Abstract
This study evaluated the effects of silymarin on acetaminophen-induced acute liver and kidney toxicities in domestic pigeons (Columba livia). Standard colorimetric methods with commercial kits were used to measure the serum activities or levels of biomarkers associated with liver and kidney damage, such as aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, urea, uric acid, total protein, albumin, and total cholesterol, in 21 pigeons randomly assigned into 3 groups (A, B, and C). Groups A and B were administered acetaminophen 3000 mg/ kg PO q24h at the beginning of the experiment (hour 0). Group B pigeons were further treated with silymarin 35 mg/kg, starting at 12 hours after acetaminophen exposure (post-AA), with the silymarin treatment continuing q12h for 3 days. Group C pigeons served as the control group and were given tap water as the placebo. Blood was collected from the pigeons at hours 0, 12, 24, 48, and 72 of the experiment for serum biochemistry analyses. The results showed that treatment of group B pigeons with silymarin decreased the serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, urea, and uric acid compared with the untreated control (group A). It also prevented decreases in serum alkaline phosphatase, total protein, albumin, and cholesterol seen in Group A. Mortality, which was 86% in the untreated control (group A), was completely prevented in group B. It was concluded that silymarin remediated the effects of acetaminophen-induced acute toxic liver and kidney injuries, which may result in pigeon mortality.

Abstract
This study is aimed at evaluating the preventive effect and at suggesting the mode of actions of naringin and hesperidin and their combination in diclofenac-induced hepatotoxicity. Male Wistar rats, intraperitoneally injected with diclofenac sodium (3 mg/kg b.wt/day), were orally treated with naringin (20 mg/kg b.wt/day) and hesperidin (20 mg/kg b.wt/day) and their combination for 4 weeks. The administrations of naringin and hesperidin to diclofenac-injected rats led to a significant decrease in the elevated serum ALT, AST, LDH, ALP, GGT, total bilirubin, TNF-α, and IL-17 levels as well as liver lipid peroxidation and liver p53 and caspase-3 mRNA expressions. In contrast, serum IL-4 level, liver GSH content, and liver GPx and SOD activities increased. In association, diclofenac-induced deleterious histological alterations including hydropic degeneration, cytoplasmic vacuolization, apoptosis, and focal hepatic necrosis of hepatocytes associated with inflammatory cells’ infiltration were remarkably improved by treatments with naringin and hesperidin. In conclusion, naringin, hesperidin, and their combination, which was the most potent, counteract diclofenac-induced liver injury via antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic actions. Thus, this study recommends the use of naringin and hesperidin or their combination to resolve the side effects of drugs like diclofenac on the liver.

Abstract
Zizyphus lotus L. (Desf.) (Z. lotus) is a medicinal plant largely distributed all over the Mediterranean basin and is traditionally used by Moroccan people to treat many illnesses, including kidney failure. The nephrotoxicity of gentamicin (GM) has been well documented in humans and animals, although the preventive strategies against it remain to be studied. In this investigation, we explore whether the extract of Zizyphus lotus L. (Desf.) Fruit (ZLF) exhibits a protective effect against renal damage produced by GM. Indeed, twenty-four Wistar rats were separated into four equal groups of six each (♂/♀ = 1). The control group was treated orally with distilled water (10 mL/kg); the GM treated group received distilled water (10 mL/kg) and an intraperitoneal injection of GM (80 mg/kg) 3 h after; and the treated groups received ZLF extract orally at the doses 200 or 400 mg/kg and injected intraperitoneally with the GM. All treatments were given daily for 14 days. At the end of the experiment, the biochemical parameters and the histological observation related the kidney function was explored. ZLF treatment has significantly attenuated the nephrotoxicity induced by the GM. This effect was indicated by its capacity to decrease significantly the serum creatinine, uric acid, urea, alkaline phosphatase, gamma-glutamyl-transpeptidase, albumin, calcium, sodium amounts, water intake, urinary volume, and relative kidney weight. In addition, this effect was also shown by the increase in the creatinine clearance, urinary creatinine, uric acid, and urea levels, weight gain, compared to the rats treated only with the GM. The hemostasis of oxidants/antioxidants has been significantly improved with the treatment of ZLF extract, which was shown by a significant reduction in malondialdehydes levels. Histopathological analysis of renal tissue was correlated with biochemical observation. Chemical analysis by HPLC-DAD showed that the aqueous extract of ZLF is rich in phenolic compounds such as 3-hydroxycinnamic acid, catechin, ferulic acid, gallic acid, hydroxytyrosol, naringenin, p- coumaric Acid, quercetin, rutin, and vanillic acid. In conclusion, ZLF extract improved the nephrotoxicity induced by GM, through the improvement of the biochemical and histological parameters and thus validates its ethnomedicinal use.

Abstract
Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a debilitating and life-threatening disease. Results from acute or chronic liver failure and is characterized by abnormal cerebral and neurological alterations. This study aimed at investigating the effect of allicin, the major functional component in freshly crushed garlic extract, on thioacetamide (TAA)-induced HE in rats. Induction of HE by a single dose of TAA (300 mg/kg; I.P.) was associated with a marked elevation in the serum levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, bilirubin, albumin, total protein, blood urea nitrogen and serum ammonia besides reduction in the serum level of albumin. Moreover, it was accompanied with an increase in the hepatic and brain levels of inflammatory mediators; TNF-α and IL-1β as well as elevation of the hepatic and brain levels of oxidative stress biomarkers; reduced glutathione and lipid peroxidation evidenced by malondialdeyde. Oral administration of allicin (50, 100 and 200 mg/kg; P.O.) for 6 days prior to TAA injection restored the serum liver function, hepatic and brain levels of inflammatory mediators as well as oxidative stress biomarkers in a dose-dependent manner. From our results, it can be concluded that allicin has a protective effect on TAA-induced HE in rats in a dose-dependent manner due to its powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Abstract
This study evaluated the ameliorative potential of grape seed extract (GSE) against Ehrlich solid tumor (EST)-induced hepatic tissue alterations in mice. The control group was infused with physiological saline. The second group received GSE (50 mg/kg day by day orally) for 2 weeks. The third group was subcutaneously injected with 2.5 million of EST cells. The fourth group was injected with EST cells and treated with GSE extract simultaneously. The fifth group was injected with EST cells and kept for 2 weeks until the appearance of a solid tumor, then treated with GSE for 2 weeks. The phytochemical analysis of GSE revealed the presence of total phenols (17.442 mg GAE/g) and total flavonoid (6.687 mg CE/g) with antioxidant activity of 81.506 mg TE/g DPPH. The Ehrlich solid tumor significantly raised the activities of ALT, AST, and ALP; the level of alpha fetoprotein (AFP) in serum; and the protein expressions of hepatic proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and tumor suppressor protein (P53), as well as induced DNA damage and pathological alterations in liver tissue. However, it significantly reduced serum albumin and total protein levels. In contrast, the co- or post-treatment of EST-bearing mice with GSE reduced the activities of ALT, AST, and ALP; the level AFP in serum; and hepatic P53 and PCNA protein expressions. In addition, it reduced EST-induced hepatic DNA damage and pathological alterations, while it increased serum albumin and total protein levels. This study suggested that GSE is a potent hepatoprotective agent and both co- and post-treatment of EST-bearing mice with GSE almost had the same effects.

Abstract
The study aimed to evaluate the differential expression of HSF1 and GM-CSF mRNA in PBMCs and correlate it with myocardial injury in crossbred Jersey heifers during heat stress. The study also assessed the effect of heat stress on cardiac electrical activity, vascular health, liver function and kidney function. The experiment was conducted in two phases: for heat stressed animals; HS in June (THI ranged from 80.0 to 89.8) and for control group i.e. not exposed to heat stress in January (THI ranged between 70.1 and 71.4). Results of the study revealed that the relative abundance of HSF1 and GM-CSF mRNA increased significantly (P < 0.05) in HS. Serum cardiac biomarkers such as CK-MB, AST and CRP were significantly elevated (P < 0.05) in HS. cTnI was detected 'positive' in nineteen out of twenty four cases in HS. Correlation of HSF1 and GM-CSF expression with concentration of LDH, CKMB, CRP and AST in HS was negative but non-significant (P > 0.05). Significant (P < 0.05) ECG findings in HS were increased heart rate, decreased RR interval, decreased PR interval, decreased QRS amplitude and decreased amplitude of P wave. Marked reduction (P < 0.05) in serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels was observed in HS. ALP, AST, bilirubin and urea levels in serum were significantly elevated (P < 0.05) in HS. In conclusion, cardiac enzymes in serum were significantly elevated in HS indicating myocardial injury. HSF1 and GM-CSF mRNA expression alone was inadequate in conferring cytoprotection to cardiac cells in HS. Cardiac electrical activity, vascular status, liver and kidney function were significantly altered in HS.

Abstract
Supplying newborn calves with immunoglobins is critical for their health and a daily challenge in the dairy industry. Among various factors determining colostrum quality, the prepartum metabolic status of the cow might be of particular importance. The objective of this observational cross-sectional study was to evaluate relationships between cow-level variables and the colostrum quality as determined by Brix refractometry. A total of 873 cows of varying breed and parity from 124 German dairy herds were included in the study, and blood and urine samples were taken 3 to 1 wk before the expected calving date. Effectively, samples were collected on average 8.2 d (geometric mean) before calving, ranging from 2 to 45 d. The final variable set included body condition score, lameness score, breed, parity, vaccination of the cow, the activity of glutamate dehydrogenase and aspartate aminotransferase, the urine concentration of creatinine, net acid-base excretion, the serum concentration of cholesterol and calcium, and the difference in albumin and total protein concentration. Generalized linear mixed effects regression models with hierarchically structured random effects (cow within herd) using the maximum likelihood method were fitted to the data to identify associations between the Brix value as an outcome and cow-level variables as predictors. Cows entering second parity had lower Brix values compared with cows entering third or greater parity, and prepartum vaccination of cows led to higher Brix values compared with nonvaccinated cows. Cows with a moderate to high lameness score had lower Brix values than cows with low-grade lameness. An increase of glutamate dehydrogenase serum activity and serum calcium concentration were associated with lower Brix values, whereas an increase in the difference of total protein and albumin serum concentration led to higher Brix values. In conclusion, the metabolic health of the cow affects colostrum quality and may cause failure of passive immunoglobulin transfer as well as impaired calf health.

Abstract
Silicon dioxide nanoparticles (SiO2 NPs) are extensively used in cosmetics, food, and drug delivery. The main mechanism of SiO2 NPs toxicities depends on oxidative stress. Ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer) is used in various medicinal applications because of its antioxidant efficiency. Therefore, the present study was carried out to investigate the possible combated role of ginseng against SiO2 NPs toxicity in rat liver. Thirty-five male rats (160-180 g) were allocated into five groups of seven rats each, randomly. The first group was used as a control while groups 2, 3, 4, and 5 were treated orally with ginseng (Gin; 75 mg/kg, 1/10 LD50 ), SiO2 NPs, (200 mg/kg, 1/10 LD50 ), Gin + SiO2 NPs (protection group), and SiO2 NPs + Gin (therapeutic group) for 5 weeks, respectively. Treatment with SiO2 NPs increased lipid peroxidation, liver function enzymes, and decreased antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT, GPx, GST) activity and non-enzymatic antioxidant (GSH) level. SiO2 NPs administration motivated liver apoptosis as revealed by the upregulation of the apoptotic genes, Bcl2-associated x protein (Bax), and Beclin 1 and downregulation of the anti-apoptotic gene, B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl2) as well as increase in DNA damage. Also, SiO2 NPs administration caused inflammation as indicated by upregulation of the inflammation-related genes (interleukin 1 beta [IL1β], tumor necrosis factor-alpha [TNFα], nuclear factor kappa B [NFκB], cyclooxygenase 2 [Cox2], transforming growth factor-beta 1 [TGFβ1]) as well as cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase of liver cells. Moreover, histopathological examination proved the biochemical and molecular perturbations occurred due to SiO2 NPs toxicity. On the other hand, ginseng caused a significant modulation on the deleterious effects induced by SiO2 NPs in rat liver. In conclusion, ginseng has a potent preventive effect than the therapeutic one and might be used in the treatment of SiO2 NPs hepatotoxicity.

Abstract
Estuarine environmental have been reported to undergo significant fluctuations in oxygen concentrations with hypoxic conditions and subsequent re-oxygenation events being of significant concern for resident fish populations. In this study we assessed the toxicological effects of hypoxia and re-oxygenation on the liver of hypoxia-sensitive spotted sea bass (Lateolabrax maculatus) that were exposed to hypoxia (1.17 mg/L dissolved oxygen) for 12 h and then re-oxygenated for 12 h. The activities of glutamic-pyruvic transaminase and glutamic-oxalacetic transaminase in serum significantly increased under hypoxia (p < 0.05) and continued to increase during re-oxygenation (p < 0.05), indicating that normal liver function might be disrupted by hypoxia and might become worse during re-oxygenation for 12h. Total protein, albumin, and globulin levels in serum decreased under hypoxia but began to return to normal during re-oxygenation, showing that protein synthesis in the liver decreased during hypoxia but could be restored by re-oxygenation. We also used RNA-Seq technology to identify changes in gene expression in the liver during hypoxia and re-oxygenation. Transcriptome sequencing revealed that the hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF-1) signaling pathway, apoptosis, and purine metabolism transcripts were significantly enriched under hypoxia and re-oxygenation conditions. A total of 15 and 16 apoptosis-related genes were induced by hypoxia and re-oxygenation stress, respectively. The apoptosis index increased from the normal to the hypoxic condition and was highest under re-oxygenation. Additionally, 19 and 29 genes, that are involved in purine metabolism in the liver of L. maculatus during hypoxia and re-oxygenation, respectively, were dysregulated. Unexpectedly, the serum uric acid level significantly increased during hypoxia and significantly decreased under re-oxygenation, indicating the presence of purine metabolic disorder in the liver of L. maculatus. These results illustrate that hypoxia poses a pronounced threat to hepatocyte function in L. maculatus and that liver damage is difficult to reverse with 12 h of re-oxygenation, and it may actually become worse when re-oxygenation is established.

Abstract
This study evaluated the uterine and fetal morphometric changes and fetal membrane fluids biochemistry across the gestation of Yankasa sheep. The amniotic and allantoic fluids are actively involved in the constant physiologic exchange between the fetus and maternal circulation. Hence, the knowledge regarding changes in the composition of fetal membrane fluids is important for understanding fetal metabolism, and the diagnosis of pathophysiological conditions during gestation. Gravid uteri from 37 ewes and their corresponding ovaries were sampled. The number and size of the placentomes in the second and third terms of gestation were significantly higher relative to the first term. The total protein, albumin, glucose, urea, creatinine, and calcium levels as well as alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activities were higher in the allantoic fluid. In the allantoic fluid, the levels of total protein, globulin, and the activity levels of ALT and AST increased progressively with the advancement of gestation; contrarily, the levels of calcium, chloride, and the activity level of ALT decreased. For the amniotic fluid, the levels of total protein, globulin, urea, calcium, and the enzyme activities in the second and third terms did not differ but were higher than the level in the first term of gestation. In addition, the most significant increases in creatinine level and white blood cell count were observed in the third term of gestation. Therefore, notable differences in the levels of ALT, AST, total proteins, glucose, urea, creatinine, and WBC counts were observed in the two fetal membrane fluids.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The novel inflammatory markers C-reactive protein to albumin ratio (CAR), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) were associated with the disease activity of many autoimmune diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of these new inflammatory indexes with relapsing polychondritis disease activity index (RPDAI). METHODS The data of relapsing polychondritis (RP) patients hospitalized between 2004 and 2020 at Peking Union Medical College Hospital were collected. One of the exclusive criteria was that RP patients overlapped with other diseases. Another was the RP patients with incomplete data. A total of 170 RP patients and 170 healthy controls (HCs) were included. The association of new inflammatory makers with RPDAI was assessed by Spearman's correlation analysis. RESULTS Compared to HCs, the CAR, NLR, and PLR were significantly higher in RP patients (both p < 0.001). The CAR, NLR, PLR, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and neutrophil counts in peripheral blood positively correlated with RPDAI. Blood albumin, lymphocyte count, hemoglobin (Hb) negatively correlated with RPDAI. The association of CAR, NLR, and PLR with RPDAI was demonstrated by Spearman's correlation analysis. CONCLUSION The novel inflammatory markers CAR, NLR and PLR were associated with RPDAI. Key Points • This is the first research to explore the association of CAR, NLR, and PLR with disease activity in patients with RP • CAR, NLR, and PLR are positively correlated with RPDAI • CAR, NLR, and PLR might be the potential predictors of disease activity in RP.

Background
Gymnema sylvestre is a reputable medicinal plant commonly explore for the management of diabetes and other ailments in traditional medicine. In the present study, we investigated the phytochemical compositions and effect of crude extract, hexane, and ethyl-acetate fractions of Gymnema sylvestre on biochemical and hematological parameters of Wistar rats.
Methods
Albino rats were distributed randomly into a control group and nine treatment groups orally administered crude extract and fractions of Gymnema sylvestre (100, 300, and 600 mg/kg BW) for 21 days. Liver and kidney function indices, as well as hematological parameters, were monitored.
Results
Our results revealed that the crude methanol extract contains flavonoids (8.56 ± 0.50 mg/g), alkaloids (13.84 ± 0.67 mg/g), total phenol (1.98 ± 0.50 mg/g), saponins (23.85 ± 0.35 mg/g) and tannins (16.00 ± 0.34 mg/g). The crude methanol, ethyl acetate and n-hexane fractions of Gymnema sylvestre had LD50 greater than 5000 mg/kg BW in acute oral toxicity test. The extract and fractions at 300 and 600 mg/kg BW cause loss of body weight of the rats, significantly altered (p < 0.05) the levels of biochemical indices including the aspartate transaminases, alanine transaminase, alkaline phosphates, bilirubin, proteins, urea, creatinine, and white blood cells (WBC) counts when compared with the non-treated control. However, the extract and fractions at 100 mg/kg BW did not cause any significant (p > 0.05) alterations to the levels of biochemical and hematological parameters when compared with the non-treated control.
Conclusion
Gymnema sylvestre at sub-acute doses of 300 and 600 mg/kg BW could compromise the functional integrity of the rats’ liver and kidney. The study, therefore, suggested the use of Gymnema sylvestre for oral remedy at a dose of 100 mg/kg or below.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hybridization of coumarin moiety with additional antitumor pharmacophores is an auspicious stratagem to afford precious therapeutic interference for the medication of cancer. OBJECTIVE The present study aimed to evaluate the antitumor activity of ethyl 4-(7-hydroxy-4-methyl-2- oxoquinolin-1-ylamino)-coumarin-3-carboxylate against Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma (EAC) cells in the peritoneal cavity of female mice. METHODOLOGY Molecular docking was used to predict the binding between the test compound and the receptor of breast cancer mutant 3HB5-oxidoreductase, as well as the viability of tumor cells and life span prolongation. The total anti-oxidant capacity was evaluated in the liver and kidneys. Serum alanine transaminase, aspartate transaminase, albumin, total protein, creatinine, and urea were estimated. The concentrations of Bcl-2 and Bax were measured in the liver and kidney tissues. Histopathological examination of the liver and kidney tissues was also carried out. RESULTS EAC-bearing mice injected with the test compound showed a highly significant decrease in tumor cell viability by 100%, compared to the EAC control. Also, it exhibited significant anti-oxidant and apoptotic agents through the results of total anti-oxidant capacity and apoptosis assays. Confirmed by histological examination, the results of the liver and kidney function tests revealed that the test compound had no harmful effect on either of the organs. The docking investigation disclosed an auspicious interaction between the test compound and the receptor (3HB5). To confirm these results, correlations between different parameters were carried out. It was found that there were significant positive and negative correlations between the parameters. CONCLUSION Hybrid molecules containing coumarin and quinolinone exhibited a potential antitumor effect against EAC cells by the induction of apoptosis and anti-oxidant activities. Results of liver and kidney function tests and the histopathological study revealed that the administration of the test compound nullified most of the pathological alterations induced by EAC cells in mice. Based on these findings, the test compound can be developed as an effective chemotherapeutic agent.

Abstract
Nanoparticles can be toxic and put human and animals' life at risk. The present work was carried out to evaluate the possible immunosuppressive effects of water borne iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) and the FeCl3 on immune components of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Fish were exposed to a series of chronic levels of 25%, 50%, and 75% of IONPs LC50 96 h concentration (referred to as control, NP1, NP2, and NP3 respectively) or FeCl3 (same concentrations as IONPs referred to as S1, S2, and S3 respectively) for 21 days. Results revealed alterations in blood parameters, where IONPs significantly decreased number of white blood cells at all concentrations. Glucose and cortisol increased in all exposed fish after 21 days, suggesting activation of the maintenance mechanism cascade against a chronic stressor. IONPs or FeCl3 significantly accumulated in liver tissue of exposed fish. Immune responses were remarkably decreased in serum and skin mucus in response to IONPs or FeCl3. These components were at lowest levels in fish exposed to the highest concentrations of IONPs and FeCl3. The findings of the present study suggested that IONPs is accumulated in fish liver and intestine, where they may exhibit immunotoxicity.

Abstract
Immunoglobulin (IgM) is the primary immunoglobulin essential for defense mechanisms in fish. It is difficult to reliably quantify IgM because a lack of standardization in methodology and limited availability of commercially reagents. In the present study, a polyclonal antibody was developed for the specific detection and quantification of IgM in Labeo rohita. Recombinant bicistronic NanoDNA plasmid (RBND Vac) encoding the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase gene of Edwarsiella tarda conjugated with poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) - Chitosan (PLGA-Chit) was developed and its potential as a DNA vaccine, to prevent the infection of E. tarda in L. rohita was investigated. Two treatment groups [T1 - (PLGA-Chit-NPs-pDNA), T2 - (PLGA-NPs-pDNA) and one control group (T0 - 1 × PBS)] were utilized. Polyclonal antibody was developed to estimate IgM titers in the serum and mucosal associated tissues (MAT) using Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) technique. Additionally, immune gene expression was studied using qRT-PCR. Vaccinated groups also exhibited a significant increase in the total serum protein, globulin concentration and relatively less mortality was observed in T1 group. IgM level in serum and mucosal tissues (skin, gill and gut) increased significantly days post vaccination compared to control group, also non-specific immune parameters (myeloperoxidase and lysozyme levels) showed significant improvement in vaccinated fish. Furthermore, histopathological examination confirmed minor damage in physiological structure of kidney and liver tissues in vaccinated fish. Knowledge of the immunoglobulin in L. rohita primed with RBND Vac complex provides the better protection against E. tarda. The normal physiology findings of this study will aid in monitoring changes in the health status of fish, when the animals undergo vaccination by immersion method.

Simple Summary Probiotics are live microbial adjuncts with numerous beneficial effects on fish. This study aims to evaluate the roles of Aspergillus oryzae (ASP) in the modulation of serum haemato-biochemical measurements, immunity, antioxidative capacity, and transcriptomic responses of Nile tilapia juveniles exposed to salinity stress. Findings revealed that dietary supplementation with A. oryzae mitigated the harmful influences of salinity stress on the exposed Nile tilapia. Abstract Nile tilapia Juveniles (19.50 ± 0.5 g) were fed on a basal diet (control group (CTR)) and a diet supplemented with 1 g Aspergillus oryzae (ASP) per kg diet for 12 weeks. Fish were then subjected to different salinity levels (0, 10, 15, and 20 practical salinity units (psu)) for another 15 days. Two-way ANOVA analysis revealed that the individual effects of ASP in Nile tilapia exposed to salinity levels presented a significant decrease (p < 0.05) in values of haemato-biochemical indices (such as glucose, cortisol, alanine transaminase, aspartate transaminase, and malondialdehyde) compared to those in the CTR group exposed to the same salinity levels. Moreover, significant increases (p < 0.05) of blood protein profile (albumin, globulin, and total protein), non-specific immune responses (lysozyme activity, phagocytic activity, and phagocytic index), and antioxidant enzymes activities (glutathione peroxidase, catalase, and superoxide dismutase) were observed in ASP-supplemented groups. Interestingly, there was significant (p < 0.05) downregulation of the mRNA expression values of heat shock protein 70 and interferon-gamma genes, alongside upregulation of the mRNA expression values of interleukin 1 beta and interleukin 8 genes, in the hepatic tissues of Nile tilapia in ASP-supplemented groups exposed to different salinities compared to those in the CTR group exposed to the same salinity levels. Taken together, these findings supported the potential efficacy of dietary supplementation with ASP in alleviating salinity stress-induced haemato-biochemical alterations, immune suppression, and oxidative stress in the exposed Nile tilapia.

Abstract
Heavy metal contaminated water is a great concern because of its high toxiciy, non-biodegradability, and bioaccumulation. Therefore, non-contaminated water is fundamental for a healthy life. Special attention is paid to the health-promoting ingredients of germinated whole cereal products. This study aimed to (1) examine the potentially harmful effects of Cu, Mn, and Zn on rat livers and brains, and (2) the potentially protective action of wheat and barley grasses against the expected harmful effects of these metals. The rats were treated with water contaminated by heavy metals (HMs) and germinated wheat and barley for 60 days. The rat liver functions and histopathological examinations were analyzed. Comet assay was evaluated to assess the damage in the DNA of rat livers and brains. The results indicated a significant alteration in liver functions in rats exposed to HMs; however, wheat and barley grasses at high doses decreased the harmful effects. An insignificant difference was noticed in total protein, albumin, and globulin of rats treated with HMs compared with the control. A significant increase in the serum and liver levels of HMs was recorded; however, they were reduced by wheat and barley grasses. Rat livers treated with HMs exhibited severe histological effects. The groups treated with wheat and barley grasses showed a normal liver architecture. A significant increase in DNA damage in the livers and brains was observed in rats treated with HMs, which was reduced when treated with wheat and barley grasses. Thus, using germinated seeds is promising to avoid damaging of HMs.

Abstract
Herein we demonstrate molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) as plastic antibodies for a microplate-based assay. As the most abundant plasma protein, human serum albumin (HSA) was selected as the target analyte model. Thin film MIP was synthesized by the surface molecular imprinting approach using HSA as the template. The optimized polymer consisted of acrylic acid (AA) and N-vinylpyrrolidone (VP) in a 2:3 (w/w) ratio, crosslinked with N,N'-(1,2-dihydroxyethylene) bisacrylamide (DHEBA) and then coated on the microplate well. The binding of MIP toward the bound HSA was achieved via the Bradford reaction. The assay revealed a dynamic detection range toward HSA standards in the clinically relevant 1-10 g/dL range, with a 0.01 g/dL detection limit. HSA-MIP showed minimal interference from other serum protein components: γ-globulin had 11% of the HSA response, α-globulin of high-density lipoprotein had 9%, and β-globulin of low-density lipoprotein had 7%. The analytical accuracy of the assay was 89-106% at the 95% confidence interval, with precision at 4-9%. The MIP-coated microplate was stored for 2 months at room temperature without losing its binding ability. The results suggest that the thin film plastic antibody system can be successfully applied to analytical/pseudoimmunological HSA determinations in clinical applications.

Abstract
The present study reports the synthesis of new purine bioisosteres comprising a pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine scaffold linked to mono-, di-, and trimethoxy benzylidene moieties through hydrazine linkages. First, in silico docking experiments of the synthesized compounds against Bax, Bcl-2, Caspase-3, Ki67, p21, and p53 were performed in a trial to rationalize the observed cytotoxic activity for the tested compounds. The anticancer activity of these compounds was evaluated in vitro against Caco-2, A549, HT1080, and Hela cell lines. Results revealed that two (5 and 7) of the three synthesized compounds (5, 6, and 7) showed high cytotoxic activity against all tested cell lines with IC50 values in the micro molar concentration. Our in vitro results show that there is no significant apoptotic effect for the treatment with the experimental compounds on the viability of cells against A549 cells. Ki67 expression was found to decrease significantly following the treatment of cells with the most promising candidate: drug 7. The overall results indicate that these pyrazolopyrimidine derivatives possess anticancer activity at varying doses. The suggested mechanism of action involves the inhibition of the proliferation of cancer cells.

Background
Hepatitis C virus infection is a global health challenge with Egypt being one of the highly affected countries. IL-10 has been suggested as a suitable marker to assess necroinflammation and to monitor the progression of liver damage. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a potent angiogenic factor playing a central role in many physiological as well as pathological processes. Several factors can be predictive of the response to treatment and achievement of SVR; some of which are host-related, and others are virus-related. The gene expression of IL-10 and VEGF have multiple effects for treatment response. The aim of the present work was to study the effect of treatment with directly acting agents (DAA) on the expression of VEGF and IL-10 genes in chronic hepatitis C virus-infected Egyptian genotype-4a patients. Twenty-five HCV subjects where evaluated for IL-10 and VEGF gene expression before and after treatment with DAA.
Results
IL-10 expression was downregulated in 92% of the cases. VEGF expression was heterogeneous showing spreading of values along a wide range with 64% of the cases being downregulated.
Conclusion
DAAs do not completely reverse the immunological imprints established upon chronic HCV infection.

Abstract
BACKGROUND: Borassus aethiopum fruit is claimed to be used for the management of diabetes without scientific validation. OBJECTIVE: This study seeks to evaluate the antihyperglycaemic activity of ethanol fruit extract of Borassus aethiopum in alloxan-induced diabetic rats. METHODS: 36 rats were placed in six groups (i-vi) (n = 6). Animals in group i (standard) were given 0.4 mls of distilled water (d.w) whereas the ones assigned to group ii, iii, iv, v and vi which were induced into diabetes (by intake of 140 mg/kg body weight [b.w] of alloxan) were also respectively given d.w, 50 mg/kg b.w of metformin, 25, 50 and 100 mg/kg b.w of ethanol fruit extract of Borassus aethiopum, once daily for 14 days. RESULTS: Flavonoid found in the extract (24.04 mg/ml) occurred the most with phenolic (0.35 mg/ml) being the least. While alloxan substantially (p < 0.05) increased the levels of some biological molecules and enzyme activity, it lowered those of others. The extract however significantly (p < 0.05) reversed all the alloxan-induced alterations, with the extract at 100 mg/kg b.w producing figures that compared (p > 0.05) well with those of the d.w treated non-diabetic animals and metformin-treated diabetic animals. The extract also renewed the wholeness of histological damage in the pancreas. CONCLUSION: The bioactive agents of B. aethiopum presented antihyperglycaemic property by preventing diabetes via reversal of alloxan-treatment alterations in the animals.

Abstract
We recently showed that dietary supplementation with key functional amino acids (FAA) improves growth performance and immune status of Salmonella Typhimurium (ST)-challenged pigs. It is not known if ST-challenged pigs will benefit from a longer adaptation period to FAA. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of different adaptation periods to diets containing FAA above requirements for growth on performance and immune response of weaned pigs subsequently challenged with ST. A total of 32 mixed-sex weanling pigs (11.6 ± 0.3 kg) were randomly assigned to 1 of 4 dietary treatments, being a basal amino acid (AA) profile fed throughout the experimental period (FAA-) or a functional AA profile (FAA+; Thr, Met, and Trp at 120% of requirements) fed only in the postinoculation (FAA+0), for 1 wk pre- and postinoculation (FAA+1), or throughout the experimental period (FAA+2). After a 14-d adaptation period, pigs were inoculated with ST (2.15 × 109 CFU/mL). Growth performance, body temperature, fecal score, acute-phase proteins, oxidant/antioxidant balance, score for ST shedding in feces and intestinal colonization, and fecal and digesta myeloperoxidase (MPO) were measured pre- and postinoculation. Postinoculation body temperature and fecal score, serum haptoglobin, plasma superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), and fecal MPO were increased while serum albumin and plasma reduced glutathione (GSH):oxidized glutathione (GSSG) were reduced compared to pre-inoculation (P < 0.05). Average daily gain and G:F were greater in FAA+2 pigs compared to FAA- pigs (P < 0.05). Serum albumin was higher in FAA+2 and FAA+1 compared to FAA+0 and FAA- pigs (P < 0.05) while FAA+2 pigs had lower haptoglobin compared to FAA- (P < 0.05). Plasma SOD was increased and GSH:GSSG was decreased in FAA- pigs compared to the other treatments (P < 0.05). Score for ST shedding in feces was progressively lower from d 1 to 6 regardless of treatment (P < 0.05) and was lower in FAA+2 pigs compared to FAA- and FAA+0 (P < 0.05). Counts of ST in colon digesta were higher in FAA- and FAA+0 pigs compared to FAA+2 (P < 0.05). Fecal and colonic digesta MPO were lower in FAA+2 and FAA+1 pigs compared to FAA- (P < 0.05). These results demonstrate a positive effect of a longer adaptation period to FAA-supplemented diets on performance and immune status of weaned pigs challenged with Salmonella.

Abstract
To determine the effect of different dietary energy and protein levels on bodyweight and blood chemistry, 36 ostriches at 2 to 9 weeks of age for feeding conditions and 18 for blood chemistry parameters was used. The birds were divided into six treatment groups. Energy and protein levels of diet were 2400 and 2600 kcal/kg and 20%, 22%, and 24%, respectively. The feed intake and bodyweight gain were determined a weekly. Blood chemical parameters including glucose, HDL, LDL, total cholesterol, triglycerides, total protein, albumin, globulin, aspartate amino-transferase and alanine amino-transferase activity were determined. The highest weight gain during the whole experiment was observed in ostriches offered 2400 kcal · kg−1 dietary energy and 20% protein. The lowest level of total cholesterol and protein was observed in treatment V (2600 kcal · kg−1 dietary energy and 22% protein). The lowest level of glucose and triglycerides was noted after treatment I. The highest albumin and globulin concentrations were in treatment III (2400 kcal · kg−1 dietary energy and 24% protein) and treatment II (2400 kcal · kg−1 dietary energy and 22% protein), respectively. The energy level had no effect (P < 0.05) on feed intake and weight gain in all experimental period. The results of this study showed that with increasing energy and protein levels, most blood parameters increased in ostriches but total cholesterol did not.

Abstract
Boldenone Undecylenate (BLD) is a synthetic derivative of testosterone and a widely used anabolic androgenic steroid. The health risk of BLD use as a pharmaceutical or dietary supplement is still underestimated and under-reported. Vitamin C (VC) has been recognized as an antioxidant with prominent hepatorenal protective effects. This study investigated the possible preventive activity of VC against BLD-induced hepatorenal damage. Forty adult male Wistar rats were classified into five groups: control, vehicle control, VC (orally given 120 mg/kg b. wt./day), BLD (intramuscularly injected 5 mg/kg b. wt./week), and BLD + VC-treated groups. The experiment continued for eight weeks. Serum levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) were measured. Serum contents of total protein (TP), albumin (ALB), globulin, total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), and very-low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (VLDL-C) were also assayed. Urea, creatinine, and uric acid levels were determined together with sodium and potassium electrolytes measuring. Moreover, oxidative stress indicators including reduced glutathione (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione-S-transferase (GST), and glutathione reductase (GSR) as well as malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were measured in both hepatic and renal tissues. Corresponding histological examination of renal and hepatic tissues was conducted. Besides, immunohistochemical evaluations for androgen receptors protein (AR) and heat shock protein 90 (Hsp 90) expressions were performed. BLD caused significant rises in serum ALT, AST, TP, ALB, TC, TG, LDL-C, VLDL-C, urea, creatinine, uric acid, potassium, and MDA levels. Further, BLD-injected rats showed significant declines in the serum levels of HDL-C, sodium, GSH, GPx, GST, and GSR. Besides, distinct histopathological perturbations were detected in renal and hepatic tissues of BLD-injected rats. AR and Hsp 90 immunoexpression were increased in hepatic and renal tissues. In contrast, VC significantly reversed the BLD-induced hepatorenal damage in co-treated rats but not ameliorated AR protein overexpression. VC could be an efficient preventive supplement for mitigating BLD-induced hepatorenal damage, possibly via controlling oxidative stress events.

Abstract
Simple Summary The price of feed ingredients is one of the most important and most costly constraints facing the aquaculture industry, and fishmeal is one of the most important and most expensive of these ingredients. As a result, recent research has focused on the use of alternative low-cost feed ingredients that are less reliant on fishmeal. Therefore, there has been considerable interest in the use of various types of plant protein (PP) meals in aquafeeds (soybean and sunflower meal). This study reveals that soybean and sunflower meal with methionine and lysine supplementation can be used on a larger scale in the aquafeed industry as substitutes of up to 50% of fishmeal. Abstract African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) were subjected to a 30-day feeding trial to determine the appropriateness of using plant protein (PP) (soybean and sunflower meal) as a fishmeal (FM) replacement in the diet and its effects on immune status, antioxidant activity, pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) gene expression, and disease resistance. A total of 150 C. gariepinus (51.01 ± 0.34 g) were randomly distributed among five groups in triplicate. Five experimental diets were formulated to replace 0 (control), 33.5, 50, 66.5, and 100% FM with soybean and sunflower meal to form the experimental diets (R0, R33.5, R50, R66.5, and R100, respectively). After 30 days, the diet containing PP for FM had no significant impact on total, and differential leukocyte counts determined at the end of the feeding period. The total globulin concentration showed significantly greater differences in the following order R0 > R33.5 > R50 > R66.5 > R100. The R0 group had the highest concentration of serum γ-globulin, while R100 had the lowest concentration. The antioxidant status complements 3 (C3), lysozyme activity (LYZ), and antiprotease activity were not significantly different between R0, R33.5, and R50 groups, while they were significantly lower in R100. The serum nitric oxide activity (NO) exhibited significantly greater differences in the following order R0 > R33.5 > R50 > R66.5 > R100. PACAP was significantly higher in the R33.5 group. The highest cumulative mortality caused by Aeromonas sobria was recorded in the R100 group (60%) and the lowest in the R0 group (30%). In conclusion, the results indicate that the immunological responses and antioxidant status of C. gariepinus were not affected when they consumed a diet with FM replaced by up to 50% with PP (SBM and SFM) with methionine and lysine supplementation, but total globulin, NO, and cumulative mortality were impaired with a diet containing a 100% FM replacement.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to investigate the long-term effect of using bee venom (BV) on the reproductive performance, immune, and health status of rabbit does and its effect on their litters. Sixty mature does, from Spanish V-line rabbit stock, were randomly assigned to four homogeneous groups with 15 does each. The 1st , 2nd and 3rd groups were injected twice weekly under the neck skin with 0.1 ml solution contains 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 mg BV/rabbit respectively. The 4th group served as a control group. From the results, litter size at birth, litter weight and survival rate at weaning age as well as milk yield were significantly (p ≤ 0.05) increased in BV groups than in the control group. Serum estradiol 17-β (E2) was significantly (p ≤ 0.05) higher (15%) in the rabbit does treated with BV compared to the control group. The treated does with BV at any study doses showed a gradual and significant (p ≤ 0.05) decrease (12%) in serum progesterone levels (P4) compared to the control. They also showed a significant (p≤0.05) increase in conception (17%) and fertility rates (10%) compared to the control does. Treatment of rabbit does with BV caused a gradual and significant (p ≤ 0.05) reduction in both aspartate aminotransferase (AST) (16%) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) (37%) liver enzyme activities. Additionally, results have shown that BV resulted in a gradual and significant (p ≤ 0.05) increase in total antioxidant capacity (TAC), antioxidative enzymes such as glutathione S-transferase (GST) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx), serum IgG, IgM and IgA levels with significant (p ≤ 0.05) decrease in malondialdehyde (MDA) and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) in BV groups compared to the control group. Results suggest that BV can be used in rabbit farming as an effective and safe alternative to artificial chemical drugs (sexual-stimulants) to improve certain reproductive traits, immune response and health.

Abstract
Human serum albumin (HSA) is considered as a biomarker for the early diagnosis of renal disease, therefore identifying and detecting HSA in biological fluids (especially urine) with an easy method is of great importance. Herein, we report a novel hydrazide Schiff base fluorescent probe N'-((7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl)methylene)pyrazine-2-carbohydrazide (NPC), which self-assembled into nanoparticles in aqueous solution. Based on disassembly-induced emission and the site-specific recognition mechanism, the binding of NPC with HSA resulted in a fluorescence "turn-on" response. Probe NPC exhibited superior selectivity and sensitivity toward HSA with a detection limit of 0.59 mg L-1 in PBS and 0.56 mg L-1 in the urine sample. The site-binding mechanism of NPC with HSA was explored by fluorescence quenching study, Job's plot analysis, HSA destruction, site marker displacement and molecular docking. Fluorescence imaging of HSA in MCF-7 cells was achieved by using a non-toxic NPC probe, suggesting that NPC could be applied to visualize the level of HSA in vivo. More importantly, further practical applications of probe NPC in human urine samples were achieved with satisfactory results by using a fluorometer or test paper, which could provide extensive application in clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
A 45-day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effect of dietary jamun tree leaf (JL) on the antioxidant defence system-based disease resistance in juveniles of Trachinotus blochii. The juveniles of snubnose pompano were distributed into four treatment groups in triplicates. Each treatment was fed with a diet containing either 0 (0JL), 0.5 (0.5JL), 1 (1JL) and 1.5% JL (1.5JL) in the feed. After feeding trial, the fishes were experimentally infected with Vibrio parahaemolyticus. The activities of oxidative stress enzymes such as superoxide dismutase and catalase were found to be increasing with increasing level of dietary JL incorporation, and the lower value was witnessed in control group in pre- and post-challenge. After challenge, the alanine and aspartate aminotransferase activities in all the treatments were significantly increased (P < 0.05) than the pre-challenge condition and exhibited reverse trend with the antioxidant enzymes. The alkaline and acid phosphatase activities were found higher in 1.5JL group and showed significant difference (P < 0.05) among the treatments. The respiratory burst activity and liver glycogen content showed an increasing trend as the level of inclusion of JL increased in the diet. The acetylcholinesterase activity was significantly plunged (P < 0.05) after experimental infection, and JL diet fed groups showed better activity. After experimental infection with V. parahaemolyticus, the highest relative percentage of survival was observed in 1JL and 1.5JL groups. Hence, dietary supplementation of jamun tree leaf at the level of 1% is adequate to reduce the oxidative stress and improved the innate immune status through antioxidant defence system.

Abstract
Hexavalent chromium (Cr VI) is widely known as a potential hepatotoxic in humans and animals and its toxicity is associated with oxidative stress. So, an in vivo study was outlined to assess the protective and therapeutic role of Rosmarinus officinalis essential oil (rosemary; REO) against Cr VI-induced hepatotoxicity. Male Wistar rats were assigned into five equal groups (1st group served as control; 2nd and 3rd groups received 0.5 ml/kg BW REO and 2 mg/kg BW Cr VI, respectively; 4th group pretreated with REO then injected with K2Cr2O7; and 5th group received Cr VI then treated with REO for 3 weeks). Results revealed that rats exposed to Cr VI showed a valuable changes in hematological parameters and an increase in oxidative stress markers (Protein carbonyl, TBARS, and H2O2) and a noteworthy decline in glutathione (GSH) content. Furthermore, a considerable decrease in enzymatic antioxidants (SOD, CAT, GPx, and GST), transaminases (AST and ALT), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activities, as well as total protein and albumin levels, was detected, while serum liver function biomarkers were increased significantly. In addition, the evaluation of histopathological and immunohistochemical PCNA expression showed significant variations in the liver that confirm the biochemical results. Administration of REO pre- or post-chromium treatment restored the parameters cited above near to the normal values. Otherwise, individual intake with REO slumped lipid peroxidation and gotten better antioxidant status significantly. Conclusively, REO proved to be an effective antioxidant in modulating Cr VI-induced hepatotoxicity, especially in the pretreated rats.

Abstract
This work was designed to estimate the protective effect of Saraca indica L. leaves ethanolic exract against γ-irradiation induced renal damage in rats. Phytochemical examinations of S. indica L. leaves extract resulted in the separation of three flavanone glycosides: Astilibin (1), Neoastilbin (2), and Eriodictyol-7-O-α-l-rhamnopyranoside (3); two flavonols: Quercetin (4) and Quercetin-3-O-α-l-arabinopyranosyl-(1'''-6'')-O-β-D-galactopyranoside (5) in addition of Gallic acid (6) and methyl gallate (7). Their structures elucidated by chemical evidences and spectroscopic analysis (1 and 2D-NMR, -ESI-MS, UV). Female rats were used and classified into: control, Ext (200 mg/kg body wt/day orally for 7 days), IRR (8Gy), Ext + IRR, and Sily+IRR groups (received silymarin 50 mg/kg b.wt orally as reference drug). Results showed that S. indica L. leaves extract ameliorated the kidney function tests, hs-CRP, IL-1β, ACE, TNF-α, GSH, and MDA as well as, decreased the histopathological changes of kidney. In conclusion, S. indica L. leaves extract had a renoprotective activity against irradiation induced renal injury due to its flavononid contents.

Abstract
The present investigation is an attempt to assess the impact of untreated methyl orange and Oedogonium subplagiostomum AP1 treated methyl orange dye solutions on Labeo rohita. The behavioural response, mortality, haematological (red blood corpuscles (RBC), packed cell volume (PCV), haemoglobin (Hb), white blood corpuscles (WBC), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH) and mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC)), biochemical (plasma glucose and protein), enzymological (aspartate amino transaminases (AST) and alanine amino transaminases (ALT)) and histological examination (gills, liver and kidney) of Labeo rohita are exposed to untreated and treated methyl orange dye solutions were assessed on 7th day. The fish exposed to tap water and treated dye solution showed normal behavioural response whereas abnormal behaviour was noted in fish exposed to untreated dye solution. Similar trend was recorded in the mortality rate of the fishes. Fish exposed to untreated dye solution showed reduction in RBC, PCV, Hb, MCHC, plasma glucose and plasma protein, increased level of WBC, MCV and MCH and also alteration in AST and ALT thereby indicating the toxicity of the dye. No such reduction and alteration were observed in haematological, biochemical and enzymological levels of fishes exposed to tap water and treated dye solution indicating the non-toxic nature of the degraded metabolites of dye. Histological examination of fishes exposed to methyl orange dye revealed necrosis and haemorrhage in the gills and hepatocytes, congested and shrunken glomeruli in kidney thereby indicating the toxicity of the dye. The histoarchitecture of control and algae-treated fishes showed no structural changes indicating the non-toxic nature of the degraded metabolites of the dye. The results concluded that methyl orange dye solution treated with O. subplagiostomum AP1 can be explored for aquacultural purposes owing to its non-toxic nature.

Abstract
The present study was carried out to investigate the effects of dietary bovine lactoferrin (BLF) or chitosan nanoparticles (CHN) alone or in combinations on serum biochemical indices, antioxidative capacity, transcriptomic responses, non-specific immunity, and resistance of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) against challenge with Aeromonas hydrophila. Fish were fed on the basal diet with no supplements and served as control (CTR), and six other experimental diets containing different levels of BLF (800 and 1200 mg per kg diet), CHN (500 and 1000 mg per kg diet), and their combinations (400 mg BLF plus 250 mg CHN per kg diet, and 600 mg BLF plus 500 mg CHN per kg diet) for 45 days. At the end of the experiment, serum, and tissue specimens (liver and kidney) were collected, fish in all groups were challenged with A. hydrophila and then observed for another ten days to calculate the RPS. Compared to the CTR group, no significant differences were recorded in TP, ALB, GLO, BUN, and CREAT values among all treatments. Serum LYZ, ALT, AST, and ALP enzyme activities were significantly increased in all experimental groups over the CTR (P < 0.05), and their highest values were recorded in the combined treatments. Moreover, dietary supplementation with CHN (1000 mg/kg) and combined treatments significantly increased the SOD, CAT, and GSH-Px enzyme activities compared to other groups (P < 0.05). The highest mRNA expression levels of IGF-1 gene in liver, and IL-1β, and IFN-γ genes in kidneys were found in CHN (1000 mg/kg) group and combined treatments more than other groups. Interestingly, no, or mild histopathological alterations were noticed in the hepatopancreas and posterior kidney of the treated groups. A significantly higher RPS was identified in the combined treatments challenged with A. hydrophila compared with the CTR group. This study exemplifies the positive impacts of dietary supplementation with BLF or CHN alone or combinations on the antioxidative status, immunity, and disease resistance of Nile tilapia.

Abstract
The extensive usage of gibberellic acid (GA3) in agriculture and plant growth is generally associated with enormous human and public health hazards. The present research assesses the impact of n-acetyl cysteine (NAC) on the hepatorenal injury persuaded by GA3 for this purpose, After two weeks of adaptation twenty-four rats allocated into four groups (6 rats/group) as follows: control group, supplied with saline only; n-acetyl cysteine (NAC) group, provided with 150 mg/kg/bw by stomach tube (orally) dissolved in saline; Positive GA3 group, received GA3 (55 mg/kg/bw) orally; Protective group received NAC (150 mg/kg/bw) and GA3 (55 mg/kg/bw) as in NAC and GA3 groups. Rats received their treatments for consecutive 3 weeks. On day 22, rats were anesthetized, then euthanized. Blood and tissue samples were obtained for biochemical, antioxidants markers analysis, gene expression, and histopathological examination. Our results revealed significant changes in serum AST, ALT, urea, uric acid, total protein, and albumin levels with a substantial rise of MDA and NO concentration in GA3 treated rats along with a considerable decrease of the GSH and overexpression of the inflammatory hepatic and renal cytokines (IL-10, TNF-α, NOS) and fibrotic gene expression TGF-β1, and α-SMA, with boost expression of nuclear factor-kappa (NFk B). NAC co-administered with GA3 significantly normalized the kidney and liver function and the antioxidant state, besides normal histological structure of both liver and kidney tissue and downregulated expression of the pro-inflammatory cytokines as well as, fibrogenic gene expression. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS: The current study confirmed that GA3 induced hepto-renal dysfunction that was ameliorated by NAC administration. Moreover, our findings confirmed the antioxidant capability of n-acetyl cysteine and afford robust evidence about the ameliorative effect of the n-acetyl cysteine to attenuate the hepatorenal injury induced by gibberellic acid through modulation of the antioxidant defense system fibrogenic, and pro-inflammatory cytokines expression.

Abstract
Simple Summary Heat stress in summer season impairs growth and causes heat-induced physiological stress in rabbits. Zinc acts as an antioxidant stress agent by inhibition of oxidation of macromolecules such as DNA as well as inhibition of inflammatory response, eventually resulting in the down-regulation of reactive oxygen species production. Selenium is a powerful biological anti-oxidant mineral. Spirulina is comparatively confined extreme protein (55–65%) and comprised all important amino acids, has wellbeing assistances, immuno-stimulatory influences and antiviral activity and ensured the capability to diminish heat stress impacts. In the current work, effects of dietary supplemental zinc and/ or selenium enriched spirulina (100 mg Zn-Sp/kg diet, 0.5 mg Se-Sp/kg diet or 100 mg Zn-Sp+ 0.5 mg Se-Sp, respectively) as antioxidants on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, plasma biochemicals and antioxidant status of New Zealand White growing rabbits under summer conditions were evaluated. The findings showed that the supplemented diets enhanced growth performance of rabbits at marketing, hot carcass weight, dressing percentage, high density lipoprotein cholesterol and total antioxidant capacity and reduced thio-barbituric acid reactive substances. Finally, dietary supplementation of 100 mg Zn-Sp, 0.5 mg Se-Sp or their combination could improve growth performance, nutrients digestibility and antioxidant status of heat stressed growing rabbits. Abstract Effects of dietary supplemental zinc and/ or selenium enriched spirulina (Zn-Sp, Se-Sp and Zn-Se-Sp, respectively) as antioxidants on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, plasma biochemicals and antioxidant status of growing rabbits under summer conditions were evaluated. A total of 160 New Zealand White male rabbits at six-weeks-old were randomly assigned to four groups. The first group received untreated diet (control). The other groups received diet supplemented with 100 mg Zn-Sp/kg diet, 0.5 mg Se-Sp/kg diet or 100 mg Zn-Sp+ 0.5 mg Se-Sp, respectively. The findings showed that the supplemented diets enhanced growth performance of rabbits at marketing. Rabbits fed Zn-Sp exhibited high dry and organic matter digestibilities while those fed Zn-Sp and Zn-Se-Sp diet supplemented achieved high crude protein digestibility. Rabbits fed diet supplemented with Zn-Se-Sp gave the highest hot carcass weight when competed with their counterparts. Zn-Sp and Zn-Se-Sp supplemented diets tended to promote dressing percentage. Low concentrations of plasma total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and VLDL-cholesterol were recorded by Se-Sp and Zn-Se-Sp groups. Rabbits fed Se-Sp, Zn-Se-Sp had the greatest HDL, plasma TAC and catalase and the lowest TBARs. Conclusively, dietary supplementation of 100 mg Zn-Sp, 0.5 mg Se-Sp or their combination could improve growth performance, nutrients digestibility and antioxidant status of heat stressed growing rabbits.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Vitamin D deficiency has been associated with health problems globally, but there is limited information on vitamin D status and associated risk factors among adults in underserved populations. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to identify risk factors for vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency among Puerto Rican adults from the Boston Puerto Rican Health Study (BPRHS). METHODS A total of 822 adults (45-75 y, at baseline) were included in these analyses. Deficiency was defined as serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] <30 and insufficiency as 30 to <50 nmol/L. Dietary intake was assessed with a validated FFQ. Associations between risk factors, including dietary vitamin D, supplement use, ancestry, skin pigmentation, months in the past year spent in a southern climate, and serum 25(OH)D were assessed with multivariable general linear models. RESULTS Approximately 13% of participants were deficient in 25(OH)D and another 43% insufficient. Skin pigment was associated with 25(OH)D using 3 measures, greater African ancestry (β ± SE) (-7.74 ± 2.91, P = 0.01); interviewer assessed dark or medium, compared with white, skin tone, (-5.09 ± 2.19, P = 0.02 and -5.89 ± 1.58, P < 0.001, respectively); and melanin index of the upper inner right arm, assessed using a spectrophotometer (-2.04 ± 0.84, P = 0.02). After adjusting for ancestry, factors associated with lower serum 25(OH)D included smoking (-4.49 ± 1.58, P = 0.01); BMI (-0.21 ± 0.10, P = 0.04); and spring compared with autumn blood draw (-4.66 ± 1.68, P = 0.004). Factors associated with higher serum 25(OH)D included female sex compared with male (4.03 ± 1.58, P = 0.01); dietary vitamin D intake μg/d (0.71 ± 0.25, P < 0.004); vitamin D supplement use (4.50 ± 1.87, P = 0.02); income to poverty ratio (0.01 ± 0.01, P = 0.06), and months in a southern climate during the past year (0.96 ± 0.56, P = 0.09). CONCLUSIONS Vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency was prevalent in this Puerto Rican population living in the northeastern USA. Several factors were associated with this, which may assist in identifying those at risk. Interventions are needed to improve serum 25(OH)D concentration, particularly among those with limited exposure to sunlight.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Nitrate (NO3-) reduces enteric methane emissions and could be a source of non-protein nitrogen in ruminant feeds. Nonetheless, it has a potential toxic effect that could compromise animal health and production. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of progressive inclusion of NO3- in the diet on the hematological, biochemical, and blood gases parameters, in turn, the effects on feed intake and live weight gain (LWG) in Holstein calves. Materials and Methods: Eighteen Holstein heifers and steers (nine animals/treatment) were maintained in individual pens for 45 days. Animals were randomly allocated to either a control or nitrate diet (ND) (containing 15 g of NO3-/kg of dry matter [DM]). The biochemical parameters and blood gases were analyzed only in the NO3- group on days: -1, 1, 7, 13, 19, and 25 corresponding to 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100% of the total inclusion of NO3- in the diet, respectively. In addition, DM intake (DMI) and LWG were evaluated among dietary treatments. Results: Feeding the ND did not influence DMI or LWG (p>0.05). Methemoglobin (MetHb) and deoxyhemoglobin increased according to the NO3- concentrations in the diet (p<0.05), while an opposite effect was observed for oxyhemoglobin and carboxyhemoglobin (p<0.05). Hematocrit levels decreased (p<0.05), while albumin, alanine aminotransferase, and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase concentrations were not modified (p>0.05). However, glucose, urea, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and retinol concentrations increased (p<0.05) according to the NO3- concentrations in the diet. Conclusion: This study confirmed that the progressive inclusion of 123 g of NO3-/animal/day in the diet could be safe without affecting DMI and LWG of Holstein calves. In turn, a dose-response effect of the MetHb, glucose, urea, AST, and retinol was observed, but these values did not exceed reference values. These results highlighted the importance of using a scheme of progressive inclusion of NO3- in the diet of calves to reduce the risks of NO3- toxicity.

Abstract
Human leptospirosis is an acute infectious zoonosis presenting specific lipid disorders. Previous in vitro studies showed both leptospira glycolipoprotein endotoxin, and high oleic acid levels were associated with Na/K-ATPase inhibition that is amplified by the reduction of circulating albumin levels. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship of oleic acid/albumin (OA/A) molar ratio and clinical outcomes in Leptospirosis. Through a prospective observational cohort study employing high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) we sequentially determined serum concentrations of nonesterified fatty acids (NEFA) and albumin in twenty-eight patients with severe leptospirosis since their hospital admission. Twenty patients recovered, and eight died. Data was distributed in two groups according to clinical outcomes. Oleic acid/albumin molar ratios (OA/A), initial samples, were higher than those in healthy donors. The ratio OA/A, however, persisted high in dying patients, whereas patients who survived had a reduction matching to healthy donors. Biochemical alterations suggest that cure is correlated to the reestablishment of the OA/A molar ratio, while fatal outcomes related to persisting OA/A imbalances. Analysis by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) showed the area under the curve of 0.864 and the cutoff value of 0.715 being associated with a high odds ratio. Lipid analysis from patients with leptospirosis had an acute high serum OA/A molar ratio, and sustained imbalance has a high odds ratio and strong correlation with mortality.

Abstract
Methotrexate (MTX) is a widely used chemotherapeutic agent; nevertheless, the nephrotoxicity associated with its use has limited its clinical use. Rebamipide (REB) is a gastro-protective agent with diverse promising biological activities. Here, we investigated the renoprotective effects of REB against MTX-induced nephrotoxicity in rats. Male Wistar rats were allocated into four groups: the normal control group, the REB group (100 mg kg-1 day-1 , PO, for 12 days), the MTX group (which received a single injection of 20 mg/kg, ip), and the REB + MTX group (which received 100 mg kg-1 day-1 REB for 7 days before and 5 days after being injected with 20 mg/kg MTX). Interestingly, MTX triggered kidney injury, characterized by renal dysfunction along with histopathological alterations. Moreover, increased reactive oxygen species level and inflammatory response were detected in the kidney of MTX-treated rats. However, REB prevented MTX-induced oxidative kidney injury and boosted an antioxidant balance. Mechanistically, REB markedly activated the NRF-2 protein and upregulated the expression of both SIRT-1 and FOXO-3 genes. Additionally, REB administration strongly inhibited the inflammatory response by downregulating both NF-κB-p65 and TLR-4. Finally, the coadministration of REB and MTX activated the mTOR/PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Simultaneously, REB treatment attenuated the reduction in glomerular size, the widening of the capsular spaces, and the tubular cell damage due to MTX administration. Taken together, these results indicate the potential of REB as adjuvant therapy to prevent nephrotoxicity in patients receiving MTX treatment.

Abstract
Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) have wide medical and industrial applications; therefore, their release into aquatic environments is a problematic issue. The present study aims to evaluate the removal efficiency of Ag NPs from water using orange peel (OP) and banana peel (BP) to moderate their toxicity on Oreochromis niloticus. Fish were divided into 4 groups: control group (dechlorinated tap water), Ag NPs (4 mg/L) exposed group, Ag NPs (4 mg/L) + OP (40 mg/L) group, and Ag NPs (4 mg/L) + BP (40 mg/L) group for 24 h, 48 h, and 96 h. The adsorptive ability of both peels was confirmed by scanning electron microscope and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy after the exposure processes. The biochemical results revealed a gradual elevation in plasma glucose, total proteins, globulin, liver enzymes (AST, ALT, and ALP), creatinine, and uric acid after Ag NPs exposure, while albumin and total lipid concentrations were significantly decreased. The recorded antioxidant biomarkers in gills, and liver tissues after Ag NPs exposure showed severe oxidative damages (maximally after 96 h) as indicated by marked elevations in thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, glutathione peroxidase, catalase, and superoxide dismutase values, and decreased glutathione reduced content. All studied parameters restored more or less to that of control groups after OP and BP water treatment. The adsorbent abilities of both peels could reduce Ag NPs bioavailability and moderate their toxicological impacts.

Abstract
The intensive application of pesticides without proper disposal management has led their excess residues to reach the neighbouring aquatic ecosystem and its inhabitants mainly fish. In natural water body pesticides get diluted, and therefore to study the silent toxic effect, a low dose of malathion (0.4 mg/L; 1/20th of 96-h LC50 value) for the different duration (1, 4, 8, 12 days) was evaluated through biochemical and histopathological biomarkers of the blood and hepatorenal tissues of Channa punctatus. With the increase in pesticide exposure periods, the biometric indices: Condition Factor (K), HSI and KSI and hepatorenal tissues weight decreased. Among the biochemical alterations in malathion exposed fish, serum glucose levels reduced by 72.23 % while protein amounts increased by 29.03 % in 12 days malathion exposed fish. Other parameters, viz., cholesterol, albumin, and phosphorous, remained the same as control fish after malathion exposure. Though serum bilirubin (total and direct) followed a biphasic response, it reduced by 60 % after 12 days of malathion exposure compared to control. Biochemical changes are reflecting the induction of compensatory energy mechanism to cope up with the malathion stress. The transaminases and ALP biomarker enzymes used for liver functionality test declined in the order of AST > ALP > ALT in a time-dependent manner in malathion exposed fish serum, indicating liver injuries in fish due to malathion. The elevated levels of urea, BUN, creatinine, and Ca2+ in the serum of 12 days of malathion exposed fish revealed renal dysfunction. In the treated fish, antioxidative (SOD and CAT) and LPO activities were significantly higher in the liver followed by the kidney than their controls. Further, histological examination registered progressive damages in the hepatorenal tissues of malathion exposed fish with the increased exposure periods compared to control. Thus, even a small dose of malathion in water could severely deteriorate the structure and function of tissue on its prolonged exposure, and therefore utmost care should be taken to prevent their seepage into the water bodies.

Abstract
Launaea nudicaulis is used in folk medicine worldwide to treat several diseases. The present study aimed to assess the antidiabetic activity of L. nudicaulis ethanolic extract and its effect on diabetic complications in streptozotocin-induced hyperglycemic rats. The extract was orally administrated at 250 and 500 mg/kg/day for 5-weeks and compared to glibenclamide as a reference drug at a dose of 5 mg/kg/day. Administration of the extract exhibited a potential hypoglycemic effect manifested by a significant depletion of serum blood glucose concurrent with a significant elevation in serum insulin secretion. After 5-weeks, extract at 250 and 500 mg/kg/day decreased blood glucose levels by about 53.8 and 68.1%, respectively, compared to the initial values (p ≤ 0.05). The extract at the two dosages prevented weight loss of rats from the 2nd week till the end of the experiment, compared to diabetic control rats. The extract further exhibited marked improvement in diabetic complications including liver, kidney and testis performance, oxidative stress, and relative weight of vital organs, with respect to diabetic control. Histopathological examinations confirmed the previous biochemical analysis, where the extract showed a protective effect on the pancreas, liver, kidney, and testis that degenerated in diabetic control rats. To characterize extract composition, UPLC-ESI-qTOF-MS identified 85 chromatographic peaks belonging to flavonoids, phenolics, acyl glycerols, nitrogenous compounds, and fatty acids, with four novel phenolics reported. The potential anti-diabetic effect warrants its inclusion in further studies and or isolation of the main bioactive agent(s).

Abstract
The consumption of inadequately thermally treated fish is a public health risk due to the possible propagation of Anisakis larvae. The present study demonstrated the physiological and histopathological changes that accompanied an oral inoculation of crude extracts from fresh and thermally treated Anisakis Type II (L3) in rats. Worms were isolated from a marine fish and examined and identified using light and scanning electron microscopy. The study was performed in 6 rat groups: control (I), garlic oil (GO) inoculated (II), fresh L3 inoculated (III), thermally treated L3 inoculated (IV), fresh L3 + GO inoculated (V), and a thermally treated L3 + GO inoculated (VI) groups. Rats inoculated with fresh and thermally treated L3 showed abnormal liver and kidney functions associated with the destruction of normal architecture. GO produced a protective effect in rat groups inoculated with L3 extracts + GO via the amelioration of liver and kidney functions, which was confirmed by the marked normal structure on histology. Cooking of L3-infected fish induced severe alterations compared to uncooked fish. The administration of garlic before and after fish eating is recommended to avoid the dangerous effect of anisakids, even if they are cooked.

Abstract
Serum albumin (SA) is the most abundant carrier protein in blood. SA carries a diverse range of nutrients, drugs, and metal ions. It has wide clinical and biochemical applications. Human serum albumin (HSA) can be used as a biomarker for kidney and liver diseases. Aptasensor is one of potential HSA detection methods. HSA-specific aptamer was selected for HSA detection. In animals, bovine serum albumin (BSA) and canine serum albumins (CSA) share high sequence similarities to HSA. Thus, it is interesting to explore the possibility of using HSA-selective aptamer for BSA and CSA aptasensor. In this study, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were initially employed to investigate the binding of aptamer to BSA and CSA in comparison to HSA. Like HSA, both BSA and CSA can bind aptamer, but different binding affinities are observed. BSA shows the tighter binding to aptamer than CSA. Domain III is found to be the aptamer-binding domain although no specific aptamer conformation is captured. However, in all cases, the aptamer utilizes the 3'-end to attach on an albumin surface. Both nucleobases and phosphate backbones on a DNA aptamer are important for albumin-aptamer complexation. Our results imply the possibility of using HSA-specific aptamer for BSA detection due to tighter binding observed, but may be less effective in CSA. However, the test in actual complicated condition must be further studied.

Abstract
High dietary protein may increase susceptibility of weaned pigs to enteric pathogens. Dietary supplementation with functional amino acids (FAA) may improve growth performance of pigs during disease challenge. The objective of this study was to evaluate the interactive effects of dietary protein content and FAA supplementation above requirements for growth on performance and immune response of weaned pigs challenged with Salmonella. Sixty-four mixed-sex weanling pigs (13.9 ± 0.82 kg) were randomly assigned to dietary treatments in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement with low (LP) or high protein (HP) content and basal (AA-) or FAA profile (AA+; Thr, Met, and Trp at 120% of requirements) as factors. After a 7-d adaptation period, pigs were inoculated with either a sterile saline solution (CT) or saline solution containing Salmonella Typhimurium (ST; 3.3 × 109 CFU/mL). Growth performance, body temperature, fecal score, acute-phase proteins, oxidant/antioxidant balance, ST shedding score in feces and intestinal colonization, fecal and digesta myeloperoxidase (MPO), and plasma urea nitrogen (PUN) were measured pre- and postinoculation. There were no dietary effects on any measures pre-inoculation or post-CT inoculation (P > 0.05). Inoculation with ST increased body temperature and fecal score (P < 0.05), serum haptoglobin, plasma superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), PUN, and fecal MPO, and decreased serum albumin and plasma reduced glutathione (GSH):oxidized glutathione (GSSG) compared with CT pigs (P < 0.05). ST-inoculation reduced average daily gain (ADG) and feed intake (ADFI) vs. CT pigs (P < 0.05) but was increased by AA+ vs. AA- in ST pigs (P < 0.05). Serum albumin and GSH:GSSG were increased while haptoglobin and SOD were decreased in ST-inoculated pigs fed AA+ vs. AA- (P < 0.05). PUN was higher in HP vs. LP-fed pigs postinoculation (P < 0.05). Fecal ST score was increased in ST-inoculated pigs on days 1 and 2 postinoculation and declined by day 6 (P < 0.05) in all pigs while the overall score was reduced in AA+ vs. AA- pigs (P < 0.05). Cecal digesta ST score was higher in HP vs. LP-fed pigs and were lower in AA+ compared with AA- fed pigs in the colon (P < 0.05). Fecal and digesta MPO were reduced in ST pigs fed AA+ vs. AA- (P < 0.05). These results demonstrate a positive effect of FAA supplementation, with minimal effects of dietary protein, on performance and immune status in weaned pigs challenged with Salmonella.

Abstract
In this work, allicin was evaluated as an immunostimulant and antioxidant agent preventing Nile tilapia; Oreochromis niloticus against carbofuran toxicity. Fish (60 ± 8 g) were allocated to five groups; the first group (control), the second group was fed 1 g/kg allicin-supplemented diets without carbofuran intoxication, the third group exposed to 1/10 LC50 carbofuran (0.246 mg/L). While the fourth, and fifth groups were fed allicin supplemented diet at concentration of 0.5 and 1 g/kg diet, respectively, and exposed to carbofuran at the same concentration similar to the one of the third group. After 30 days, fish exposed to carbofuran showed high ALT, AST, ALP, cholesterol, glucose, cortisol, uric acid, and creatinine levels. However, serum AChE, total proteins, immunoglobulins, and lysozyme activity were markedly (P ≤ 0.05) reduced in carbofuran exposed tilapia fish. Moreover, malondialdehyde (MDA) level was significantly increased in liver, and kidneys tissues of carbofuran exposed fish. Whereas, catalase (CAT) activity, superoxide dismutase (SOD), and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) were decreased (P ≤ 0.05) significantly in both liver, and kidneys tissues after exposure to carbofuran. Interestingly, tilapia fish treated with carbofuran (0.246 mg/L) and fed (0.5 and 1 g/kg diet) allicin in both the 4th & 5th groups, respectively, decreased serum biochemical parameters; and hepatorenal (MDA) levels, as well as increased AChE, immunological profile, and oxidative stress biomarkers. The results suggested that co- administration of allicin at the high dose is more capable of improving the biochemical, and immunological parameters, and tissue antioxidant responses of carbofuran treated fish.

Abstract
The broiler industry in the Middle East (ME) faces many challenges related to bacterial infections, including M. gallisepticum, M. synoviae, E. coli, and other gram-negative bacteria, exacerbated by various errors in the brooding process. Antibiotics use in the first three days of life, such as Linco-Spectin 100 SP, tilmicosin, enrofloxacin, tylosin, colistin, and doxycycline, is the trend in the market to control such challenges. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the newly introduced aroA E. coli vaccine (Poulvac E. coli) and its ability to reduce over-reliance on the heavy use of antibiotics in the ME. The study was conducted on 160 broiler chicks, divided into eight even groups. Each group was treated differently in terms of antibiotic therapy and ages at the time of Poulvac E. coli administration and the challenge of virulent avian pathogenic E. coli (APEC), serotype O78. Spray application of Poulvac E. coli at seven days of age plus Linco-Spectin 100 SP during the first three days provided the best results for zero mortality after challenge with APEC, while Poulvac E. coli at seven days with enrofloxacin during the early three days resulted in 10% mortality. Poulvac E. coli hatchery vaccination protected birds against mortality but reduced body weight gain compared to the 7-day group vaccinated with Linco-Spectin 100 SP during the first three days. Poulvac E. coli given on day one or day seven did not affect the immune response to concurrent respiratory viral vaccines and, in some cases, improved response. This study shows that Poulvac E. coli at seven days of age, together with Linco-Spectin 100 during the first three days, has produced the best results in terms of protection and performance in the ME high presence of avian pathogenic E. coli field challenge.
