW.

Abstract
While electro-chemical RAM (ECRAM)-based cross-point synaptic arrays are considered to be promising candidates for energy-efficient neural network computational hardware, array-level analyses to achieve energy-efficient update operations have not yet been performed. In this work, we fabricated CuOx/HfOx/WOx ECRAM arrays and demonstrated linear and symmetrical weight update capabilities in both fully parallel and sequential update operations. Based on the experimental measurements, we showed that the source-drain leakage current (ISD) through the unselected ECRAM cells and resultant energy consumption—which had been neglected thus far—contributed a large portion to the total update energy. We showed that both device engineering to reduce ISD and the selection of an update scheme—for example, column-by-column—that avoided ISD intervention via unselected cells were key to enable energy-efficient neuromorphic computing.
