Abstract
Geographical disparities exist in human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates with Southern states having the lowest rates. Parental attitudes remain understudied in different Southern locations. We assessed factors related to HPV vaccination receipt among children aged 9-17 years in Tennessee, and if those factors differed by child's age and gender. A cross-sectional survey of 506 parents was performed via random digit dial from May to August 2022. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to estimate adjusted odds ratios and 95 % confidence intervals to predict sociodemographic and overall vaccine-related factors associated with HPV vaccine receipt or non-receipt (referent) for their child, and exploratory analyses to determine if those factors differed by child's age and gender. In adjusted logistic regression models, HPV vaccine receipt was significantly positively associated with the child's age (13-17 years) and the parent and child having had the influenza vaccine this season and the COVID-19 vaccine, and negatively associated with children who were male and had a parent employed part-time/unemployed/retired/student/disabled. Significant associations for HPV vaccine receipt were with increased levels of agreement of the parent having enough information for decision-making, belief the vaccine was beneficial, and increased levels of trust and perceived effectiveness of the vaccine. Increased levels of hesitancy and increased levels of agreement that the vaccine might cause infertility issues in the child, was unsafe, and natural immunity is better than vaccine immunity had negative associations with HPV vaccine receipt. All associations were more pronounced among older than younger children, and all but one association (overall vaccine trust) was more pronounced among males compared with females. Strategies to improve HPV vaccine uptake should be targeted to and/or include males and parents with children aged 9-12 years, and include education on the importance and process of protecting the body through HPV vaccination and vaccines in general.

Abstract
This study assessed the knowledge of 12- to 15-year-old male junior high school students of HPV and HPV vaccines and their willingness to be vaccinated against it. From March to May 2023, students from six junior high schools in Zhejiang Province were randomly selected to complete an online, anonymous, self-administered questionnaire. Of the 1786 students, 618 (34.6%) reported knowledge of HPV vaccine. In general, junior high school boys have low general knowledge about HPV, the consequences of HPV infection, and the effects of HPV vaccination. Multivariate analysis showed that the subgroup scoring 6-7 on the measure of the consequences of HPV infection(7 questions with 1 score for each correct answer) compared to the subgroup scoring 0, the subgroups scoring 2 and 3 on the measure of the preventive effect of HPV vaccine(3 questions with 1 score for each correct answer) compared to the subgroup scoring 0 were were more likely to be willing to be vaccinated against HPV. Hearing that someone close to them had cancer, believing that men also need to be vaccinated against HPV, knowing that someone close to them had been vaccinated against HPV, and being concerned about cervical cancer in their female sexual partners were all more likely to generate positive responses. HPV vaccine education for this group of students should emphasize the possibility and consequences of HPV infection in males, along with the importance and benefits of HPV vaccination; actual cases of vaccination in students around them can be used to achieve this goal.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a prevalent sexually transmitted infection globally, linked to genital warts and various cancers. The burden of HPV-related diseases in males is rising significantly. We reviewed studies published until September 2024 from databases like PubMed, Embase®, and Web of Science, summarizing HPV vaccination acceptance among boys and parents in Asia and exploring influencing factors. Acceptance rates for HPV vaccination among boys ranged from 48.4% to 69.9%, while parental acceptance varied from 10.0% to 91.0%. Recent years have shown a positive trend in acceptance, influenced by perceived risk and benefits, barriers, sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge and awareness of HPV and its vaccine, and social support factors. Targeted educational interventions are crucial for increasing awareness of male-associated HPV diseases and for dispelling misconceptions. The future implementation of gender-neutral vaccination policies may facilitate broader acceptance. Future studies should focus on developing interventions to promote pan-gender HPV vaccination.

Abstract
Background Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection worldwide, with HPV and HPV-related diseases representing a substantial disease burden. HPV vaccination has reduced HPV infections and HPV-related diseases; however, there is growing evidence of delayed or refused vaccination due to a lack of trust in vaccines. Understanding the factors that impact vaccine uptake will allow the development and implementation of successful vaccination programmes. Objectives This study aimed to evaluate the acceptability of HPV vaccination among adolescents and parents in the United Kingdom (UK). Design Systematic review. Methods Online databases (Embase, Medline and Cochrane) and grey literature sources were searched to identify publications pertaining to 'adolescents', 'parents', 'vaccine uptake', 'vaccine hesitancy' and 'barriers or facilitators to vaccination'. Searches were limited to English language and articles published specific to the United Kingdom between 2017 and 2023. Results Following a review of 152 abstracts, 24 publications met the inclusion criteria. While HPV vaccination is widely accepted in the UK, with coverage reported ⩾80% in peer-reviewed literature, the UK Health Security Agency report that vaccine coverage estimates in England between 2020-2023 remain below 80% and are lower than pre-COVID levels. Several important barriers were identified that may impact vaccine uptake, including system-level (challenges with obtaining consent), psychological/behavioural (perception of HPV risk vs vaccine risks), and sociodemographic factors, with similar factors reported among adolescents and parents. Conclusion HPV vaccination coverage remains below pre-COVID levels in the UK and common barriers among adolescents and parents have been identified that must be addressed to improve coverage rates. There is currently limited evidence among adolescent boys to fully evaluate any differences in vaccination coverage, or barriers, compared to girls. More research is required into facilitators to vaccination (especially to address sociodemographic barriers), to identify approaches to tackle the barriers that currently impede HPV vaccination uptake.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papilloma virus (HPV) affects both males and females, but in South Korea, vaccination rates for boys are significantly lower due to cultural stigma and limited awareness. Effective strategies are needed to close this gap. METHODS This study evaluated a 6-week smartphone-based HPV prevention program for mothers of school-aged boys, designed using the extended theory of planned behavior (E-TPB). The program aimed to enhance knowledge, attitudes, subjective norms, and self-efficacy, with the goal of increasing vaccination intention and uptake. The E-TPB incorporated knowledge as a key element to improve behavioral intention and vaccination uptake. A nonequivalent control group pre-test-post-test design included 54 mothers (28 in the experimental group and 26 in the control group). RESULTS The experimental group showed significant improvements in HPV knowledge (p < 0.001; d = 1.41), HPV vaccine knowledge (p < 0.001; d = 1.13), attitudes (p < 0.001; r = 0.48), subjective norms (p = 0.014; d = 0.61), self-efficacy (p < 0.001; r = 0.53), and vaccination intention (p < 0.001; r = 0.58). The experimental group achieved a vaccination uptake rate of 25.0%, compared to 4.0% in the control group, representing a six-fold increase (RR = 6.25; p = 0.033; h = 0.64). CONCLUSIONS The program effectively addressed key factors influencing vaccination behavior, leading to significant increases in HPV vaccination rates among boys. Smartphone-based education shows promise in reducing gender disparities in vaccination uptake, though further studies with larger samples are needed to validate these findings.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection on U.S. college campuses. Although HPV vaccination is recommended through age 26, current efforts to improve vaccination rates have predominantly focused on adolescents. Consequently, vaccine uptake remains suboptimal among young adults. This represents a significant missed opportunity, as young adults face the highest risk for new HPV infections. To contextualize the factors impacting decision-making process for this vulnerable population, this study reports key themes that emerged from in-depth interviews with participants (N = 30) who had completed an online intervention study for HPV vaccination among college students. Twelve (40%) of the interviewees vaccinated after exposure to the intervention. Findings centered around empowerment among young adults as the facilitator to get the HPV vaccine: key themes emerged were (1) convenience is critical and empowering; (2) adulthood identity, marked by a heightened sense of autonomy, accountability, and responsibility for self/future self and others, is empowering; (3) equal access to health care and preventive resources is empowering, especially for participants with low socioeconomic status; and (4) accurate knowledge provided in the intervention destigmatized HPV vaccination to empower young adults to make informed decisions. Digital interventions with messages highlighting a newly gained autonomy, future-oriented self and social responsibility, inclusive and accurate knowledge, and providing navigation to improve access may enhance HPV vaccination among young adults.

Abstract
AIM To examine relationships between hypothesized potential predictors of vaccination and adolescent's Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination intention and whether these predictors differed by sex. We also investigated adolescents' experiences and preferences regarding learning about HPV through social media and other technology, to inform future tailored interventions. DESIGN Cross-sectional research design. METHODS 119 adolescents ages 11-17 years who had not received any HPV vaccine were enrolled. Purposive sampling was used to recruit participants from community and clinical settings, with the majority of households located in economically disadvantaged neighbourhoods in a southwest state. Participants completed an anonymous survey. Descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, chi-square test and hierarchical logistic regression were conducted to describe the sample, examine relationships between potential predictors and HPV vaccination intention and investigate sex differences. RESULTS The mean sample age was 13.76 years (SD = 2.03); 63% female; 42% Hispanic/Latino; 55.5% received free or reduced-price lunch. Compared to White adolescents, Hispanic/Latino adolescents reported higher HPV vaccination intention (AOR = 24.10, CI 95% [3.85-150.82]; p < 0.001). Adolescents who had higher perceived risk of contracting HPV (AOR = 1.89, CI 95% [1.23-2.91]; p = 0.004) and perceived more facilitators (AOR = 1.61, CI 95% [1.22-2.12]; p < 0.001) reported higher HPV vaccination intention. Compared to boys, girls (AOR = 0.28, CI 95% [0.08-0.97]; p = 0.045) had lower HPV vaccination intention. Adolescents also showed strong interest in learning HPV-related issues through digital education. CONCLUSION Adolescent HPV vaccination rates in the United States are significantly below the targeted 80% completion goal. Nurses play a critical role in protecting adolescents from HPV infection and related cancers. Digital interventions addressing HPV vaccine-related risks and facilitators and engaging key personnel (adolescent, parent, healthcare provider, teacher) in different settings have the potential to increase adolescent's vaccination intention. Abstract
Objective This study aimed to investigate the infection rate, types of human papillomavirus (HPV), and the relationship between HPV types and host factors in Zhejiang and lay a foundation for developing a prophylactic HPV vaccine. Methods A retrospective analysis of the genotyping results of 27 hPV types using exfoliated cells from the cervix, vulva, perianal region, or oral mucosa of 28206 females, and exfoliated cells from the penis, perianal region or oral mucosa of 2923 male patients undergoing treatment between January 2016 and December 2021 at Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital was performed. Results In females, the overall positive rate was 30.26%. The top five HPV types were HPV52, 58, 16, 6, and 53. In males, the overall positive rate was 31.85%. The top five HPV types were HPV6, 11, 16, 52, and 43. About 90.48% of patients with CINII+ were HR-HPV+. HPV33, 16 were the top two HPV types that increased CINII+ risks. Conclusion Currently, the bivalent (HPV16, 18), quadrivalent (HPV6, 11, 16, 18), and 9-valent (HPV6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, 58) HPV vaccines are marketed. Of these, the 9-valent HPV vaccines are more suitable for people in the Zhejiang province; however, it is still insufficient. Therefore, the 11-, 14-, and 15-valent vaccines being developed and marketed include more genotypes, and their outcomes are worth anticipating.

HPV vaccination is an important tool to prevent and control HPV infection and its complications. Despite carrying the severe burden of disease, HPV vaccine coverage in Africa remains low. The aim of the current review is to evaluate the factors associated with HPV vaccination acceptance among adolescent men and women, young men and women, parents/caregivers, men who have sex with men, healthcare workers and programme managers in Africa. METHODS AND ANALYSIS We will include peer-reviewed quantitative studies. We will search PubMed, Scopus, PsycInfo, Web of Science and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, with no language restriction, to identify eligible studies. Two review authors will independently screen the titles and abstracts of the search output in Covidence to select potentially eligible studies. The same two reviewers will independently screen the full-text of all identified potentially eligible articles to identify studies meeting inclusion criteria. Two review authors will independently extract data from eligible studies using a predefined data extraction form. Two review authors will independently assess the risk of bias in each included study, using the Effective Public Health Practice Project 'Quality Assessment Tool for Quantitative Studies'. We will assess the quality of evidence using the method for Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION Ethical approval is not required for this study because we will use already published data. Abstract
Despite the common belief that human papillomavirus (HPV) primarily affects women, it is imperative to recognize and address the impact of HPV on boys and men. Overlooking the health implications for males is a notable gap, as efforts have predominantly focused on preventing HPV-related infections in women. This commentary aims to emphasize the importance of HPV awareness and vaccination for boys and men by highlighting the prevalence and consequences of HPV infection, elaborating on the associated health risks, elucidating the benefits of vaccination, and urging readers to recognize the necessity of protecting males from HPV. In addition, the increase in HPV-related cancers in men underscores the urgent need for increased awareness and vaccination. Although specific testing for HPV in men is not available, the inclusion of men and boys in gender-neutral vaccination programs can help reduce the harmful effects of this virus in both genders.

Abstract
To analyze the distribution and factors associated with lack of knowledge about the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine among Brazilian adolescents.Cross-sectional study using the 2019 National School Health Survey among 17,805 Brazilian students of public and private schools, aged 13-17 years. The outcome variable was "lack of knowledge about the HPV vaccine" and the explanatory variables were sociodemographic, behaviors, knowledge, and health conditions. Logistic regression model was used to calculate Odds Ratio (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Spatial analysis techniques were used to determine the formation of clusters in the federated units with similar proportions of adolescents who were unaware of the vaccine. The lack of knowledge about the HPV vaccine was reported by 45.54% of Brazilian students. There was a higher chance of lack of knowledge having had sexual intercourse (OR 1.43; 95% CI 1.20-1.70); attending public school (OR 1.72; 95%CI 1.47-2.02) and located in the Northeast Region (OR 1.35; 95%CI 1.08-1.69). The lower chance of lack of knowledge were female gender (OR 0.41; 95% CI 0.35-0.48), higher maternal education (OR 0.62; 95% CI 0.50-0.77) self-rated health as Poor/very poor (OR 0.64; 95% CI 0.49-0.86) and receiving contraceptive counseling (OR 0.77; 95% CI 0.65-0.91). The proportion of lack of knowledge about the HPV vaccine was higher with the formation of High-High spatial clusters in the states of Maranhão, Piauí, and Pernambuco. Sociodemographic, health, and behavioral conditions and knowledge of students, as well as school characteristics, were associated with lack of knowledge about the HPV vaccine. A higher frequency of lack of knowledge about the HPV vaccine among adolescents was found in the states of the Northeastern Region.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Individuals with a higher level of awareness and knowledge of HPV are more likely to dispel misconceptions about HPV and reduce their likelihood of engaging in risky sexual behavior. Behavioural change can be achieved through interventions such as participatory action research (PAR), which has been applied in various contexts. Few studies have reported on the use of PAR in Nigeria. This study aims to utilise PAR as an intervention to increase HPV awareness, improve knowledge of HPV infection, and promote behavioural change for HPV prevention among young adolescents in Benue State, Nigeria. METHODS The study design uses a school-based, pre-post intervention approach with a cross-sectional component. Study participants are young adolescents aged 10-19 years in selected co-educational secondary schools in three local government areas (LGAs) spread across the three senatorial zones in Benue State, Nigeria. Two-stage sampling was used to select the LGAs and schools, and the sample size was computed using the before and after implementation with some prior information from a previous study. Data on sociodemographic characteristics, HPV awareness and knowledge of infection and prevention, prevention practices, and willingness for HPV vaccination were obtained with a self-administered semi-structured questionnaire adapted from the Vaccination and HPV Knowledge (THinK) survey. The HPV Knowledge survey (New Zealand) was utilized to collect information from students at baseline and post-implementation after PAR intervention. The Wilcoxon Signed Test (WST) was used to investigate the significance of the median differences before and after the intervention. A p-value less than 0.05 or 0.001 was considered significant. RESULTS A total of 548 adolescents were sampled before the intervention. After the intervention, the sample size decreased to 503, reflecting an 8% attrition rate. PAR effectively increased HPV awareness among the participants from 80.9% before the intervention to 99.8% afterward. The PAR led to a significant change in knowledge of HPV infection and primary prevention and an increase in perception of HPV primary prevention. decrease in misconceptions and risky sexual behaviours, increase in HIV screening tests, and increase in the willingness of participants to uptake the HPV vaccine. Among the measures of risky sexual behaviours was a decreased perception that having more than one sexual partner is not a risk factor for HPV after the PAR intervention. The number of participants in sexual relationships decreased from 84 (16.7%) at baseline to 37 (7.4%) post-implementation. The PAR also led to a decrease in the number of participants who reported having STDs. The Wilcoxon Signed test was further disaggregated based on sex (male and female), school funding type (public and private), and school class level (junior and senior). CONCLUSIONS PAR led to a significant increase in awareness and knowledge of HPV, knowledge of different aspects of HPV infection, and willingness to uptake the HPV vaccine. Additionally, the study has provided evidence that PAR interventions can be a viable tool in delaying sexual initiation and reducing sexual behavioural tendencies, especially in high-risk groups.

Abstract
This study was conducted to determine women's health beliefs about HPV and HPV vaccination and factors associated with health beliefs. This cross-sectional study was conducted with 300 women aged 21-64 in Turkey. Data were collected using the human papillomavirus (HPV) knowledge scale (HPV-KS) and the health belief model scale for human papillomavirus and its vaccination (HBMS-HPVV). The mean age of the women who participated in the study was 35.16 ± 9.52 years. Of them, 72.3% heard of the HPV test, 30.3% had an HPV test, 62% heard of HPV vaccination, and 9.7% had HPV vaccination. Educational level, hearing about the HPV vaccine, and HPV knowledge level were significant predictors of perceived benefit (p < .001). HPV knowledge level significantly predicted perceived susceptibility (p < .001). HPV knowledge level and hearing about HPV tests and vaccines were significant predictors of perceived severity (p < .001). A high level of education, a high level of HPV knowledge, and hearing about HPV tests and the HPV vaccine positively affect women's health beliefs. Health belief model-based education programs should be used to improve women's HPV knowledge and health beliefs about HPV and the HPV vaccine. In addition to women's health beliefs, cervical cancers can only be prevented by including the HPV vaccine in national immunization programs and increasing the coverage of HPV screening tests.

Abstract
Given the rising incidence of human papillomavirus (HPV)-related diseases, including cervical, penile, and oropharyngeal cancers, particularly among men, the implementation of comprehensive HPV vaccination strategies is necessary in South Korea. This position statement advocates the introduction of gender-neutral vaccination (GNV) in the country. It recommends the administration of the HPV vaccine to both men and women aged 9-26 years to prevent a broad spectrum of HPV-related conditions. Specifically, individuals aged 9-14 years are advised to receive two doses of the vaccine, whereas those aged 15-26 years are advised to receive three doses. The optimal age for vaccination is identified as 11-12 years old. Additionally, this statement recommends that women aged 27 years and older be vaccinated based on the discretion of healthcare providers. The introduction of GNV is essential to curb the spread of HPV and reduce the overall burden of HPV-related cancers, making it a critical public health initiative in Korea.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection significantly contributes to the global cancer burden. Understanding the factors influencing male clinical interns' willingness to promote HPV vaccination is crucial for developing effective public health strategies in China. METHODS This study employed a stratified random sampling method to select 1,980 male clinical interns from five provinces in China between January and March 2024. Data were collected on participants' demographic characteristics, HPV-related clinical experience, and knowledge. The Theory of Planned Behavior framework, encompassing attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, was used to examine factors influencing the willingness to promote the HPV vaccine. Logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify factors associated with the willingness to promote the HPV vaccine. RESULTS Among the respondents, 72.29% were willing to encourage others to receive the HPV vaccine. Significant factors influencing this willingness included older age (OR = 3.065, P ≤ 0.001), higher monthly household income (OR = 1.449, P = 0.025), participation in the diagnosis and treatment of HPV-related diseases (OR = 3.458, P ≤ 0.001), positive attitude towards the vaccine (OR = 13.503, P = 0.004), and strong perceived behavioral control (OR = 2.364, P = 0.006). CONCLUSION This study highlights the critical role of practical experience and targeted education in promoting HPV vaccination among male clinical interns in China. Enhancing the training and education of this group is essential for improving HPV vaccine advocacy and supporting public health efforts to reduce HPV-related diseases.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Declining vaccination coverage (VC) and vaccine hesitancy among medical students are global challenges. These challenges reflect individual and logistical barriers to a sufficient adherence toward essential vaccines for healthcare professionals, as well as presenting a need for educational strategies during undergraduate training. METHODS This is a prospective study for evaluating VC rates, sociodemographic associations, and the vaccine confidence among medical students at a federal university in Brazil. The data collection included questionnaires and individual analyses of the participants' vaccination records. RESULTS A total of 237 medical students from all six years of an undergraduate program participated, of whom 124 (52.3%) had a vaccination record. Although the majority considered the vaccines to be "Completely Safe" (86.9%), the VC rates for complete vaccination schedules were relatively low, ranging from 87.9% (hepatitis B vaccine) to 3.2% (meningococcal B vaccine), including the vaccines from the National Immunization Program (NIP) and the private sector. Higher VC rates were found to occur among students in the final years of their undergraduate studies, in those from families with higher monthly incomes, and those from private secondary schools. CONCLUSIONS Given the low VC rates among medical students, other factors in addition to vaccine confidence may be determinants, thus highlighting the importance of reviewing policies for the inclusion of priority groups in the NIP and in implementing educational interventions during undergraduate training.

Abstract
AIM This study aimed to determine the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of male nurses towards human papillomavirus (HPV) and HPV vaccination and to examine whether knowledge about the HPV vaccine affects attitudes and beliefs about HPV vaccines. BACKGROUND HPV is responsible for ≈5% of all cancers worldwide. Therefore, vaccination against HPV is recommended to prevent HPV infections and HPV-related cancers in men and women. METHODS The study group included 383 male nurses who were asked to complete online questionnaires. The data were collected using the following tools: a sociodeomographical characteristics form, the Human Papillomavirus Knowledge Scale (HPVKS), and The Carolina HPV Immunization Attitudes and Beliefs Scale (CHIAS). RESULTS It was determined that the general HPV knowledge of the male nurses participating in the study was at a moderate level, but their knowledge of HPV screening test, HPV vaccination, and current HPV vaccination programmes were at a low level. Male nurses' HPV vaccination rates were relatively low, and most of them did not intend to be vaccinated. In addition, CHIAS Attitudes and Beliefs scores of the male nurses were at an average level and HPV knowledge affected the attitudes and beliefs of the nurses. CONCLUSION These results demonstrate an opportunity to improve information and awareness about HPV and vaccines by nursing education.

Abstract
Background Lower- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are disproportionately impacted by human papillomavirus (HPV) and would benefit from implementing the HPV vaccine. In the context of competing health priorities, utilizing scarce domestic infrastructure and human resources for HPV vaccination remains challenging for many LMICs. Given the high benefits of the HPV vaccine, the World Health Organization (WHO) is now encouraging for all countries, particularly LMICs, to introduce HPV vaccines into their routine immunization programs. Understanding the barriers and facilitators to HPV adolescent vaccine programs in LMICs may help strengthen how LMICs implement HPV vaccine programs, in turn, increasing HPV vaccine acceptance, uptake, and coverage. Objective To identify and assess barriers and facilitators to implementing adolescent HPV vaccination programs in LMICs. Methods This study comprised a review of literature assessing adolescent HPV vaccination in LMICs published after 2020 from a sociocultural perspective. Results Overall, the findings showed that LMICs should prioritize increasing HPV vaccine availability and HPV vaccine knowledge, particularly focusing on cancer prevention, as knowledge reduces misinformation and increases vaccine acceptance. Evidence suggests that factors promoting HPV vaccine uptake include fostering low vaccine hesitancy, integrating HPV vaccination as a primary school routine vaccination, and vaccinating both genders. A one-dose HPV vaccine may enable many LMICs to increase vaccine acceptance, uptake, and coverage while controlling financial, infrastructure, and human resource costs. Conclusion As HPV is one of the leading causes of death in many LMICs, implementing the HPV vaccine may be highly beneficial. Cohesive national HPV vaccine buy-in and understanding the success and challenges of prior LMIC HPV vaccine implementation is crucial to developing effective, efficient, and sustainable HPV vaccination programs.

Abstract
As a flagship of the Europe's Beating Cancer Plan, the European Commission supports EU member states' efforts to strengthen and expand the routine vaccination of girls and boys against human papillomavirus (HPV). Populations across Europe have grown in diversity, and health systems must adapt to meet the specific needs of increasing diversity. Healthcare professionals (HCPs) must strive to communicate HPV vaccine information in a culturally sensitive manner and address specific concerns related to cultural beliefs, trust in health systems and perceived risks. The objectives of this exploratory study are to identify which themes are most frequently raised during the recommendation of vaccination to minors based on the characteristics of the population (religion, region of origin, gender, level of education and language proficiency) and to collect strategies to improve communication with a diverse population. A survey was distributed through various European public health institutions to HCPs in the region and their networks. The survey included multi-response questions (themes addressed during vaccination recommendation based on population characteristics) and open-ended questions (own qualitative comments and strategies). The most common issues that arise during vaccine recommendation are a lack of knowledge, followed by misinformation. Differences were detected according to the population characteristics. Suggested strategies to improve HPV vaccine recommendation focused on the following aspects: affordability; sexuality and gender; communication platforms; multilingualism; quality of care; school collaboration. HCPs report differences according to the characteristics of the population receiving the recommendation. Personalisation of the recommendations would help to optimise the decision-making process for some groups.

Abstract
AIM There is limited knowledge about the perceptions of HPV vaccination in middle-school children. This qualitative study aimed to explore their views. METHODS We conducted focus group interviews with children, 10-11 years of age, who had been offered HPV vaccination through the school health services in mid-north Sweden in spring of 2023. Data were analysed with qualitative content analysis. RESULTS This study included six focus group interviews with 49 children (boys n = 29; girls n = 20), mean of 11 years of age. Participating children expressed the need to feel safe to be of utmost importance and the means to do so was to be prepared and informed by someone the child trusted. The school nurse was perceived as the expert, best suited to provide factual information, support and motivation, both to children and their parents. CONCLUSION We confirm that healthcare providers' recommendations are crucial for HPV vaccine acceptance also from the child's perspective. Improved information about HPV vaccination to children is necessary. Children's right to participate on their own terms is not fulfilled today. Vaccine promotion, both to children and parents, should be actively managed by the school nurse.

Abstract
Men aged 27 to 45 are eligible for human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination as of 2019, yet relatively little is known about whether they have received or intend to receive it. We conducted a cross-sectional, online survey among fathers aged 27 to 45 between March and April 2022, to assess associations between HPV vaccination awareness, behaviors, intentions, and psychosocial constructs from the Health Belief Model. We examined the characteristics of those who had (a) heard of the HPV vaccine, (b) already received ≥ 1 dose, and (c) intentions for future vaccination among those who had never been vaccinated. Among 400 men who completed the survey, 32% were not aware of the HPV vaccine. Among those who were aware, 41% had received ≥ 1 dose. Sixty-three percent of unvaccinated men reported that they intended to get vaccinated in the future. Multivariable logistic regression analyses revealed that age and race/ethnicity were associated with having been vaccinated previously. Among the unvaccinated, multivariable logistic regression analyses revealed that those with a higher perceived risk of HPV-associated cancer had 3.73 greater odds of reporting they would seek vaccination compared to those with lower perceived risk (95% confidence interval [CI] = [1.28, 12.3]). We did not find perceived benefits, barriers, or decision self-efficacy to be related to future vaccine intentions. Since recommendations for this group include shared clinical decision-making, public health efforts should focus on raising awareness of vaccine eligibility, emphasizing risk factors for HPV-associated cancers so that individuals have an accurate perception of risk, and encouraging conversation between men and their providers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Non-AIDS-defining cancers (NADCs) in patients infected with HIV have recently attracted attention because of the improved survival of this patient population. To obtain accurate data, a longitudinal study is warranted for the nationwide surveillance of the current status and national trend of NADCs in patients infected with HIV in Japan. SETTING An annual nationwide surveillance of NADCs in patients infected with HIV-1 in Japan from 1999 to 2021. METHODS An annual questionnaire was sent to 378 HIV/AIDS referral hospitals across Japan to collect data (clusters of differentiation 4-positive lymphocytes, time of onset, outcomes, and antiretroviral therapy status) of patients diagnosed with any of the NADCs between 1999 and 2021. RESULTS The response and case-capture rates for the questionnaires in 2021 were 37.8% and 81.2%, respectively. The number of reported NADC cases subsequently increased since the beginning of this study. Evaluation of the case counts of NADCs demonstrated a high incidence of lung, colorectal, gastric, and liver cancers as the top 4 cancers. Pancreatic cancer (0.63), lung cancer (0.49), and leukemia (0.49) had the highest mortality rates among the NADCs. Trends of NADCs regarding transmission routes were maintained over the years in male individuals who have sex with male individuals compared with heterosexual male individuals and female individuals. CONCLUSIONS We demonstrated an increasing trend in the incidence of NADCs over a period of 23 years in Japan. The current data highlighted the importance of raising awareness regarding cancer management for patients infected with HIV in Japan.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We assessed whether five geographic-based socioeconomic factors (medically underserved area (MUA); healthcare provider shortage area (HPSA); persistent poverty; persistent child poverty; and social vulnerability index (SVI)) were associated with the odds of HPV vaccination initiation, series completion, and parental vaccine hesitancy, and whether the observed relationships varied by gender of the child. METHODS An online panel service, administered through Qualtrics®, was used to recruit parents of adolescents 9-17 years of age to complete a one-time survey in 2021. Coverage of the panel included five US states: Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, and Southern Illinois. Generalized estimating equation (GEE) models were used to assess population-level associations between five geographic-based socioeconomic factors (MUA; HPSA; persistent poverty; persistent child poverty; and SVI) and three HPV vaccination outcomes (initiation, series completion, and hesitancy). All GEE models were adjusted for age of child and clustering at the state level. RESULTS Analyses were conducted using responses from 926 parents about their oldest child in the target age range (9-17 years). The analytic sample consisted of 471 male children and 438 female children across the five states. In adjusted GEE models, persistent child poverty and HPSA were negatively associated with HPV vaccination initiation and series completion among female children, respectively. Among male children, high social vulnerability was negatively associated with HPV vaccine series completion. Additionally, persistent poverty and high social vulnerability were negatively associated with HPV vaccine hesitancy in male children. CONCLUSIONS The results of this cross-sectional study suggest that geographic-based socioeconomic factors, particularly, HPSA, persistent poverty, and SVI, should be considered when implementing efforts to increase HPV vaccine coverage for adolescents. The approaches to targeting these geographic factors should also be evaluated in future studies to determine if they need to be tailored for male and female children.

Abstract
Objectives Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates among males are suboptimal worldwide. In South Korea, little is known about parents' intention to vaccinate boys against HPV. Therefore, we examined the associations of HPV-related knowledge and perceptions with vaccination intention among Korean mothers of boys. Methods From August to December 2021, eligible mothers were surveyed about HPV-related knowledge, perceptions, and intention to vaccinate their sons against HPV. Mothers were categorized into no intention, contemplating, and intention to vaccinate groups. Using analysis of variance, we compared the groups' scores on the scales measuring HPV-related knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs. We conducted a multinomial logistic regression analysis to assess the associations between the variables and vaccination intention. Results Among 361 mothers, 43.9 % had no intention, 60.7 % were contemplating, and 4.4 % intended to vaccinate their sons. The mean percentage of correct answers on the HPV and vaccine knowledge scales were 52.5 % and 62.3 %, respectively. The mean scores on the HPV attitudes and beliefs subscales were significantly different. Higher scores on benefits (OR = 3.04, 95 % CI 1.96 - 4.70; OR = 3.94, 95 % CI 1.54 - 10.70) and influence (OR = 1.48, 95 % CI 1.03 - 2.13; OR = 2.97, 95 % CI 1.44 - 6.14) were associated with contemplating the vaccine and intending to vaccinate sons. Knowledge was not associated with mothers' vaccination intention. Conclusions Public health authorities and healthcare providers in Korea can use the results of this study to implement effective interventions that emphasize the importance of male HPV vaccination and encourage parent-son communication about the vaccine.

Abstract
In developed countries, vaccinations against hepatitis B (HBV), hepatitis A (HAV), and human papillomavirus (HPV) are often recommended to men who have sex with men (MSM) because of the risky sexual practices in which some engage. Vaccine coverage against these diseases is not optimal in France, probably due in part to vaccine hesitancy (VH). The overall aim of this survey among MSM was to estimate the prevalence of different grades of VH for these vaccines as well as of general VH (toward any vaccine). The specific objectives were to study the sociodemographic correlates of MSM specific and general VH and its association with vaccine uptake. A cross-sectional electronic survey (February-August 2022) collected information from 3,730 French MSM about their perceptions of HBV, HAV, and HPV and their related vaccines, to construct "specific VH" variables. Information about their past vaccination behaviors for any vaccine was used to construct a "general VH" variable, based on the World Health Organization definition. Almost 90% of MSM showed moderate or high specific VH for HBV, HAV, and/or HPV, and 54% general VH. A higher education level and comfortable financial situation were associated with lower grades of specific and general VH. Younger age was associated with less frequent specific VH and more frequent general VH. Specific VH, versus general, was more strongly associated with frequent self-reported non-vaccination against these three disease. Addressing their concerns about vaccines, improving their knowledge of vaccine-preventable sexually transmitted infections, and motivating them to get vaccinated are public health priorities.

Abstract
Introduction Despite proven efficacy, HPV vaccination coverage is still suboptimal. Factors influencing vaccination uptake are education attainment, socio-economic position, and knowledge about HPV. This study aimed to assess HPV vaccination uptake and its correlates among medical students and identify logistic-organizational barriers, knowledge, and attitudes with regard towards HPV vaccination to improve current public health vaccination strategies. Medical students, with their acquired biological knowledge, were selected as a low-risk groups for HPV vaccination uptake. This cross-sectional study was conducted using a validated questionnaire. Methods Students in their the first 3 years of study students were preferentially invited. Eventually, the invitation was extended to every medical student. Logistic multivariable regression was used to assess determinants of HPV vaccination uptake. Additional analysis explored determinants of knowledge of and attitude toward HPV vaccination. Finally, a sensitive analysis was conducted to further assess the effect of knowledge and attitude on the HPV vaccination rate. Results A total of 882 medical students participated, with 74.5% enrolled in the first 3 years of their training. HPV vaccination uptake was 55.5%, ranging from 78.5% for females to 16.5% for males. Male sex and increasing age were consistently associated with a lower vaccination uptake (males sex: OR 0.03, CI 0.02-0.05; age: OR 0.77, CI 0.68-0.88), whereasilst progress in their academic career was associated with a to higher likelihood of being vaccinated (6th year: OR 3.45, CI 1.24-9.57). These associations were confirmed when considering the knowledge of and attitude towards HPV. Additionally also, an active outreach from healthcare institutions was associated with a higher likelihood of receiving HPV vaccination (OR 1.70, CI 1.09-2.65. Conclusion HPV vaccination in medical students was higher than in the general population; however, it was still suboptimal. An active and up-to-date call strategy and extending the free-of-charge offer are essential measures for to improvinge vaccination uptake. The findings support the need to improve public health strategies and increase awareness and knowledge ofregarding HPV vaccination.

Abstract
Global trends in human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated head and neck cancers (HNC), specifically in the oropharynx subsite, have been dynamically changing, leading to new staging and treatment paradigms. Epidemiologic studies have noted regional variations in HPV-associated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC). While HPV vaccination remains the main preventative approach, vaccination policy in relation to gender neutrality is heterogeneous and particularly sparse in low- and middle-income countries, where the burden of global cancer cases and HPV-associated HNC are not well-characterized in certain regions. This review summarizes the existing literature on regional variations of HPV-associated OPSCC and gender-neutral vaccine policies. Based on available data, the incidence of HPV-associated OPSCC is highest in North America, Europe, and Oceania. As of 2022, 122 of 195 (63%) World Health Organization (WHO) member states had incorporated HPV vaccinations nationally; of these, 41 of 122 (34%) member states have introduced gender-neutral vaccine coverage. Future research is needed to describe continued evolving trends in HPV-associated OPSCC, understand underlying risk factors leading to regional variation in disease, and implement gender-neutral policy more broadly.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV)-related diseases are highly prevalent in men worldwide, comprising external anogenital condyloma, anal intraepithelial neoplasia (AIN), penile intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN), and anogenital and oropharyngeal cancers. There is exceptionally low vaccine coverage in the male population. Only 4% of men were fully vaccinated, worldwide, as of 2019. The aim of this review is to assess the impact of HPV vaccination on male disease. Three databases (MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus) and Clinical Trials.gov were searched. We included thirteen studies, eight randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and five cohorts, comprising a total of 14,239 participants. Regarding anal disease, seven studies reported HPV vaccine efficacy ranging from 91.1% to 93.1% against AIN1, and ranging from 89.6% to 91.7% against AIN2|3 and anal cancer. Five studies showed an efficacy against genital condyloma of 89.9% in HPV-naïve males, varying between 66.7% and 67.2% in intention-to-treat populations. Studies reporting no efficacy have included older participants. These results support vaccination of young men previously infected, beyond HPV-naïve males. The evidence quality was moderate to low for most outcomes, namely genital diseases. RCTs are needed to assess the efficacy of HPV vaccination on male oropharyngeal cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of two web-based decision aids designed to help parents of children aged 10-17 years and young adults aged 18-26 years make informed decisions about the HPV vaccine. METHODS The decision aids were developed according to the International Patient Decision Aid Standards (IPDAS) criteria and included information about the vaccine, probabilities of benefits and side effects, personal narratives, and values clarification. The study utilized a quasi-experimental design and included 120 Hebrew-speaking parents and 160 young adults. Participants completed baseline surveys and, two weeks after using the decision aid, completed a follow-up survey. RESULTS Both parents and young adults experienced a reduction in decisional conflict, an increase in self-efficacy, and greater confidence in the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine. The proportion of participating parents deciding to vaccinate their children against HPV increased from 46% to 75%, and the proportion of participating young adults leaning towards receiving the HPV vaccine increased from 64% to 92%. CONCLUSIONS The study highlights the importance of using decision aids to support informed decision making about vaccination and suggests that web-based decision aids may be a useful tool for supporting Israeli parents and young adults to make HPV vaccination decisions.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infects nearly 85% of sexually active Americans during their lifetime, causing most cervical and five other cancers. Routine HPV vaccination is recommended for adolescents to prevent HPV-attributable cancers, but HPV vaccination coverage remains low, especially in Tennessee. In 2021, 54.6% of the population in Shelby County, Tennessee was Black or African American, reporting higher rates of new cervical cancer cases than other counties in Tennessee. While medical and public health professionals (HPs) play a critical role in promoting vaccination coverage, little is known about the factors HPs perceive to influence HPV vaccination for this population. This study sought to explore HPs' perceived facilitators and barriers of HPV vaccination among African American adolescents. Qualitative individual interviews with 26 HPs in Shelby County were conducted between October 2019 and February 2020. Interpretive content analysis of the interview data guided by the socio-ecological model revealed several important themes regarding the facilitators and barriers across the individual, interpersonal, and community levels. At the individual level, parental vaccine hesitancy emerged as a leading barrier to HPV vaccination, while appropriate education facilitated the vaccination. At the interpersonal level, a lack of strong provider recommendations impeded HPV vaccination, whereas improved communication skills with patients facilitated the vaccination. Finally, the community-level barriers included a lack of education and social/religious norms; the community-level facilitators included community outreach efforts. HPs should consider development of comprehensive community-based approaches that leverage the facilitators and barriers at multiple levels to increase HPV vaccination among African American adolescents in this region.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the relationship between knowing that a friend or family member became ill with, or died from, COVID-19 and receiving a vaccine dose within four months of the FDA's Emergency Use Authorization. METHODS A national sample of 1,517 respondents were surveyed from April 7 to April 12, 2021, 1,193 of whom were eligible for the vaccine when the data were collected. RESULTS Respondents who knew someone who became ill with COVID-19 (AOR = 2.32, 95 % CI 1.74-3.09) or knew someone who died (AOR = 2.29, 95 % CI 1.32-3.99) from COVID-19 were more likely to receive at least a single COVID-19 vaccine dose. CONCLUSION Encouraging people to share their COVID-19 illness and bereavement experiences with their local network such as friends, families, social-networks and via social media might help increase vaccine uptake.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is responsible for many cancers in both women and men. Cervical cancer, caused by HPV, is the fourth most common cancer among women worldwide, even though it is one of the most preventable cancers. Prevention efforts include HPV vaccination, however these programs remain nascent in many countries. In 2020 the World Health Assembly adopted the Global Strategy for cervical cancer elimination including a goal to fully vaccinate 90% of girls with the HPV vaccine by the age of 15. However, very few countries have reached even 70% coverage. Increased vaccine availability in the future may allow the opportunity to vaccinate more people. This could add to the feasibility of introducing gender-neutral HPV vaccination programs. Adopting a gender-neutral HPV vaccine approach will reduce HPV infections transmitted among the population, combat misinformation, minimize vaccine-related stigma, and promote gender equity. We propose approaching programmatic research through a gender-neutral lens to reduce HPV infections and cancers and promote gender equality. In order to design more effective policies and programs, a better understanding of the perspectives of clients, clinicians, community leaders, and policy-makers is needed. A clear, multi-level understanding of these stakeholders' views will facilitate the development of target policy and programs aimed at addressing common barriers and optimizing uptake. Given the benefit of developing gender-neutral HPV vaccination programs to eliminate cervical cancer and address other HPV associated cancers, we must build knowledge through implementation research around this topic to inform policy-makers and funders for future policy shifts.

Abstract
This brief report examines the relationship, if any, between human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) status, and individual-level and socio-sexual partner-level factors of social determinants of health (SDOH) that are associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) knowledge and vaccine uptake in young sexual minority men (YSMM). We used data from 126 YSMM recruited by network-based sampling during 2015-2016 in Houston, Texas. Descriptive statistics and regression analyses were conducted to test the association between HIV status, SDOH, and HPV knowledge and vaccine uptake. Those living with HIV had lower odds of knowledge of HPV-associated anal cancer (OR: 0.43, 95% CI: 0.18-0.97) and knowledge of HPV spreading via sexual contact (OR: 0.11, 95% CI: 0.01-0.64), and higher odds of HPV vaccine uptake (OR: 2.90, 95% CI: 1.11-8.02). HPV knowledge and vaccine uptake in YSMM was not associated with partner's attributes or individuals' SDOH factors in our study yet was significantly associated with HIV status. Future interventions are needed to increase HPV knowledge among individuals living with HIV and vaccine uptake particularly among YSMM living without HIV that are not engaged in healthcare.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually acquired infection in the US. Vaccination is effective against infection with high-risk HPV strains, yet HPV vaccine coverage is lower in the US than the national target. This study aimed to determine the relationship between sexual behaviors and HPV vaccination in a heterosexually active population at increased risk for HIV infection. Data from 380 participants aged 18-45 years obtained from the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance system increased risk heterosexuals cycle 5 (2019) in Houston, Texas, was analyzed. RDS-Analyst was used to generate population-based descriptive statistics. Modified Poisson regression models clustered on recruitment chain were conducted in SAS 9.4 to assess the relationship between sexual behaviors and HPV vaccination. Only 11.5% of participants had received at least one dose of the HPV vaccine. Regarding behaviors within the past 12 months, 44.8% reported having condomless casual sex, 51.3% reported having concurrent sexual partnerships while in their most recent relationship, 14.5% reported exchanging sex, and participants had an average of 4-5 sex partners. Further, those who exchanged sex had a significantly lower prevalence of HPV vaccine uptake when compared to those who did not exchange sex (adjusted prevalence ratio 0.23; confidence interval 0.10-0.52), while all other measures of sexual behavior were not significantly associated with HPV vaccination. More research is needed to understand the relationship between exchange sex and low prevalence of vaccination, specifically in women who bear the highest burden of poor HPV-related morbidity and mortality.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines effectively prevent, and can even eliminate, HPV-related cancers. Currently, vaccination rates are suboptimal in the national Swedish school-based vaccination program. School nurses play a key role in all aspects of the vaccination process. Therefore, this study aims to explore school nurses' perceived HPV vaccination challenges. METHODS Seven focus group interviews were conducted with school nurses (n = 35) working in nine socio-demographically diverse municipalities in mid-Sweden. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. RESULTS Participants described difficulties in encountering and handling the diversity of reasons for vaccine hesitancy. Parents known to be skeptical of vaccines in general were seen as most difficult to reach. Uncertainty was expressed concerning the extent of professional responsibility for vaccine promotion. The informants expressed a lack of guidelines for vaccine promotion and described challenges in supporting the child's own wishes. Creating a safe space for the individual child was seen as crucial. Other problems described were the challenges of overcoming children's fear of needles, supporting unvaccinated children, and being confronted with the remaining gender inequities of the pan-gender vaccination program. CONCLUSIONS Our results suggest that school nurses, especially those new to their profession, may benefit from training and guidance22 material on how to address vaccine hesitancy.

Abstract
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is of paramount importance to reduce HPV-associated cancers in both genders. In South Korea, the prophylactic vaccine is recognized as prevention of cervical cancer with little attention given to male HPV vaccination. The purpose of this study was to explore perceptions of male HPV vaccination and underlying factors for vaccine hesitancy among mothers of unvaccinated boys in Seoul, Korea using a qualitative method. We used a purposive sampling strategy to recruit mothers of unvaccinated middle school-aged boys living in one of the 25 districts in Seoul, supplemented by a snowball sampling approach. We conducted one-on-one telephone interviews with ten mothers using a semi-structured interview guide. Questions probed mothers' views on vaccinating boys against HPV and the reasons for not vaccinating their sons. We found that mothers were hesitant to vaccinate their sons against HPV due to high out-of-pocket costs, fear of side effects concerning the young age of their sons, and low awareness of HPV and HPV vaccine, all of which stemmed from the exclusion of male HPV vaccination in the national immunization program. Sociocultural factors, including vaccination norms, lack of HPV education, and values associated with sexually transmitted infections were also likely to negatively impact mothers' vaccination decision-making. Despite the barriers, mothers were willing to accept HPV vaccination when it was framed as cancer prevention for not only the sons but also their future spouses. In conclusion, reasons for Korean mothers' hesitancy for their sons' HPV vaccine uptake were multifaceted. Healthcare providers' role in emphasizing and conveying the importance of gender-neutral HPV vaccination will be essential to alleviate negative sentiments around the vaccine for boys and reduce their risk of compromised sexual health. As an effective public health strategy, tailored cancer prevention messages should be delivered heightening significant benefits of the HPV vaccine beyond the prevention of cervical cancer.

Abstract
Penile cancer is a rare malignancy and usually refers to penile squamous cell carcinoma (PSCC), which accounts for more than 95% of all penile malignancies. Although organ-sparing surgery is an effective treatment for early-stage PSCC, surgical intervention alone is often not curative for advanced PSCC with metastases to the inguinal and/or pelvic lymph nodes; thus, systemic therapy is required (usually platinum-based chemotherapy and surgery combined). However, chemotherapy for PSCC has proven to be of limited efficacy and is often accompanied by high toxicity, and patients with advanced PSCC usually have poor prognosis. The limited treatment options and poor prognosis indicate the unmet need for advanced PSCC. Immune-based therapies have been approved for a variety of genitourinary and squamous cell carcinomas but are rarely reported in PSCC. To date, several studies have reported high expression of PDL1 in PSCC, supporting the potential application of immune checkpoint inhibitors in PSCC. In addition, human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is highly prevalent in PSCC and plays a key role in the carcinogenesis of HPV-positive PSCC, suggesting that therapeutic HPV vaccine may also be a potential treatment modality. Moreover, adoptive T cell therapy (ATC) has also shown efficacy in treating advanced penile cancer in some early clinical trials. The development of new therapeutics relies on understanding the underlying biological mechanisms and processes of tumor initiation, progression and metastasis. Therefore, based on the interest, we reviewed the tumor immune microenvironment and the emerging immunotherapy for penile cancer.

Abstract
Men should not be overlooked in research on human papillomavirus (HPV) and its associated genital diseases. This is because men infected with HPV are not only at higher risk of genital cancers, but also increase their partners' risk of HPV infection and reinfection through sexual contact. Herein, we summarized the state of knowledge regarding the prevention and treatment of HPV infection in men as well as the possible effects of the prevention and treatment of HPV in men on their female partners. Condom use, smoking cessation, male circumcision, and HPV vaccination for men each play an important role in preventing HPV infection within heterosexual couples. Additionally, men could choose to test for certain types of HPV, such as the oncogenic HPV16 or HPV18 strains, as part of a routine screening program when their partner is positive for HPV. Although there is no recognized treatment for HPV infection as of yet, immunotherapy drugs, such as toll-like receptor agonists, therapeutic HPV vaccines, and immune checkpoint inhibitors, have shown promising results in clinical trials and in actual clinical practice. HPV infection in men also increases the risk of cervical cancer in their female partners. Because of the high partner concordance for HPV demonstrated in prior research, the prevention and treatment of HPV in men should be explored more comprehensively in future research.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is one of the most effective public health measures for preventing HPV-related cancers and other diseases. However, vaccination coverage is not at the desired level, especially among men. In this context, we aimed to determine HPV vaccination rates, barriers, and some related demographic and personal factors among male university students in Turkey. We shared an online questionnaire prepared by the authors in line with the relevant literature on social media platforms and included 1723 male university students in this cross-sectional study. Only 4.9% of the students stated that they were vaccinated against HPV, and the most important obstacle to vaccination was not knowing when to be vaccinated (49.5%). Additionally, marital status, sexual orientation, chronic diseases, family history of cervical cancer, and having heard of HPV were significant predictors of HPV vaccination.

Abstract
Background Human Papillomavirus (HPV) occurs in 80% of the sexually active population and may cause certain types of cancers among men and women. Vaccination against HPV could prevent cancers associated with HPV. The Dutch National Immunization Program (NIP) only includes HPV vaccination for girls, but the HPV vaccination for boys will be implemented in 2022. Little is known about the awareness of parents and their attitudes regarding the vaccination for boys. However, these concepts might influence the intention to vaccinate one’s child. Gaining insight in these factors could lead to more effective communication strategies. Methods This qualitative research aimed to explore parental associations and beliefs regarding the HPV vaccination for boys. In total, 16 interviews were conducted with parents. Topics discussed were primary associations with vaccinations, associations with HPV-vaccination and information needs regarding the HPV vaccination for boys. Results Most parents were unaware about HPV infections in boys as well as the possibility to vaccinate their sons. Furthermore, after hearing about the vaccine parents reported uncertainties about anticipated adverse effects of the vaccine. Other themes that emerged were difficulties with the proposed age at which boys would be offered the vaccination and low risk perception of the virus. Conclusion Public campaigns regarding (the HPV) vaccination should improve (parental) awareness about the virus and the vaccination, and increase knowledge. Moreover, it should address concerns regarding vaccination and be transparent about decision making. For example, a rationale why HPV vaccination is needed for boys who turn 10 years and its advantage to reducing risks for boys to contract HPV related cancers should be provided. Abstract
BACKGROUND Human papillomavirus (HPV) is epidemic among young people, especially those at highest risk of acquiring HPV-related cancers. METHODS Youth aged 14-24 years old (N = 1628) were recruited from 13 clinics, community agencies, and social media sites in Los Angeles, California, and New Orleans, Louisiana, that specialized in serving sexual and gender minority youths (SGMY), especially males at risk for HIV. A cross-sectional comparison of sociodemographic and risk histories of HPV vaccinated/unvaccinated youths was conducted using both univariate and multivariate regressions. RESULTS About half (51.9%) of youth were vaccinated, with similar percentages across states and across genders. Sexual and gender minority youths (SGMY, i.e., gay, bisexual, transgender, and non-heterosexual; 68.8%) and their heterosexual peers (15%) were equally likely to be vaccinated (54%), even though their risk for HPV-related cancers is very different. Vaccinations were higher among younger youth, those not using condoms, youth with greater education, that possessed a primary health care provider, and youth diagnosed with HIV. Vaccinations were lower among youth that were out-of-home due to mental health inpatient hospitalization, drug treatment, homelessness, or incarceration. CONCLUSIONS Special programs are required to target youth experiencing multiple life stressors, especially out-of-home experiences, those with less education, and without the safety net of health insurance or a provider.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection drives tumorigenesis in almost all cervical cancers and a fraction of vulvar and penile cancers. Due to increasing incidence and low vaccination rates, many will still have to face HPV-related morbidity and mortality in the upcoming years. Current treatment options (i.e., surgery and/or chemoradiation) for urogenital (pre-)malignancies can have profound psychosocial and psychosexual effects on patients. Moreover, in the setting of advanced disease, responses to current therapies remain poor and nondurable, highlighting the unmet need for novel therapies that prevent recurrent disease and improve clinical outcome. Immunotherapy can be a useful addition to the current therapeutic strategies in various settings of disease, offering relatively fewer adverse effects and potential improvement in survival. This review discusses immune evasion mechanisms accompanying HPV infection and HPV-related tumorigenesis and summarizes current immunotherapeutic approaches for the treatment of HPV-related (pre-)malignant lesions of the uterine cervix, vulva, and penis.

Abstract
While many European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA) countries recently expanded human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination to boys, HPV vaccine supply is currently limited for girls in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) that are severely affected by HPV.Globally, about 50% of countries have introduced HPV vaccination. Some LMIC with high burden of cervical cancer have not yet introduced HPV vaccination, or are reaching suboptimal vaccination coverage. While WHO issued a call for cervical cancer elimination in 2018, a global shortage of HPV vaccines is currently predicted to last at least until 2024.We reviewed national policies of EU/EEA countries and recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on immunisation to discuss current challenges and dose-sparing options. Several EU/EEA countries have extended HPV vaccination to boys and the European Cancer Organisation has issued a resolution for elimination of all HPV-associated cancers in both sexes. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control concluded in its 2020 guidance that cost-effectiveness of extending routine vaccination to boys depends on several context-specific factors. The extension of HPV vaccination to boys in EU/EEA countries may affect global availability of vaccines. Temporary dose-sparing options could be considered during the COVID-19 post-pandemic period.

Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a virus with the potential to infect human epithelial cells and an etiological agent of many types of cancer, including head and neck cancer. The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of HPV infection in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), patients with chronic tonsillitis, and healthy individuals, and to establish high- and low-risk HPV genotypes in these groups. The objectives also comprised the delineation of the relationship between the infection with high- or low-risk HPV subtypes and clinicopathological and demographic characteristics of the study groups. This study was composed of 76 patients diagnosed with HNSCC, 71 patients with chronic tonsillitis, and 168 cases without either of these conditions (the control group). HPV detection and identification of subtypes were performed on isolated DNA using a test which allowed detection of 33 common high-risk and low-risk HPV subtypes. The prevalence of HPV infection was 42.1%, 25.4%, and 37.5% in HNSCC, chronic tonsillitis, and control groups, respectively. HPV 16 was the most prevalent genotype in all groups and the non-oncogenic HPV 43/44 was frequent in HNSCC patients. This analysis provides insight into the prevalence of oral oncogenic and non-oncogenic HPVs in patients with head and neck cancer, patients with chronic tonsillitis and healthy individuals, and leads to the conclusion that further investigations are warranted to examine a larger cohort of patients focusing on high- and low-risk HPV genotypes. Efforts should be focused on screening and prevention strategies, and therefore, it is important to introduce tools for effective detection of HPV genotypes. Furthermore, given the role of vaccines against oral HPV infection, our observations lead to the suggestion that HPV vaccination should be of considerable importance in public health strategies.
